This appears to be one of the most popular fish and chips shops in Falmouth. We used it for takeaway. The service was reasonably quick and the fish was nicely cooked, the chips however were a bit soggy and certainly not the best that we have had. The price was about the same as for other chippies in the area.

Had haddock and chips as a take away today 30/8/24. Dined here before, food was great then. Today is was abysmal. Chips tasted awful. Whether it was dirty oil or what I couldn't say but it left a disgusting after taste and chips had to be thrown away. Even the seagulls weren't interested. Fish was ok ish. Would not eat there again.

The cod fish was good but they should improve on the chips as it tastes unfrozen and used oil. I would also think with that price they should include the peas, which is extra charge if you need it. Service was unbelievable. They are serving you late, very slow and unhappy staff. We were waiting to pay but nobody came after 30 min, so we went to the tilt to pay. The location and the view are excellent.

After a long day walking around Falmouth this is the kinda place you want to end the day off with or even start it off with. Me and my father did the latter. I found the service very nice and enjoyable. You could either order at the counter as you normally do or you could of used a machine to take a order. Very easy and simple to understand. The wait time really depends on how busy it is like most places however I find this place to be one of the faster ones when it comes to getting food out even when busy. The priority to this fish shop seems to be the take out rather then the dine in experience as there is a slight waits when dining in.

Well I have to say I nearly fainted when I got the bill last night. I had a small fish and chips, where the battered fish was the size of a fish finger, and about a dozen chips. My husband had a standard fish and chips, and we both had mushy peas. I had one glass of wine (which tasted cheap) and my fiancé had a coffee coffee and it was just short of £50. How is that even possible?! We are locals and it was nice for a treat, but at the end of the day it is fish and chips!! Far too expensive for what we got. Xx

As a previous review has said, they manage to make the chips not taste of potato! And this is every time so not a one off, bad batch thing. Over a period of about 3-4 years as we stopped going, then tried them again. Tried this week (august 2024) only to be dissappointed again. Wouldn't bother unless you're desperate.

Large cod & Chips Curry sauce & Tea £20 Seriously I had to hunt for the chips on my plate. 3 bits of fish split. And half a pot of tea. Servers was absolutely useless. More interested in social life and reality shows over this week. I understand nobody likes working. But come on seriously a little pride in your job. I’ve had better fish & chips else where. View over the harbour is breathtaking. Can’t knock that. But smaller portions and more money. Piss take if you ask me. Oh last but not least Tartar sauce is not homemade anymore. Extremely bland food. I ordered the plaice with large chips, it looked pretty good at a glance but the chips were clearly a little soggy and had not been freshly cooked. The fish tasted like it had been sat under a running hose pipe for the last day, and all flavour had washed out. Nice texture, but absolutely zero flavour to it. Batter was a nice texture, but again very lacking in flavour. Chips has clearly been under a heat lamp for a small amount of time, as they were soggy and flaccid. They also somehow made the chips not taste of potato, which I find genuinely Incredible. The atmosphere was nice and friendly, as we're the servers. Its also a pretty nice location, and has a good view if you get the right seats. Definitely would not recommend based off of what I tried, but my friend had the same issue with the haddock. Incredibly bland food, and I've had much better in landlocked counties. If it was £10 all in I wouldn't complain as a hungry person who's been in the water for the last couple hours, but for ~£21 pp for fish and large chips, it's quite insane.

I liked the food ok, the chips could have been done better but they were ok. However, the 'regular' haddock apparently comes in one size only - and that size is 2 massive pieces of fish. In a world where food is wasted constantly, our oceans are overfished and people are suffering with obesity, I find this ridiculous. I visited with friends and each of us had the same experience - at least half of the food was wasted.

Live around here so I’ve been a few times, got it today but seeing as it’s half term and the tourists are here the quality was really bad, most of the chips were either raw or wet and the fish portion was a lot smaller than if I went out of season, seems as if they just want to scam holiday goers who probably wont return which is a real shame, so in other words if your visiting in the “holiday season” give it a miss because the quality is disappointing

The burger bun was tiny, the inside of the burger bun I can only assume is meant to be toasted, however mine was more charcoal than toasted. The lettuce was also discoloured and the sauce tasted nothing like sweet chilli. At nearly £8 for the burger I was mortified at what I received. Onto the chips, reasonable portion size for the price, however almost 2/3 of the chips weren’t cooked properly, some were green in colour, and others still had bad bits on them. It’s a shame because this place used to be a little gem that served some of the best fish and chips around.

We love coming to the Harbour Lights when ever we are on holiday in Cornwall. We usually manage to come several times a year. This visit was very disappointing and probably our last. Everything had shrunk dramatically, except the prices. I can’t usually finish a portion of their regular fish so decided to have a small. Not so much small as microscopic. It was also the first time we ordered more chips as they were rather scant. My tiny portion still cost £12.95. £19.99 for my husbands no no bargain I had a deluxe hot chocolate. Twice. It was basically brown water and revolting. Needless to say I refused to pay although they did their best to get me to. It was nicely cooked but very disappointing.

Takeaway order, my fish was hot but soft, not remotely crispy. Chips were soft, one was raw. Server broke my fish in half and it fell out onto the counter while preparing my order, then picked it back up with tongs and smushed it back in the box. Someone had picked up the wrong order and returned it after opening it up away from the restaurant, staff then handed this order to the correct person without commenting on the mistake. This person later returned their order as it wasn't fresh. Didn't appear that the staff apologised? My mum's fish was cold and I'm worried we got the fish that was returned twice... Pretty unhappy, this place is usually good, but the service tonight soured what was supposed to be a treat for dinner.
