Service is good. Breakfasts were not very warm and the ingredients were not of good quality. Crockery chipped, cutlery unclean and the tea that comes with the breakfast was awful. Tables and chairs need a clean and/or an update. Its popular with older people and construction workers talking loudly on their phones so not really for us, but the locals seem to like it.

We were welcomed by the owner and his dog. Dogs are welcome and allowed in the restaurant. There were no problems. All the dogs behaved impeccably - and more importantly the food was really good. We had delicious prawns followed by perfect fillet steak and a veggie burger - all tastes catered for! The wine was very good and a decent price. Be aware that children are not catered for. It is for grown ups. For us it was the best food in the area - and so nice not to have to sit and eat in the bar - as dog owners are so used to having to do.

Where do we start phone hotel two weeks before arriving to book the restaurant for my husband’s birthday. When we arrived they could not find our booking then it was under another name we were informed it was £9 a night to book your car into there hotel car park which we paid. When checking in the place could do with a refurb. We got ready had a drink at the bar and went to reception to find out about our dinner reservations to be told they don’t do food and was finding it difficult to get anywhere. When arriving back that night the double bed consists of two single beds together I don’t mind but the mattresses were not the same size but we were tired. On going down for breakfast that was a shambles not enough staff ordered cooked breakfast and brown toast. The plate arrived not one told me it was hot and burnt my fingers and the sausage was raw inside, brown toast did not arrive but ward hard white looking toast came when we were nearly finished. Next day we went out came back no car park spaces to be told be reception it’s first come first served so why take your money up front they should be numbered was informed we can park at the NCP for £15 Next morning checking out decided to just get scrambled eggs and mushrooms with brown toast made a point on check the plate to find out the was stone cold so was the mushrooms, when trying to explain to the staff my plate was whipped away without a sorry to be given another plate with warm mushrooms and undercooked scrambled egg. And again late toast or warm hard bread we did not eat as we were watching one of the staff wiping one of the tables with the bath mat you use when you are stepping out the shower When confronting the staff in morning of checking out for our refund of the parking we were informed that this was refunded I had to phone email about 6 times to be sent a copy of my refund when was 0 when looking at this they took the two beers which we thought we paid which was about £7 with the vat which should have been £2 to be refunded but they put an item regarding the room which balanced the £9.00 I emailed them to ask why and we are still waiting on a reply it may only be. £2.00 but I would rather give this to a charity that give this hotel anything extra I know this maybe a long review but please think before you even decide to go there it’s is awful it’s a shame as it could have potential Kathleen

Just returned from a short stay at Hay on Wye and visited this cafe every day! Really friendly staff, fantastic coffee and we also treated ourselves to a slice of carrot cake on our last day which was divine! We looked at the menu and there were lots of lovely things that we could have had if we were staying for breakfast or lunch. A good excuse to go back!

Nice lunch, but a bit expensive. Guinness and beef pie with chips and peas. Lots of meat but had one of those puff pastry lids out of a freezer. Ordinary frozen peas and about 12 chips that wouldn’t fill your eye. Tasted good but not worth £15. That’s the trouble with posh towns like Crickhowell. Too many tourists with too much money. Worth £8 at a push and no more.

Very unfriendly and rude towards me ruined my day as I was innocently sat there minding my own business and I got aggressively verbally attacked by a rude woman

We wanted to try this place again as we were excited by the news of a new chef and menu. The menu looked really good but straight away we were told a lot of it wasn't available. We had the buffalo chicken wings to start and the burnt ends. The buffalo wings were terrible. It looked like the sauce had just been added on - not marinated- and it looked and tasted like a horrible curry paste you would buy from the supermarket. We did question it to check we had the right sauce but were told that was correct. The wings themeselves were underwhelming too. The mains were OK but the meat was overcooked and the short ribs were very overpriced for what was on the plate. There was as much fat as meat - very disappointed. The loaded fries also lacked flavour. We were first in and the food came out in good time for us and the waiters were good and handled our complaints well. Very disappointing food though, especially as this is what they claim to specialise in, so unfortunately we will not be coming back.

Llegué para encontrar a mi esposo e hijo ya sentados, ya que me unía a ellos más tarde. Nadie los había reconocido en la heladería. Le pregunté a una joven cómo pedimos y nos lo dijo en el bar. Dio la vuelta al laberinto a la zona del bar y servía bastante rápido. Pedí un gofre y tocino, pero al parecer, no se puede tener los dos, ya que los gofres se hacen en el salón y el tocino en la cocina. Ok, no se puede evitar así que pedí otra cosa. La mujer con el pelo canoso bobbed no era grosera pero cortada y sí dijo gracias. A mitad de camino comiendo mi azúcar en la sangre bajaba rápidamente y mi marido tuvo que ir a pedir un zumo. estuvo bastante tiempo y así que me levanté para ver dónde estaba pero volvió con las manos vacías, bebí el zumo de mi hijo y mi marido dijo que estaba parado allí y la peluquera le gritó que estaba demasiado ocupada para servirle. Vino y se sentó y pude ver que estaba enojado, tragando su comida. Se fue poco después y mi hijo y yo nos quedamos. Mi hijo quería un crepé para llevar, así que fue al bar a pedir. Fui después de 5 minutos a buscarlo y no lo habían servido. Entonces, una jovencita vino y tomó su orden. Mientras esperábamos, nos pareció bastante estresante ya que la mujer con el pelo arqueado estaba haciendo llamadas telefónicas y había un ambiente extraño de ella, corriendo y ocupando el baño y el pasillo. Nadie sonrió o te hizo sentir bienvenido y nos pareció frío, poco acogedor y un lugar confuso. Mi comida era bastante buena.

I asked what the filling was on one of the sandwiches and the assistant said ‘hummus and mushroom ‘. I said yes please that would suit me fine ( I am vegetarian) . It cost just under £5. My husband chose a sandwich too and his too was just under £5. The assistant then thrust the card machine at us and asked if we wanted to give her a tip. Presumably for selling us the ready made sandwiches. When my husband hesitated she rudely asked our daughter , who was behind us in the queue, to explain to us what we needed to press ! We then walked to the beach to eat our sandwiches. Only to find my hummus and mushroom sandwich was in fact chicken and bacon ! I was left with no lunch !

We always visit this cafe when in Porthmadog. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. My wife has food intolerances but they always try to accommodate. The manager is especially helpful and friendly. The food is excellent, and cakes are really good. I have noticed some negative reviews on here regarding waiting times, this is a holiday town that gets very busy, the staff work exceptionally hard. Just relax, enjoy the moment, what’s the rush? Would definitely recommend this cafe.

Do not understand previous poor reviews about staff The staff on this morning were more than helpful the young lad carried our coffee to our table without being asked always have coffee here when my husband has to attend the Eye Clinic best coffee in town

Demasiado caro. Tuvimos una taza de café absoluta s**t x 4 a £ 4. 20 la taza. Loco por un dispensador no por una cafetera, redículamente caro. No me extraña que el lugar estuviera vacío. No volverá en el futuro. Realmente decepcionado.

Lovely place and The food was amazing Over all it was an amazing experience

Unprofessional doormen who attempted to escort a 50+ yr old woman out because she fell on a slippery dance floor in a private event with professional people. Very disappointed in their handling of a situation. Chief doorman gained some respect back by his handling of the situation. More concerned with bureaucracy than human interaction. Very disappointed.
