Would definitely recommend The Dragonfly.

Great food. Mike, Jamie and Eileen were lovely.

A few options on the menu not available but what we did order was delicious. Kelly was an amazing server, really friendly and helpful.

We had gone to visit our daughter and decided to visit the Dragon Fly (I hasten to add this is more than a 15 minute drive from our daughters house. Lack of detail when meal of Sunday Roast of Beef delivered to my husband - no Yorkshire Pudding, and beef was very fatty. Desert of drink with mini pudding - Apple & Backberry Crumble presented with juices all having overflowed and baked, then the custard was put into a little jug which had contained gravy, we knew this as gravy was still around the inside of the custard jug. We had deliberately booked for late afternoon (17.00) as we knew it would be quieter therefore no there was no excuse. Not worth the visit or cost. We have been to various other Village Inn establishments which are far superior.

Lovely place, food was great fresh and tasty, service was very friendly our waitress was Kelly she was very nice and helpful, cosy atmosphere.

Love the food here just the staff turn around is alot these days staff there one minute gone the next no idea whats going on.

Booked a table for 1:30. Order not taken. Had to order at the bar (ordered at 2:30). Food arrived at 15:00 along with a bad attitude from the waiting staff. Not sure what was going on. Normally good service, not this time!!!

Had a son and mummy dinner date start of the week. Staff lovely esp with my son. Seen they had a menu refresh. Son always orders pasta but Alex told him how amazing the pizza was. This was apparently the best pizza he has ever had. I tried the new signature burger, lovely. We occasionally pop in for take away desserts. Brownies are fabulous x

This used to be a great place to eat with efficient service and excellent food. Feels as if management is cutting cost with not enough staff for the volume of customers hence long wait for drinks and food and tables not being cleared. We really loved this pub but after today's meal we wont be returning to eat here again.

Food was ok, but not brilliant. The lasagne was very dry. The green garnish was very limp and peas were over cooked with the gammon. All the meals on the menu had fancy names even though they weren't accurate. Eg the pizza extra topping was labelled as "pulled chicken" whereas it was really chicken chunks. Which suited me as I'd prefer it as chunks. So why bother being fancy on the menu? Thinking about it now maybe I'd say the food was very disappointing. Food took a long time, visited on a Wednesday lunchtime around 12:15 and it took over an hour for the food to be served. Given the long waiting time you'd expect at least to be warned about it, but we weren't.

Atmosphere was very good with live music but unfortunately the food didn't match, the jasmine rice which accompanied the curry was solid and i was told it was sticky rice when I queried it. The chicken was also overdone. Fobbed off by the waitress and will not be returning.

Fantastic meal tonight! Love the live music doesn’t happen to often in pubs these days and really created a great atmosphere!! Only issue was the two waiting staff who was moody and moaning about it being loud.

Lovely cozy pub, had the lasagne and everything on the plate was delicious, from the cute salad bowl to the garlic bread! Very well priced too!

We went here and it was our first time and I was shocked, the best service ever! The food was outstanding and that the atmosphere was lovely. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone. And nothing was too much trouble for Liam he was lovely help since we haven’t visited there before.

Well first time visiting and I was blown away with the service from the begin to the end. Liam you’re doing amazing with the pub and I’m so happy it’s been taken over by someone with passion for the place. Beef was out of this world. We will be back again soon Liam thank you again l.

