The restaurant, now called Ogo, is excellent in terms of service, food and ambiance. The server was knowledgeable and responsive to dietary needs. We’ve been traveling in Southern England for a couple weeks, and this is the best restaurant during or travels.

Sadly not as good as last year and poor value for money. Before visiting we knew that it was a tasting menu and designed to showcase local produce. We were given a large price of bread each and then shared ‘starters’ which were no more than a mouthful each. I personally do not like mushrooms and was disappointed that the fish course was accompanied by mushrooms as well as the plant option being mushrooms, this only left venison as a choice for the main course. The venison was tasty but tiny. There were plenty of new potatoes accompanied by a herb sabayon sauce but it felt as though we were loaded with bread and potatoes to make up for the tiny starters and main course. Dessert consisted of one small piece of cheese, again disappointing. Sadly difficult to recommend Ogo to others.

Good points, service is good and a beautiful restaurant looking out to sea. After we stayed here last autumn we decided to come for dinner whilst on holiday in Mawgan Porth as we had really enjoyed the food last year. TBH I probably wouldn’t return to this restaurant now but may try the Wild cafe again. . On this occasion, I have to say I felt a bit cheated, I am 8 1/2 stone and 5’4 tall lady so for me to leave a restaurant still hungry is a disappointment, I came home and had toast! Food was ok but nowhere near as tasty as I experienced last year, starters okish, the best bit was the bread and cheese custard, my main of sea bass was so small, a little square of fish with some tasteless green sauce and foam and a few bits of shellfish, thank goodness we had three new potatoes each with our meal. Having requested a gluten free meal, I could not believe they served half the dessert, a ‘very’ small scoop of ice cream, they hadn’t replaced the gluten part with anything else, even doubled up on the ice cream or put some fruit on the plate, I didn’t notice this until I saw the table next to us being served theirs, the cheese was also a very small round slither of goat cheese too. We’re not big or greedy people so I suggest if you like a hearty meal don’t go. The waiter kindly removed the deserts from the bill but come on BSH, your diners shouldn’t be left hungry or feel cheated, fine dining or not.

We had one night included to have a romantic meal at the rebranded Ogo restaurant and they really made it a memorable special evening with great service, ambience and above all the food. They were happy to accommodate dietary requirements which they already where aware of and made slight variations on some of the set menu served from starters to mains. The food was exquisite, almost in the borderline if earning a Michelin star. Chef came and spoke to us near the end of the meal, as we were contemplating on booking another night's meal. He explained they decided on the menu not until later the following afternoon depending on he local produce they sourced and what would be available/delivered. That pretty much confirmed for us, the quality, care and detail to enjoy such excellent food. Can't wait to return to both hotel and restaurant

The atmosphere and vibes were comfortable, the table not so much. It was very around and it made it impossible to feel comfortable in. The food was very 5 star, small portions kind of food. Like a sample of things. You got planned starters, in-between things and desserts. Three of each and then you could taste them all. The main meal was just as small and you could choose what you wanted. It was a lovely valentine's day gift from my partner and I did enjoy the company and drinks. Wouldn't choose to dine here again as it isn't our thing. So if you prefer big heart meals, maybe this isn't the place for you, but it you love this kind of things, 100% give it a try. I will add that one of the dishes had a weird bug inside the salad serving and it put me off a bit. Didn't eat the dish and told the server right away. Very apologetic but that was it.

Very good and interesting 3 course meals. Cheese custard special. Some delicious flavours including the game tart, monkfish, bread and butter pudding, and the cheeses. My only criticism would be more meat for main course and less volume for the deserts.

Split decision tonight. My wife thought a 3.5 and me a 4.5. Her reasoning was seasoning a bit lacking, service particularly slow at start (20 mins a drink to get to us) and no info on the website that the regular dinner would not be available on a Saturday night in January only a no choice set 4 course tasting menu. For me I agree you have to keep your web page up to date but food wise what we had I thought was very good. The beetroot dish was excellent but the burnt cream was very neutral and added little to the dish. It tasted like clotted cream to us. A soft/goat cheese would have worked better in our opinion. Scallop was very good but a touch more seasoning would have made this a 10 out 10 dish. The Venison was very accurately cooked and we enjoyed the cabbage but cried out for more carb rather than a small splodge of purée. Great sauce. Honey parfait we both thought was very nice. Shout out to whoever baked the bread as it was epic as was the cep butter. Service was a tad erratic, lots of people around but not really observing what stage each table was at. So divided really. I would come back my wife would need a bit of convincing.

Food was absolutely delicious every night - we ate here 5 times and the menu changed every night. Good value for money, great service Special mention for George (the passionate Chef) and Louise (his wife and waitress/chef) - they make a great team and were so lovely.

This restaurant was the highlight of our trip to Bedruthan. Ate here twice, and was the best food I’ve eaten in a long time. I loved the concept of shared tapas-style starters, and also appreciated the generous side dishes that came with all the mains. Really excellent.

A solo Boardmaster mum relaxing whilst her daughter had festival fun. I sampled the full gambit of lunch, dinner and afternoon tea during my stay and not a crumb disappointed! Food was delicious, well thought out and responsibly sourced. A tall order to deliver. Staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing or uncomfortable. Lastly, the view is stunning and adds to the overall beauty of the place. Highly recommend.

