The Boathouse in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

We visit every time we’re in Cornwall. This is a great place that has everything you need. View, drinks, live music, food and in a great central location.

This is such a great hidden spot! We admittedly were just looking for somewhere to sit by the beach, all the other places we passed in Newquay were busy or not the right vibe.. we wondered down into Newquay harbour and found the loveliest quiet little beach with boast everywhere and little caves. The Boathouse sits right on the edge of this with big benches overlooking the sand below. We had our toddler so we had some drinks up top and then used their handy steps to easily get down to the beach and take turns toddling about on the sand whilst the other watched!

Great location with views over the harbour. Plenty of choice of "street food" for everyone and easy process to choose and order. Good selection of beers nd service was good, went back a few times because it was good.

I last went to this place 10 years ago when it was an amazing seafood restaurant with fresh lobster and crab in catch tanks outside. I'd given it really good reviews in the past. I went there last week and was disappointed to find it was yet another street food place ( I'm so over this type of dining), serving doughnuts and pizza. It was loud and chaotic. I asked for a menu for in the restaurant and was curtly told to scan the QR code on the table for the menu. The lady literally couldn't be bothered to speak to me. This place hasn't got the chilled seafood restaurant vibe that it used to have, so I went elsewhere for food.

Dirty Dozen Donuts are the absolute best. Anna is such a sweet heart and one of the most helpful and kind person I know. She works extremely hard from 9 am till 9 pm every day in the summer and never complains. Anna serves the best donuts in cornwall and you will not be disappointed #slay #wontbedissapointed

The BEST place to go in Newquay without a doubt! We went on a Saturday evening (get there early or you won’t get a good seat!) and stayed for about 2 hours. It’s not the cheapest around but the food is incredible and the views are second to none! Loved it so much and can’t wait to be back again soon ❤️

Fabulous place with an excellent choice of foods. We went two nights in a row and that was only because it was our last two nights otherwise we would have gone more! Our highlights were: Korean chicken wings, crispy potatoes, chicken shawarma, loaded fries, lobster rolls, pepperoni pizza and waffles, strawberries and Nutella. Washed down with a pint of off shore beer for the adults! Easy to order and quick service - every town should have this set up!!!

Loved it! Went with my husband, two children and baby. It was so easy to order and we all got different things it was a great idea for everyone to be happy! Despite them coming from different ‘stalls’ they all arrived at similar times which was great as we didn’t expect that. The location is fab even on a rainy day I imagine it to look pretty! We had a pram for our baby and it was Difficult to get to steps/pram on sand but we made the choice to go knowing this, we weren’t made to feel unwelcome at all with a pram (some places can be funny due to room it takes up) and staff were all lovely and accommodating but it was narrow and difficult to find a suitable place to sit with pram (baby newborn so couldn’t get in a highchair) This doesn’t reflect the venue at all though just something for families to consider - I wished we had took the baby car seat or sling instead.

Great street food restaurant with a great view. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly, but they don't have a physical menu, you have to scan a QR code to order from your phone.

We visited on a Saturday evening with our 9 month old daughter. I was worried we wouldn’t find a table but we got a table right on the beach. Super easy to order dinner on the app and we both had a a pizza which was amazing. It was the perfect location, very family friendly and perfect for couples. I would go back for sure!

If you are in Newquay this place has to be somewhere to go. We have visited twice this week and never been disappointed. Great service, drinks and food. The fish chowder was amazing! Perfect for us as our boys could stay on the sand and play while we waited for food. Tried to visit last October but they were closed. So happy they stayed open this year however they close after tomorrow for Winter. Thank you The Boat house it's been lovely. We will see you again.

We came here for a drink as we were staying at the nearby harbour hotel. We ended up staying for dinner and the rest of the night! I had the pizza and my husband had the burger and both were delicious. Our Atlantic Roots were playing and it added to the great vibe of the place. We loved the terrace as you could still sit outside whilst feeling sheltered even when it's raining. I'll be back to try the sauna!

Lovely find with a fantastic view of the harbour. We came in for drinks once, stayed for food and came back few times during our trip. Menu options are plentiful and food is delicious, will definitely visit when I'm in Newquay again! Keep up the good work!

