Fraser’s Fish & Chips in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Tried Fraser's as they were recommended as a Gluten Free friendly fish & chips takeaway. Both the Gluten free and regular food was very good. The chicken burger was particularly good.

Great customer service food was fantastic the fish just fell apart and it was great value for money

I'm sorry but I don't know what you have done. Not cheap but normaly very tasty and goes down well. Well tonight I had fish and chips, chicken and chips, mushy peas and sauce at a cost of over 30 pounds. Asked if I wanted salt and vinegar etc of which I said yes please on both meals. Got home and in all honesty none of us could eat it all as everything was so dry. Ended up in the bin. Very disappointed due to the cost you would have thought it would be something special , but does not seem to be the case anymore.

What an absolute gem this little fish and chip spot turned out to be! After a visit to the Minack Theatre, we were in need of something tasty to keep us going on the journey back to Bude, and Fraser’s delivered brilliantly. My wife went for the scampi with a portion of perfectly double-cooked chips, while I tucked into a halloumi burger with some cheesy chips. Both were delicious! The service was spot on, with our food prepared quickly and bursting with flavour. A lovely touch was being able to bring our dog in while we waited, and to top it all off, they even accept the Blue Light Card, which is always a welcome bonus. We’re so glad we stopped by and got to enjoy everything Fraser’s has to offer. We’ll be back when we’re next in town.

It suppose to be a fast food fish and chip. They’re the slowest fish and chip shop I’ve ever been to. They use to be quality food to make up for it but that’s not the case anymore. I would highly recommend trying others in the area.

Ordered a serve of F&C with calamari. The fish was very nice with a good portion of chips that were soso, the calamari was very very ordinary. Over the whole meal for £25 disappointed.

We had to eat fish and chips in Cornwall. The fish was fantastically nice and tasty. Only have takeout but it was nice to sit on the boardwalk.

Usually rate this place, had chips yesterday and they were only just warm and not very tasty at all, think they'd been sat around for a while, very disappointing. No veggie sausages available either.

Great food and lots of options for those who need to be gluten free. We always visit when we are near Penzance on holiday. The only extra request I would make is for the addition of gluten free sausages (lots of fish and chip shops do them now) to go with the other options but I can recommend the southern fried coated chicken fillet I had with chips and curry sauce.

Ordered a regular fish and chips and was amazed how large the cod was. Staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. The shop is right at the promenade, so you can enjoy your food right near the sea (and with some of the local birdlife, aka. Seagulls 😄)

The best chip shop I've ever been to. Modern way to order if you want to jump the que. Lovely friendly staff and lovely fish and chips. £10.40 for small cod and chips seems like a lot to me but it was a massive portion for a small! If you're rich you need to try it for yourself, if you're poor like me treat yourself once in a while.

Really good fish and chips ordered on their website. Sadly the system isn't great as once you get there you then tell them you're there and then they get it ready. I understand why they've done this but it wasn't clear enough when ordering. Really nice gluten free fish and chips though.

I ordered online for collection. When I arrived the staff prepared my order freshly and were really jolly and funny. Food was delicious. An ace experience!

Chips were cold and full of black eyes and bits. Peak time at 5:40 on a Friday night and tasted if they’d been cooked for hours. Fish was average, disappointing as it’s so close to Newlyn!

Had fish and chips today and must say they are some of the best in Cornwall, fish was quality both cod and haddock

Went on holiday around St.Ives last year and on my way to lands end me and my family went here for food and it tasted amazing! If I ever come back around to Penzance I’ll definitely be coming back to this chippy.

Love the refurbishment at the Penzance branch. The extra space means that one does not have to wait outside. We have been customers for many years and love their fish and chips with mushy peas that are always well packed and remain hot while we drive home. Recent visit confirmed that their standards are high. Long may they continue. Gluten free option is an added bonus. Staff are always helpful and friendly. An asset to the town.

The best gluten free Haddock, cod and chips I've ever had!

It’s a bust chip shop with plenty of local support which is always a good sign. Ordering gluten free can be a worry for coeliacs, but Frasers cater to this requirement very well. The fish is always cooked so beautifully & always a nice, fresh taste. Wishing you continued success.

