We visited this pub about 2 years ago and a lovely meal, so on our return visit to Tenby we were keen to go back. We phoned and booked a table for 4 and arranged a taxi home. On arrival we were advised that they were short staffed so might be a delay, which we were fine with. We duly ordered our food, however 5 minutes later, told that the dishes 3 of us had chosen were not available. However on going for another choice, advised that wasn’t available either. The menu option thus became very limited, but as we had travelled out of Tenby we had no alternative but to stay. The meal was very bland and very disappointing. We understood that staff can cancel without much notice, but not being able to offer the advertised menu, especially as we had booked and could have been given this information then, is not good service. We won’t be returning and would not recommend.

I don’t know why this has good reviews. The gent that welcomed us was lovely . But it went down hill from then on. Our order was cocked up (she forgot some of it ) . We had a sirloin steak and a rib eye both were tough . When I asked how the meal was I said the steaks were tough and she just said sorry about that . I left most of my dinner and I never leave food . My 85 year old mother said it was one of the worst meals she ever had . Ironically 2 other couples that were in there that night we saw subsequently and they said there’s was not good (one had curry ) . I did see another review that mentioned the curry looking like mince . No parking only on narrow road and no WiFi .

Great food, staff were very accommodating as we hadn't booked in advance. Pleasant and friendly. We had the rib-eye which was cooked perfectly and 2 kids meals, both looked very nice too. Parking can be an issue but we just parked up the road a little. Would definitely recommend 👌

Lovely, friendly Pub which we’ve visited many times but only for drinks but we decided to try the Sunday lunch, both had beef & it was fab, plenty of food & very reasonably priced, so good we went back a few days later & this time we both had steak, again, it was excellent & neither of us could finish the generous portions, we finished the evening outside with a btl of wine. Love this place, all the staff are friendly, will definitely b coming back when we return in December.

We chose this local pub for a family evening dinner, as we heard good things from someone in our caravan site and the reviews were very positive. Despite this, the food was very disappointing. I had the special (double cheese burger) which tasted stale rather than freshly cooked, and the chips were undercooked. Our shared side order was cheesy garlic bread which wasn’t bad. My wife ordered the lasagne which tasted even more bland than a microwave meal. However, her cooked potatoes were decent. My son had the chicken nuggets and chips, again undercooked chips and the chicken nuggets weren’t great. His ice cream was also below par. In sum, all 3 of us left most of our food (even the ice cream wasn’t eaten). The service was positive and the pub is very nice, situated around lovely views. Unfortunately though, we’ll not be returning due to the poor quality food.

Proper real Pub, nice "buzz", good beer, decent menu and interesting specials, can be busy and items on the menu run out if you go later in the day, good sign as it means things are not over stocked and getting stale , waitress lovely but a bit forgetful, worth a gentle reminder that you did ask for "X", but her personality made the minor effort worth the effort!! A really good evening.

We (family of 5)turned up at 6 on a Monday evening. We hadn't booked a table as I wasn't aware we should have done so, but the staff were superb and fitted us in. The man behind the bar couldn't have been friendlier, humorous but attentive too. The food was clearly freshly cooked due to the time between placing our order and it arriving at the table. All 5 meals served together and perfectly cooked. I asked for the steak without tomatoes or mushrooms so received a mountain of fresh, hot, crispy onion rings. If we return to Penally on holiday, we'll be eating there again. Great choice of drinks and the Gower Gold was a beautiful pint.

We visited as a family of 5 including 3 young children, staying at a holiday rental a few doors away. As a family of vegetarians we were very impressed with the choices and options on the menu and even more so with the food, all very hearty, tasty and generous portion sizes. The food is clearly home made, staff were very accommodating with our children’s meals and generally just very friendly. Would recommend!

Received a lovely warm welcome. Ordered fish pie and was asked if we wanted potatoes or chips. When we looked surprised the lady serving us explained that the fish pie was only small and the cook liked to fill the plate. What we had was ok but the pie had small chunks of fish in it. Would have preferred a bigger pie with flakes of fish and less frozen chips. Must say the steak pie on the next table looked delicious. Maybe next time.