We ate here twice as very close to where we were staying and both experiences were good. The first time we were a little later arriving so menus had become limited as it is a popular place. Great table on the edge of the harbour with the sea lapping at the wall. We tried two different pizzas and they were lovely and fresh - great flavours. Topped off by a waffle ..which was a little rich for me but my other half loved his and the remainder of mine! The second time we were earlier in the evening and came back for the prawns and salt and pepper squid with a portion of cheesy fries..this time sat on the benches on the beach watching the tide come in. Food was lovely and fresh and full of flavour. Wld highly recommend the walk down, either down the road or down the steps by Harbour Hotel if the tide is low enough. Ordering is easy and it’s just a lovely experience.

No vegetarian options minus a pizza and a wrap. Extremely disappointing when it’s reviewed so well. The idea of it sounds good but… expensive drinks to drink out of plastic.

Great variety and atmosphere. Visited whilst on holiday. The access we used was down a long and steep side road and steps. This routes not idea for everyone. There was a good variety of food and drink from burgers pizza and curry to paella Its not the cheapest but the food is good quality and tasty. You order via a phone app/ online and the food is delivered to your table. A dog friendly location.

Such a cool little place with lots of food choices and nice views over the small harbour and towan beach. There is a barcode on each table which you scan to order what food/drinks you want (like a food market). Dog friendly and something to eat for everyone

I called in here for some lunch with my two children and my girlfriend and her children. The boathouse is well located on Newquay harbour with all the lovely views that go with it. Surrounding the boathouse are several semipermanent Street food vendor is offering a varied selection of food. The best thing about this place is that you can go to a table scan, the QR code and order from all of the vendors who will then deliver straight to your table. On this occasion I ordered a lobster roll which came in a brioche bun with salad and Marie Rose sauce and nachos. The lobster was tasty and fresh and the whole sandwich was a nice lunch. Following this we ordered a waffle with bananas, caramel sauce and ice cream, which was very naughty, but very nice! This is a really relaxed place to eat and was nice when we came at lunchtime. Also nice when we pop back later in the evening for the kids to have a play in the harbour. I recommended food visit when in Newquay.

Great location. Lacked flavour. Buck Becketts lobster roll on brioche was a big disappointment for £15. Needs more effort as fresh fish on the beach should be an experience! Brioche rolls are common place everywhere now, sliced iceberg lettuce felt cheap (more kebab than lobster), a sliced cherry tomato, some cheap thin mayo and some crispy fried onions on top. It would have been so much better with some Helmans, perhaps with a little seasoning herbs or spices mixed in it, maybe chopped pickle and definitely some better salad leaves. Quantity of lobster was ok, came with nachos

Cannot recommend this place enough! We came for dinner on the last night of our holiday and it was the best meal we had. My partner ordered a Philly cheesesteak pizza and I ordered the fish tacos. Both meals were incredible (would highly recommend adding the lemon garlic mayo to the fish tacos, it was dreamy!!) and arrived quickly (around 10-15 mins) even though it was very busy! Location is also beautiful. It is worth mentioning that seating is quite limited here (we were lucky to find a table as soon as we arrived but a queue quickly built after we sat down!) so it may be worth going earlier than you usually would for dinner or you can expect a long wait for seating. However, takeaway options are available too which I think is a great idea. Overall, a fantastic experience and hope to return one day!

1st visit to the boathouse street food, sat an early Saturday evening, so very busy but queued up and soon got seated. We had a part of 6 , easy to order drinks and food , lots of choice food from all over , our favourite was the jerk and also the Indian !! Great service , food really great flavours. Great food and great atmosphere - not cheap but lovely none the less! Large selection of food. Encouraged to order via scanner which can be difficult with poor signal but understandable when it’s busy

Was initially really disappointed to find after years of visiting Newquay that The Boathouse as we previously knew it no longer existed, wasn’t too sure about the idea of multiple street food vendors. Having said that, once I saw the set up and ordered from a couple of the vendors my mind is firmly changed. What an excellent idea ! Lots of little independent businesses with a great range of affordable (and very tasty) food and drink options. Turns the Harbour area into a contemporary food and drink venue that everyone can enjoy.