After being regular customer at the fish and chip shop I won’t be returning and won’t be recommending to anyone either after today’s experience with so called ‘chef/ cook’. He approached family / friend with their dog and gave them a lot of fuss and had a catch up , in mean time I placed my order and he returned to his work station to cook the order. I watched him walk behind counter and straight into fish fridge tray to pick through several pieces of fish to then proceeded to batter the fish and put into the fryer without washing his hands after playing with the dog. After being called out for his extremely poor hand hygiene he lied and said he washed his hands prior to handling food which I watched him walk straight to the food prep station and then he follow by another lie that he never played with the dog after been called out in front of customers and been witnessed by several customers there . If only the ‘ chef/ cook ‘ would have accepted that he has made a mistake and tried to rectify it , I would have accepted it. However his behaviour was extremely poor and would highly recommend for him to revisit food hygiene and handling training .

Good fish and chips, value for mlney

Usually love frasers it's my go to chippy. However today I waited a really long time, when I got my food home I had gravy instead of curry sauce, there was no salt and vinegar and the chips were half raw. They were not busy enough to warrant all these mistakes. It's ruined my evening, I'm sure many can relate to the frustrating feeling when you get the food home that your craving and have paid for, and its not what you ordered. I am certainly not going to drive all the way back down for this to be corrected.. disappointed to say the least.

Large chips?! I counted about a dozen actual chips, a half raw chip and lots of snippets of chips all for, wait for it, £5.50! Also, on first sight I thought the two small pieces of cod were actually battered sausages, seriously! £18.20 for wartime rations! I've had good fish and chips from Frasers before but I must have got them on a couldn't care less night. Never again.

Tried this place tonight as our usual chippy further up the seafront was closed, will not be going back to it. Average price for Cornwall (almost £30 for fish and chips twice, couple of sauces and one can), quality was not bad either, but the size of portion was the worst we've had from a good number of West Cornwall fish and chip shops.

Ordered fish and chips for three. They have embraced technology and was worried if this is a sign of money over quality. It's not cheap but food was excellent. Cod was superb and portions plentiful.I had a curry sauce which might not be to everyone's liking as bit more Indian than chip shop. Staff serving are polite and quick. Well done all.

We've previously been here when on holiday last year and it was amazing. Today, on holiday again, I picked up food for my family (three of us coeliacs) and whilst the fish was ok, the chips were horrendous. I should have taken a picture but we were all starving. It looked like they'd forgotten to cook enough gluten free chips and then had to spilt a large chips bewtween all three of us even though we'd ordered one large and two regular. Literally a small handful each and mostly all tiny hard shards. Really really fuming as I'd spent over £50 on four meals!! Also, we'd pre ordered online, which I thought would mean the food would be ready at our time slot. Nope, they hadn't started cooking it. The bloke in front of us was twenty minutes early for his time slot, but they still cooked his food first. Made no sense whatsoever. Don't even bother pre ordering, actually, don't even bother going here! Was looking forward to coming here a couple of times this week, but won't ever return now.

Been to Fraser's fish and chips twice now while down in Penzance for the day. Situated along the promenade next to the amusements it's a busy chip shop. Parking can be found along the front if you're very lucky. But it's only a 15 minute walk from the town centre. They have those annoying self service touch screens that never make life that easy, although you could probably order directly with the counter staff. On both occasions I've been there the wait is very long. Not much space to wait inside if it's wet out. The waiting for the food is the killer for me. It takes so long. Both times I've been stood there for over 20 minutes. Also they never put enough salt and vinegar on and you can't do it yourself. Food comes in a nice looking paper bag and food in nice boxes. Chips always nice, never really greasy. Battered sausage and fishcakes nice too. Had the curry sauce last time and that was the worst I've ever had. Tasted gravy like and was very salty to taste Trouble is if you want fish and chips in Penzance during the day Fraser's are the only one's open all day in Penzance, so it's Fraser's or nothing. If I went again I'd take my own salt and vinegar down, would I recommend...we'll give it a go 😏

Perfect fish and chips. There are benches across the street at the promenade. You can enjoy your food with a seaview.

The most expensive fish and chips I have ever had. Some might say you get what you pay for. That does not apply to this place. Not great, not terrible but really not great. Service was ok, girls were nice. Either improve the food to reflect the price or lower the price to reflect the food.

Had a takeaway tonight. Hubby had cod & chips and I had haddock & chips. Nothing extra except salt and vinegar. We both said it was delicious and not at all greasy. I can especially vouch for the haddock, very tasty. We will be coming back when we’re next in the area and hope it will be just as tasty then.

