Lovely little gem this place. Fabulous breakfast and so peaceful. The owner is so friendly. Very relaxing and Italian music was playing so it had that feel of being there. Definitely go back again. Highly recommended.

Food is great ,a bit slow on service

Comfortable dining experience and lovely food and Staff

I decided to have a meal in Benitos and found the service to be deplorable and the meal was even worse and i was served with the most dreadful chicken curry that i have ever experienced. I complained, but I encountered a poor attitude from some of the staff. I will never go inside Benitos again.

My teenage daughter, my partner and I went for Sunday lunch. My daughter chose lasagne which was a microwaveable one with oven chips, she had two mouthfuls before she decided it wasn’t nice and couldn’t eat it. My partner and I chose beef dinner. The meals came promptly five minutes after ordering which leads me to believe they were all microwaved. The beef was chewy and inedible, the one roast potato wasn’t roasted but soft, maybe from being heated back up. The vegetables were mush, tasteless and overcooked. There was a small Yorkshire pudding, a frozen type reheated and a small chunk of stuffing. It was awful!

I’ve only ever been here for the breakfast but what a fantastic one it was! Big portions with reasonable prices! Everything is very clearly cooked fresh and the staff are very welcoming! Highly recommend!

I went for lunch ordered a meal with just a few chips as I wasnt that hungry when meal arrived omelette burned and a huge mound of chips (have pictures) asked them to take chips away and asked for salt as none on table salt shaker clogged so asked for another one u able to eat omelette as burnt staff member at counter verbally attacked me telling me I had had been rude and trouble two more staff gathered around me I was totally shocked by there accusations and said they had the wrong person as I had been polite saying please and thankyou as I always do they continued to be aggressive so I left extremely upset contacted manager to make complaint multiple times and had no reply terrible service terrible place and cannot believe thet think the best way to deal with genuine complaint from a 76yr old woman is to surround her and verbally attack her disgraceful upsetting totally unnecessary .

Nice cup of coffee and friendly atmosphere

Ordered 3 meals 2 of which were completely inedible, staff were rude with terrible service, coffee was just a cup of hot milk. Definitely won’t be going back.

Spacious nice and clean,lovely polite staff. They do a lovely latte just how I like it,i must say food coming out looked lovely,I only had a tea cake as had my breakfast but will definitely give it a go next time I am in Risca.

Looks lovely from the outside then you walk in. Needs a makeover badly. and the language coming from staff in kitchen was awful. It was freezing cold inside too, We sat down and ordered 2 breakfasts which were awful. Safe to say We won’t be returning

We popped in here for breakfast before travelling to PorthCawl. When we arrived we were told to sign in and take a table. Immediately you can see that the place can't decide what it want's to be...a greasy spoon or a restaurant and the table was sticky. It looked like the place could not only do with a good clean but it is also tired looking. We ordered a cooked breakfast for one and a poached eggs with a serving of friend bread. After over an hour of waiting I asked where our food was and 2 members of staff walked into the kitchen. When our food finally arrived the friend bread had its own grease swimming pool and the breakfast came with fried bread missing. At that point the second woman came out of the kitchen shouting at the members of staff that from now on they will put the time on the orders. There was no subtlety, no politeness to her sharp tongue and no chance of her hiding her disgust at the fact that there had been a complaint made. We won't be going back there and I do not recommend it. There are far cheaper priced and better places to eat, especially when members of staff stomp around the place asserting their authority in front of the customers.

Hard to believe this place is getting any bad reviews, visited many times over the last few years and the food has always been to a high standard, customer service has been brilliant, always made to feel welcome, prices are more than reasonable would highly recommend to anyone.

Breakfast@benitos only things that let it down was tepid tea and coffee breakfast itself was delicious would have been five stars if drinks had been hot will. try again

Impromptu visit at breakfast time for me and a friend. I live near the area and had never visited before. Nice enough I suppose but I struggle to see how it describes itself as a restaurant as it looks and feels more like a café. Actually other cafe's in the area are cleaner and a lot more modern and welcoming. Staff were nice enough and quite helpful and served us 2 full breakfast plates with cups of tea. Food was basic and tasted low quality. I requested some sauce and was given a bottle of Lidi's own brand sauce. Says it all really .........