Visited for Mother's Day on March 10th. Was excited to visit with my family for a 3 course Sunday lunch at an affordable price. Only to leave quite disappointed. We got stuck in traffic, so rang to say we'd be 5/10 minutes late, only to be informed that when we arrived they may not be able to seat us as it's "very busy". We arrived 10 minutes after our booked time and were informed that time would come off our total stay, which was fine. There was a good amount of people in the restaurant, but a lot of tables were empty, so to say our table would be taken I felt was unnecessary. As we were seated at our table we received a text saying that our table was no longer available to us, even though we checked in with staff and were seated. It took around 20 minutes, and calling staff over to us to finally get our orders taken. The duck starter wasn't available, but we opted for soup and the mushrooms. All of which were delicious and nicely presented. We ordered our main Sunday lunches with no issues, however the issues arrived when we received our meals. I had a trio of meat lunch, my parents had beef. The quality difference of meat was shocking. The trio of meat lunch was nice. Turkey was my favourite. The beef was quite fatty and hard to cut. The pork had about 1 inch of meat and 3 inches of jelly fat. My mum's meal arrived and the beef was completely jelly-like and pink. Un-edible really. We enjoy medium well to well done, but this was more like rare, as it was so bloody and pink. We were not asked when ordering how we wanted our beef, so were surprised to see it cooked like this for a normal Sunday lunch. The staff were nice and took it back, informing us that it would be seared and cooked to a well-done standard. When we received the dish back, my mum had two new pieces of meat, that were seared and complete FAT. Couldn't even cut through it, it was like rubber. So we called staff over AGAIN, to be told it was the same two pieces of meat that were originally on her plate, even though they were smaller, thinner and complete fat. The server told us that if we returned it, the meat could come back pink again, so would we like turkey instead? My mum opted for the turkey, and when the completely new dish came it was better, and we enjoyed our meals. The cauliflower cheese was slightly undercooked as it was hard to cut through, as were the pigs in blankets (they were almost grey). For £3.50 a side, the quality should be up to standard. A lot of tables around us were returning their sides and potatoes for being undercooked. The desserts were lovely, probably the best bit of the whole meal. Our servers were nice but being served took such a long time. The head staff were quite rude. I appreciate Mother's Day is busy, but the restaurant wasn't bustling. It was a nice environment and felt comfortable. I was shocked to see the table in front of us after being cleared, to not be CLEANED before resetting the table for the next guests. Unacceptable. Overall an experience that we were looking forward to left us feeling a bit flat. Not sure if we would visit again.

Fantastic meal! Mother's day was full to the brim! Standards didn’t slip once! Food was popping hot and excellent had the roast beef and was perfect!

Absolutely shocking Worst food ever and absolutely ruined my mother day meal with my family First of all, two of the starters were sold out, we chose alternatives. We ordered 2 of the prawns Literally just some prawns and chorizo on some leaves No effort no dressing Rock hard bread, no butter offered We also ordered the Aranccini which said it come with creamy Chickpea humus which it didn’t The table was cleared quickly but the mains took far too long. I did ask where the mains where and was told they were being plated as we speak and on route Fifteen mins later still waiting Asked again where is the food. It come a few mins later. 1 x beef, 1 x turkey, 1 x trio, 1 x vegetarian The dinner was meant to have roast potatoes which looked boiled at best The veggie dinner had no Yorkshire, no parsnip, no gravy. Absolutely shocking, just some carrot, potato and broccoli with some disgusting minced vegetable concoction which was all freezing cold and quite frankly the most disgusting unappetising meal I’ve have ever been presented with I retuned it immediately. The trio dinner was cold, tiny amount of gravy given. The other dinners were cold, soggy, tasteless and my Mother in law had a Tuesday day dot in the veg. Our table was booked for 330 We had our main meals around 5pm We were hungry, fed up and utterly disappointed You took the veggie and turkey dinner off the bill which to be honest by no means made up for the appalling food we received The staff who served us were great, very apologetic, quick to clear table, bring menus, etc very attentive Overall I’m really appalled by my day today

Poor experience for Mother’s Day. We pre-booked and paid a deposit for three course menu. Sat down, drinks ordered, went to order our food only to be told ‘no starters available, only soup and beetroot Arancini. We hadn’t been warned of this prior to sitting down or when ordering drinks. Really disappointing considering we’d pre booked for a three course menu. We went to order the soup only to be told, ‘only one soup left sorry’, so for the rest of us it was the vegan option or nothing. We decided to leave it. It was a 50 minute wait for our mains. When asked what beers were on draft we were shown the servers tablet with ‘the blue ones’ instead of having the options read out. Servers also reached over foods to pass over gravy etc. When we went to pay our deposit hadn’t been taken off the bill so luckily we’d noticed or we would’ve ended up paying extra unnecessarily. Food was OK. Overall a really disappointing experience.

Visited today for mothers day, 2 Sunday lunches and 1 child's meal. All stunning. Arrived with in 20min of ordering. Our waitress was lovely as were all the staff. We arrived at 530pm. Dessert was absolutely amazing, we had banoffee pie and a children's brownie. Definitely eat it all again. We love coming here on special occasions. All the staff were lovely, and made you feel welcome.

