Highly recommend this place. The served crab and lobster were very delicious. The atmosphere is good. The staff is kind and friendly.

We came in for a quick lunch and upon reading reviews online we expected a lunch to be full of flavour and worth the price however once we were served the prawn and crab sandwich we found that the flavour was lacklustre due to the lack of seasoning or sauce. We also found shell in the sandwich which isn’t pleasant and what you would be expecting. The staff were lovely however and the food came out quick, they just need to up their food game.

Food was delicious and well cooked. Lots of choice on the menu if you're a lover of seafood or not.

Nice little place next to the harbour. Food was acceptable if not overpriced for what it was. My food was the Cod giujons on a bap with fries. The bun was a little dry as the two giujons did not fill the bap, and there was only one lettuce leaf with no garnish, etc. Edible, but for the price, I would expect a little more. Fries were good and lots of them. Two adult meals and a child's meal came to over £36 without drinks, so it seems expensive. I would add that I overheard some of the younger staff swearing to each other but within earshot of my 4 Yr old granddaughter so not overly impressed although they were friendly and attentive with the customers. A mixed review. Would I go again? Maybe, if the price was lower and the staff kept their conversation professional within earshot of customers.

Had a lovely lunch and really enjoyed the crab and prawn stack and the calamari very fresh and delicious. Really quick service and great atmosphere and dog friendly

Really like this place. Staff where nice and friendly. The place was clean and tidy. There was a good supply of fresh sea food behind the counter which was presented nice and had a outdoor area to sit at and look out to sea! Can't go wrong. I'll be going back again.

Fay and her amazing team offered us some spectacular food and drinks. The picture of the food sits above where the dogs are sat with us. So glad we found you - awesome.

The sign said Lobster April - September. It is May and they said they have no Lobster...... It is called the Lobster Pot. 😶 The seafood linguini was £19 and it was mediocre not worth that price at all. And the seafood chowder was ok. The kids meal was ok. Peas overcooked, 1 cod goujon but way to many fries. Fries were a bit sorry looking. The whole meal was not worth the nearly £50 paid maybe it most was worth £25 at the very most. Location is nice. Will not return.

We were staying in the area and decided to try this place. The place is small with a small amount of tables inside, which we were lucky to get a table. The weather wasn't good so couldn't sit outside due to a short burst of heavy rain while we were there. I had the burger which was really poor, it was a cheap frozen type burger similar to what you get from a burger van at an event but that would have been better. It was bland and dry and couldn't really be eaten. What it came with wasn't the best either. I had a milkshake which was ok but on small side. The coffee was ok. Overall the place wasn't the best, the food was poor. The staff were ok. The place is very small so you might not get seating inside. The place is dog friendly.

Lovely place lovely food. Needs to be waiter service. Great view over the harbour. Girl taking orders can only deal with one order at a time and cannot take another order until all the drinks are made for previous order. A waiter would speed up the service

The Lobster Pot doesn’t serve fish and chips. Along with my request I heard three other customers ask the same question. They don’t do fish and chips for some unexplainable reason, so look elsewhere.

Excellent freshly prepared food with a strong seafood slant. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was very welcoming and sophisticated, not what we were expecting in the main street of a seaside resort. The menu was extensive with many non mainstream options as well as the more popular seafood dishes available even though poor weather limited footfall. Considering the quality and quantity of the food quickly provided it represented very good value for money.

The food was good - honest, fresh home cooked food. It isn't really a "service" place, you order inside at the till but nice friendly staff. We were there on a sunny day and this place has good views from the outside tables.

Very good food but £16 1 piece of.salmom and a bit of salad expensive as the pub round the corner you can get a seabass meal for £21

Came in and ordered a salmon fillet salad with honey mustard dressing for £16. Normally this is too steep but having been to the Lobster Pot before and got mackerel with salad, I decided it would be worth the price. What was received was a tiny side salad and a singular fillet of salmon that from the eye didn’t look freshly prepared. Considering the price of this compared to other restaurants in the town this is completely unjustified for what you get, especially for £16. I would possibly consider returning to try their hot food but otherwise avoid this side of the menu.

