Costa Coffee in Caerphilly

It’s the season of ill will in Costa!! I met up with a friend for a coffee and got fined for my trouble!! In these times of financial hardship Costa is clearly not too bothered about retaining its customers as fining its patrons doesn’t feel like a smart marketing ploy!! Costa please read the room buying a coffee is a luxury, you won’t have any customers left!!

what a sad state of affairs when you meet friends and stay for 2 coffees each and find your 17mins past your parking time and end up with a £100 parking fine just like the cost of their coffee a total rip off starbucks much better anyway

Love this place. Friendly staff, consistent good coffee. Usually a flat white though known to have the occasional cortado. Love the 'regulars' that visit as well as new friends. Saw some comments about quality and smoke coming through doors. I always sit towards the front to be nosey and people watch. Have never experienced this in 2 years. Only issue is door stays ajar about an inch if pushed or pulled opened, so can be chilly if windy outside. No issues otherwise. Would reccomend.

Popped in for a coffee as my usual indepenant coffee shop was not open, I ordered an Americano, wish I hadn't bothered, it was not very good. The atmosphere is not good, the smell of smoke wafting in everytime the door opens is very unpleasant; no return for me I'm afraid, will be visiting my usual idepenant coffee shop who care what they serve you and you even get a smile.

Went to buy some muffin and a cold drink in costa and one lady served me. The customer service is very bad and not very professional. Lady was miserable and just Throw my drink on the counter. Bad attitude and a bad service overall , rather buy my coffee in greggs.

Thought we would treat ourselves today and try one of the festive treats so we went for the purple one latte which is £3.99 by the way but we thought oh well it's a treat after all so the young girl who served us was so miserable and never smiled or was polite in anyway shape or form so I ordered our drinks only then to be told that they had no cream for the topping I'm not being funny but if you are going to pay prices like this for a coffee at least have all the trimmings to go with it and it would off been nice to have a service with a smile,please and thank you wish I had just gone to greggs for half the price and a happier atmosphere 👎🙄

No reflection on the over-worked one lad working behind the counter, we had to stand for ages, getting more and more stressed, for our order was prepared whilst he served other people. Not good enough when you consider the amount they charge you!

Have visited this costa frequently since covid and time to get through the drive thru is always high but today took 40mins. When I got to the window one staff member apologised they didn’t have the staff. I feel for the staff but whoever is managing the store is doing so poorly as it is constantly slow & I see multiple people turning round before too late so business is being lost.

Am trying to stay loyal to this place but am now joining the dozens of ex regulars who are fed up with dirty tables, cigarette smoke (from staff), rude staff, and reduced opening hours. Voting with my feet like many and drinking in Esquires. My family have had enough.

On shopping in the area I was caught short and had to use the loo urgently. So I called into Costas in Caerphilly precinct to ask if I could use there toilet and explained that I am disabled, a fact testified by my walking aid, and I was told I'd have to buy something first but I would have to join the end of the line to do so. I had to leave Costa to quickly find another available loo. To my embarrassment, I didn't Make it. Before lockdown I was on, occasion, a customer of Costa but will never go there again.

Appalling breakfast deal - could not bite into bacon bap as it was far too hard. Microscopic portion of bacon. Very disappointed!

Prefer to go to Glanmores. It is so off putting when everytime we visit we have to 'hold our breath' to pass the smokers. I thought there was a rule that smoking area had to be certain distance from entrance?? You can only sit outside if you are a smoker.

Tables were cleared and plenty of seating, our pots of tea were served quickly and staff were friendly had a toasted tea cake which was reasonably priced. Friends had sandwiches which they enjoyed.

Sick of wasting my money here - its 1-10 if you can drink the coffee or not. How a specialist coffee shop can't make a consistently good cup of coffee is beyond me. How this place is still open Is beyond me. Costa management - you need to re assess the viability of this store - hire new staff or management. Call me crazy but when you open a coffee shop - making a good cup off coffee is the minimum. worst Costa's in the country!! in my opinion

Queueing regularly takes up to 15 mins. Very busy Very cramped It's clear they have outgrown the premises. Recent improvements have not really helped. Good coffee that's typical of every Costas I've been too.

The shop was a filthy dirty state. the tray was so dirty that it left marks on the rim where i picked it up. There were 2 members of staff trying to clean tables and just one member of staff taking the orders and preparing the drinks and food. Customers were queuing to the door. It took us 15 minutes to be served by what i can only describe as a member of staff with no job satisfaction. Then the other members of staff came over to assist. now remember they have been cleaning tables and picking up dirty cups etc yet not one of them washed their hands and started to prepare food SERIOUSLY.The coffee was so hot that we both burnt our mouths. I would suggest completely bypassing this coffee shop and finding else where to get a decent coffee.

