The Prince Albert in Camden

Avoid this pub. I live in the neighborhood. We went in for Sunday Roast. The two girls on staff clearly did not want to be there (who could blame them). We were the second table to order when the kitchen opened. We waited 75 minutes for food, and then we were told it would be another 30 minutes minimum. We couldn’t even get starters in less than 1h and 45 minutes. Staff was unapologetic, and told us we could leave and they would refund our food. So we left.

This review is from August 21st. I had forgot to post a review, I can’t say how the food is now however I wanted to share my feedback about the fish and chips. I can be a bit of a food snob and I’m rather particular, however I was pretty happy. The piece of fish I had was battered to perfection. Super crisp batter with a moist flaky piece of fish, the chips were proper thick chips, which had also been cooked to perfection. Fluffy on the inside with a nice crisp crunch. The tartar sauce was also really well put together, good tang. However…. I was very very disappointed with the mushy peas, hence the rating. It hard because after having the fish and chips be personally one of my favourite pub fish and chips. The peas were bland as cardboard. I feel like I didn’t like the consistency either but was a little too long ago to be precise about the consistency. They need to be elevated to Minted mushy peas. That probably would have sealed the deal for me. The dish is a complete thing for me. If you guys implement them please invite me back and I may change to 5 star. The main reason I have posted this review is to get them changed 😂

Overall a lovely roast. We tried beef, pork and chicken. I would not recommend the beef. It was way too over cooked however the pork belly and chicken were delicious. The Yorkshire puddings were quite hard. Great veggie portion! The gravy was very good too! We would definitely recommend!

🚇 Camden Town 🍺 £6.70 Laine Word Lager The Prince Albert is located in the backstreets of Camden on the corner of Royal College Street and Georgiana Street. The nearest Tube is Camden Town, it’s a five minute walk to get here. This pub was built in 1843 and retains an original Charrington's exterior. The pub is clad in gorgeous glazed green tiles and has original leaded and stained Charringtons windows. This is a two room pub that has a traditional feel with contemporary touches here and there. The main bar is “U” shaped with a centrally located servery. The walls are clad in wood panelling and the floor is bare-boarded. The period features like the fireplace look like they are from the 1930’s. The seating is a combination of traditional tables and chairs, pews, and stools around poser tables. If you head upstairs, there is another bar/function room which is bright and airy. At the front of the pub is a secluded beer garden with parasols and heaters. The beer selection is all keg with a mix of mainstream mainstays, London brews and a good selection of Laine beers, @lainebrewco are the owners of the pub. I decided to try the Laine Word Lager, my pint was excellent, price point was high. The food menu offers a combination of Mediterranean and classic British dishes, Fish & Chips costs £16.50, Roasts are available on a Sunday. I arrived around 3pm on a rainy Tuesday afternoon in May. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxed in the main bar with a couple of punters in attendance. Upstairs, there was a private function in full swing which was pretty lively. The service was great, I was served by a welcoming and courteous member of the team. After having a good mooch around the pub, I settled to enjoy my pint listening to the superb eclectic soundtrack and gazed around this beautiful pub. I loved the beautiful exterior, especially the tiles. The interwar interior made for a relaxed setting and the beer was on point if a little pricey. Slowest fast food in ages 3 burgers, 1 fish & chips at lunch time when the place was almost empty... took a good 50 minutes. Nice burger though but... not worth it. Best avoided for lunch

We had our wedding reception at The Prince Albert in July 2024 and it was absolutely fantastic. The whole team were so lovely and worked so hard to make the day special. Everybody raved about the venue and the food and we wouldn't have had our wedding anywhere else. Thank you!

Went with the family for dinner , Sunday roast for 2 of us and my daughter had burger and chips and my wife had fish and chips All came out stone cold Sent it all back, we were told they were very sorry and it would be all freshly done again But it all came back from the microwave Not very happy with the food Won’t go again It wasn’t even busy 10 people max, and not all eating

My husband had his leaving do in the upstairs room of the Prince Albert last night. I had spoken to Esther during the booking process and she was very helpful and professional. On the night the staff working upstairs were amazing. They kept me updated on the bar spend and even made sure they got me a drink just before 'free' bar ran out! The food was plentiful and delicious. The pub had a lovely atmosphere. Everyone had a wonderful time. I highly recommend this pub.

Came to this pub for the Euros final - what an incredible atmosphere! Despite the result I had an amazing time here. The staff here do a great job creating a really welcoming environment - it has the feeling of a great local pub. Cracking little boozer.

