Stopped off at this oasis on our way to Tenby. My wife and I both ordered bacon sandwiches and coffee lattes. Beautiful āhome baked ā bread (probably from a bakery but looked and tasted home baked) a generous helping of thick cut bacon and a delightful cup of coffee. Staff were busy but friendly and attentive.

Lovely courtyard seating, customer service was great and the sandwiches, coffee and cakes are delicious. Easy parking too.

I wanted to feel like we had found a place to go and continue to go but unfortunately we didnāt really feel welcome. At first we were greeted by a lady behind the bar who was lovely and welcoming and I have no complaints about her. However, when it came to ordering our food the waitress approached and asked if we were ready to order, at that point we hadnāt even looked at the menu. We asked if we could have 5 more minutes to look at the menu, we were trying to settle and occupy a 2 year old and a 10 year old before deciding what we wanted. The waitress looked disgruntled and said yes okay but we need the table by 19:15, we had booked the table for 5 and arrived 10 minutes before. My partner said to the waitress that we would definitely be gone by then because we have a 2 year old to settle. This did annoy me and if it wasnāt for the fact that my children were there and were hungry I would have left. I think she realised how rude it was because she did apologise and say sorry for rushing us. I appreciated the apology but I hope there is a lesson learned here. I know itās just a job to them but I do think there should be a level of consideration and understanding of other peopleās circumstances. We have recently moved to the area and our young children are also settling into their new surroundings, I just hope that another family doesnāt have to feel the way we initially felt. Iām sure the waitress reflecting on the situation wouldnāt have wanted us to feel this way and the free ice cream did help slightly however, we wonāt be returning. I know from the level of detail Iāve provided that they will know the exact customer that has posted this review and I hope they think next time before rushing a customer with young children.

Great quality and quantity food and price is amazing. Real ale. Superb service. Also steaks on Fridays if only all restaurants were like this.

Bit disappointing as when we looked at the menu there was lots of breakfast options of wraps, bagels and pancake stacks. When we arrived we were given a very basic menu of just a fry up and a couple over bits. The fry up was hotel breakfast style and very basic. Beans weren't nice. The prices were different to what we had seen online too on their website.

A direct message has already been sent to this place about my experience and no response has been received as yet (nearly 2 weeks later). First of all this place used to be greatā¦great coffee, friendly staff, great food. With this in mind, my friend and I thought Cafe Rio would be a cosy place for our heart to heart chat, Now on entry it smells and feels grubby. My initial Americano was bitter and filmy on top, just awful so I sent it back, this was replaced with a much smoother cup. My friend and I ordered the breakfast Cinnamon toast with bacon and maple syrup for Ā£6.95. It arrived: and how disappointing -two pieces of bread, two tiny pieces of streaky bacon and a bowl of syrup. The bacon was over cooked and black in places and the bread was completely soggy and soaked in grease and syrup. We both felt sick after attempting to eat half of it, so we left it and carried on with our chat. On leaving we both decided we would privately message the place about the standard of food and see what the response would be, rather than just leaving a bad review on here. As yet neither of us has even received an acknowledgement of our complaint let alone a personal response. Itās a shame as I felt this was a place you could rely on.

I come to Pontarddulais once a year while hubby visits a client and was excited to learn of the new espresso bar here. However, I was shocked at the prices!!! Ā£4 for a latte and Ā£3.90 for a flat white/cappuccino. Yikes! We were recently in Melbourne and Sydney and the most I paid for a latte there was Ā£3, overlooking Sydney harbour. Mostly Ā£2 generally and never had a bad one. Sadly, Coaltownās flat white was way too strong and I didnāt enjoy š. Iāll bring my own next time. Shame, as I like the smell and ambience of a coffee shop.

Nice looking place BUT will not be recommending to friends/family. The absolute fuss of the staff and the silly rules with the bell and rope across the door to enter and exit the tea room are ridiculous. My brother had a toastie which was such a disappointment. £4.10 for paper thin bread with not much filling and no garnish on the plate. It literally looked like plain toast when they put the plate down on the table, not appealing to the eye at all. Then we got up to pay and the staff can see you through the kitchen door window but again you have to ring a bell for them to come out even though you can see them just standing one meter away just looking at you.

Came here with a group of friends to celebrate Xmas together in november last year. I phoned ahead and the landlord was more than happy to accommodate us and stay open later for us. What can I say. We were made to feel so welcome and this pub will always hold a special place in my heart and I am sure my friends would agree. Thank you so much for your hospitality
