14 years after going here and having a mediocre meal we decided to try again. Wish we hadn’t bothered. The main issue here is the atmosphere; there just isn’t one. Food is not great, over priced for what it is. Not sure how this place survives, but well done for still being a going concern when other places have gone. Think the location has a lot to do with it. Don’t think we will be going again.

Food was delicious and made with high quality ingredients and reasonably priced. Beautiful restaurant and excellent service, dog friendly and very welcoming! The baked feta starter is incredible and I highly recommend it

Superb Sunday Roast, great service and atmosphere with live music. On a grey day, the view of the harbour was still wonderful!

Delicious Fish and chips! Great service lovely people Worth a visit but check their hours for when they are open.

We went there for lunch, it said open on google and their website but it was closed.

Sorry this is a low score but we were disappointed on our latest visit, (We are local). We had gone especially for their fig desert which is usually lovely, this time however it was very obviously a different chef as it was not only half the size but nowhere near as nicely presented or tasty. Service was friendly but slow and although the restaurant is in a prime harbour front location there were no other diners, a bit pricey!

Have visited this place many times over last few years recent experience not very good had the mussels at least 40% where closed not one of my better visits.

Lovely restaurant in Porthleven serving Italian food with a Cornish seafood twist. The seafood linguine was standout, mackerel starter also very good. We went in the off-season and it was still busy so it’s well worth booking ahead. Porthleven harbour looked great at nighttime, lit up with multicolour lights. Couple of things letting it down from 5 stars: one main was a little cold when it came out and the atmosphere could have done with a bit of something.

Lovely restaurant serving a range of dishes but with a definite seafood emphasis. The seafood pizza was delicious and the seafood linguine was divine. Fantastic views across the harbour from the conservatory with attentive and friendly service. Also welcoming to well-behaved dogs.

Food was excellent, we sat by the door ona Coltishall night and it wasn't great getting a cold drafteith customers in and out all the time. But still a great position overlooking the harbour. Big and airy.

Amelie's was very quiet when we visited. Small menu, but superb cooking and great service. Not cheap!

The 4 of us enjoyed ourselves immensely. The local pilsner was really good.

Found this place after a fruitless drive around Durness, getting upset at misleading advertising and rude staff. It was worth it. Friendly from the moment we walked through the door, very helpful with my dietary needs, cakes looked so good the wife had chosen hers before we ordered lunch! Gluten free breaded haddock for me, real fresh haddock as it should be from the factory across the road, homemade tartare sauce that had some taste.. Toastie for the missus. Too full to eat cake, took one home as a takeaway. Clean and modern cafe, spotless easy access toilets. If you are in the area, cannot recommend more highly. Thanks to the staff, I hope you know how good you are.

Have eaten here many times over the last few years on our visits to Porthleven and had high expectations last night, only to be bitterly disappointed. We both ordered the surf and turf which arrived before our starter plates had been taken. The steak was dry and over cooked. Had to ask for condiments, nobody asked how our food was. One particular waitress was quite dismissive. We only left a small tip which obviously didn’t impress but they were lucky to get anything. Won’t be coming back for the foreseeable future.

Nice dog friendly restaurant on the harbour. We both had enjoyable meals.

Wanted to go for a long time. Explained to very nice waiter that I've just been told likely diabetic (got letter when I got home) and I am really watching diet. Waiter understood and took order for fish with the instruction of no butter or oil. Sadly, kitchen staff seem incapable of taking this instruction -not just here☹️ It's not hard, won't return.

Stunning restaurant just by the harbour head in Porthleven! Great views if you can get a table in the conservatory. Food was excellent and reasonably priced, and staff were very helpful and friendly.

Absolutely beautiful location, matched by beautifully fresh, delicious food! The oysters were outstanding, the lemon sole special I had for a main was fresh and full of flavour and my daughter actually ate all of her fish, chips and peas (except the bit of fish I tasted, and even that was fresh and delicious!). Very welcoming for myself and my toddler as well as a few pups who were visiting on the day. Highly recommend and already look forward to going back again!

Every time I visit Porthleven I visit Amelies and I am never let down. Food, service and atmosphere are second to none. I cannot recommend this restaurant high enough

Shame on them to think im not going to notice gray sharply shaped machine cut so called fish fingers that didnt smell or taste like fish..lovely staff sorted problem but shouldnt have been given in first place😡children are youre next paying guests

Due to CODID we haven’t visited Porthleven for a few years but we were excited to celebrate Mother’s Day at Amelie’s having really enjoyed our last visit but we were sadly really disappointed! We love the fact that they welcome dogs as we wouldn’t have dined without our girls with us and the welcome glass of Prosecco for the ladies was very thoughtful! However, the food was a real disappointment - my wife ordered prawn cocktail and received a ramakin sized dish with just a few prawns cut in half lengthways!!! If they were short of prawns why put it on the menu. Or perhaps they felt that a lady couldn’t eat a whole prawn? Bizarre! I had salt and pepper calamari to start and it was fine but nothing to write home about. My wife then had scallops for main which was more the size of a starter whilst I had a trip back to an 80’s Bernie inn with a surf and turf consisting if a mini steak and a couple of prawns, basic fries with a hand full of rocket! Where’s there ambition! And at £28 I would have expected at least a whole steak, triple cooked chips and some asparagus with a contemporary presentation. Service was attentive but the whole experience was sooo average. By comparison and for a quarter of the price we’ve had fabulous meals at both Dan Dan the lobsterman’s shack and the Muscle Shoal so sadly we won’t be returning to Amelie’s any time soon.