Lauren and all the staff at the Prince Albert truly made our wedding day magical, stress free and everything ran so smoothly. From our first meeting with Lauren, she made us feel very confident and comfortable. She helped guide us through the whole process and was absolutely fantastic on the day. All the staff were incredibly attentive to all of our guests. Set up was done beautifully, with such care and consideration even with little instruction from ourselves. If you are looking for a wedding venue or planning any another type of function we highly recommend talking with the Prince Albert. Outstanding service from the beginning to the end. Really pretty pub with plenty of tables and some nice outdoor seating too. Good selection of lagers and IPA, but it would be nice to have some real ale on the pumps.

We visited for our wedding anniversary after having our reception here a year ago, and it was good to be back! Delicious food, a good range of drinks, great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Love this pub. Had my birthday party last week here. A great spot to go with your mates and enjoy some drinks. The staff was amazing and they have a decent beer garden as well.

We had our wedding reception at The Prince Albert back in May 2023, and it was fabulous. Our friends and family had the best time and We had the most amazing day. Our first reception venue let us down, and with a few months to go before the big day I was in a bit of a panic. Thankfully I stumbled across The Prince Albert, and after viewing the pub and meeting Harrison (wedding coordinator) I knew we was in good hands. Harrison was just fantastic in helping me organise our day. From start to finish it was really stress free and he dealt with all my questions and query’s. (Sometimes numerous emails a day) immediately with no drama. The food was outstanding on the day, our friends and family still talk about it now. The venue was set up exactly how I wanted, the vibe and feel of the place was just perfect for that modern, relaxed pub wedding experience. We hired the whole pub for our reception. Once we had all eaten and the party had started Harrison and his team made sure the upstairs area was child friendly and made it into a play room for the children. They were happy and comfortable which was my concern. They all had a great time. If you’re looking for a London pub to host your wedding or wedding reception TPA is the place to be. If I could rate them 11/10 I would. Thanks for giving us a wonderful day!

We were here for a works Christmas Dinner, it was your typical pub food/Christmas choices ( pre ordered) the French onion soup was delicious! though would avoid the steak unless you like it like leather, that was the only real dissapointing dish, staff were lovely

Booked a table for two, for my mum's birthday. The food was amazing one of the best roasts Ive had while dinning out, cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend. Staff were very warm and welcoming. Will definitely return.

12 of us from our walking group booked for lunch after walking the Regents canal from Little Venice. The Prince Albert was the perfect venue, even providing Christmas crackers even though we hadn’t ordered the festive menu. Food was excellent, beer was to the boys approval and the staff member who served us was wonderful. Would definitely recommend The Prince Albert.

Change of management with change of attitude and welcome. Was amazing now Beer is eggy. Don't take cash anymore due to security reasons and apparently fake tenners. A right poncy "milky" joint. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere.

Like anywhere I suppose you have to hunt down the backstreet pubs and thank you Google maps. What a place. Busy but not horrendous. Lovely neighbourhood pub with a nice outside garden. Windows with original etchings, green tiles etc. Typical Carringtons and very nice too. Visited midweek and it was £5 a pint which is very good for this neck of the hood. Please visit

We went for the Sunday Roast and were not disappointed. We are visiting from Canada so wanted a typical pub experience and this spot was great. I would recommend to friends and family.

My husband and I got married here in late September 2023, and I cannot recommend the Prince Albert enough!! Booking a wedding venue can be stressful and we felt like a lot of the venues we looked at gave us the "hard sell" but the folks at the Prince Albert helped to put us at ease every step of the way. We fell in love with how beautiful the pub was, so hired the upstairs for the ceremony, wedding breakfast and party afterwards for around 40 - 45 people. We were able to drop off decorations the night before and talk it all through with the staff, and they did such a good job of working with us and the florist to get the place looking amazing. The ceremony went off without a hitch, everybody loved the food and we had a blast in the evening. All the staff were amazing, but special shout out to Harrison and Lauren for helping us plan and run the day, and Maria for managing everything on the ground both when we dropped off the decorations and during the wedding itself. Thank you again for helping us celebrate our special day with our loved ones, for making it so stress free and so memorable!

My son got married here in August 2023 to his gorgeous fiancée and had the most beautiful day with nearly 60 guests! We could decorate the upstairs venue ourselves the afternoon before with all the flowers and decorations we wished for. The pub was hired for the whole of Saturday and the staff were excellent the entire day from early morning through to midnight. The food was exquisite- delicious choices. The atmosphere was so lovely to hold the wedding service as well as apero and wedding dinner. A band was hired and so we had plenty of dancing too! Would definitely recommend this place for a weeing of your dreams.

There was only barbecue food available on the night which was a bit disappointing for myself and my group. Service wasn't great, not very friendly. Atmosphere was ok, there was live entertainment (a solo female artist) in the main bar area and this made it more difficult for myself and my group to hear each other speak.