£35 for cod and chips twice and a sausage!!!!!! Not a great portion and the fish wasn’t great considering the sea is over the road. Wouldn’t recommend at all

Extremely rude and arrogant woman serving people were asking for chips with peas on. Instead, she gave them tubs and said extremely rudely and abruptly, "we put it in tubs because if you burn yourself, you were not liable." The chips were so expensive £5.50 for a so-called large chips, I sent the picture to my daughter, who managed a chip shop for 3 years, she said mum that's not a large that's a regular box" and one box served two children so no definitely not a large, I paid £11 for chips that did 4 kids 🤦‍♀️ the curry sauce was absolutely vile it was like gravy with spice added, definitely not curry sauce. Won't ever go back there it was terrible. The fish was meant to be fresh from Newlyn, except the fish was old and really didn't taste fresh. It tasted far too fishy to be fresh that day, anyone who's ever been sea fishing or had fish caught the same day will tell you a fish that's fresh has only it's taste it doesn't have a fishy odour or taste as such.

Excellent staff, excellent food. Loads of gluten free options! Would well recommend.

Chips were delightful and gluten-free options available, but overall the prices and portion sizes would stop me from going again, over £5 for a "large chips" which in my home town would be a small to medium portion for less.

Unbelievable, 2 fish and chips, 1 battered sausage and 2 cans. £42. Yes maybe by the seaside, take away. Unbelievable. How on earth can you physically justify that cost. Never will we visit you again when in cornwall. I expect to pay a bit more when on holiday but £42! The only reason you got paid was my partner paid whilst I was in the car.

Decent Food at reasonable prices

One of the best fish & chips in entire UK. Fish was fresh and batter was not thick. Chips was fried to perfect. Tried the scallops also, that too was nice. Moderate price 2 small cod + scallop costed around 20.

Waited ages for just a single regular portion of chips, even though there are plenty of staff and food waiting in the counter. Loads of people also stood outside waiting. Got bored of waiting. I sad now 😢

Used to be OK, but now don't understand why anyone would bother. Small fish portions, uninspiring chips and expensive. I would recommend any other chippy in Pz over Fraser's.

Paid over £16 for one “large” cod & chips with a curry sauce. The portion size was more like regular compared to what you get elsewhere. The curry sauce was watery and the chips were absolutely covered in too much salt. Overall disappointing and too expensive. The fish was not too bad though, cooked nicely and good batter, not overly greasy.

Really enjoyed fish and chips and the self service ordering was easier to ensure you had the correct items.

Great gluten free fish and chips. Easy order online and collection

Finding coeliac friendly fish and chips shops is remarkably hard in a place that has so many chippies. Fraser's has become a firm favourite of mine, consistently giving great crispy chips and well cooked fish in batter that isn't stodgy. Its location makes it perfect to sit on the promenade and watch the waves whilst having a chippy tea.

We are both regulars and local. My wife wrote a review last week after a disappointing experience so we visited today and used a voucher given to us by the company. The staff and service was excellent as always. Thank you. The hot was hot, unlike last week so that was good. My wife's fish was both small, very thin, overcooked and small. My fish was nice but definitely small. The chips were absolutely tasteless. Never had such bland chips. Since the start of the summer holidays we have noticed the portions are smaller and the quality not as good. Normally the fish and chips from Fraser's are excellent. The last two visits have been disappointing and the food overall poor. We have in the past recommended Fraser's to many people. We cannot in all honesty do that any more. We will now be going elsewhere.

I used the find me gluten free app to search for gluten free fish and chip shops. Frazer's is accredited by coeliac UK and they didn't disappoint. Their menu clearly marks all gluten free options and they ensure that the gluten free order is clearly marked with a sticker. They also sell a range of GF ice creams. Staff were very helpful and it was well organised. The food was delicious 😊

Have been here the last 2 times I've been on holiday near Penzance, lovely fish and chips here. Loved the option of ordering online and from the touch screen here, must be new since I was last in. You know this place is good when you see like 20 people queueing for the place. Did order one with salt and vinegar but it didn't come with any on.

The food is great! Service didn't really exist, you order on a screen and waited ages for the food, no interaction with the staff other than handing the food over. Folk or Napkins as I put on the order, and I didn't know you had to the drinks you order from the fridge and had to ask. But again, the food was amazing. I have been a manager in hospitality and recommend more customer interaction.

On the pricey side but decent fish & chips

We are members of your VIP club . We are local and live in Penzance . We buy fish n chips every week and are OAPs Today the chips and peas were tepid and cold and the fish was small. We ate on the prom . Disappointing .They are usually very good but not a cheap meal so expect hot and fresh .

