Lovely restaurant, top service and perfect location. Ruined fish n chips everywhere else for me now. Will come back again for the beef dripping batter

My daughter purchased chips for a treat for my grandson and they were awful. I was hoping to privately email or message about the poor quality chips but cannot find any email address.

Coeliacs/ people with dietary problems watch out! I come here every year and always had a positive experience and my dietary requirements being gluten free has always been catered for. I requested gluten free chips and the server told me blatantly they were all gluten free. However to her gluten free meant vegetarian and proceeded to serve me vegetarian chips that had been cooked with gluten. Luckily I double checked before eating that they were definitely gluten free and got told by another server they were definitely not. This could have made me very ill due to her lack of knowledge

We are from Manchester and traveled to Newquay for our holiday last week. We came here twice this year and twice in 2022. 10/10 chippy we absolutely love it here. Thank you!

I stopped for lunch here on Wednesday 11th April and I was extremely impressed. I like to sit down and eat when I go out for fish and chips and The Cod End is great for this. Nice clean tables with a sea view, very friendly and polite serving staff and fish and chips cooked to order. Great value too - fish, chips, mushy peas and a cup of tea in a nice sit down location for £11.50. No ridiculous extra charges for sauces (I've been charged 60p for a sachet of tomato sauce in another place in Newquay!!). Just good food, fresh fish and no rip-offs. Highly recommended and I will be back soon. Thank you!

What an absolutely stunning place, the views are outstanding. Massive bonus is being dog friendly. The owners are so friendly and welcoming, it was a pleasure chatting with them. The food was amazing. My husband had fish and chips, I had pie and chips. Both meals were fab and really good quality. They even gave my dogs a sausage, which they really enjoyed. Highly recommend 👌

Their offer is not good. They must slither the fish as thin as possible. More batter than fish. They off on hols now so who cares what they serve us….Shall not go again

Horrendous wait as endless line of delivery drivers kept coming in. Lots of unhappy customers in the shop. Fish small and more like flat fish. Used as the Chippy was closed for some reason. Never again.

I’ve never seen such a bad service like this. The blond girl from the counter was VERY impolite. I asked a simple question and she rolled her eyes (????). All The tables were a mess even that the restaurant wasn’t busy. I sat down but gave up eating because I felt really bad with the girl’s attitude

Food tasted good and travelled well. Would have been a different review if not for the shockingly bad 'Southern Style veggie burger'. £5 for a patty in a box. Tasted great but missing everything that would make it a burger, at £5 it is a complete rip off. Really disappointing

Lovely food with lovely views, it's as simple as that! Food is cooked to order, and everything comes out nice and hot. Good quality food and tastes great in general. To top it off, there's a lovely view of the beach, and I could sit there for hours. Definitely a recommendation if you're in the area.

Lovely fish and chips. Popular so a bit of a wait. I parked in their customer parking spaces by the side of the shop and the aldi carpark supervisors sent me a fine as they had my number plate entering and leaving the area, even though i didn't use aldi spaces. I did appeal, and they cancelled the ticket. Thank you.

Don’t go before they close. All staff are rude and disrespectful. They just want to close, swearing about more orders going in and they even argued with a young girl tonight. Uncomfortable place to go. I wouldn’t come again my fish was soggy by the end of all the commotion. The owners were in the wrong big time. Disgusted. Unprofessional.

Got take away from here a sat outside on the undercover benches. Staff were friendly , food was fresh and very tasty. Great price £7.50 for medium cod and chips with free side. Restaurant also available. Highly recommended!

The shop doesn’t look great from the outside and the staff slightly slow as they were too busy but still friendly . Medium fish and chips with free side only £7.50 and the fish was excellent . Good batter and v good quality cod . Worth a try You can “takeaway “ but sit on covered benches at the front .