Visit often with friends for coffee and occasional piece of cake. Prices for cake are a little expensive however this is the same as other coffee chains. Love the bread that is used to make the toast!! Only thing I would change is to make the shop bigger as it does get awfully busy and have to wait a while for tables to become free.

As I shop in Caerphilly on a regular basis I have frequented this Costa a lot. I have noticed in the last 18 months that standards have increasing dropped. I have now stopped going. The establishment is filthy, the tables are left stacked with dirty plates and cups from previous customers. The products on sale are not of very good quality and are very expensive for what they are. The toilets are almost vomit inducing, filthy and insanitary. The layout of the coffee shop is poor, bottle necked around the serving area, noisy and not conducive to conversation and the seating areas are cramped. The few more spacious areas often taken over by "coffee shop warriors" on their lap tops (plugged in to the wall) and the staff do nothing to discourage these inconsiderate individuals. It is inadvisable to sit near the front of the shop as the stench of cigarette smoke billows in from the smokers outside.

Coffee ok.Tables need clearing and wiping. Carpets need hoovering just a mess. May be because busy but no excuse.

We visited Costa in Caerphilly after having a walk around the castle wr had 2 Frostino's and as always with costa they were great.

I used to go there sometimes but not anymore cause is not in my way, but is a good place for a caffee

We were visiting Caerphilly Castle so popped in here for a quick refuel. It was very busy with a long queue but the staff were welcoming, apologising for the wait. It turned out that the line moved much faster than anticipated. Toasted tea cakes were brought to our table. Very clean inside, not like many of these places where the plates and cups seem to hang around on tables waiting to be cleared. Excellent staff and a nice stop.

There had been definite improvements in the cleanliness and service at Costa in Caerphilly. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the cafe was clean. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming

As these places go it's far from the best. The coffee is often too cool and the wait too long but I suppose this is quite normal at a Costa. People site outside and smoke which often wafts in to the long narrow shop. Staff are ok but change a lot.

My Church (Connect Life Caerphilly) held two Christmas events in Costa Caerphilly. The atmosphere was great. The baristas were so accommodating and pleasant. It was great to celebrate the birthday of Jesus in a fun place and fun atmosphere

No normally I don't stop at Coffee shops. But this one is situated in Castle court shopping centre Caerphilly.

I came into Costa to get a hot chocolate and to feed my baby on a chilly day. I was on my own with my baby so the manager found me a seat, took my order and brought it to the table. As I was in the middle of feeding my baby when she brought my drink, she told me to pay when I was ready and asked if I’d also like a drink of water with ice. What a lovely gesture.

Typical Costa Coffee bar. Reasonable service and speed of delivery. However once again the toilet facilities at this cafe leave loads to be desired. Untidy, damp floors and looking like they need a good cleaning

Lovely staff and service. Lovely inside with clean tables and clean toilets. Nice access for a pram and the toilets and changing facilities are great.

I always pop in when in my local town.... Good for people-watching (Welsh valley town type of people- watching!!!). At least Costas' chains offer soya milk now so always have a very good soya milk cappuccino....

Seating outside is 99% of the day occupied by "regulars" who sip a coffee for hours on end & smoke - it's not exactly inviting when the language used is certainly choice . Inside though , the tables are cleaned quite quickly. Sometimes struggling with large queues , the limited staff numbers work hard to move it along as best they can but the queue tends to back up at the end of the line due to conversation ( not ideal when you are in a rush & want a takeaway) Convenient , you know the prices are genetic across the chain & food is good

Avoid if you don't want to smell like an ashtray !!Weekday mornings patio area full of smokers with dogs. You need to walk through this to get inside..very off putting.

We chose here whilst on a short visit as easier for friends to get to for a catch up.The queues were quite long & it was very hot inside.There was only one table outside so that wasn't an option.Once husband was served he asked if they could put cool air on & they were happy to which was a relief.It was clean & tidy.Staff were lovely & friendly.

The staff are fantastic! The coffee shop offers great coffee with a friendly atmosphere, and a lovely seating area. Its a bit small, could do with a bigger shop, and better vegan food x

Costa Coffee offer a good atmosphere, furnishings and above all good coffee. However, the uncleanliness of the toilets in this coffee shop often leaves a lot to be desired.

Had a lovely cappuccino and my partner had a specialty coffee. Really good as always. Nice ambience, good service from friendly staff. Highly recommended

Tables were coverd in dirty dishes. We cleared our own table. Toilets were not clean. Servicve is slow due to under staffed team.