Amazing food, gorgeous location & fabulous staff!

Had a delightful lunch overlooking the harbour. Very friendly service by the young surfer waiter. Food was good too and they went out of their way to ensure that the crab aranchini were fried in the chip frier so that our friend with an allergy to prawns was effected by cross contamination.

We went there on Saturday evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary, big disappointment, very salty mackerel pate, fish pieces dry from being over fried, small pizza ordered which came like the toppings had been served on a poppadom, overall presentation very poor. We didn't complain because we didn't want our evening completely ruined, we will go somewhere else and celebrate our wedding anniversary again as it was one of the big ones . We did tell the waitress we were bitterly disappointed, but only when she asked if everything was okay when we paid the bill. We noticed her telling the manager as we were leaving, but he didn't approach or stop us .

Extremely disappointing. Lacking atmosphere, the squid was rubbery and tasteless, the king prawns over cooked and smothered in cream with no flavour of the promised garlic and chilli. We hoped for better with the over priced main course. Mussels and fries..half the mussels were hot on the surface and cold underneath the other half was cold. Drowned in cream with no flavour. The top layer of chips were hot, the rest were cold. Bread was like cardboard. Surf and Turf..chips were hard in the middle, steak was cooked well but same issue with king prawns. Rocket salad was drowned in oil and soaked Parmesan. Wait staff were attentive and fair, refunding the cost of mussels, but sadly we will not be returning.

Change of management since we last dined here a couple of years ago, and it shows: it has vastly improved. Attentive, prompt and friendly service. Delicious food, well cooked and beautifully presented. We sat in the conservatory overlooking the harbour. Our little dog was welcome too. We hope to return.

Starters were tiny and lacking punch. We were advised to try platter on the express basis they were full size. Then we get told if we ordered separately it would be same tiny portion size but just spread out on the plate. Bruschetta was cold / very hard. Babaganous came with the smallest piece of flatbread. Mains came out just luke warm - not hot. Didn’t have the energy to complain as the feedback on starters was somewhat ignored. Defo do not recommend. Lacked any feel of putting client experience first. Feel dissapointed. Even the children’s ‘ fish bites’ felt processed rather than flakey fish.

I saw the show on TV where the owners had to find a Chef. We always pop into Porthleven whilst we stay in Cornwall. It was decided that we should pay Amelies a visit. We wasn’t disappointed, the food was excellent , the service was great and the view of the harbour was of a 1st class setting. Reasonably priced as well. Covid compliment which I was happy with. If your in Porthleven you must try Amelies, you won’t be disappointed Thank you

We were last here pre covid times...has there been a change of ownership perhaps? Very disappointed by the total change of menu and style of food served. we have been very regular twice yearly visitors for several years...i guess nothing stays the same. The reorganisation in the bar area works ok but for me...why fix what aint broken 🤷‍♀️

I don’t usually write reviews but I had such a terrible time here that I feel I should. Prosecco: I opted for the more expensive one but it tasted like Babycham from the 80s! Vile. Nevertheless I was still optimistic the evening could be salvaged. I had olives to start. I know it’s a fish restaurant but I honestly thought I’d be able to be vaguely veggie/vegan without too much hassle (DH eats fish 🐠 so I am happy to try). However, only starter available was padron peppers. For main I opted for panzella salad. I say opted. It was the only one really. It was utterly disappointing. It was the kind of. Salad I imagine that non vegetable eaters dream of when thinking of punishments for vegetarians and vegans. Dry, sour, bitter. I won’t be going back.

Went on Sunday lunchtime. Food very average, wifes meal luke warm. Poor value

The nicest thing was the view. The food was awful, the staff looked like they didn't want to be here. Gave off a uncomfortable feel to the place. The squid was like rubber the sauce that came with it had a thick skin layer on top, the scallop dish was awful and burnt the gem lettuce was slimy the side salad was coverd in a dressing that was very bitter. The other main dish was a selection of fish all over cooked, couldn't shell the prawns, squid again was like rubber, the white bait In it was soggy, the grill fish was mush. My husband is a fisherman so we know fish and how fresh it should be. Both of us couldn't eat more than 2 mouthful. All we got offered was a dessert not even to eat some money off the bill. We will not be visiting again.

Ordered the charcuterie board starter and omg it was so over priced, 2 tiny pieces of bread drizzled in olive oil a bit of rocket and 3 very small slices of salami and it was £9.50, Total rip off!!! The burger was good but unless you like pizza or burgers not much choice of anything else.

Just had the most delicious meal, never liked olives and capers until I had them in my porthleven speciality tonight. Perfect meal, perfect view, perfect service. Thank you, we will be back.