Do not get a takeaway, the view, service and importantly the food is top class. Take time out and sit in the restaurant enjoy the stunning views as well as the great food. Would of paid more than the actual cost it was that good 👍🏻 We’ll be back Regards Craig & Paula

Well...it's not often when I giving only 1 star but this place deserves it. Waiter (short lady with tattoo on hand) was very rude and unpleasant! Food (cod with chips) wasn't taste like fresh fish and chips was fried on the old oil. Simple avoid this place.

We were ignored! seemed like we were invisible. VERY POOR. The take away price for cod and chips £7.50. Eat in £12! DO NOT GO HERE. There's a nice chip shop opposite called Mr chippy. Go there.

Placed a order of two adults meals and two kids meals, was given a ticket waited 30 minutes our order was called went to the counter then they decided to start the order? So waited 30 minutes for a place in a non existent que? Chips was shocking like left over burnt, fish was the same and the fish cake was just as bad. Staff started panicking when two people come in

I went here last night and was excited for some seaside fish and chips. The fish was so old that the cod inside was starting to go hard, and the chips were brown. This is because the oil is old… don’t try and fool people who work on food industries. Old stale food and oil. Very disappointed

Fish n chips ok but I'm from Yorkshire and maybe they make them differently. Just ok though you do get a really big portion.

Take away is pretty good, but we decided to eat in, big mistake. Ordered cheesy chips, well in fairness that’s what we got, I have never seen it like this before. Dreadful atmosphere in there as well. Probably won’t return there.

Great fish and chip shop and plenty of gluten free options including fish, scampi and the best ever GF fishcakes ever. Guy who served us even brought me GF vinegar too. Great place for Coeliacs and 'normal' bods alike

Found the woman serving to be really rude and unfriendly, we didn’t get served in the end after just waiting around by the cashier’s area for around 10 minutes. Left without placing an order. Seemed to be an issue with them taking orders and making them. They seemed a bit over challenged. Either way, to ignore a customer, wasn’t good. We ended up going elsewhere.

Excellent portions, friendly staff, everything looks cooked to order, we had half chicken & chips and a kebab wrap & chips. Both cooked to perfection. Lovely crispy skin and tasty chips. Good value for money.

A gorgeous sea view, very kind staff and the food was wonderful at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Newquay. Hillary was especially lovely!

We ordered chicken and chips, it tasted like rubber. Worst chicken and chips. I would never suggest to order chicken and chips. We also ordered fish and chips. The fish was smelling bad. The fish and chips did not have salt.

Fantastic views from the restaurant and chips are lovely. Fishcake and haddock however were horrible and over cooked. Dogs are allowed which seems to be a thing now at all seaside places, woman behind the counter said they like dogs more than people! Long wait to order food but only 1 woman working in the restaurant side of the chip shop.

Good food at decent prices . Fish is all cooked fresh and worth the wait. It is worthwhile eating in the dining area at the back for the views alone. Staff are friendly and helpful. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend eating here

Lovely fish and chips but the only chip shop I know that doesn’t serve baked beans. I prefer beans than peas so was disappointed that it wasn’t an option not even on the menu as they don’t have them full stop

Was down in the Cornwall with the family. Fancied fish and chips and this place didn’t disappoint. The only place open at lunch time. Sat in the restaurant at the back with a fantastic view of the beach. Very friendly staff and the food was great. Much better than the chip shops mid country.

Fish n chips were nothing to write home about, my children didn't like the chicken nuggets over cooked they said, had to wait nearly 20 minutes, mushy peas were spot on

Proper fish and chips place with a stunning view, Looking at the queue, the place is very popular. I had cod special plate with mushy peas, and my husband ordered a seafood basket.The portions were generous, and I normally struggle with soft, soggy chips. These ones were crispy outside and fluffy inside. The perfection would be to serve it with a homemade sauce and a pinch of Cornish sea salt not ready bought.

Food was shocking batter on fish was very thick and tasted awful and was strangely orange with a wired smell, my brother also has the seafood basket which all tasted like it was from Iceland. Oh and there was 6 of us eating and all our condiments (peas and gravy) was cold. Give it a miss

Best views possible for eating in.

