Decent fish and chips spot. Only two tables and they are outside. While there is an overhang, you cook yourself in the heat eating under the sun. The staff were sitting at one of the tables when we arrived, and then went in to help us and cook the food. Cod and chips were decent. Eating with just a wooden spork wasn’t easy! If you want ketchup, it’s 30p per packet.

Fresh and perfectly cooked fish and chips, generous portions, staff were efficient and friendly. Worth walking up into the town slightly away from the tourist end to find!

Our recent visit to J & C Chippy in Caernarfon left us feeling, well, thoroughly disappointed. Lured in by the promise of "award-winning" fish and chips plastered on the window (£9.95 a portion!), we expected a delightful seaside treat. Unfortunately, the reality fell far short. The fish itself was the biggest letdown. Instead of a hearty, flaky piece, we were presented with several thin, underwhelming strips. The batter, rather than light and crispy, was greasy and heavy. The chips, a meagre handful, shared the same fate – limp and lacking flavour. Perhaps our expectations were too high, having been spoiled by fantastic chippies back home. But even considering that, the entire meal felt bland and unappetizing. Neither of us, despite arriving quite hungry, could finish our portions. To add insult to injury, a small can of soda cost a hefty £1.75! J & C Chippy, if your awards are real, we can only assume they were bestowed in a bygone era. Based on our experience, we'd strongly advise tempering your expectations before heading in. There are likely far better options for fish and chips in Caernarfon - we certainly hope so!

We went to visit Caernarfon Castle in the morning on 15/2/24 and were looking for somewhere to have some lunch. We came across J and C Chippy and ordered food to eat inside in the restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The total bill was very reasonable and after a short wait the food was brought upstairs to where we were waiting. The restaurant was clean and airy. The food was excellent. The fish (cod) I’d ordered was beautifully done in a light crispy batter. The chips were fresh and light, and the mushy peas were spot on. For me it was one of the best fish and chips I’d had for a long time and the other member of our family party also left clean plates and thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I’d definitely recommend J and C Chippy if you’re in Caernarfon. You won’t be disappointed.

Be warned the cafe is very very expensive and being honest you don't get a lot. What you do get is nice but sorry never again , Fish and Chips £11:99 add that up and just for two of you , me and wife £23:98 no thank you that's way to much for where the chippy is and food you get ......Sorry but it's the truth.

The fish and chips are wonderful. You can choose the sizes you like. Fairly reasonable. CASH only. Friendly service.

Nous voulions tester un Fish and Chips traditionnel. Au vue de la queue qu'il y avait devant l'entrée, on s'est dit que cela ne devait pas être trop mauvais. Et il ne nous a pas déçu. On peut sélectionner son poisson, la quantité de frites, les différentes sauces. Evidemment ce n'est pas diététique, mais promis, le lendemain on a fait du sport.

Visited on day one of our holiday. Staff friendly and helpful. Unfortunately no staff available for the upstairs service, was informed that since covid staffing has been limited. Anyhow was served two large chips one with curry sauce and two regular and two kids meals came to £42 payed extra to sit upstairs. Food was hot and tasty. Can't mark up for atmosphere because we was alone upstairs. Staff was lovely and inviting hense good marks for the service. Thanks 👍

Fish and chips are wonderful. Dine-in closed 4pm, not good. Sat outside, disgusting kids gobbin on street, moved on to square.

Went to the chippy today and was served by a kind and respectful gentleman called Gethin. He gave me the freshest sausage and chips I’ve ever had in my life. He gave me a perfect amount of salt and vinegar on the food and I walked out smiling from ear to ear. I was in and out of the shop within 2 minutes he was that fast at his job while still maintaining a professional and positive attitude. Will be coming here again every day as long as this young man is working here.

went to this chippy on thursday and the food was poor and a staff member called gethin was very rude to me and when i asked for salt and vinegar on my chips he just poured loads of vinegar so all my chips were swimming

Ordered fish and large chips the chips wouldn't even feed 2 people the portion was too small and the Cod looked like it had been sitting there for ages there was no fish batter. Worse fish and chips I have ever had. Rated it 1 star because my daughters nuggets were good.