Beautiful setting and pleasant enough staff but unfortunately that's as far as my experience went, food was of a very low standard and very highly priced scallops overcooked squid overcooked whitebait soggy prawns overcooked so much we couldn't even shell them grilled fish soggy and not the freshest either I'm a fisherman and I know what fresh fish is! Was so looking forward to this meal as was a treat for our honeymoon.

The staff and the service were wonderful but were let down by a sub-par meal. The only vegan main on the menu was a panzanella salad that was overpriced and so vinegary it was almost inedible. I left hungry. My partner enjoyed the hummus starter but thought it was expensive. Such a shame as a great view of the harbour and friendly people but wouldn't reccomend.

Had a meal at this restaurant which i enjoyed as I had the fish dishes, my wife had the mackerel starter again very good but she chose the Pizzettes for mains which were 6"in diameter. The caramelised onion and Goats cheese which was very tasty then tried a spicey beef version which was quite bland in flavour. The mussels were absolutely stunning and would recommend as we enjoyed the meal looking out over Porthleven Harbour.

Quality has decreased since last time, pizza was not cooked properly a bit disappointing.

Disappointing meal, very underwhelmed by the restaurant & our experience.

Food and atmosphere very relaxing, apart from the waitress knocking my finger bowl over and down my leg. The only criticism is that there is no dessert option for a diabetic when I asked if there was I told by the waiter that everything they had had sugar in it and there was no options. That is the only reason I have given 4 stars.

Canceled my booking and claimed to have left message. Could have emailed as confirmation was emailed. The young lady whom I spoke with about the episode was rude and didn't even offer an apology. We specifically booked this restaurant after a great experience first time. I am quite frankly disgusted the way I was treated and can whole heartedly NOT recommend this restaurant DO NOT BOOK!

Booked a table a few weeks back turned up last night and the place was closed. No phone calls, email or a notice on the door..nothing. It left us a few others who had also turned up with nowhere to eat as everywhere else was fully booked. Well done Amelies

We had the most excellent experience today. The food was fresh, tasty and enough selection on the menu for most people. The staff delightful to deal with and completely dog friendly. Couldn't ask for more. Made it a very special meal. Thank you.

Nice restaurant with some good food and a nice view of the harbour. Fish seems to be their speciality, as you would expect. Booking well in advance is advised. There is some parking along the road.

Lovely location however the service wasn’t upto much, nobody at front of house to welcome you then after reading all Covid information given to you it stated that you would have the same staff for your table to stop any cross contamination, we had 5 different staff serve us during our meal. Food was average so before booking here look at others close by as there are better places to eat.

Oh dear! Am not a fan of negative reviews but as the waiter who took payment did not ask the usual "was everything ok?" (which sums up the whole experience), then here we go. Very average food. Overpriced for what it is. Pizzette(??) was definitely on a premade dough base (therefore like cardboard). "I think that's the worst pizza I've ever eaten". We've lived here for a couple of years and sad to say its the worst meal yet. There are many fabulous restaurants around but this is not one of them. Go elsewhere, this is not a place for foodies.

Very good staff, food was really tasty, on my opinion a bit small portion of starter ( shrimps) and a bit not enough choice of sea food for example no oysters, octopus...(if its possible)

Great place, cool Mediterranean feel, overlooking the harbour. Always a firm favourite.

Attentive staff (though could do with some extra training before first shift). We were all really disappointed with our food. It is not as described in so many of the reviews here. Sloppy cooking, tiny portions (even for a small plate) and seriously overpriced. 5 tiger prawns (£13), were overcooked, chips were luke warm, frito misto (£17) was minimal, overcooked and over salty,... I could go on. Maybe it was an off night, but I won't be returning and can only suggest others avoid it.

The food was ok but the service was very good

On a short break in the Porthleven between Christmas and New Year in a year that will not be forgotten for all the wrong reasons. It was great to find this little gem on the harbourside, a true star amongst the bright twinkling Christmas lights. The waitress was very welcoming and attentive and the food was wonderful, plentiful and excellent quality, the trout pate and crostini was plenty enough for 2 and set the mood off well, even the artisan bread, olive oil and balsamic was delicious. The slow roasted belly pork was a substantial serving which melted in the mouth, accompanied by delicious smooth mustard mesh and cider gravy topped by the crispiest crackling, a side of griddled vegetables added further flavour. The Fritto Misto needed no side and I struggled to eat it all despite the squid melting in the mouth, the whole shell on prawns being full of flavour, with wonderful fried whitebait and other fish morsels. Of course it had to be washed down with a very good Pinot Grigio. Would we go again, too right we will. Thankyou to the team

We wanted a seafood lunch with something for the non seafood eater. We had a lovely meal served quickly by a very knowledgeable waiter. I am GF and had seafood misto - impressive. View across the harbour is great.

The food was so nice, we shared a 6 starter platter and a Fritto Misto and couldn't fault it. Drinks fairly priced and staff attentive and helpful. We've been a few times and have never been disappointed.

A real filip during such trying times. We should have been in Spain right now. This experience and delight more than made up for it. Tremendous food and delightful staff.