So so disappointing, I was working away and wouldn't usually eat at somewhere like this as it's a little more expensive than my allowance allows but thought I'd treat myself to something nicer than a JD weather spoons, wished I'd not bothered, had the lasagne, it was burnt and dry, garlic bread was burnt, should have come with a side salad, it didn't, paid extra for chips £2,95 for 12 chips, wow don't bother

On this visit we had a very disappointing experience. -We arrived 10 minutes early but table wasn’t ready. We were told to wait in the bar. 25 minutes after booked time we were seated at a table that was free when we arrived. Whilst waiting in the bar as advised, I received a text to say I hadn’t turned up and table was cancelled. -There was a 50m wait on food but whilst waiting, no one could let us know when it would arrive -When food arrived plates were hot but food wasn’t -The meat was dry and tough mostly inedible, especially the pork belly as fat not rendered down -ran out of stuffing on Turkey dish so they offered pigs in blankets as substitute. Which were uncooked and they also tried to charge us for. - Dessert was offered but out of 7 desserts, 3 were not available. At 3.30pm this seems early to be running out of desserts -Whilst it was busy there didn’t seem enough staff and there was no organisation between the staff that was there. Very disappointing visit

Fancied meal out today as we don’t go out very often these days (!) and came across this pub. Friendly venue served by Trish made us welcome. Had lunch which was amazing special mention to the chef Ellie fantastic meal and served with a smile thank you guys made our day out a little extra special!!!

Had the hunters chicken schnitzel, which was decent, bit over priced I would say at £17.95 but I did enjoy it. Staff friendly, nice pub overall

Half the menu unavailable. A notice on the door that no 'walk-ins' were being taken for food. We were handed one menu with half the items scratched out and notes that not all components were available for all dishes - e.g no bread with some! (Why isn't the local management empowered to source ingredients locally in emergency? There's an Adsa within walking distance and I think they may sell bread...........) The aubergine parmigiana main course was good, as was the macaroni cheese. The pizzas have really dropped in quality - ironically it seemed like they may have bought these from a supermarket as they resembled cheap frozen pizzas with cheddar cheese instead of mozzarella. (Vintage Inns pizzas used to be pretty good) The honey pot desert was the highlight of the meal. Overall disappointing - I will give it a miss for a while and hope that they sack the current management soon......

Great food to choose from, good produce, and friendly happy staff! Great place to sit and have a drink. Dogs are also welcome.

Went here to celebrate my daughter in laws birthday (6of us). On arrival we were shown to our table. Then told four items on the menu were not available. We placed our order another item was not available. Three out of the six of us could not have we wanted. We then waited 45 mins for our food. The food was lovely. Don’t think we will return which is a shame as we always go here to celebrate birthdays etc. I would like however like to say that the lady who served us was amazing

We’ve been to the Dragonfly a number of times. Unfortunately the standards seem to have slipped recently. Coincidently, the price of food has increased dramatically here and the quality isn’t reflected in the price. My partner and I both had a lasagne which was priced at £16 a portion. A small lasagne was served with circa 7 chips. The staff give you the option for either salad or chips but at £16, you should probably receive both. Recommendations would include: - Significantly reducing the price of the food in line with its quality. Realistically, we were served a small lasagne with 7 chips and a small slice of garlic bread. My partner and I both valued the meal at £8 a portion (half of the £16 charged). For the quality on offer, and in this environment £16 should cover a starter and a main. - Drastically increasing the standards of service and quality of food in line with the price of the meal. This is essentially a cafe environment, that should be factored in to the pricing structure of the food. This is our local pub, a few years ago the standards of service and food were excellent. Now it seems to be under a management strategy of selling overpriced, low quality food to what were previously loyal customers. If you go here you won’t receive quality, you’ll receive a relatively large bill for what is less than average quality food.

Food is nice but not brilliant. Overpriced in my opinion. Visited on a Tuesday lunchtime only to be told the lunchtime menu wasn’t available as it was the Valentine’s Day menu and normal menu that whole week.

Me and my friend were welcomed wonderfully by one of the servers. This is a fantastic atmosphere, and the food was amazing. Highly recommend the rib Eye steak

Kelly was an absolute star. Serving tons of people with a smile on her face all by herself. She was very attentive. The food did take 50 minutes but as far as waitresses go. Brilliant.

