Tooo much oil. Prices should be reconsidered

We visited a few weeks ago. We had family from France with us. We wanted them to experience British Fish and Chips. Well the food was lovely. But the highlight for us was meeting the owner and her daughter. Such genuine, lovely people. I wish them all the success with the business and hope people read this and visit. The food was great! And I hope you get the pleasure of meeting these two lovely ladies.

Love Valla's, have been coming here for years. Friendly down to earth chippy, fresh and tasty chips, the best.

Everything was excellent food and staff were brilliant

Decided go for a Fish & Chips for lunch and decided go to Valla's chippy and ordered a special which was £10.00 for Fish Chips Peas bread & butter and a mug of Tea, the meal was totally delicious, would definitely go back again. Unfortunate they do not take Debit/Credit Card payment so make sure that you have Cash with you, but a great service.

The place has been around for many years. Lovely massive fish and chips served. Some other delicious food at low prices also served. Enjoyed my meal. The staff are welcoming and friendly. I know where to eat, if I'm ever in town. Street parking available near by.

A disappointing experience because of the dreadful cooking technique used for cooking the fish. Double or triple-cooked chips can be a delight, indicating a mastery of cooking technique that results in a perfect crunch. However, applying the same principle to fish proved disastrous. The fish came out of the fridge stiff as a board and appeared to have been precooked or partly cooked before being fried again upon order. This unusual fish cooking method resulted in an overcooked and dry texture for the fish, while the batter became unappealingly soggy and greasy. It's a classic case of good intentions not quite aligning with the delicate nature of seafood preparation. The saving grace was the chips, which were quite nice. However, the star of the show should have been the fish, and in this instance, it faltered. A friendly reminder: what works wonders for potatoes does not necessarily do the same for fish! The essence of a good fried fish lies in the balance of flavors and textures – crisp batter against moist, tender fish. Re-frying disturbs this balance, leading to an inferior culinary experience both in terms of flavour and texture!

Went to valla' chip shop after business in Bangor on 14/03/24 found it by chance so glad we did they were fantastic tasty chips not greasy really cooked well wonderful scallops an hot curry sauce best we've had in years would move to live in Bangor just for valla's chips mm thanks you lot the couple from stourbridge west mids

Never lets you down, can honestly say that I have been coming here for 40yrs and never had a bad meal.

I highly recommended going there. The place very busy you can either it in or out. The staff are very friendly and they don't waste time serving the customers. I had large fish and chips and and mushy peas with can of diet coke just for £10.00. So if you if your in Bangor Gwynedd and feeling hungry and want to save money go to valas 👍👍👍👍

Chose to eat in there cafe and the service was excellent and chose to have large fish, chips a peas which was truly delicious and it's came to a reasonable price of £8.50.

Best chippy in Wales (they have an award for that too, thus official) And it always has been. Gets busy at times, but worth the wait.

I went there yesterday. I’ve not been there for a few years, because I lived in England. When I did live on Anglesey, it was the only chippy in Bangor that went to. The food there was as good yesterday as it was in the 60’s and 70’s yummy. Please keep up with your high standards that has been kept for the last sixty + years. Selwyn 👍👍👍👏👏👏

My friend picked this up for me on the way to mine.the size of the cod was disgusting. Its the sort of size you give a 4 year old. And most of it was just batter. Certainly never going there anymore.

Wow wow wow first the welcome we got as if we were royalty . They went above and beyond. And the food was amazing. My dad and mam had fish chips and peas and I had sausage in batter chips and curry sauce. Cooked to perfection. And we didn’t have to wait any more than five minutes. Can’t praise valla chippy enough. The staff were all very friendly all I can say it’s a little gold mine run very professionally.well done to all. And a big thank you.

Always really freshly cooked and perfect, service is always friendly in this family run chippy that has been going for generations. Small area to eat in which is always clean. Very welcoming, very tasty.

The staff are absolutely lovely. Really make you feel part of the family, although this was our first visit and not living close by we will sadly not be able to go again any time soon 😢. And the food is great too!! We had the good ol' fish and chip combo. Cash only.

Not been here for years and stopped by for a takeaway. Wasn't that impressed to be honest such a shame . Fish cake was hard and had been standing for a long time, chips nothing special and portion was small. They may be cheaper than other places but I guess that's why. Hopefully it was just an off day for them as I know they can be better.

Great F&C. Huge well cooked portions. Friendly staff. The place is small and can feel a bit cramped, but the place is clean. A place for the whole family and a Bangor classic.

Stopped in on spec on the way to Beaumaris primarily for a look round Bangor, saw Vallas, looked interesting. The food and service were both brilliant. We got talking with the owner, granddaughter of the original's owner, really interesting history. I had pie chips and gravy, and coming from Rochdale I have quite a bit of experience in this field, I give it 10/10 Would definitely detour via Bangor just to visit again.

Fantastic cod, chips, peas, bread and butter plus a cup of tea for £7.25. All served up by a very friendly waitress.

I never write reviews but this one was a must!! Came to Wales for a mini holiday and came across this little gem !! The food is amazing, I tried the homemade onion gravy - my first time trying this anywhere and it’s is the best gravy ever!! So much so me and my husband came back to Vallas two days later and got our own portion. The team is so friendly and the place has got that family feel to it which makes it even better. I know for a fact that when we visit Wales in the future we will definitely be back at Vallas again !! Thank you to Michelle and the gang xx

Met the 4th and 5th generation of owners. The queue at the door spoke volumes. Amazing, well priced fish and chips in Bangor. Tucked away at the bottom of the high street, it's well worth a visit.

we always visit Bangor we always come here for dinner and somtimes it busy but the last time we went we was the only one here and we had 3 cup of tea and egg and peas and 2 fishcakes and chips and and i must say the portions are very small there like children meals and they are good prices for what you get but you dont get a lot on your plate that why i always ask for a extra fishcake when i go there but we still go there everytime we go to Bangor. The atmosphere in the chippy is very nice and very frindly staff. You get your dinner quckly which i like. There is a bathroom in the resureant it at the back but there is only one men and one woman . In this resurant is tight to fight a lot of people in but overall it a good place to eat cheap defitlity coming back when we return to Bangor

TOP CLASS SERVICE AND FOOD!! I go here to eat once in a while, but each and every time I go you get prompt, friendly and efficient service. One of my particular favourite meals is the Spare Ribs and chips. Unlike most other establishments which serve ribs as a 'Rack of Ribs', the ribs served here are proper thick individual ribs with plenty of meat.

I called in to-day for a fish and chip dinner having heard such great reviews of this place. What a let down this turned out to be. I waited to be served, then the assistant banged a knife and fork down on the table. "Fish chips and peas please". "Do you want tea" she barked. She returned with ONE slice of bread and butter, so greasy this was as it had been buttered both sides. Waited patiently for my meal and then it appeared. No sign of the tea, but it too appeared next to my meal. Such rude service. Will go elsewhere next time.