Lovely pub set in the beautiful village of penally. A little on the small side, so tends to get quite full over the summer periods which makes it difficult at times to book a table for dining. What an amazing little find. Booked for my mums 89th Birthday as we were staying down the road in Lydstep Haven. On entry in the bar a lovely warm welcome. And then the waitress tended to our needs amazingly. My mum is elderly and I use cancer as I have incurable cancer plus other things. This lady was absolutely wonderful. When our meals came, well how can I say it, they were humongous, could easily have fed 4 people. About the food now, I'm very finicky and like my steak well done, I would rather it be like charcoal than to see any pink. What cab I say, it's not many places that can cook a well done steal to perfection, but this was just falling apart and melted in my mouth, the same for mum but she likes it medium rare. I asked the waitress if she would pass my compliments to the chef and told her what I've written above. She was over the moon, as that night (16th September 2023), the waitress daughter was the chef. I wish I could of given her more than compliments because like I said, the steak was to die for. Would definitely recommend this place and as we only live 60 miles away, will definitely pop in for food another day. Thank you for giving my mum a wonderful birthday, neither of us will ever forget it. Unfortunately my memory is poor for names, and for the life of me I can't remember the waitresses name, but I'm sure she will know who we are, as she said my mum and I reminded her of her mum and herself, who she sadly lost.

This establishment was recommended to us with advice to book. We are glad we did as it was very busy & became aware of casual customers being turned away. Staff were friendly & interacted with customers. My wife had a steak & self the steak & ale pie & both meals came piping hot. The steak was cooked as requested & tender. The pie crust was very light & the meat chunky & tender. There were a mountain of chips on each of our plates together with peas & onion rings. We could not fault the meals & unfortunately we did not have room for a sweet but those we saw in the cabinet looked very tempting! Yes, would have no hesitation in returning if staying in the area again.

We came here following a recommendation from the in-laws, who stopped near here for a week and came back twice (and now I can see why). Honestly, the menu really is one of those proper ‘salt of the earth’ lineups, whereby they’ve done away with any corporate nonsense and just kept in line with the beautiful Welsh countryside aesthetic. While a good sized front with benches and beautiful views to the sea, the inside is small but makes for a better and cosier atmosphere (especially on a rainy night like tonight!) The staff were fantastic from start to finish - helpful, friendly and always available if you needed. Our mains were beautifully cooked and the portions were huge, so it was absolutely excellent value for money. They also had cakes in glass cases which always adds a nice cosy touch when browsing desserts. One thing I’d add - I’d advise booking in advance, it does get busy and booked up quickly (always a great sign). Parking can be tricky, however, if you can’t find a space on the area on the same road as the pub which is free, there is street parking (although park on wide sections as it can get narrow!) Overall, the chilli con carne was £11.00, the 8oz sirloin was £20.00, so it was superb value for money and somewhere I’d highly recommend to anyone in the region. Thanks guys, superb evening!

We’ve been here a couple of times before, and always really enjoyed it, so we felt a tiny bit disappointed with our experience this time. Our order arrived slightly wrong, although the staff seemed quite busy, and it wasn’t particularly a problem, so we didn’t make a fuss, because in the end it didn’t really make much difference to us – we did enjoy the food that we got. Having said that though, a number of the customers around us also seemed to be receiving not quite what they ordered… ! A couple of the staff seemed really stressed, and one in particular seemed very distracted – there were a number of times that she arrived in the small room at the back where there are tables saying “ Did anybody order X?” and when nobody replied, she would take the item away again. We also waited quite a long time for the food to arrive. All in all, it was just a bit unfortunate – I don’t know whether they were having problems of some description, but it just wasn’t as nice as it has been when we’ve been before.

We visited The Bishops whilst travelling through St. David’s. The pub is very well situated within the town if you are visiting the Cathedral or even passing through. If you’re lucky enough, like us, there are a number of free spaces on the hill, to the side of the Cathedral. There was three of us visiting, we ordered some food from the light bites / sandwiches selection - Ham & Cheese, Coronation Chicken, Tuna Mayo, two soft drinks and a pint of Madri. Now the total bill did come in at £38.50 which in my opinion isn’t cheap, but each sandwich was fresh, tasty and served with a tasty side salad and crisps. The sandwiches really were tasty and very filling, we would definitely recommend if you’re visiting the area and fancy a quick bite to eat with a decent pint!