Steak pie was inedible. Meat not cooked properly and I doubt if my dog could have chewed it.No excuse for such poor food.in a cheap cafe let alone an allegedly quality restaurant

This may seem harsh but 1 . we rang at 2pm from Holidsy inn next door we were told no space until 5pm ? OK booked for 5 when we arrived pub 25% full at best 2 tables eating 2 waitress sat us down on a table for two no room at all, she said I will give you a couple of minutes and come back. we moved table ourself 3 waitress left with her coat on ?? We sat there 25 minutes seeing a couple off tables fill up and get their drinks I had to go and ask for service 3 we were given menus and ordered drinks and then waited another 10 minutes for the waiter to come back with drinks and take our food order 4 we order pie of the day, we asked what it was beef in red wine my wife asked for the triple cooked chips has she does not like garlic mash potatoes. 5 food arrived in Twenty minutes at that stage we had been there 1 hour 5 at least it looked good, the guy left us with an “Enjoy” my wife said immediately the chips are cold when I queried she said like warm Both pies were very very hot, my potatoe mash like Linda’s chips cool tasty but cool. The broccoli was over steamed and when use the fork it fell to bits. The crust on the pie was very tasty and the liqueur was good 6 the beef was very tasty BUT 50% of Linda’s and almost 40% of mine was full of gristle and unbeatable!!! 7 we told the waiter when he returned and before we said it he said it’s gristly!! Obviously not news to him 8 We said we would see dessert menu When we ordered 2 sticky toffee puddings he apologised and said they had run out!!! We gave up and asked for the bill Summary poor service, poor food quality and no real apology I think the staff are hardened to complaints I thought that food pricing was zoK for a meal I could eat but at £9 for a beer and a bottle of coke hefty on the drink prices We used to live near the pub 10 years ago and it was iwned and ran by another company and was much better. On arrival, we waited around 30 minutes to be given menus! Ordered some drinks at the bar. A pint of Madri and a pint of Pepsi came to just shy of £10.00, which was a bit steep. Menus eventually arrived and I opted for the...

Very expensive for just ok food. Service was slow and the restaurant was half full. We waited for our plates to be taken, by which time none of us felt like a dessert or another drink. I had gammon which was ok, not much flavour....

We visited on Sunday, having booked a table for six and obviously were looking forward to the roast dinners as we have visited before and never had any issues. I was quite surprised to arrive and be told that there were only two roast in his left at 4 o’clock, and was also not satisfied that nobody had thought to calling in advance and notifies us before we drove from Cardiff The meal was booked as a special occasion for my parents who were down from Kent with our family, and we were then told that even on the roast dinners, there were no Yorkshire puddings available . There were other items on the menu that were not available, and there were numerous people arriving after our booking, with the same expectation, only to be let down . I don’t understand how a restaurant that prides itself on a Sunday menu can have those Sunday roast dinners left and still allow the bookings to continue. The service was slow, and when the food was served, the chips were burnt, and it was definitely not value for money as I have found it to be before I have to say I was very disappointed to the extent I would not consider coming back Unless this could be rectified

I feel the standards of this lovely restaurant have dropped significantly! I have been several times in the last few years and its normally quite nice. A little pricey for the food given, howeve We decided to have a family lunch here on Saturday 3rd Feb. Unfortunately it was a very poor experience. I have given a 2 star for the food because the soup was very nice. However that's where it stops. The signature Burger bun was hard like it had been left under a lamp for an age, the actual burger was red inside!! Not cooked. I wish I could post the pictures i took. I know beef can be red inside and I love my steak medium rare, but... minced steak in a burger should be cooked to 160 degrees inside and this burger had food poisoning written all over it! The fries that came with it were hard and cold!!! We also had a garlic prawn and chorizo starter, it was foul! Massive chunks of fried chorizo and 4 tiny over cooked rubbery prawns! The salad was dripping and wilted in the chorizo oil. The only reason I give a 3 star on the staff is because the lady that served us was very polite, understanding and took the two appalling items off the bill. This don't really justify things for me as I will not return and would not recommend to friends and family. My reasons for that is because I was pre warned about this establishment by my own mum and sister but chose to make my own mind up. So I did, unfortunately 😕. I have only just read the reviews for the last past month and they speak volumes. So sad as times are tough and I like to support local businesses. Please up your game.

It was a busy evening and staff took our order after a small delay. However items no longer available were chosen and only after some time we were informed.

It was a busy Saturday.. Service was slow.. took 20 mins to order drinks and didn’t receive starters which were on the while you wait section for an hour after being seated.. the fish and chips - fish was cooked beautifully with lovely crisp batter.. the chips however appeared soggy and cold (the fish had heat for both very hot). My partner ate the chips and I left half of the fish. My partner and mother had the lasagne which both said no complaints.. came hot and with a nice ciabatta. Wasn’t a badddd experience per se, just an awfully slow lunch with no pizzazz and awful chips. Would rather have had the skinny fries.

I’ve been here twice and the standard has been the same both times. Good food (they said they were limited in stock but seemed to still have a lot), attentive, quick service and the price is really good too.

