We went there to get something to drink and have some light food, as we were in a hurry to complete our journey before the nightfall. We've ordered soup and waited half an hour for it! When I asked when is it going to be ready, I was told "soon". When I asked how long is "soon"i got a reply that it is "soon" in a very ignoring and rude way. We left the place hungry, even though we paid for the food that never came. We just couldn't wait another hour for the soup to come. Please avoid at all cost....

Popped in for breakfast after walking the dogs at Freshwater East. The staff were pleasant enough although it felt as though requesting a breakfast was an imposition. Had a latte and a cappuccino, and to be honest we couldn't tell the difference (both appeared to be cappuccino) except they came in different shape cups and the proported cappuccino was dusted with chocolate. The breakfast was okay but but sausages were dry and overcooked and the toast had an odd tasting spread rather than butter. The round of toast with honey arrived, minus honey! Okay as a cafe but doesn't represent value for money.

I visited Food at Williams for breakfast and was received with a very friendly welcome. The manager sat me at a table and offered me a menu. I ordered the Laverbread Hash with Poached Eggs, a Flat White and Orange Juice. The food portion size was ok for the price but I wish it came with additional substance, perhaps some toast or tomatoes. The flavour was good, just slightly plain. Service was efficient and very informative but the atmosphere was lifeless and slightly awkward. I wish there had been music in the background as I spent my time unintentionally listening to other people’s private conversations, then violently disturbed by the screeching of poorly over-steamed milk. The coffee was sadly terrible. I heard the milk being burnt before even receiving it. The only non-dairy milk alternative was Soy, which was surprising for such an imaginative menu. Good service and food but the experience was spoilt by no music and bad coffee - urgent barista training needed.

We decided to visit for breakfast after friends recommended. Our experience was unfortunately very disappointing and have since discovered this place is under new ownership. We were not made to feel welcome and the staff member out front of shop was rude and abrupt. Food was ok but very expensive for what was. On paying the bill I was told that AMEX is not accepted only after successfully paying with the card. The staff member thumped the worktop and put his head in his hands swearing under his breath infront of my 11 year old son as well as other numerous customers. When I asked if there was a problem he said “ yes we get charged too much for AMEX and it’s too much work for us”. He turned his back on me and continued to sigh. I felt extremely humiliated in front of everyone in the shop. I offered for him to refund the card and start again with another payment method and was told “ I don’t know how” The chef came and said it was no problem. The staff member referred to me as “ she has used AMEX” when he was asked what was wrong!!!! As I walked through the door the staff member shut it behind me and put the blinds down. I felt like I had been thrown out !!! I would avoid this place.

My friend and I have been coming here for years and yes we are local .The new owners have changed the menu to a more limited all day one which is fine if as they say its all hand made and produced in the moment. Unfortunately, the choice of cakes and their quality has become very hit and miss .For years , it has not been the best choice for tea and cakes as the cakes were always dry and slightly stale but it was a convieient eating place and the atmosphere ,friendly staff and varied menu compensated for it . On our latest visit ,there was one plate of cakes .On first bite , I discovered a dark hair in it . Not very appetising as I'm sure you will agree.! My family and I came in for food on Tuesday and were directed towards the specials board. The young waiter explained that it wasn’t their usual menu. Never the less it looked great! We had pancakes for the children, my husband had the avocado on toast with poached egg and I ordered the hummus board. (Prior to writing this review I did read another review regarding the speed of the food arriving at the table and I must say we didn’t share the same experience) The pancakes arrived first and mine and my husbands shortly after. (20/25 mins max) All the food tasted and looked FANTASTIC. The hummus board was pleasantly large enough and the pancakes were great for the kids. My only criticism would be the avocado on toast could be a larger portion. Maybe salad on the side or something of that nature but overall we thoroughly enjoyed the meal! We could see that it was fairly busy and it was just the one waiter taking orders, making drinks and serving tables but we still had good service. We asked the waiter about Pembroke town and the castle and he was very helpful! (Sorry we forgot his name) We aren’t from Pembroke but will definitely come again when we are back.

My family and I have visited this place multiple times, so we decided to have lunch here today. We have never had issues in the past, we had our first one today. Firstly, after ordering, our food took over 45 minutes to arrive, and when it did, we were all very disappointed. My daughter ordered poached egg on toast with no avocado, which is probably the simplest thing you can make. It came as a very small portion, with only one tiny slice of bread, that wasn't even toasted. I ordered the Greek salad, which was very messy, and the olives used were very salty and unsavoury. The order was also ridiculously overpriced. When we complained that we weren't happy with our meal, we found out that there were only two members of staff in the whole building, neither of whom were chefs. Come on guys. Pull yourself together.

This place is never open - I was just sat outside of here at 2.30pm on Friday 13th and it's closed, despite stating 5pm. I've been twice before and it's always shut hours before the times state. You really need to update your opening times to avoid leaving people disappointed and hungry. Really poor.

We were looking for a quick lunch and something in between the many coffee shops and pub food. As we strolled through the market we noticed the café was popular with locals and busy. We enjoyed the meal and staff were friendly. I can recommend the Welsh lamb cawl pasty, a filling meal, served with chips.

I’m so glad that the Highgate has taken off the way it has, it’s really gathered the community in Hundy for the first time since I was a kid. Tonight we went to the Halloween party and even though we missed the trick or treat trail, they still made sure that they waited out to give my two toddlers their sweets. They had some super tasty sausage and chips and a dance. The kids had an awesome time and Ozzy hasn’t stopped talking about how much fun she had. Thank you for the effort you’ve put in, to not only the pub itself but also the events that go on there. We’ll be attending them more now! Great service, friendly atmosphere, homely food, community spirit and super inviting and lovely staff! Highly recommended! (Ps. Thank you for letting my long distance family book to stay in the b&b for my wedding next June! They’re so excited!)

Lovely friendly little pub tucked into a pretty little village.
