We celebrated New Year’s Eve here the food was delicious, sitting at the bar and talking to the chefs while they cooked dinner was entertaining, also the bar is a communal experience where everyone is your friend

After an impromptu and very nice meal here as a couple last year, we came back with our family this time. It was a disappointing experience throughout. Packed in tables - barely room to move in and out of seats. Dogs are allowed, which would be fine if there was room for them. To get to the toilet I had to step over a dog and its towel - and the staff had to do the same to serve us. Our pre-booked table of 5 saw us sitting down 1 half of what must normally be a large square table for 8, with another family on the opposite side. To fit in, one of us had to sit on the very corner legs straddling the table leg. Not great for socialising with our family who we see twice a year and somewhat ruined our experience. Spent most of my time listening to our neighbours conversation. Service felt disjointed and not well oiled. Arrived to used glasses on the table. Had to ask for menus. Food came out in bits with the staff appearing to serve other tables in-between. Food was fine. But felt overpriced for the portions, surroundings and atmosphere. Very strange seafood pizza, which was served with muscles and prawns still in shells… so you had to deconstruct the pizza to eat it. Probably won’t come back, which is a shame.

This place hit the spot after the days travel. Enjoyed the scallops and clam linguine. Not too heavy on the digestive tract and delightful.

I was going to give 3.5 for the food but I gave a 4 because the second thing I ordered made up for the first. The overcooked seafood in the spicy cioppino that doesnt come with garlic bread was disappointing but the shrimp scampi was delicious. The wine was great and so was the desserts. The service could be better. Our waitress was good but I had to go get my own high chair from the back because the hostess forgot twice. They forgot the garlic bread I ordered which was ok because I sent the cioppino back. They brought us 2 instead of 1 plate of the dish we ordered for our kids. The small outdoor patio was nice and relaxing.

Went in today to eat and I ordered a fettuccine pasta and I requested no broccoli or mushroom as well as the other person with me. I can't have broccoli because I get really bad reaction to it. I was sitting at the bar and we heard the cook making comments about our request and laughing about the fact we requested no broccoli or mushrooms. Idk what's so funny about it. What kind of service is that. They knew we could hear them because they were staring at us this is the worse experience I've had apparently it's so funny to make modifications to MY FOOD that I AM PAYING. Seriously it's ridiculous I hope they get dealt with. $84 for this kind of treatment and experience is crazy. The cooks were talking about us in Spanish not knowing we understood them completely the disrespect is mind blowing.

Great food, excellent service, friendly staff. Reservations on weekends are recommended.

This place is a delight. Fantastic bright and airy interior. The seaside theme inside is done really well. The food was delicious but what made the difference was the warm and cheerful welcome and service provided by the young man who served us - well done. We will be back.

Best seafood in town! The staff is wonderfully attentive. The food is always amazing and consistent. They offer a great selection of local wine. The chefs are the best! And if you're seated at the bar you can watch as they make the tastiest edible creations. SO DELICIOUS! We're locals and this is our favorite spot. The halibut florentine is a must or blackened halibut too!

We popped down from our hotel spur of the moment on a Staurday evening. Greeted with a smile and shown to a nice big table at the back. Muscles were beautiful, salt and pepper squid had a nice kick. Then from the specials board, a lovely Thai fish curry and whole grilled place. Really fresh tasting and served beautifully. Service was jolly and welcoming, definitely a great find!

Incredible experience at Catch. It was recommended by our tour guide at Eberle Vineyard and we are so glad we went and sat at the bar. All around 5 star experience. Highly recommend.

I love The Catch! I had the Chilean seabass last night - incredible! If there's just one or two of you, I recommend sitting at the kitchen bar. Chico (the owner) and Martin will take good care of you!

Casual lunchtime walk in..great chap found us a table..ordered a bottle of rosé and 2 bowls of St Austell bay mussels..well FML. 75% oh them were stuck to the inside of there shells, making me think they had been hanging around a while..pointed it out offered 10% off the bill..I'm like wtf..£22 each .remove £44 before I get animated..which happened....great spot dreadful mussels in Cornwall! How do you not get fresh mussels in Cornwall they grow on the rocks FFS .hope I survive the night and will be er go here again.

Decidedly average. Having visited Catch before we had high hopes. However, it was all very average. Food was bland, atmosphere was non existent, service while polite was nothing special unlike previous visits. The desserts were awful and the whole thing was very expensive for what it was. Once upon a time it was worth the premium, but not any more. We won’t be back.

Great food, lovely location, very nice service

Great grub. Busy and noisy but man oh man the food! Had blackened salmon, wife had ahi, both delish!

This was our second time here. We had dinner outside, and the food was just as good as the first time.

