Very nice coffee but very rude staff no thank you or a smile just put your drinks on on the counter and turned there back on you replace the staff and I would give 5 stars

Came in gor lunch. Service was very poor. Given wrong good. Toilets sbsolutely appalling!!! Will never put deep in here again.

Asked for a flat white to sit in told only serving drinks in takeaway cups to save on washing up! All condiments taken from public area as well had to ask 3 times for a stirrer a sugar and a serviettw yet charged £3.15 for the pleasure! Come on Coffee1 sort your customer service out!

Came in for breakfast was told no bread for toast so opted for granola oh none of that either told delivery is every 3 days and they are out of stock absolutely shocking for coffee shop?????

Staff here are amazing always smiling and always happy to help. I bought a coffee machine recently so I bought beans at coffee 1 (which staff where happy to grind free of charge) being new to coffee machines the staff some helpful hints of how to use, how much powder to use etc. The staff always keep the shop clean and I have witnessed them on numerous occasions cleaning the tables down after each use. This is the best coffee shop in Newport by far I for one won't go anywhere else.

My husband and I visit Coffee 1 every weekend after a session at the gym . The staff are always friendly you always get service with a smile .Nothing is ever too much for them The coffee is my favourite out of all the coffee chains in Newport. It always has a great atmosphere there a nice relaxing place to enjoy a great tasting cup of coffee.

I went in on a Sunday afternoon which wasn’t very busy. Most of the tables didn’t have dishes on them but we’re covered in coffee stains And crumbs, so I wiped a table over myself. Not a great first impression considering Covid is high at the moment. I have found that everytime I have visited in the last year, whereby there has been a significant change over of staff, that the new staff are very blunt and not very welcoming. They never offer any extras which previous staff do, sometimes you just forget to add the cream to your order not really thinking, and it’s nice to know staff will offer the option, but this doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, not sure if up selling is a priority for the company anymore? Even the little things like adding chocolate or cinnamon to the top of the drink gets neglected now. Also the staff never ask if you want anything else and quickly proceed to payment. I personally try to ask for one thing at a time because in the past I have tried to order everything at once and been told to slow down so they can process each item, but clearly it’s a lose lose situation- do this and you’re rushing staff, don’t do this and you don’t get your full order. There were pigeons in the store as well as numerous flies which I had to notify staff of four times even though I was sat at the back of the store and they still managed to let them get right through the shop floor. Again, this is on a Sunday afternoon where it is not overly busy and staff were mostly just stood around chatting between customers. I also accidentally spilled my drink. I tried to ask for help but staff were unresponsive due to serving other customers. Luckily there was D10 spray and blue roll on the side so I mopped it all up myself, however I do feel like there could be some health and safety risks to this of slipping on the floor as no one responded to put a wet floor sign down. Ultimately I feel like the store is not as welcome or nearly as clean as it used to be. The staff are not welcoming and I felt uncomfortable even sitting in there due to lack of hygiene. In the end I decided to walk out and go to the Starbucks across the road because it seemed a lot more comfortable. I miss the local coffee shop vibe this place to give off. It seems like everyone who works there doesn’t want to be there and doesn’t care about building good relationships with customers that keep them coming back like the old staff used to. Think I’ll be looking for a new regular place at this rate.

The staff at coffee 1 newport are very friendly and give very good service. The cafe is kept very clean every tables sanitised after every customer.

What a fantastic experience, I was greeted warmly by Sian who treated me like a friend. She was so bubbly and enthusiastic. The service was fantastic. The track and trace was so easy to do with no fuss, the atmosphere was relaxed but professional. Another staff member Leia came in and was just as enthusiastic and bubbly as Sian . I was so happy with the attitude of the staff and the atmosphere i will definitely frequent the coffee shop on a more regular basis.

I visited Coffee 1 in Friars Walk after some time away and was very pleasantly surprised by the changes I found in all areas, especially in the atmosphere, cleanliness, choice of and display of food and staff attitude. Apparently this had been due to the appointment of a new manager who seems to have implemented many of the changes and it does seem to be working, the shop was busy and buzzing, I very much look forward to my next visit keep up the good work well done .

just now A male chstomer was clearing tables and was behind the counter dealing with said dishes and was coming up to people very closely at their tables which would've made me uncomfortable anyways but especially as he was not social distancing or cleaning his hands, the staff not observing or encouraging social distancing, asked for skimmed milk was given whole and one of the three female staff working looked like she was busy but was doing very little of anything when there were lots of dirty tables and she was allowing the customer to clear them (and didn't even stop him coming behind the counter!) There are signs up saying that they clear and clean tables after each use but this isn't the case at all. Will not be returning.

Coffee was lovely but please get some process in place for taking orders. We had to wait for each customer to finish paying and doing track and trace before the next order was taken. Waited 15 mins with only 3 ppl ahead of me.

I have been a customer of Coffee 1 since it was first opened by James Sheppard. Unfortunately I have noted how the service has deteriorated. The service is very slow. The staff appear to be lack confidence and training. Such a shame as this was our favoured coffee shop.

Great coffee and convivial atmosphere. Well worth a visit if you are i the city centre. Not a huge selection of food but fine if you just want a snack.