I have stopped using this costa as I find it overcrowded and at times dirty. The staff can't clear the tables due to the amount of customers coming in and out. The "regulars" which are often sat right outside, are always smoking and it always filters into the café because of the traffic of people, the door is always open. Its not all bad news, although they are busy the staff are friendly and normally really quick with the order, although my previous lattes have been disastrous. I like costa but not the Caerphilly one, there's plenty of better options for a cheaper price close by (visitors centre).

This Costa really is a local cafe, lovely staff who care for the customers. Newbies are always made welcome. In town centre opposite castle.

Done a bit of shopping in Morrisons and Argos...nice relaxing coffee despite the smoke drifting in.....2 weeks later,an £85 fine lands on my doormat for being over 2 Hours.....Wont be going to this shopping center again.....

Disappointed that u don't give military discount and disappointed that u offered no discount when sitting inside with a takeout cup as ur machine broke dwn.. I understand that things happen beyond ur control but after many visits which this will be my last, I feel as as u always seem to be full an av customers queueing up for so long u are not bothered about customers satisfaction... If u ad notices up about ur cup situation we would not av queued for so long and gone elsewhere , also other pple in queue said the same .. I will however say that not all costa coffee is like this one

I have visited this Costa on many occasions & it’s usually pretty good, staff are friendly & place usually busy but clean tables. Usually just have a coffee but have ordered toast cakes etc. Just like any other Costa really good value & worth a visit.

I am a regular of this Costa and I usually find the staff friendly although there has been the odd occasion where this isn't so. The coffee is of a good standard and the food too although I do think its a little over priced. The coffee shop is a fair size but it needs a good clean and tables need to be cleared regularly to allow new diners to sit without cups around them. The toilets are always dirty and I do try to avoid using them if I can.

Most of these places are the same, you know the coffee is going to be good, as are the various snacks/cakes/cookies. What I like most about this particular branch is its location. Its just across the road from Caerphilly Castle, is part of the Castle court shopping area, and theres even a bus stop 50m away. Easy to get to wherever you are coming from, and convenient to drop in on the way home. Theres a lovely community feeling to this place, particularly on a morning. Staff are particularly good, polite, efficient and friendly. They really do make you feel like you are a valued customer regardless of whether its your first time visiting, or as a seasoned regular. There are cheaper places to get a coffee, but not that make the experience as comfortable and pleasant as here.

There was nothing wrong with the tea and coffee we had, but we found the room small and cramped on what was admittedly a very busy day. We thought that the staff were a little overwhelmed, as any vacant tables weren't being cleared for quite a while.We've been to much better organised Costa's than this one.

There's no listing for Costa nantgarw but this is the nearest one. I and my friend Kathy would like to say Thankyou to Caitlin in the cinema coffee shop as she was really friendly, remembered our weird coffee order immediately and was basically fab. Thanks Caitlin!

I popped in here for a quick coffee this afternoon, there were tables outside but they hadn't been cleared for some time. There were a few customers inside but not so many as a typical busy Costa. The air conditioning was working well and it was nice and cool. There was no queue and two Barista, one was sticking on labels the other was busy chatting to a friend, both knew I was waiting. I took out a banknote and my Costa Club Card and after several minutes waiting I left feeling very disappointed with the lack of service.

Live locally so call in here regularly, always get good service and staff are lovely, food is your standard Costa drinks and food but always served with a smile and friendly chat

What annoys me about this place is the stink of smoke and the smoking blowing into my baby's pram if I want to enter. Once inside you have to see if you can find a seat as it is ALWAYS busy. Prepare to queue... Coffee and toasted sandwiches are nice. but when leaving you have to go past the smokers again... YUK!!!!!

Popped in this morning for a mocha latte but for the third time in visiting, left with nothing. I was in the queue for five minutes and it didn't move. The staff were too busy talking to each other instead of pitching in.I do feel that one coffee machine is not enough, most of their sister venues have two machines.I do wish another coffee shop would open down the shopping centre as it would force Costa to review the way they are running this shop.

Lovely coffee as always from costa, however, the area between the counter and seating area is too tight for space. There is not enough room to manoeuvre safely with a pram......too many people squeezing past with hot coffee over a pram! Give it a miss if you have little ones!

I've been coming here for a few years now and I think it's great. I've got two young children and I never feel rushed or unwelcome, it always feels like somewhere we can go and sit and chat and enjoy nice coffee and cakes. It can be busy but surely that's a good sign?If there's a mistake with something the staff are so nice you can just say and it gets sorted. I've been in many a Costa but this one is the best.