Mediocre food, service ok (though one waitress literally threw our cutlery on the table… and quite obviously didn’t want to be there). Food is very overpriced, the 1/2 lobster could fit in the palm of my hand, and the sticky toffee pudding lacked in flavour and had obviously been heated up in the microwave. Staff started sweeping and cleaning up while we were still eating (20:45 on a Sunday), making us feel rushed and somewhat unwelcome. We have been a few times in the past and always had a fantastic experience. It seems as if the quality has slipped considerably.

We come here every year, but sadly this will be our last visit. Arrived at 6.45pm for 7pm sitting to be greeted by ‘there’s going to be delay as we had a table of 14 turn up’ we were a table of 7. We settled in and eventually ordered drinks. Menu was the same as last year, which was a shame. Especially as there was no squid, lobster or any steak available. Quite incredible so early into the service! The burger was inedible, over cooked and dry. The chowder had over cooked dry white fish, no prawns and stringy samphire. When it came to puds, both panacoota & bread and butter pudding not available. No medi tonic for our gins on second round. ‘It’s the end of the season’ avoid an expensive experience.

The staff and owners always make you feel at home, like it's your first time here. We've been coming for years and the food/atmosphere is always consistent. We've never had a bad meal and most are over the top. Request Florentine style when ordering fish. You won't be disappointed. In this photo, we had blackened lingcod and beef stroganoff! Muy fantastico!

Truly exceptional dining experience! Well prepared and delicious food. The service was fantastic and the prices were amazingly reasonable given the tremendous quality! Love this place and we will be back!

First time here and was told to sit at the bar to watch the chefs cook. Ordered the Halibut Florentine special and a glass of wine. Wasn't too crowded as it was still early. Watching the two chefs working the line was a treat. They vlesy enjoy what they do and we're very good. They have their routine down and are very in sync. My meal came and it was delicious. Fish was very moist and sauce was really good. Would definitely come back here.

I had lamb chops and they were grilled to perfection. I would recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be going back.

Had high expectations based on reviews and recommendations. Service was great. Nice wine list and selection. Clams were tasty, a bit of zing. Bass and scampi was over cooked and flavorless. Same with lobster. For the price I would say a pass next time in town. Disappointed, especially given the price. Maybe an off night.

Had crab cake appetizers that were burnt on the bottom and didn’t taste like crab at all. Not worth the price. Very expensive.

Great service …Great Location in Downtown Paso Robles But the chef over cooks the fish

The food is always spectacular, sitting at the bar is fun to watch them create their magic. Excellent choices on the menu and lovely wine options to go with everything.

Party of 7 and none were disappointed. Escargot were perfectly cooked and well seasoned which can be difficult for many places. All appetizers and mains were delicious and wait staff were amazing.

Food was delicious and the staff was very friendly.

The scampi & scallops combo with spaghetti were amazing. Our server was very nice! Highly recommend.

The food was delicious. I had the seafood pasta and my husband had the blackened salmon. So good! We sat at the bar to get the experience of the chefs making the food. Would recommend bar seating.

This a quite a wonderful restaurant in downtown Paso Robles. It’s very chic, and in an area that has a number of nice restaurants and bars. I was able to sit a the bar, which is one of the best places to sit, as you can see the cooks cooking each meal. What strikes me is that there is nothing really “fancy” about the cooking. Just quality, fresh ingredients, seasoned to perfection, by experts who know how to cook. I had the filet mignon, but the seafood plates looked and smelled amazing. The staff is friendly and professional. This is where the locals come. If you are in the area, or passing by, definitely stop here. You will have one of the best meals of your life.

Ordered the salmon on catch of the day, here is my take. A major flag on the fish... Tartar sauce on my plate, that's something you see on McDonald's filet-o-fish and dive bars fish & chips, but again salmon had no taste or flavors so I used it. Maybe use balsamic glaze? Or hire a chef with ambition? Potatoes, If you remove mashed potatoes(bad idea) from the menu, at least use gold potato's and season them with lemon garlic butter or Chipotle or other type of seasoning. Colorless, tasteless bland sad potatoes! Vegetables were ok. Was planning to order creme burle but wasn't sure if I wanted any more disappointment. Portion is too small with no filler or anything tasty to eat really, left hungry and got In-n-out on the way back to the hotel, my glass of wine was the best part of this dinner. Service was ok. Hate to leave negative reviews like this but experience was too bad. Would not return.

Incredible meal and great service. Definitely recommend sitting at the bar and watching the chefs work. Cheap corkage to bring in wine bottles. Everything we ordered was great, but I particularly loved the halibut and sea bass.

Great place to stop. Had a very good experience. Dinner was phenomenal. Had Crab cakes for App. and Shrimp Alfredo as entree. I would definitely recommend it to anyone..