When I’m in Barmouth I like to come here for a full English breakfast as a treat because it’s lovely and I enjoy it the best. The coffee is good too. Nice sat outside when the weather allows it or you can sit in.

It's a seaside coffee stop .... but food was lovely, with a good selection, good coffee .... staff were very good too ... can not fault it for a small eatery

Avoid. I’ve been to the Lobster Pot several times in the last few years, and every time it’s been a worse experience unfortunately. Firstly they had no lobster in as it’s out of season, which I appreciate however they informed me no one else in the local area would have either, which wasn’t the case as I have since checked with other Restaurants which have plenty in stock. Considering the name of the place you’d expect them to have a supply for the off season of cardigan bay lobster. The restaurant is as always extremely cramped and not suitable for a push chair or wheel chair, there were multiple dogs in the building which were constantly barking and yelping which totally ruined the ambience, to top it off I saw a woman with a dog sat on her lap at the table which wasn’t cleaned before the next patron came in to eat, which I find totally disgusting. The food it’s self was good except the muscles which tasted off in my opinion, I had the Seafood Linguine and my Partner had the chicken Caesar burger which as always she enjoyed. Drinks are overpriced and the coffee was absolutely horrendous. All in all a very disappointing visit and I don’t think I will be back due to the hygiene. And I will not be recommending to my friends and family again as these comments seem to mirror their experiences regarding the dogs and hygiene. One of the worst experiences I’ve had in a restaurant, which is a shame as I once really enjoyed coming here.

Food was okay however there were dogs barking in the cramped restaurant throughout our meal, totally ruining our lunch. Also the table behind us had a dog sat on their lap and after they had left someone else sat at that table and it was not cleaned in between which I find absolutely disgusting and unhygienic. They also win the award for the worst coffee I have ever had, AVOID.

Great good. I loved the seafood linguine. It was absolutely beautiful. My daughter had the mussels and fries and she loved hers. My boyfriend had a Welsh burger and fries and he also enjoyed his lunch. I would highly recommend this place. Friendly staff and great food.

Lovely little restaurant / cafe right on the harbour, lovely place with amazing food and very welcoming and friendly staff, Just brilliant and I always make a point of visiting when I'm in Barmouth, perfect for a sit down meal or getting a snack to go, Oh and the muscles here are cooked perfectly 🙂

We sat down for our proper restaurant priced meal only to find I had to get up again to order at the counter - lots of staff and no customers you would think a pen and paper would be easy to come and take your order. Anyway food arrived - 2 fish fingers in a bun and lots of McCain fries for £14 a thin tasteless burger in a bun with once again hundreds of McCain fries and stange tasting prawns and salmon in it which i scraped off as didn’t want to risk it although probably ate to many prawns guess I’ll know later eh. And to top off the experience all the staff sat behind us on customers tables to discuss there social life - don’t be fooled by the ok looking menu !!

After a long walk on Barmouth beach stopped here for a spot of lunch. Sat outside with the dog and took in the beautiful view. Ordered the jacket potatoe with cheese & Coleslaw and my husband had the Bacon & cheese burger. Both were so delicious and good size portions. Coffee was excellent and came with a biscuit - always a nice touch I feel. Would definitely recommend this place and hope to return when next in area.

Good sea food, cosy and dog friendly.

What a lovely little place. We stopped off for lunch as a family group of 8 with a dog. We had the lunchtime special of me mussels and chips for £12 which were lovely in a creamy garlic sauce. The staff were great and even though it is small and busy the speed was good they clearly work hard and give a great service. Would highly recommend.

Such friendly staff. Had coffee cakes and breakfast over the course of the week... all lovely.

I have been here a few times but on my last visit I was disappointed with the prawn sandwich which was almost tasteless. For a seafood specialist a great shame

Drive past the Lobster Pot when we arrived in Barmouth on a wet and blustery October day and said how inviting it looked and decided then to pop back for lunch. Hubby had the prawn and crab stack which he said was really tasty and I had the cheese and onion toastie and home made tomato soup. The soup was delicious and there was a lot of it and a whole toastie, not a half as I was expecting. Would definitely go back for something more substantial if we’re in the area again. Would like to give the seafood linguine a try!