We travelled to Wales from Berlin and wanted to show the kids fish and chips. J&C was a welcome break after touring the awesome castle. The young lady serving us was delightfully patient with a stressed German dad and the food was just what we needed. Very nice indeed.

Good little cafe and chip shop. Castle is literally 200-300yds away. Good array of choice both hot and cold. Very tasty cakes and coffees.

Very good freshly cooked chips were lovely and crisp. Wouldn't normally have eaten a pie, but not had a steak and kidney pie for years, and they looked appetising. Not bad, but they had been left too long in the warmer.

Terrible customer service, had to wait half hour for pie and chips with no one else in the queue, then give us the wrong pie! Girls attitude was absolutely disgusting. Would never go there again or recommend it to anyone.

Been using this establishment since coming to Caernarfon two and a half years ago and always been good, but today the chips were even more out of this world! Not sure what they might be doing differently but they were fabulous. Service as great as ever.

Possibly the worst chips I’ve ever had, they were so dry and far too big so although they looked cooked they were raw in the middle.

If you're in the town, it's worth going to this place. Portions are HUGE, food was delicious and good customer service too. Shame all the chips shops aren't the same "Ainsworths....take notice of this"

Popped in and was going to order something but when I said hello to the staff behind the counter she blanked me and did not even look in my direction. so I just knew they weren't interested in serving us so we went to another establishment which is. lucky we left because found this lovely place called Four Alls and had a nice meal. we were greeted with a smile from staff which was interested in serving customers.

Decent enough food but be aware they only take cash. Probably one of the very few places not accepting contactless payments in the midst of a pandemic where we're being positively encouraged to go contactless.

Ordered x 2 mini fish, chips and mushy peas from here this afternoon, and was very dissapointed. The chips were not freshly cooked, and looked like they had been cooked hours earlier and been standing. They were all stuck together and cold, had to throw them in the bin. Very dissapointed

Staff were friendly and accommodating however the chip to fish ratio was in my opinion wrong. Too small a fish to massive (unfinishable even by my teen-agers) portion of chips.

Went here because we thought they did gluten free fish and chips, however we got told they no longer do this.

Terrible. We arrived at 8.30, half an hour before closing on a friday night to be told no fish and no chips but you can have a sausage and 2 pies as thats all they had. There were 4 of us!! Can't say how disappointed we were.

A very positive experience ,when there was little choice in where to eat in Caernarfon in early May .Worth the wait for hot and crisp well cooked battered fish and chips.There is a nearby bench at the top of the road where you can sit and enjoy your meal. .

Staff were cleaning the floor with a mop, asked us if we wanted fish and then went straight from cleaning to the fridge, handled two pieces of fish with their hands, dipped the fish and their hands in the batter.................... and we left!Needs an up-dated hygiene review with environmental services!

Excellent products full of flavour

Normally love coming here. Been looking forward to this for a year. The batter was thick, undercooked and like sponge cake. Asked for lots of salt and vinegar and couldn’t taste any. Disappointed and hungry 😟

Beware! We were only able to buy leftovers when we turned up at 8.40pm (and they now say they close at 9pm not as advertised). No chance of cooking anything extra (like fish, sausage, or chips). Really unimpressed after the other good reviews.

Lovely GF Fish & Chips. Freshly cooked and had separate fryer. Went and had a wander round as they said they would be ready in 20minutes. They were well worth the wait. My Husband said his ordinary fish & chips with curry sauce was very good as well.

We have been to the Chippy a couple of times recently. On both occasions the food was freshly cooked and delicious. I am Coeliac and therefore need Gluten Free Fish, this was no problem and one of the best GF fish I have had any here. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
