Really tasty fish and chips, no matter where in the area we stay, we always go to this fish and chips!

Great fish and chips! Just what we needed after a very very long drive to Cornwall, would highly recommend. Note (ours at least) were a little heavy on the salt, so if you're sensitive to that perhaps ask). Otherwise, lovely batter, tasty chips, amazing curry sauce 👍

What chip shop don't sell savoly. Also who runs out of pies on a Saturday evening. Then to top it off the gentleman wouldn't accept our cash said it is dodgy. Then smirking behind the counter. Also served other people before us..very rude, embarrassing and intimidating

Nearest car park gets fill quickly. Be prepared for a long wait. Food is good. Place is clean.

Lovely family run local fish and chip shop just a few minutes drive from Holywell beach. Tasty food and friendly service. The kids meals are really good, especially the cod and chips, which comes with 4 or 5 battered pieces of fish without any skin or bones. Definitely a favourite in our family and big enough to satisfy most kid's appetites (and some adults too!!!). Limited opening hours, but well worth planning a visit for when they are open. There is usually some on road parking nearby and a few off road parking spaces opposite.

We discovered the Village Chip Shop by chance and were really pleased that we did. Service was fast and friendly and the food was great. Would highly recommended a visit!

Wow, this is the place to get your fish and chips if you are staying at Holywell Bay. Fantastic, very busy, but definitely worth the wait, everything freshly cooked and delicious 😋

Came here as it was the only place open past 8pm. We absolutely loved it, clean battered fish, lovely scampi, mushy peas were divine and curry sauce too. We will definitely be back next year for our holiday.

A small menu but everything is cooked to order and delicious EDIT. Went again this year and if this is possible it was even better

First time visiting the fish and chips are one of the best we have had great portion sizes and we tried Irish curry sauce for the first time. Will definatly be revisiting in Sept.

One of the best fish and chips I've ever had. Bought to go and sit on the beach with of an evening.The batter was crisp and not soggy at all. The chips were cooked to perfection. The price was also surprising, not as much as some other shops I've visited that weren't half a good. Will definitely return.

Overly expensive £10 for two mediocre size ‘boxes’ of shrivelled dark brown chips - capture market I suspect to fleece the tourists and locals having no alternative.

Incredible food, never disappoints. Scampi was cooked to perfection as always and my son always loves his chicken chunks! Wonderful friendly staff! We’re so lucky to have this chippy in our village!

The food was incredible, as you would expect fish and chips by the sea to be amazing and fresh. But I can honestly say it was probably the best fish and chips I've ever eaten!! the homemade Irish curry sauce to go with it was just delicious. All around a great meal and would definitely go out of my way when down south again to come here specifically for the fish and chips !

Food was lovely and cooked fresh, so didn't mind the short wait. As well as the fish and chips which were great, they had some nice sides such as chilli and salt chicken nuggets which were a nice extra.

Always visit this chippie when we visit Cornwall from London. Never fails to deliver. Very busy though so be prepared for a short wait but it's well worth it.

£27 for take away fish chips and peas for two is expensive. There is better for a lot less in Newquay.

Overall a decent chippy. Fish was very nice, with good crispy batter and was of a excelling volume. The chips were numerous and were on the larger side. Plus were crunchy but containing enough potato. But.. The biggest crime ( more of a violation against the country) was the lack of gravy. I know any northerners reading this might have have fainted but it's true, sadly this treasonous decision is the thing keeping the village chip shop from being 5 stars.

Great fish and chips and fast service

We’re staying at the not too far away Trevornick with our little 2year old boy and on our last night he was wiped out more than usual as the week caught up with him, so rather than eat out as we had planned we decided to get fish & chips from our nearest spot and have them back at our caravan. But by happy accident the fish and chips were excellent, just as good if not better than the meals we have had this week. The fish was cooked fresh to order and a very decent size, the little lad had the children's fish pieces. I would absolutely recommend. (I’m sure the staff are great too but I spent my wait talking to a random local who was also in there!). This is the 4th time in 5years me and my partner have been down to Cornwall, the lads 2nd trip and we love it down here and another thing to add to the brilliant list.

Excellent quality. Fast and friendly service. Be sure to get in early as when we arrived no fish or pies. Only downside but I've been to this chip shop twice and both times no fish. It's the only place for a good while for a chippy so it's understandable.

Sadly we couldn't find a phone number, so had to just turn up with a huge order... We were a group of 14 people, all hungry! They coped perfectly, and the food was delicious!