Staying at the hotel next door, we thought the Vintage Inn was a safe bet for our 3 day stay… we ate there this once and spent our money elsewhere as it was really very poor. One star feels harsh, so have given two but...

Warm welcome on arrival. Varied menu, When food arrived....after a long wait....one of the meals was missing, they had not ordered it which was a little disappointing. Cannot fault the food, really tasty and well presented. Would definitely return.

Nice place, but the service was given could do with some help in people skills these three men all need to work together not against each other in all aspects on running a restaurant. Also, sort out the desserts their called the flower pot/ honey bees are lacking in something, and the presentation needs adjustments. The beef burger was excellent five stars.

Table was pre booked , shown straight to table . Drinks were brought to table , great food hit and good quality , even had dessert as it was so nice.

Won't return 6 people had same starters.....4 had bad stomach when they got home I ordered fish chips mushy peas tartar sauce. Fish ok chips luke warm normal peas which were hard. No tartar sauce had to ask the server who didn't know what it was but did eventually come back with some. Asked for dessert menu still waiting 15 min later so paid bill instead. Was told I could use my blue light card but when I went to pay it was for NHS only. Toilets upstairs. 3xladies Toilets. One had locked door. One no seat. no toilet paper so a lady actually asked a gentleman to get some from their toilet. Asked at till was we supposed to order food etc at bar because no-one had come back to serve us and was told yes they are short staffed. Waited ages between starters and main meal and as I said didn't bother waiting for desserts. There were 3 chefs on. It was quiet when we got there at 6 15pm but busier later. Not worth £195

Both myself and friend were incredibly disappointed with the dining experience. Firstly, the burger meals were basic, no side salad.or coleslaw etc. The fries were hard and over cooked completely inedible. Although the main dining area was nice the toilet cubicles were dirty and dusty....

Very disappointed THIS TIME, The food was just warm we had to ask to order for main and desert, no offer of drinks and had to go to the bar due to lack of staff, also after asking for the bill and waiting for over half an hour we were told to pay at the bar as the machine was broken. It's a shame as this was a return visit as the last visits have been very good.

Expensive, tasteless. Ordered lamb, got tiny tasteless medallions. Veg hard. Plate filled out with 2 yorkshire puddings. Gravy like water - £20. First time my party had to order food again elsewhere. Worst I've had in ages, Should be ashamed

Nothing was great and there is much that needs improving. The service was extremely slow. We waited over fifteen minutes to be asked what drinks we wanted, so we ordered our food at the same time. The food took a further thirty minutes to arrive and in all honesty, if we hadn’t waited so long and didn’t have a hungry four year old with us I would have sent it all back. We did ask our server TWICE for crayons for our four year old and she forgot!! Another server kindly got them in the end. The child’s pizza was mostly hard and could not be cut as was the garlic bread he had as a side order. He couldn’t eat about half of it. My lasagne was okay but my laughably named side salad consisted of ONE thin slice of cucumber, one thin slice of a small tomato and the rest was about half a dozen leaves of lettuce - pathetic!! My husband’s fish and chips were very overcooked. The chunky chips were dark brown (overcooked) the fish batter had lumps of salt dried on it, the batter was also slimy in parts and overcooked in others and to top it all, the fish itself was grey!! I believe all the meals were firstly cooked and then left under a heat lamp for a very long time. However, we did complain to yet another server who kindly took the price of the child’s pizza off. We have been here a few times in the past and we’ve noticed the food and service has declined significantly. We certainly will not be rushing back.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Food was beautiful would recommend just a shame we don’t live closer. Steak was cooked how we asked.

Excellent food and service. Kim who waited on our table was friendly and attentive. The steak was sublime and would recommend. The 50% off mains was a bonus.

Never been before. The service was great and the food was too but it was quite chilly in there. Went there specifically because we knew there were working fireplaces and it's cold out but we had to ask to have them lit (there was one by the bar and at least one in the restaurant) but they weren't maintained and it was quite clear that a fair few people were cold and still had their coats on. The radiators were hardly on and it's very freezing outside! So when the fires weren't lit it was quite chilly.

Disappointment is not a strong enough word. I wish I took photos to show how bad my experience really was with the food. I’m not writing a long review as I personally never read those ones. My food was so bad I sent it back and didn’t order another, this was due to my partners food arriving with un cooked chips that then put me off ordering more. Another table near us complained also and the bar staff apologised. My partner had eaten here before and said the food was lovely however we were told that the kitchen staff has been changing a lot. I will never return and waste my money
