What an absolute Gem of a place! We were staying for a week near by at Glen Finglas and had passed this place several times on our way out. It has quite a reputation for its excellent homemade cakes, coffee, and wholesome homemade food.Opening times(at this time of year) are restricted to Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon and so we only managed to visit once on the Fri before we left. It was very busy but it was a beautiful day and there was plenty of seating outside if required and several parking places also. We were warmly welcomed by the friendly owner who allocated us a table and the wait was explained to us. The wait was certainly worth it when our homemade soup with home baked ciabatta bread arrived with lovely coffee! Both were delicious. The cakes also looked yummy too but we didn't indulge! There were also healthy salads and vegan food available. While we were waiting I also made friends with the owner's delightful black and white gentle, friendly and affectionate border collie. Obviously this place is dog friendly. The cafe was spotlessly clean,( I'm very fussy ) warm welcoming and a little Quirky which we loved. The owner does a terrific job of making this small business work very well. It's a real Gem away from the busier cafe's in Callandar and we look forward to returning and sampling the cakes as well the next time we're staying in the area. we would both highly recommend a visit.

Such a cosy, welcoming haven in the hills! Unexpectedly came for lunch after breaking down on the way up north, what a pleasant surprise! Delicious, fine dining at pub prices, gorgeous terrace to enjoy pints in the sun, and the most genuinely friendly staff. Felt immediately at home, and they even sorted us out with a discounted room last minute. Lovely place, definitely worth a visit!

We were looking for somewhere to have a drink on a wet winter night and popped into The Crown. What an amazing reception we had, so friendly. Plenty of room, although very quiet it was such a lovely atmosphere. We returned twice more to eat, the food was good and tasty and again service was friendly and prompt. Toilets were clean and warm! I can't comment on the rooms as we didn't stay.

Although some of the road is single track with passing places, it was worth the drive and we were lucky to have picked a sunny clear day. Views over Loch Katrine are stunning. The cafe was clean and well kept and service was very good. We had The Stronnie pizza which was delicious. Very relaxed setting. Can't wait to go again.

Visited here with my wife for a couple of pre dinner drinks. Barmaid was really friendly and so were the local drinkers . The toilets were immaculate . I’d visit again!

Had a nice lunch sitting outside in the March sun. Mac and cheese with garlic bread, burger etc all tasty, own lager was great and service was good. Only quibble was that I was surprised to see a service charge added to the bill as I paid, wasn't informed that this was discretionary (although says in small writing on menu) and would have preferred to have left a tip of my choosing.

Second bad experience in the span of a few months. We live locally, and loved it here our first time as a couple. Went in, and the bar staff seemed irritable. We ordered our food, and were told a couple items weren’t available. I made two trips to our table to ask my other half if she wanted something different. I asked the bar staff to hold my spot. I returned and they were taking someone else’s order. When the order was in, people before us got their food. Two sets of families came, ordered, ate, and left. The waitress came to us, and said she just found our ticket, and that some food we ordered they no longer had. They offered to refund us, we accepted, still assuming we would get our meals. Then they still didn’t bring the food. Usually after a hour especially, they’d refund you anyways in any restaurant as it’s a ridiculous thing to have happen…. But it seemed like they cancelled our meals. When we asked they brought it out a half hour later, hanging out of take away boxes. We were just shocked. We wanted to relive the experience of our first date. I’d had paid again just to sit in and eat, as we really liked it there before. Quite unreal. In some ways it felt like we were discriminated against (though we weren’t, it just had the same effect on your feelings as being discriminated against. If you know you know). Anyhow, we will never return, unfortunately.

We stopped here for breakfast on our way to Falkirk. Three of us had bacon rolls and one a fried egg roll, along with coffees. The food was delicious and the coffee really good. The display of freshly prepared rolls, cakes etc. was very inviting. Had we not been travelling around, we would have definitely bought some of their sourdough bread which looked particularly good. Highly recommended.