My partner and I landed in the Lobster Pot for breakfast on our first morning in Barmouth. We chose the large breakfast which was huge, we couldn’t finish it all but it kept us going for hours. We returned again on a few other mornings and chose the smaller breakfast or a breakfast roll. All was decent quality for the price and swiftly served.

Prawn & crab stack very disappointing. Advertised as prawns with white crab meat. No white meat on prawns only a tiny sprinkling of brown meat. Ordered chips. Arrived within 2 minutes of ordering and we’re cold. Been before but won’t go again.

£12 weekday special moules frites sounded promising - as though they might know what they are doing. They don’t - the moules were overcooked mush, worse than a supermarket vacuum pack. Fries were alright. The salad garnish was fresh. I got a nice smile and an apology when I complained but no suggestion of a refund whether full or partial (cos you pay on ordering). Also, be aware, there are no toilets at the premises. The public ones across the road are ok.

I've been here a few times now and I think you'd be hard pressed to find better seafood in the area. The moules and frites, crab and prawn stack or smoked mackerel paté takes some beating.

Went on a monday it was closed. Went again Tuesday at 11.30am for an early lunch, they refused to take any orders till 12pm. Finally took them at 12.10, no burgers, no mackerel and no lobster, was advised they might have stock on friday. Staff were stressed and snappy with a million excuses. No lobster at the lobster pot....!

Cheese sandwich good beer expensive

Managed to get a table at Lobsterpot. I chose Chowder and husband had panini. Mine was a disappointment. My seafood chowder had lots of small prawns lots of cubed potato the fish was cubed brown discoloured fish. Not sure what it was. Did not eat it ,asked waitress what it was saying it was not pleasant to look at but she could not tell me it was 13.50 so was pricey .

First time I have been enjoyed it very much.

Best prawns I have ever eaten, my wife and I will not pass through without popping in for at least 2 pots each! Service can be a let down sometimes - we were in a queue and the woman behind the counter just disappeared off without an explanation (never to return), luckily a young lad took the initiative a minute or 2 later and jumped on to continue serving. Not a huge amount of space inside and no toilets.

The food was a mixed bag. I found the mussels to be excellent and my wife really enjoyed her prawn salad. The half lobster could have been better, especially at that price. Nice views of the harbour if you get an outside table.

I'm not sure why this place has good reviews, alot of them seem fake, I'd be very cautious of that, plenty of other excellent sea food venues locally. We ate here last night, found the younger staff were constantly being shouted at and pressured by the the lady who I think owned or managed the place , bad atmosphere, the food was very average at best and over priced. Today we were looking for a tray of shellfish as you do when at the seaside, unfortunately this was the only place we could find that sold them, so we took the gamble and went back and used the smaller kiosk at the end of the restaurant. I asked for a pot of Cockles and Mussels mixed for my daughter as she doesn't like the other items , but it wasn't on the menu so the young nice girl serving us asked the same lady who we witnessed shouting at the staff the night before if we can do that but she got rudely told off for asking and said to just sell us 2 pots instead at £3 each. Instead of just having a mixture in one pot, could have just said no and let me make my own decision to buy 2 pots. This lady then started to talk loudly indirectly to us moaning that people don't look at the signs or menus and just ask for what they want, well how very dare a paying customer do such a thing. Sorry for asking. I feel truly sorry for the members of staff who have to endure this miserable dragon of a woman regularly, they work there. I can just walk away, never return and leave a bad review. I don't leave many reviews but I felt this was important for anyone looking to have a relaxing sea food meal, you wont get it here, cramped venue, rude owners and you better not ask any questions, God forbid.

We ordered seafood linguine and prawns in garlic sauce. I have never had a better seafood dinner in my life. The mussels were delicious and the prawns in chilli sauce just melted in your mouth. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Lovely big breakfast, very delicious, will definitely be going to the Lobster Pot again.

We went in here on the off chance to have some lunch, we were looking at the menu. Cant comment on the food because we decided not to stay after a really rude female snapped back at us after we asked a question about the local fishing and fish mongers in the area. Moral of the story is, if you do not make your customers/tourists welcome, they wont come back, stay to eat, or give you a good review!