Ventured out with my niece for the first time on my own. Never the easiest with pram, christmas shopping and a 10mth old. The staff were really helpful and welcoming. I have been here a few times, my drinks never disappoint and it is always clean with a lovley atmosphere. Sometimes in the past i have struggled with seating but that cant helped and is just a good reflection of how popular it is. Overall a lovley place to stop for a coffee.

I visit here a few times a month as I do like their drinks but it is always very busy and difficult to get a seat. This was especially true when I took my Mother who is in a wheelchair there and because there is very little space in there due to the layout of the place we found it quite difficult getting people who were queuing up to order to move so we could get past and get a seat at the back, the only table available. I believe the chairs by the windows should be priority for disabled people as it is simply quite difficult getting a wheelchair to the back without causing too much bother and it can be quite unsafe seeing as people are carrying hot drinks.

About what you should expect for a Costa, today the card machine was broken so a pain for a lot of people who didn't have cash!Other than that clean comfy and warm with friendly staff :)

Lovely coffee, food variety is expanding. Love the decor, just wish it was bigger. Only downside is that there's always a queue but this does go down quire fast, just puts you off a little bit. The staff are always good humoured even when they are at their busiest which I find quite incredible, don't think I would. So staff get a 10 out of 10 from me.

We looked at the Caerphilly centre but it only seemed to have sweet food. We looked at Cadwaladers but it was crowded. Costa came next and provided what we wanted and what we expected. Just the job

As a coffee connoisseur, I love Costa Coffee. With a full range of coffees and teas plus cakes and sandwiches, truly the best in the town. Only one slight problem, it does get very busy and a little noisy but that only reflects how well it is doing as a business.

Relax in comfort and style. After the tour around the castle this cafe was just what was needed . The range of food and the quality was extensive from custard tarts to lovely sandwiches with glutton free bread if required.

The Costa Coffee in the centre of Caerphilly may be a good place for a coffee, but the service was not very good and the place was not very clean.

Good atmosphere and friendly staff make this place always welcoming. Particularly addicted to the raspberry ripple fancies

Love Costa coffee but this is not one of the best coffee shops I have ever visited. Service can be hit and miss and I think the coffee is reasonable but not the best. Visited a lot of better Costa outlets.

We are not great fans of Costa but, you know what you will get; don't you, and as strangers in town, we needed to eat.First impressions. The floor is untidy, tables uncleared properly and the place is not even half full and we see four staff.It's clearly a matriarchy, as one bloke is clearing whilst the ladies await a possible customer; there's no queue.We chose a table for two, sip our coffees, um, Americanos are usually stronger than this.My wife finds the sugar but no napkins, ah, there they are; on the floor!In spite of our efforts we cannot escape the other customers, an infant with a tantrum, a toddler learing the rudiments of eating out and two adults who clearly cannot judge distance and speak as if they are two 200 yards apart rather than 2.Our sandwiches arrive, toasties, no napkins, no one has looked downwards for them, Somehow they didn't taste a ok as usual either.We ate quickly and departed rapidly, including a toilet visit; this migth be the best part of the premises.Top tip; take a flask and sandwiches.

I have been to many a Costa coffee however this one stands out. Customise your regular franchise offering you the same product. However at this Costa, the staff look as if they were randomly pulled from the bus stop. They know how to make coffee or serve cake. Nonetheless, they lack the etiquette of service. For simple graces such as, "thank you" – "you're welcome"are of luxuries at this place

Had a lovely Chicken Toastie, Latte and Lemon Cake, really enjoyed. Staff excellent as always, great with kids too.

Average Costa Coffee, may be slightly too tiny considering how close it is to the Castle. Standard product you can find all over UK.

Some of the staff are great and understand customer service. Other times they fall so short of the mark that I just don't risk going in anymore. When they are good they deliver what you would expect from a chain like costa. When they are bad they get drink orders wrong, don't ask if you want a receipt and underfill the takeaway cups. once they gave my drink to someone else and after I pointed it out, they handed it to me even though someone else had already drank from it!

Take my sons to Costa in Caerphilly on the odd occasion for a hot chocolate. It is expensive, which is why it's a treat. There are now 3 cafe's within 50 yards of each other so we'll go for the cheaper option. Unless of course Costa start to provide something that little bit extra, afterall they aren't Starbucks are they?

I liked the atmosphere of Costas however their coffee isn't great. Food selection is quite vast but I think it is a bit pricey. Free WIFI

We are regular Costa customers so know and like what we get. However, the new Paradise Road blend is a great new addition.The Caerphilly outlet is a big improvement on what we have got used to in Surrey. It is brighter and has some great Italian-themed artwork on the walls. Like all multiples there is a big dose of similarity between outlets but this is definitely above the norm and recommended.Service was excellent.