The food was good. The owner was very personable. And everybody was working really hard. I had the calamari steak. It was wonderful My wife made her The escargot. It was wonderful.

Fresh and tasty seafood at this local restaurant located in the heart of Paso Robles close to shops and theater. It has extensive menu and daily catch specials. Reservations for parties of 4 or more are recommended as it is not too big with seating for approximately 45 people. The counter is the spot to sit if you are a couple or dining by yourself as you have front row view of all the cooking activities. The staff is friendly but quite stretched and busy at peak hours.

Well cooked food, service better than last time but just OK. Think they need a menu reprint to adjust the price of the whole Lobster down from £75!!!! To somewhere nearer £60. Quite how they can justify the price point (which is higher than Rick Stein) in this venue is beyond me. Beware!!!!!

Absolutely delicious fresh seafood! Romero the chef did an excellent job.

A lovely spot with great sea views. We had a table with a sea view and right next to the river also. Friendly staff, lovely food, a little more expensive than some places but we expected that for the location. Nice relaxing ambience with some good music being played at the time. Also very friendly manager/ owner ( we think he was! ) with a great sense of humour. Not fast food/ service but worth waiting for and not a problem for us.

Being in North Cornwall again we had to make a return visit to this restaurant. It does exactly what it says on the label. Provide superb high-quality fresh fish and seafood in a beautiful setting overlooking the beach and outstanding beauty. We kicked off by trying the oysters which were lovely and then had different starters, one the home-made cream of tomato soup and the other some fresh prawns. Both of us then followed up with the catch of the day fish and chips which was outstanding. If only all fish was battered this way. The service was excellent once again, and we will definitely be returning and would make it a recommendation for anybody else in the area

One year later and a second trip to Catch Seafood Bar & Grill. They got us in quick and got us our drinks, but that's about where it ends. They didn't want to sit us at the bar even though there were a few spaces. They sat us at a table off to the side, which wasn't bad. However, we started noticing that people at the bar were getting priority service over everyone else. After 50 min I said enough, and we got up. The cook and manager realized what they were doing and tried to tell me they were starting our order. We walked out. It was a horrible restaurant moment, and I will never go back there again. Went down the street to Stokehouse and had a good dinner. The Catch got me in a crappy mood for a bit, but I got over it.

We were very disappointed with their new portion sizes and the quality of the food. The catch of the day main course arrived as ‘starter’ portion size - smallest fish that could’ve been gone 3 bites, and no other side dishes apart from chips and green sauce was he fish was placed on. When we asked the manager he said this is the fish size I am afraid and I can change to another dish, I opted for fish and chips (this is what my partner had) and the manager removed the plate and I ended up waiting 15 minutes for the fish and chips while my partner was eating his. It’s a terrible customer service as the manager simply should’ve either taken of £5 or similar from the bill or offer me and extra chips or a side dish instead of removing my main meal immediately with an attitude. He then accepted my fish was very small and added that fish prices gone up very much! We won’t be back!

We visited as a couple 20th April.. After a positive visit last year we were looking forward to our evening meal.. Upon arrival we were seated on a table what can only be described at the walkway, the tables were crammed far to close together.. no chance to have a private conversation in a busy restaurant when you could reach the salt and pepper from the table next to you. My partner chose the “catch of the day” which was fillet of hake.. when it arrived it was absolutely tiny, 3 mouthfuls at best for £23.. they need a better fisherman, or to rename the restaurant from “catch” to “the one that got away”.. it was at best a good starter.. We complained and switched to fish and chips.. again another disappointment at £20 as it looked like it came from a supermarket packet.. frustratingly opposite was a very good fish a chip takeaway, 1/2 the price double the quality.. Sadly we won’t be back..

Set overlooking a quiet(ish) bay, this is a stunning location. The menu is varied and the food we had (linguine and a coconut curry) were amazing. The staff were really helpful and friendly. Never felt rushed or unwelcome. A great find and throughly recommend visiting.

We have been wanting to visit for ages & finally got the opportunity today. We were a walk in reservation & were seated quickly. We soon realised that there was a very unpleasant smell in the restaurant & it was very cold (bourne out by people dining with their coats on). We ordered starters which took almost 30mins to arrive. The Frito Misto was cold, not crispy & the fish over cooked (2 pieces of fish & 6 frozen prawns) & there was a random chip on the plate! My husband ordered the mussels . This came with half a Brioche burger bun & he discovered random linguini in the dish! We fed this back to the server. Our main courses arrived, the chowder was the same sauce as the mussels, just with some other fish in it & the potatoes were only just cooked. The crab linguini was probably the best dish of the four, but could’ve been seasoned much better. The bread served with both our main courses was stale. Love the idea of using oyster shells as condiment dishes, until we saw a server scooping up spilt salt & pepper from the table & putting it back into the shells. Disappointed & wouldn’t recommend.