Very bad quantity of food for the price, I ordered a burger and the patty was the size of a tomato slice. The burger was utterly plain without any sauce or salad. Definitely do not recommend. Only good thing was the view.

My first time visiting the town and the shop, so I thought I’d stop over for lunch after after a very long drive, with my young family. I was made to wait 10 minutes, only to be pushed aside by a very aggressive couple and told to wait on the other side. I had no idea how their system worked and was told I came from the outside, when I didn’t. The lady was very rude towards me and didn’t even try to explain it me or resolve my request, I am extremely disappointed by the attitude of the people in the shop and how I was treated. “The customer is always right” I have never been treated this way before and as a tourist and paying customer this has put me off the town completely.

Was a regular at this restaurant for the last few years until today when ordering off just eat and food was missing. Called the restaurant yet was so unhelpful in just telling me to take it up with just eat whom take within 7 days to look into issues

Don’t know what was happening when we went maybe end of day but the Cod and chips tasted of old oil like it had been used to fry chicken . Yuck! Double yuck

Absolutely unbelievable. Wonderful staff, gorgeous food, beyond reasonable prices and they cater for all us insufferable types with all manner of dietary restrictions. Gluten free, dairy free, vegan all that jazz. And they even have a great view. I’d have pictures of the food but we ate it before we could take our phones out. Might just be the best chippy we’ve ever been to. P.s the lemon sole is to die for, no suet though.

The restaurant was under staff The flooring was in bad condition with food Most of the customers had to wait 40 mins to a hour for food Then it was wrong The management needs to delegate staff to the restaurant area I do if sorry for the young staff who kept saying sorry sorry for the inconvenience I feel more training for the older Ones..

Empty on a Tuesday night. Only chose the place due to the queue for takeaway..glad I stopped. Good fish with loads of proper chips. The curry sauce was nice...almost like a katsu sauce

Wow we came to stay here for the night and came across this chippy, it was my 30th birthday the next day and it was ruined... me and my partner ordered chips each, a cod to share and 2 sausages..we got back to out Hotel and noticed the sausages didn't even look like the ones that were displayed they were very dark and dry and the cod didn't even taste of anything that night the food was repeating on my partner but the next day we both felt very ill with a dodgy stomach it's now Monday and were still feeling the same, I'm really upset as this has totally ruined my birthday weekend which when we arrived home I had another meal planned with the family! Never again will I eat here

Couldn’t have had a lovelier welcome from the staff here (in fact so good we came back another day!) The welcome was the same even with different staff on duty. Great food, reasonable priced and an amazing view from the seating area at the back over Great Western beach.

Visited first time yesterday and would defo recommend to anyone visiting Newquay. Tasted excellent, staff were very helpful and friendly and best of all it was Gluten Free and I could have it.

Food is cooked to order fresh so you put your order in and they call you when it's ready, they cook in beef dripping and the fish and chips were excellent and not to pricy considering it's a tourist town, a cone of chips 2small chips 1medium chips 1medium fish and 2 sausages 15quid

Absolutely shocking service went in to order food when I presented him with my Scottish £10 note he refused to take them I think that's absolutely shocking he's discrimination to the Scottish people even the £10 had Stirling on it he refused to take it but all the other fast foods took it with no problem want to be ashamed of there self's

One of my favourite chippes down in Newquay. Whenever I go on holiday to Newquay I also make sure I come here at least twice before my holiday ends. Fantastic fish and chips , lovely staff and great customer service.

From the outside it makes you want it because it looks very typical... And then we arrive in a sort of canteen... I was the only one... And my order took 30 minutes to arrive... I can tell you that while waiting I saw people passing through for take away orders.... The portions are generous... Yes... But the quality is not there... Large, frozen fries and tasteless frozen onion rings. Huge disappointment

Very busy on arrival staff were friendly and apologetic about the queue due to staffing issues but the food was definitely worth the wait. 1 happy family also very reasonably priced!