I went there for a cup of coffee the staff were ok and the coffee always seems to strong it be ok if it was not strong

The coffee always tastes like burnt coffee beans. Recently had one of their new drinks, Latte iced cooler, it was disgusting. There is nothing I like about Costa. Overpriced rubbish.

We visited this branch after having visited the castle. We always try to use Costa wherever possible as we prefer their coffee. Unfortunately this time we were unimpressed by our visit. The server at the till seemed to be more interested in chatting with her friends in the queue behind me than actually listening to my order. Fair play she did actually take note that I asked for white cups and not glasses for my lattes and relayed this to the barista making the coffee.The wait for the coffees was longer than needed. This time the barista decided to chat with the same friends as the server. I had to remind her that I wanted cups not glasses and then had to ask which coffee was which, when I got the tray left in front of me. Customer relation courses are in desperate need at this branch sadly

Nothing really unusual with the way I was served. The lady behind the counter hasn't smile but I understand as it was a busy time but maybe next time?

I visit this branch of Costa maybe five times a week on average so I know the place well in terms of customer service and quality of coffee etc.It's in an excellent position for watching the world go by being part of a busy small shopping centre. Since the place was updated and redecorated fairly recently it's generally clean, modern looking and a pleasure to visit. Like all coffee shops the owners need to CONSTANTLY replace furniture and DEEP CLEAN as customers frequently spill coffee and other drinks. So far, this branch of Costa is wearing well.The staff at Caerphilly are amongst the friendliest in South Wales - and I've visited just about every other branch many times so am able to make a valid comparison. If a customer is at all dissatisfied with any item purchased they invariably address the issue promptly and without quibble - if they didn't I for one would not visit so often!There are two minor problems with the premises themselves - some idiot positioned the newspaper rack right above a table whereby the occupants of said table are disturbed every time a newspaper is borrowed or returned. For goodness sake MOVE the thing, Costa management! The second problem lies with the air conditioning on occasions where the temperature is set to suit the staff rather than the customers...........

Ordered two teas and asked to be served with teacups instead of those giant coffee cups. The member of staff appeared hesitant at first then went rummaging about for appropriate cups having found the cups he then wiped the insides with his forefinger. The cups were not teacups but cups for expresso coffee,he then furnished us with two very long handled icecream spoons ,even the milk jugs were odd. Never again!

Second time of visiting this branch of costa and I will not be visiting again! Service is by some grumpy staff who clearly do not want to serve you. The order was wrong and when advised it was the wrong coffee no apologies just a huff and ok!! Place is dirty ... No need for bad customer service best avoided

Generally I don't like eating in chained places but as there are a lack if decent places to eat in town I eaten here. It has a nice relaxed pace to it and makes the customers feel welcome and the range of foods on offer is suitable for the establishment. Personally i'd prefer to eat on an independent place though and keep the local economy but at least this place us clean, the food is is pleasant and the customer service is excellent.

Costa here is nice and cosy, staff are warm and friendy, seems that things in Wales are generally on a smaller scale than in England? The whole shopping centre seems quite new with Morrisons well accessible and Asda a stones throw away. I don't know if it's our British arrogance but after a week of the Welsh's slow paced attitude to life,it became slightly annoying which sounds very rude but is'nt meant to be! We live in a ' Do It Now ' world where as these guy's like to have chat whilst doing it!!

Cost Coffee is the best!The service is amazing and the staff are helpful the coffee is well made and delicious

Being local residence of Caerphilly and lovers of coffee shops we regularly frequent this particular Costa Coffee. We have always found the staff friendly albeit very busy. It does seem to take some time for the staff to clear away the previous "diners" remains but this, in our opinion, is not due to lazyness but because they always seem to be rushed off their feet. When we have visited on quiter times the place has always been very tidy.In terms of price and what's available to eat and drink - well it's a Costa's, they're all the same and we like them :-).

I live locally, and visit this Costa probably once a month. On my last visit, the shop was untidy, behind the counter looked as mess and the staff seemed tired. One member of staff was taking down the Christmas posters and putting up the new offers, thats fine, except that all the empty tables had dirty dishes on them. People were moving the dishes to other tables to clear for themselves, I find that really annoying! Behind the counter was a mess, not dirty, but a mess, which is a pity as it used to be so tidy. I understand coffee shops can be busy, this was not one of these times. Finally the staff, nothing wrong with the general politeness, except as I say, they all looked so tired and possibly unmotivated. I want them to improve and hopefully this was just a unfortunate visit for me, I will return, as the coffee and general atmosphere of the shop is ok.