Sandwich for £13 - a few crisps, plan undressed lettuce ‘salad’ and a crab and prawn thin soggy bread sandwich with no flavouring. Get better in the supermarket. Battered cod bap with soggy cold fries was only slightly better. Go for a proper fish and chips instead.

It was seating outside. I believe there is no seating inside. It was very busy due to holiday season.

Mussels were really good, nice little kids meal and burgers for the non-fishy people!

The best way to find out is to book a table, select a meal and enjoy the experience.

Very tasty well priced food, it can be very busy and you may have to wait. I had a very delicious Thai green curry.

The staff here are wonderful, friendly and chatty, the food was lovely, the staff can not do enough for you. A group of wet scooterist was not a problem for them. Thank you

Excellent food and quick service

If you love seafood this is the place to come for lunch in Barmouth. It was pretty busy and waited to be served. Eventually I had to ask, only to be told to order at the counter. When I placed my order the service was swift and friendly. I had a crab sandwich, which was generously filled in thick wholemeal bread. Delicious 😋 Definitely recommend.

After walking around Barmouth for an hour trying to find somewhere to be either open or that can accommodate my allergies. A lovely little find in the heart of Barmouth. I have food allergies to Egg, Dairy and Gluten so it's a tricky combo to accommodate for, but they pulled it out of the bag and said just ask as everything is freshly cooked. And that it was! Definitely one to go back too and the coffee wasn't bad either. *Photos: mackerel salad and new potatoes and my partner (no allergies) had a Cod Goujon Sandwich with chips*

Clean restaurant along the seaside, foods ok, crab salad is quite pricey for a small crab with few bits of salad and chips.

We picked this café with crab sandwiches in mind (a particular favourite of my wife). We were not disappointed, but consider that they could have contained a bit more crab. We got the impression that they were near to running out of stock. The bread was fresh, our tea hot and the two young girls serving were very obliging, if a bit 'new on the job'. Not sure if we would go again if in the area, but it was a cold off-day.

Have eaten here hundreds of times and never had a bad meal. Always super fresh and everything on the menu is absolutely delicious, especially the Lobster & Chowder. Just wish it was open in the evening too ♥️

My friends highly recommended visiting this place. Our goal was to dine on seafood. Friends were right. The dishes are very tasty. The photo, of course, will not convey the taste, plus there is also a not very good photo of the dish with crab (it is not visible behind the salad, but it is huge). But I definitely recommend it to seafood lovers. The only thing to keep in mind is that there are not very many tables, and there may not be any free ones. But I noticed that a lot of people take their food to go and enjoy their meal at the tables across the road with a great view of the coast. We wanted to do this too, but there was a free table inside and my daughter wanted to eat inside.

Service was bright and cheerful ..but the burger and fries were poor, the fries were frozen macdonald type, and the bread roll fell apart, definitely not worth 15 pounds ....oh well

Very small indoor space and my fish dish was over cooked sadly, as I was looking forward to it. I told a member of staff and they wasnt friendly at all. Not a good experience. Will not return.

After a request for lobster by the seaside we decided to head to Barmouth from Staffordshire for the day, we had a fantastic morning on the beach before heading to the lobster pot, my son is a big fan of anything fish or seafood, he was delighted that lobster was on the menu, we all started with a pot of mixed seafood, I had the chowder, my husband had a burger topped with smoked salmon and the captain (6YO) went for half a lobster, he regretted not going for a whole one almost immediately after he took his first bite, the food was delicious, the surroundings spectacular and fabulous service. We had to wait a short while for a table but it was certainly worth it, we can’t wait to return for another fishy feast 😋

Lovely homely cafe. Very accommodating to my family. We had a mixture of different crab and prawn sandwiches which were very nice.

Dogs running around and chefs stroking the dog when serving food. Marmalade costing 50p when we had spent £30. Knife and forks would have gone on table if hadn’t taken it out of his hands. Too many people coming in and out of the kitchen.

Food was really nice, got a caramelised onion and sausage ciabatta. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere of the area is amazing as the building is located on the Barmouth promenade. Highly recommend going if you like seafood, as they have loads of that too.