Superb venue for small private function, with excellent staff service.

Was very quiet yet waited ages to be served, ended up just going up to the bar to order all of our food as we waited and had no one come see if we were ok. Food came out cold and not with everything which was stated on the menu. Beef was fatty and chewy. Had to wait ages to call someone over to ask for more Yorkshire puddings and gravy as it said it was unlimited yet was again never checked on to see if everything was satisfactory and if we needed anything. Was able to pay separately which was good but they don’t take cash only card. Very expensive and left very disappointed.

This pub has a life drawing class every Tuesday and on Wednesday, you can participate in a quiz where you could win cash prizes. They also serve drinks if you're into that sort of thing 😂😂

Following our tradition of cup final lunch before heading to Wembley we once again dined at the Prince Albert. Communication was good throughout on the build up to the day and on the day itself we were served extremely well throughout and sensing our needs for the afternoon we were impressed at the awareness of the staff working that day

This the best pub to organise your summer drinks. We booked the garden and the function room for 80 people and the catering was delish. The staff is sooooooo nice, helpful, always smiling and super super friendly. We'll definitely come back!

Great Sunday roast, Yorkshire pudding was more fried than chewy, but it's bottomless. Veggies are fried in oil, not bad. Meat portions are not insanely large, for better or worse, and did notice they were a bit inconsistent across the plates. Last call is at 5:45pm and they take resy. Service super great and lovely drinks, the honey mead was really good and sweet.

Our family hired the upstairs function area for an engagement party. They have a bar and numerous windows to open, allowing the venue to be cool and guests not to overheat. We supplied our own catering.

I went there yesterday afternoon The place was empty inside as I headed to the bar a load of students went to the bar from the garden entrance around 13 of them I was standing at the bar like a lemon for around 10 mins No acknowledgement from the lady behind the bar that I was there. I wouldn't mind but I wanted to place a decent size order these students were just after lemonades and sparkling water. In the end I had to leave. Shame because it looked like a cosy and nice pub to chill out and have a drink and bite to eat. Won't be back.

Went as a party of 10 showing my family around London and wanted to treat them to a proper Sunday roast. The pork belly was mostly fat which for £17 is very unfortunate. Ran out of Yorkshire puddings as well so the all you can eat puddings and gravy was relatively out the window. Didn’t even offer really. Pigs in blankets are supposedly included with the pork meals but we had to remind the chef to send them. Overall bad food experience and we will sadly be choosing another place in the future. The staff were friendly and the pub is nice. Just unfortunate situation for the only reason we came in.

Lovely pub, staff and service. But the meat in the Sunday roast was very disappointing. Toughest, blandest beef I've ever had. My dad asked if the beef would be tender and was kindly told that couldn't be guaranteed. I didn't listen. The vegetables and gravy were very good though - Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, carrots and parsnip, and kale. 2 of my party had the pork - was described as slow cooked, but was also quite dry/tough and the fat wasn't rendered as I'd expect from slow cooking. Shame because it is a lovely pub.

This was such a cute pub, but we booked a table for 7pm for a Sunday roast, and specified in the booking that we were there for food, but when we went to order at 7:15 we were told that the kitchen was closed. There were many tables still eating, and we had even checked online before booking that the kitchen was open until 8. This was very sad for us as it was a special dinner as a goodbye that we had been looking forward to. We had to leave and find somewhere else to eat. :(

We are so pleased we found Harrison and the Pub Wedding London group. After canceling our wedding due Covid at another venue, and wanting to get married this year, after speaking to Harrison in March we booked our wedding for the 01.10.22 and everything honestly went perfectly! I couldn't have done it without Harrison and he made planning a wedding in a short amount of time so easy, no question or request was too much and they accommodated everything we wanted and better! loved the extra help and attention to detail, creating a wedding menu that we wanted, and not to mention our guests and ourselves loved the food! everyone was raving about it! We are so happy we got to have our wedding at Prince Albert and we honestly wouldn't change the day at all looking back, it will always have a special place in our hearts <3 x

We went for a Sunday roast and the meal was very good and cheaper than the usual Camden roasts (14 pounds pp). The interior is nice, just a little cold temperature inside!

Poorly presented cold chips and overcooked burger, no side salad. No care to presentation. Took almost an hour. We tried to mention it was cold but staff did not care particularly, and I was too hungry so just ate it. Not given condiments salt pepper, had to go find. Saw another group complaining about their burgers and chips also. This is not a meal that it is difficult to get right. So disappointing. I’m not being dramatic to say it was the worse burger and chips I’ve ever been served in a pub or restaurant.
