We stopped here for drinks on Wednesday 24th April whilst visiting Carew Castle and Tidal Mill. We sat inside as it was a litte cold outside. As we weren’t hungry, we only had cappuchinos which were nice but very overpriced at £3.50 for a medium sized paper cup but it is what it is. There were lots of people there ordering meals which looked very appetising and the staff were very friendly.

Booked the afternoon tea and guided tour of Carew Castle. The afternoon tea was delicious - a good selection of sandwiches/savouries and lovely cakes/desserts. Great service by friendly staff. Highly recommended - would certainly book again.

I feel like my family and I visited a different place compared to all the reviews……..if I was to pick one word to describe my experience it would be disappointed. We ordered various items from the menu and whilst one of the sandwiches was nice the other one was awful dry and tasteless. The cakes were good as was the tea and coffee but the 20 minute wait after our food arrived was ridiculous……I went to the counter twice to be told the drinks had been missed then the second time forgotten poor poor service, I would definitely not return. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Great experience here. We visited the tea room 3 times on our outing to Carew Castle and Tidal Mill. Coffee and cake when we arrived (they were very patient and brought our order to the table). Sandwiches (kids baguettes particularly good) and a Welsh rarebit tomato tart for lunch (delicious) and then take away coffees at home time. Staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming. The food was super yummy and although there was a mix up over lunch (they lost our order) they were extremely good at rectifying the situation and genuinly apologetic. They even added a biscuit to each of our kidd Squires Boxes and a slice of cake each for my husband and I. I was very impressed and the food was worth the wait. Lovely outdoor seating and some indoor seating too. Plus dog friendly (our doggy loved the doggy ice-cream)

We had a couple of sandwiches and drinks before we left. There were many school children running around for entertainment. We ate outside but there was space inside to eat. A good place for a light lunch.

This is a delightful addition to the very beautiful and atmospheric Carew Castle. Simply furnished and decorated inside, lots of lovely covered seating outside - ideal for all types of Welsh weather! Coffee - both decaf and fully leaded - is excellent, but without a doubt the highlight of the visit for me was the baked on the premises lemon curd muffin! Oh my!! Plenty of lemon curd and light and fluffy, yet also definitely a muffin not a cupcake! A work of absolute genius! I am planning to make a return visit ... The rocky road is also highly recommended, though I didn't get to even try a crumb of that as my husband felt he needed to eat it all himself ... The only thing that might be seen as a downside is that everything is served in takeaway and disposable tableware - it wasn't a problem for us - but I think its just worth mentioning.

This is a reasonably priced coffee shop offering excellent coffee and very good cakes and snacks. We enjoyed the bara brith and there are comfortable seating areas outside.

The grounds of Nest Tearooms are nicely landscaped and provide both shady spots and sunny corners. There was a nice selection of food and drinks all within close proximity to the castle. The staff were polite and efficient. It was a good stop off between exploring the castle and the watermill.

What a fab little find. Small menu, but our baguettes were so delicious, fresh, tasty & full of fillings .We ordered the children’s luxury hot chocolate and it was just that, made with care & beautifully decorated with a mass of cream. Yummy….shame that I ordered coffee for myself!

This cafe looks quite new and atractively built. It is within the confines of Carew Castle and you would never know that it was there until you came upon it. No signage outside. You don't need to buy tickets for the castle to go into the cafe or use the modern conveniences. It was a useful shelter from the rain. Very quiet at coffee time towards the end of September. We both had lattees - v nice and sensibly priced . Attractive looking cakes available together with ploughman type snacks with different healthy fillings using local produce.A separate menu for children. There is an outside seating area and mini adventure play area. Staff friendly and service good. I suppose it relies on trade during the school holidays. Would make sense to advertise it and Carew Castle with signs outside at the entrance.

Nice little tea room set at the entrance to the castle, was a bit disappointed by the choice of cakes on offer when we visited, found the staff a little standoff and not very welcoming, we arrived at the start of the day. Otherwise a great spot for the kids with a very good mini adventure play area with a massive deck chair. Dogs were welcomed but not inside.

Whilst visiting Carew Castle, the Nest was a great stop for lunch. Really simple menu, but done really well with local product. Also good value for money given the captive audience! Kids choices were different and healthy which made a nice change.

We visited Carew Castle recently and needed lunch. This very bright and friendly cafe was perfect. There were tables inside and out, and quite a varied choice on the menu. We had tuna mayonnaise sourdough sandwiches with a generous side salad and homemade coleslaw. Everything was served up efficiently. The bread was slightly warm and the accompaniments were really tasty.

We visited Carew Castle (loved it) and popped into the cafe for a bite to eat. As we had a dog with us we couldn’t eat inside (they do have a lovely outside seating area) but due to circumstances we had to request that our food was boxed up.

We visited the tea room en route to Carew Castle. The menu choice was limited but there were plenty of snack choices - we had a panini and a "Smuggler's Platter" (or prawn cocktail as the server then called to the kitchen!). Food arrived promptly and the service was polite and friendly.

We were accidentally there on the opening day of the tearoom and it was about 4.15pm. We were impressed with the service, with the lovely meal, and although they were closing at 5pm they gave no impression that they wanted us to leave.

Called today for large cod and chips x two takeaway. Cost £23.80. The chips looked like oven chips and were tasteless and dry. The large fish was in fact two small fillets joined together side by side and battered. On first glance it looked like a large fish but the flesh was only quarter of an inch deep so there were no lovely flakes of cod which you expect when you pay for a large portion, what little cod flesh there was was dry and crumbly.

WOW....What a wonderful place. Fantastic meals! We were staying nearby with family and meeting up with local family, so got to go here three times. Sunday lunch was brilliant, my husband and I are both vegetarians, so the mushroom wellington with roast veggies was really great value. We also had the mushroom wrap which I enjoyed so much one lunch time that I had it again a few evenings later. ALL the staff were lovely and helpful, even gave us a takeaway veg for the Sunday vegetables that were left, so had bubble and squeak the next night at the rental cottage! The only thing I would say is they either need larger plates or smaller portions!! LOL