Save your money Paid £15.50 for 2 lots of chips and sauce which is bad enough to start with, we then had to wait 20 minutes to actually get the chips. The chips were then tasteless and soggy and the sauces were vile, the curry sauce looked like it had come from a packet mix and the taste was nothing like a normal chip shop curry sauce, overall just a very bad experience

Great chips, and fish lovely. Sensible portion sizes. Only issue is tiny wooden forks make eating fish a challenge!

Chips were great and the service was excellent. Giving four stars because I think it’s a little pricy for what it is… had to pay £1 for one pot of ketchup. It was nice enough and right by the sea.

This is a very hit and miss take away for me, sometimes the cod is fabulous and other times not so great, meaning, more batter than cod. The portion sizes are good and it is about £14 for cod and chips. I do think it’s great they have a gluten free menu and if you sign up to their email you get a free voucher on your birthday, it used to be free cod and chips, it then went to pollock and chips and then £10 off on your birthday. I have been eating here since it first opened and I do recommend their menu. I love the fact they sell doggy ice cream. The staff are always friendly and very welcoming.

I have enjoyed many fish and chips portions but today having paid £10 was a massive let down. The fish was very thin covered in thick batter the chips were just very day bits hard with sharp edges. They were tasteless and I threw the lot in the bin. The last time I had fish and chips they were wonderful, but today was an absolute let down.

Best chippie in Penzance!! We really enjoyed this one and will be back again before we go home!. Also the curry sauce was spot on!!

Lovely selection on their menu. Enjoyed the Garlic Mushrooms that came with a large pot of Garlic Mayonnaise too ! Will be returning soon !

We happened to be passing by and saw the queue in front of the house. One look at the food and the clean kitchen, the friendly staff was enough for us to order. We had a large portion of fries and a large cod, including mushy peas. We ate on a bench overlooking the water and what can I say: everything was delicious and we really enjoyed it. An absolute recommendation from us!

How does a fish and chips shop run out of chips and fish!?!

We ordered fish and chips for the first time on our recent Cornwall excursion and were not disappointed. Regular cod and chips were large portions and of excellent quality. Ordering was easy and staff were well mannered. Couldn't fault the take away experience.

Brought my son and I an ice cream from here today. Got outside and my son’s ice cream scoop fell off the cone straight on the floor. I was ready for disaster! The lovely lady came straight out with a fresh scoop in a tub for him. Omg saved my day!!! Thank you 🙏🏽

You can’t beat fish and chips by the sea, and as a Yorkshireman I know how important it is to serve the best fish and perfectly cooked chips. Fraser’s did not disappoint, the queue outside told me how popular the place was. The staff were so polite, having a laugh with me regarding my strong accent. The fish was as white as snow, the batter flavoursome and crispy. The chips were perfect and the peas were lovely, the colour pease should be without loads of food colouring. Well done to all concerned. I’ll be calling again next year!!!

Stopped for a fish & chips takeaway at 5.45, cod bite’s & chips for 2. Not the usual excellent food from Fraser’s, this was inedible, fish bites were crispy but inside were soggy and tasted of oil, half the chips were black inside and the ones that were ok were hard. Always come here when in penzance but will give it a miss in future. Would have returned with them but we were staying out of town, so most of it went in the bin. Wanted to phone and complain but no signal. £20 out of pocket.

Family of 3 on a Holiday from the US. We had Fraser's fish and chips 2 nights in a row! Love the cod bites, mozzarella sticks, fish cake and the Haddock! Best fish and chips in England, hands down! Chips are not greasy... get a curry sauce on the side, they go well together... Or salt & vinegar... Whatever floats your boat!

No disabled access. Steps, no ramps offered or looking available. Had I been unable to lift my walker (no help offered) up two or three steps I'd have had to shout to order. Staff to busy being jolly with each other to concentrate. Fish oily. Chips foul. Undercooked and raw in the middle. Scampi nothing special. Curry sauce possibly curried gravy. Very disappointed. Especially as had heard good things.

Disappointing. Have had food from here a couple of times and have enjoyed it but today the Fish was oily and chips were bland. Hopefully just bad luck but won't returning to find out

£25.00 for two fish and chips. Stupidly overpriced, small fish, chips were not crispy, tasted like the frying oil was way over due and needed changing. Like I said, stupidly overpriced, especially catered for the tourists.

Really busy, couldn't see the menu until you being served & you were rushed, music blaring, you had to repeat yourself. Really bad tasting fish & chips due to dirty fat. Very disappointed most of it got binned. Was hoping to find a traditional fish & chip shop in the area. 😠
