On a break in our camper and vaguely heading out of the national park to find somewhere to wild camp. Decided to rake long way to Cardigan and turned left to Nevern. Spotted a huge pub and car park and decided to stop and ask if we could stop over in exchange for dining with them. The guy happily told me that it was fine. Parked up and we have just enjoyed one of the best pub meals we've ever had. The portion wasn't the largest but the quality was outstanding. Great staff, great food. Finally, my wife who has recently discovered a number of food intolerances, has assured me the Trewern Arms Hotel has the most comprehensive list of allergens she's ever seen on a menu with really lovelly vegan choices. 6 stars if I could

I was made so welcome and showed such kindness today by Billy and Jude. As a single lone woman I went for a meal with my dog. My new card wouldn't work and Billy and Jude sorted it by Billy paying on his card and I transferred the money. Billy was super kind and restored my faith in the kindness of strangers. The food was delicious and my puppy and I are very grateful. Thank you. Michelle and Hugo.

Brilliant place . We walked here along the Nevern footpath in the pouring rain and stumbled across this wonderful oasis . We stopped for a pint and chips ,the staff were brilliant . We then realised that we were able to come back here with our van and stay on site as long as we used the pub . No problem with that at all. We returned later that evening to be greeted by the brilliant staff team . Who remembered us from earlier. We booked a table and were served some fantastic food alongside some good wine and great cider as well . After dinner we had a couple of games of pool and darts and merrily made our way back to our vans . In all . GREAT STAFF ,GREAT FOOD BRILLIANT OWNER. THANK YOU IVAN AND SARA

Went on a late booking of nine people. We had to suit a variety of dietary requirements and children in the group. Staff were knowledgeable and looked after the gluten and other allergies in the group. The arancini from the special was really good and the lamb chop special with a warm summer salad was really delicious, and a huge portion for the £22 and one of the tastiest, balanced and most interesting dishes I've had in a long time! Only downside is they seem to have stopped taking orders at the table, though we didn't mind going to the bar it would've less complicated and made for a better experience all round, but it won't stop us visiting again.

This hotel / public house is set in the stunning village of Nevern in Pembrokeshire. The room we stayed.is was very comfortable and we slept.through. It was nice to stay somewhere with thick curtains that blocked out the morning sun. The mattress was very comfortable and I suffer with a chronic pain condition. We were warmly welcomed by two staff who were very welcoming. We stayed for an evening meal and as a coeliac was blown away by the choice provided. I particularly enjoyed.the lamb. In the morning we were greeted by a fabulous member of staff who made us feel welcome. The breakfast was amazing and I particularly enjoyed the lavabread potatoes. And our dog loved her.sausage too. While on holiday we drove past and thought it looked a nice place to eat so rang and booked a table for two that evening. Despite arriving 5 minutes early we were told that our table had been given to someone who had "sneaked in" and there were no other available tables. They tried to sit us firstly on sofas with a coffee table (to eat dinner!) and then on another table that was still too low. One member of staff suggested that we eat in the restaurant but it was empty and we didn't want to do that. It was then pointed out that we couldn't anyway because we had our dog with us. We were moved to a communal table and assured that it was unlikely anyone would join us while we were eating - not ideal but grudgingly we accepted. However, we were then told that another table had become available and we would be shown to it once it was cleared. We waited for a while until another member of staff came and told us just to order at the bar so we explained that we were waiting to be moved. She grumbled about lack of communication and at last we were seated at a reasonable table. The couple next to us (whom we had met before) warned us that "the food is OK but the service is terrible" - so it wasn't just us. The Leek and Ale Welsh rarebit that I ordered was nice enough but in my opinion overpriced at £15. My husband ordered off the special board - cajun salmon. Two bites in he discovered a long hair in his food. We immediately complained and the chef came out and asked if we wanted a replacement meal which we did. The staff were apologetic but we had just £4 taken off a £44 bill because my husband had to eat his meal on his own - not because there was a hair in his first one! And it was only as we drove away that it occurred to us that I had had to eat my meal on my own as well! This is the first time in many a year that I have not left a tip. I rarely leave a bad review for anywhere but this really was not acceptable and we could not wait to leave.