Only called in for coffee as we were passing on a rainy Sunday and wanted a coffee and hot chocolate as a pick me up. Hot drinks were great, really liked the decor and the smells coming out of the kitchen were delicious and we may have stayed for food if they weren't fully booked. However the main reason for the review was the staff, in the short time I was there got a real sense that what makes this place a success is the people running it. Hopefully I remembered the names right but Lyn and Mary keep being your wonderful selves and Chris one day soon with your hard work that garden you long for won't just be a dream.

We came here in October and loved it so thought when I was in Cornwall for my 40th we would visit again. How I wish we didn’t. Booked a table for 6.30 as we had young kids with us so wanted to make sure we were early. Waited 1 hour 40 mins for starters and after asking multiple times kept getting told they were on their way or the staff just walked past us with their heads down. When the starters arrived the sea salt and rosemary focaccia wasn’t available but instead of being told that, was given what seemed like supermarket bought bread. The seafood chowder was like milk and the children’s garlic bread that came 15 mins after everything else was dripping in butter and raw. After waiting ages then for our mains and us then going to tell the staff that if we didn’t get our main by 9 o’clock we would be leaving we then got told the food was on its way. The burger was dry, steak was ordered rare and came like a piece of shoe leather and was more than well done, onion rings were raw and dripping with grease. Kids pasta and kids fish and chips was ok, adult fish and chips was fine but nothing special especially for a fish restaurant, The staff didn’t really seem surprised that there were issues and turned the background music up to disco levels, possibly to drown out the complaints from customers. I left after not eating as wasn’t going to wait for them to cook me another steak as I’d had enough. If they had addressed the issues and apologised then it would have been better but they didn’t, Such a shame as last year was great but I cannot recommend this place at all.

Popped here for lunch but very disappointing meal with dirty tables surrounding us, seagulls everywhere. Very off putting we had mediocre starters and left. Staff couldn't care less and really shouldn't be front of house

Just popped in for a coffee and a soft drink after a cliff walk. Service okay but was charged £6.00 for a glass of lemonade. I queried it when the bill arrived but I was assured that was right. I looked at their menu online when home and it should have been £3.50. Really disappointed.

Stumbled across this in Mawgan Porth we weren't disappointed. Bright welcoming decor was matched by the staff. We had two dogs with us who were made equally welcome. The food was superb prepared by a clearly talented young chef. We had fish and chips, catch of the day (Hake) a pizza and burger ALL of which were excellent. Highly recommended!

Lovely relaxed atmosphere and great food. The fish and chips were basically the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a LOT. Definitely worth a visit.

We arrived at the restaurant on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was quiet with only two other customers , we ordered our food and 20 minutes later we were told one of our starters were not available we were given the option at this point to have the food free we however declined as we wouldn’t expect anything free, around 10 mins later my oysters arrive. Best in mind at this point it’s been half an hour and my husband hasn’t eaten. We were then told 15 mins later that my husband’s main course wasn’t available so he opted for a pizza, I had the fish and seafood dish. The mains came out both which were inedible. Service was non existent, the oysters were lovely and the food that they actually cooked was diabolical. I hope this was a one off but unfortunately for us we won’t be revisiting

We sat at the bar which is in front of the kitchen. The men working were dedicated and diligent. The scallops were some of the best I’ve had but the shrimp were a bit overcooked. It was served over fettuccine with capers and a buch of other things. I’d order it again. Their seafood is excellent.

@catch_mawganporthbeach is no doubt the best seafood restaurant in the area. It's off-season, so it wasn't always open right now (Feb), but I'm so glad we were able to make time to eat here. I wasn't mega hungry, so I had the Cornish Dayboat broth....

Fantastic place to grab some top notch food!

Great seafood. Ambiance sitting at the bar is 6 feet from men cooking. Exciting at first. But after 15 minutes it takes away from a conversation or just enjoying the very good seafood. The table area looks depressing with poor decor.

Wine bottles on bar that are used for the pastas are filled up bottles with box cooking wine and it’s obvious (I saw staff filling them in the back). The service is subpar, generally overrated. Tables are really small so you’re very tight aswell

Chico and his staff always offer great food and service. No matter if you enjoy the conversation at the bar while watching the cooks, or sitting inside with a glass of wine, or sitting on the patio enjoying an appetizer while watching the passersby you will enjoy your experience. The food, you can always count on everything being fresh and cooked to perfection. The Catch Seafood Bar and Grill is worth every penny.