Had cod and chips from here Friday night, eye-wateringly expensive and not the best. I know it's Cornwall and things tend to be a bit pricier, and I'm painfully aware that the cost of everything is on the rise, but £11.50?? I didn't even get any extras either. The fish was OK but on the small side, but it was obvious that the chips had been cooked a while - they were only just warm and starting to go bendy. £7.50 in my local chippy in Lancashire gets me a fish which is fresher and twice the size, and hot, crispy chips. In summary - there's better in the area, but given the fact that I'd just driven for 7 hours straight and needed a quick meal, it had to do if I was to avoid having to go back into Newquay.

greeted well, asked if two small portions made a bigger size than large. she said il show you. from under counter she scooped large portion in cardboard box. displayed it to me. upon my view and decision. Two other customers before me. I waited very little time my option 1 large was sufficient. we had a samon back at caravan. the chips were great. Good review from us. D & H. il be back.

Don't believe the negative reviews. Prices compatible with the local Chip Shop back home (£12-ish) as is the waiting time. Chips are great as is the fish. Will be back,next time we're in the area 👍

This is the best chippy in the vicinity. The chippy chips are exactly how they should be, and the fish is big and well cooked. A light batter rather than a big greasy lump. Best ever curry sauce . Staff are all friendly, and I fancy the manager / bloke that owns it. Haha!

Myself and my wife visited the village chippy twice while on holiday. The staff were amazing and so friendly. The food was cooked to order, the cod melted in the mouth the batter was perfect and the portions very generous. This is the best chippy in Cornwall and we will be back Ps can you move the shop to Reading 😁👍👍

Stopped on the way back from work to grab something to eat going through Cubert. The staff are very friendly and lovely. Ordered our food which was cooked fresh in front of us. Good sized portions and use boxes instead of paper which is a great idea. Food was excellent and probably the best I've tasted in Kernow

Chips were great. Shop was very busy and they had unfortunately ran out of cod.

Visited for last day of holiday, really enjoyed the food. Wish we had gone more than once. Highly recommended.

My partner and I popped in here to grab some fish n chips. As we were staying at the holywell Bay caravan park, down the road. And my goodness, Mmm...fantastic fish n chips! Lovely white fish and perfect chips. And you can get a phone signal if you need to check on your phone lol Would definitely recommend this chippy, we will be going back, for sure, so thank you

My wife and I bought two large cod and chips from here during our trip to Cornwall. When I opened the box the food comes in I thought it was a joke, the fish was ridiculously thin, barely any batter and super super salty. The chips were ok, hence the 2 stars, but the fish was a major disappointment - especially considering the price. I don't usually write reviews but felt compelled on this occasion.

Was ok however, for a chippy near the coast I'd expect the fish to be bigger than I get in the chippys in the Midlands. The fish we were given was what we call mini fish in the Midlands and it was more expensive too however, the taste was still there and the chips were ok

The best fish and chips ever! Good portions and incredible taste. Fresh white cod, lovely crisp batter. We visit every time were in Cornwall. This time we drove 40 miles from where we were staying just to get decent fish and chips. Would give 10 stars if I could!

2nd time been to Holywell and decided to try this chippy. Complete rip off! I get its cornwall but JEEZE! Just over £45 the most ive ever paid for a chippy and Id of expected alot more for that! Large chips were size of a small, the mini fish and chips literally had a handful of chips in and chicken nuggets were over done. Wont ever be going there again! Could of had a sit down meal for that! (Also ordered 7 large sausages wasnt informed they didnt have any, ended up with 14 small sausages which were way too many, if Id know Id of ordered fewer) only got a 2 star as it tasted nice, not the best ive had.

Sizeable fish,large chips plus chicken strips and large chips. Tasty but a little overpriced. Very busy which is always a good sign.

Had to have Cod as don't do Haddock but have to say it was lovely, grandson disappointed as don't do savaloy so got him chicken nuggets sorry to say he didn't like them, so he ended up eating half my fish. Would be helpful if picture of menu was on line

Disappointed Had the best fish and chips last year; gone back this year and first day of the week they are open and no fish nor peas. Left to go back to caravan for toast for dinner :-(

Just had brilliant fish and chips for my Friday night meal. The chip shop has, for the last ten years, been really good and now Ryan and Katie are carrying on the tradition.

We've been visiting Cornwall for 10+ Years and Cubert Fish and Chip shop is by far the best one we have experienced, so much so, we always now order from here (sometimes twice during our week's holiday :-)). Chips are always plentiful and the fish is always fresh and big!! Also, the curry sauce is just like our local Fish and Chip shop at home, amazing! Looking forward to returning soon.

Absolutely brilliant food and service. We were there on holiday, had a very large order, we picked it up at the exact time agreed, it was still hot when we got back home and it was so delicious. The spring rolls were amazing!! Everybody commented on the delicious fish and curry sauce, we will be back next time we are down xxx