Lovely pub, staff and food was first class. We visited on a Sunday evening unfortunately spoilt by a family with children running around the bar areas making unreasonable noise and parents ignoring them totally unacceptable I have children and grandchildren but they have been bought up to behave in public. This is our second stay at the Trewern Arms. We are a group of friends, one of whom started a Ukelele group 10 years ago. Approximately 20 stayed here, whilst others stayed nearby(not enough rooms)! I know I speak on their behalf when I say to anyone, “STAY HERE”, you will not be disappointed, the food is cooked and presented impeccably. It was delicious both at breakfast and at dinner. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. We were joined by Jeremy a local and other local musicians, and spent two great evening’s together. I really don’t like leaving a negative review, and I’m sorry for this, but the young guy behind the bar obviously didn’t want to be there, no smile, acknowledgment , welcome , hello , please ,thank you goodbye! Very rude!! I’m all fairness none of the staff were great, all pretending to look busy rather than serve , apart from the lady with blonde dreadlocks who was lovely. I’m not saying the food was bad , neither was it great, but personal choice,it just wasn’t for me it’s not what I’d call a traditional Sunday lunch the veg were too hard and the beef quite tough. I’d also say the bar/seating area could do with a good deep clean and a fresh lick of paint. So sad it has all that character, just missing the warmth.

Pub was awful. Dreadful old fashioned decor (though they are apparently refurbishing). Unfriendly barman. We had booked a table to eat and he pointed is to a dingy small table in a tiny nook. He told us that they were really busy tonight. We were early so said we'd get a drink and go into the garden before dinner. Gin had no ice. Beer was good. We contemplated leaving but were hungry. In going back in, we avoided the surly barman and went to the restaurant part. We asked if we could be seated there. We were helped by a charming young waiter who bent over backwards to help us. Restaurant was a lot more attractive than the pub area. Food was surprisingly good, exceeding our (llow) expectations. And it wasn't busy, don't know why the barman said it was. Not planning on going back.

A gem of a place to stay. It was relaxed and friendly (thanks to all the delightful staff who apparently are all called Billy!). The food was delicious and the walks around the area were great. Dogs are very welcome .Also there is a really special Dawn Sequoia tree in the pub garden which possibly was one of the first saplings after they were discovered in a remote valley in China in the 1950s. I have only seen ones as big in Kew Gardens. There's Ogham stones in the church and even a bleeding yew. Pilgrims footprints in the rocks from the middle ages and an ancient Celtic Cross. I am already looking forward to going back for a Guiness and Portobello mushroom burger!

Well, why there isn’t a Banjo hanging up I don’t know. Duelling Banjos spring to mind. Ordered sandwiches and chips and paid, 5 mins later told there’s no bread at 1.00 mid day( thought they would know this when they opened today) Asked for a...

We visited this pub about 2 years ago and a lovely meal, so on our return visit to Tenby we were keen to go back. We phoned and booked a table for 4 and arranged a taxi home. On arrival we were advised that they were short staffed so might be a delay, which we were fine with. We duly ordered our food, however 5 minutes later, told that the dishes 3 of us had chosen were not available. However on going for another choice, advised that wasn’t available either. The menu option thus became very limited, but as we had travelled out of Tenby we had no alternative but to stay. The meal was very bland and very disappointing. We understood that staff can cancel without much notice, but not being able to offer the advertised menu, especially as we had booked and could have been given this information then, is not good service. We won’t be returning and would not recommend.

We’ve been here a couple of times before, and always really enjoyed it, so we felt a tiny bit disappointed with our experience this time. Our order arrived slightly wrong, although the staff seemed quite busy, and it wasn’t particularly a problem, so we didn’t make a fuss, because in the end it didn’t really make much difference to us – we did enjoy the food that we got. Having said that though, a number of the customers around us also seemed to be receiving not quite what they ordered… ! A couple of the staff seemed really stressed, and one in particular seemed very distracted – there were a number of times that she arrived in the small room at the back where there are tables saying “ Did anybody order X?” and when nobody replied, she would take the item away again. We also waited quite a long time for the food to arrive. All in all, it was just a bit unfortunate – I don’t know whether they were having problems of some description, but it just wasn’t as nice as it has been when we’ve been before.

We visited The Bishops whilst travelling through St. David’s. The pub is very well situated within the town if you are visiting the Cathedral or even passing through. If you’re lucky enough, like us, there are a number of free spaces on the hill, to the side of the Cathedral. There was three of us visiting, we ordered some food from the light bites / sandwiches selection - Ham & Cheese, Coronation Chicken, Tuna Mayo, two soft drinks and a pint of Madri. Now the total bill did come in at £38.50 which in my opinion isn’t cheap, but each sandwich was fresh, tasty and served with a tasty side salad and crisps. The sandwiches really were tasty and very filling, we would definitely recommend if you’re visiting the area and fancy a quick bite to eat with a decent pint!