There were some lovely things about our meal here. The mixed starters included some great cooking of local ingredients - notably the mushroom tapenade and the beetroot. Unfortunately the main courses were really disappointing. The portions were tiny (what looked like a third of a duck breast for the meet and a piece of sea bass no more than 5cm x 5cm. Worse though, was that the sea bass was ferociously over salted. I left half my piece and (very unusually for me) did tell the waitress when she asked how everything had been. She said she was sorry and would tell the when but that was that. No apology from the kitchen. No offer of taking the fish off the bill or a complementary drink. Left us feeling rather she’s done by after spending over £300 on a meal for five.

Fantastic food, only matched by the equally fantastic view and service. It was so refreshing to find a restaurant that championed local produce, without charging ridiculous prices. Each dish was beautifully presented and thoroughly enjoyable. Having the chef come out and explainthe provenance of the tapas starters was lovely and really added to our enjoyment of the evening. We'll definitely be back! Thank you!

First of all, the hotel is a bit remote from the usual tourism. But that doesn't detract from the ambience... Great effort is made to suggest a noble impression. First of all, the guest has to climb very far down stairs into the interior of the building and first pass two polite restaurant managers to finally get to the reserved table. You get a great, unobstructed view of Cornwall. Apart from the starter, the menu wasn't that great. The composition of the main course was rather unusual. It was also unusual that the starter was larger than the main course. Also that we could no longer get our chosen dessert, but a new menu card was presented. Sure, we felt comfortable, but I wasn't really thrilled...

Wow. I've never had a set menu before, I've always been a little scared that I may not like everything. However, everything was incredibly tasty even the things I wouldn't normally try. Yes, it was a little pricey but the quality of the food and service was outstanding. We'll be back!

So impressed with our evening at the Herring. Thought the Tapas starter was a great idea and each dish was delicious. Our mains were incredible and the presentation spot on. A massive thank you to our waiter, Sebastian for being so attentive. He made our night.

This set meal of £150 was included as part of our Bedruthan package however although the food was exceptional £180 for 3 without drinks seems a little pricey. However it’s wonderful food So if you fancy a blow out celebratory meal this is the place.

Visited with my partner as a surprise for my birthday. We were greeted and shown to our table by the front of house/waiter/smellier Ed. Ed was absolutely fantastic from start to finish, showing great attention to us and the other guests in the restaurant. I brilliant breakdown of the menu, the dishes, the ingredients as well as accompanying wines and drinks for each course. The food was beautifully presented and tasted great. Great food and great service. Thank you Ed!

I can’t sing the praises enough about the beautiful food we were served during our two night stay at Bedruthan! Yes a limited menu but that lead to a beautifully cooked and presented feast. The tapas style starter made your taste buds sing and we savoured every mouthful, this was accompanied by the most divine home baked sourdough. The main course didn’t disappoint either, melt in the mouth sirloin on the first night and divine duck on the second. Deserts were a feast for the eyes matched by their flavours. The two young chefs are an asset to Bedruthan along with the knowledgeable waiting staff and all the helpful friendly team at this lovely spa hotel. Highly recommend

Over priced and the chef is nowhere near talented enough to pull off the menu he advertises. I personally hate the fixed price for three courses and for the first three days we didn't visit because we couldn't find three courses we would choose. Eventually we succumbed but wish we hadn't. The starters are not a choice but instead a tapas so you are stuck with all four rather than able to choose the one you like. For us the lemon sole was a million miles too greasy in the Beurre noisette sauce. Even the veg was greasy. Finally, the dessert pastry could not be cut with a pneumatic drill.. the plate would succumb first. Poor value for half the price so definitely worth a miss. Go anywhere else.. even Mc Donald's...

Admittedly it looks rather tired on the exterior but a really lovely place with a beautiful position overlooking the sea. The reception staff were exceptional and we were so looking forward to our gift (a cream tea) Sadly that's where the positives end, the sandwiches were stale, the scones hard and dry as were many of the cakes. We were given a small pot of tea on arrival but no one came to ask if we would like another drink or ask how the food was. We were a fair size party and were really looking forward to our treat but I have to say, i was left very disappointed. Sadly I will not be returning for a second visit.

Massively overpriced. Tiny and I mean tiny portions. My main was half a mushroom, 2 slices of sweet potato and a bit of creamed polenta which was cooked and that's about all I can say about it really. Nothing special. There's much better places to eat around this area.

Good quality food, but for the price I'd expect higher. Service was good, but not exceptional. Starters were lovely. Mains were excellent. All portions modest in size. We had chocolate coffee fondant which was acceptable but unremarkable. Also brie & crackers. Brie was a large slice at fridge temperate, with two tiny crackers. Which would be acceptable from Wetherspoons at £2.49 a portion, but this is not Wetherspoons, and is not £2.49. Overall value: average.

We ordered lobster roll expecting some beautifully presented lobster curled round a tasty dressing. What turned up was a scant tablespoon of chopped overcooked lobster in a cold, cheap, tasteless white finger roll of bread that would have disgraced the bargain shelf of the cheapest supermarket. It was inedible. The side of hispi cabbage was well cooked, thankfully, or I would have left feeling very hungry. There are no loos. You have to use the dimly lit and droughty public loos in the adjacent council carpark. This is possibly the worst restaurant in St. Ives.

Such a warm welcome from everyone and enjoyed seeing the locals at the bar laughing and enjoying themselves, a real feel of Cornish community about the place. Extensive menu so you don’t have to just stick to fish and chips, fish pie, curried cod and prawns to name but a few other choices. If you can get a window seat above the old lifeboat launch ramp do it. Enjoyed our meal here and a must visit if you are in the area.