Visited for an all day breakfast with four others. Meals were of good quantity and quality. Staff very friendly and helpful. All enjoyed their meals.

I had all day breakfast and milky coffee. Great food, great atmosphere, can't wait to try an Italian nx and an evening meal.

Food was lovely, we had a belly buster breakfast and a vegetarian breakfast which my partner really enjoyed. Restaurant was clean and tidy and the staff where really friendly and approachable :)

Needs refurb and good clean esp the carpets, doesn't look like it been painted in very long time shame as it let's the place down

What a terrible place went there for mothers day lunch booked table well in advance when arrived given a menu starter choice was veg soup garlic mushrooms pate and prawns when waitress took order no prawns no veg soup no pate left only starter left garlic mushrooms main lasagne beef chicken.no lasagne left only had 3 lasagne in all day starters arrived garlic mushrooms tasted not nice and they offered butternut squash soup which was like pureed squash with bread and butter waited over hour food still not out left restaurant will not be returning

The place looks a bit grubby more like a cafe than a restaurant. We were told when booking that we could order from Mother’s Day menu and main menu,that was not the case we were given a Sunday Lunch menu and were told we had to order from that . When ordering from that menu from the choice of 4 starters only 2 were available and from choice of 3 mains again only 2 available. After waiting over a hour our staters came and they were awful we decided to cancel mains and left will not be returning

This is the second time visiting Benitos . Had the special breakfast , it was lovely cooked well , good portions , the staff are excellent , quick to serve but not hovering around . It's good food , cheap enough and thoroughly enjoyable . Will most definately come again.

Proprietor was very helpful with excellent customer care, friendly, helpful and was on first name terms with the customers. Service was quick with breakfast cooked to a high standard and the chef should be proud, and I passed on my good wishes

Booked a celebratory family Sunday lunch on the 25th of November for the 16th of December for 7 people. Had a phone call from the owner 15 days later less than a week until the booking saying - 'we are not doing Sunday lunch as we have a party the night before'. That is just not acceptable, how can he only just notice a booking? Have been there before for breakfast and given good reviews; while there had heard the staff cancelling other Sunday bookings and thought nothing of it. Now we know this business takes bookings then if something better comes along he cancels customers. He has made sure its very difficult to rebook anywhere else with this short notice at Christmas time. Shame on you Benitos. One of the questions Trip Advisor asks is - does the venue take bookings - Ha yes this one does, but if they get a better offer the night before - forget it!

29 of us went for a Xmas meal at Benito's. Everything went really well with no complaints about any of the 3 courses. Ben and his staff were great checking that all was good and having a laugh with us as well. Catered for vegetarian and gluten free customers and double checked their options before eating. Would highly recommend

While visiting Newport getting passport needed somewhere to get a bite to eat and drink couldn’t have picked a better place! Lovely food and friendly helpful staff put at at ease. Great place 🙂

Tinned tomatoes not fresh and the toast was more like thin warm bread as it wasn't really browned and spread not butter just in the middle of the slice. Wouldn't go again.

Great home cooked Sunday dinner. Great value for money. The decor could be updated but I wouldn't hesitate to return for the food.

Called in on a Saturday early afternoon. Breakfast menu still being served so chose beans on toast. Generous portion of beans and thick cut brown toast. I ordered 2 extra toast on the side and an americano coffee. All in £5.30 which I thought excellent value. Friendly staff - owner and young waitresses all very helpful. Would definitely come again if in the area. Recommended.

Haven't been here in a while but last time I visited had great food, was very good offering and helping me with gluten free, offered me gluten free pasta loved the food they brought out for me! Will visit again soon thank you

Three of us called in for breakfast and we were suprised at how big the place is inside. All three breakfasts were cooked well, plentiful and good value. Service was good also.

Always come here with family for breakfast on a Saturday, and have never been disappointed. Staff are always very welcoming, and they always remember you, even if it's your 2nd time there. The food is outstanding, and the chef/owner, Ben will always come out and...

Good welcome but the place is very tatty looking food good but awful cooking smells and a haze from the fryers eyes sore from the smoke dont seem to have extraction in the kitchen
