As its name suggests, the Pier Café is right beside the pier at Loch Katrine, bringing in a steady stream of hungry customers from the pleasure cruises that land here. But the café isn’t complacent about its captive audience. The food on offer is good quality - ranging from a full Scottish breakfast or lunch to a sandwiches and afternoon tea. There is seating outside picnic tables or on traditional table and chairs in a lakeside conservatory. We visited twice and weren’t disappointed. I had smoked salmon and eggs for breakfast on one trip - while my wife tried the full veggie breakfast, which looked absolutely delicious. There’s a selection of home-baked cakes and snacks and a few souvenirs to buy, including hand-knitted hats. A lovely place to stop, relax, eat and take in the wonderful view.

The food was good and I did enjoy it , the service was OK, the surroundings were Impressive, however the maintenance needs looked at, tired paintwork, roof of conservatory needs a good clean inside and out. But the one thing that would prevent me going back was the drive out, road was shocking. Surface most of the way was terrible( that's being nice) and the vegetation growing on the sides restricted the view ahead on an already twisty single track road, made it a nervy drive. But as I said food was good and the setting is fantastic.

Despite the journey by road it is well worth it. The views are stunning and fortunately the rain had stopped and the sun shone. We just had a light lunch. Cullen Skink with chips 🍟 and Mackerel Pate with sourdough bread served with salad and gherkins. A lovely glass of rose. Service was excellent thankyou Jade and Mark the chef makes the best Pate ever. We will be back.

Stunning location, friendly service and really tasty food! We visited as a family of five having not been to the Pier cafe under the new ownership. Great to see the cafe open especially during the quieter winter season and really enjoyed our visit - would highly recommend the Haggis and Red Onion Chutney toastie which was special!

Fabulous cafe in most scenic location at the top of Loch Katrine. Warm, friendly welcome and service from all the staff despite us changing our booking several times. Varied choice of menu. We opted for toasted sandwiches with lovely wee side salads. Would definitely recommend the haggis with cheese and relish - haven't had this anywhere else and it was a delicious combination! The views from both inside and outside the cafe are amazing. There is both inside and outdoor seating and plenty of free car parking The cafe is excellent value for money and definitely worth a visit whether you are a local or visitor to this part of Scotland. *Lots of lovely cakes and scones too - we just didn't have time to try them - this time!

I have always loved this cafe and have had many wonderful lunches there, alone and with friends. I hadn't been for a while and heard it had changed ownership, so I took advantage of it being a decent day, to drive the 1.5 hours to go and try it out. I arrived, went into the cafe and saw several empty tables. I waited for ten minutes, while the staff walked past me several times. I eventually asked if I could sit down at an empty table and they shrugged and said "yeah." I waited another ten minutes, with noone coming to speak to me, and I jad to go up to the till (bear in mind it is table service) to ask for a menu. Another 15 minutes went by and I had to go back up to the till to ask what the soup was. I ordered soup and a tea at the till and went back to my seat. Around 20 mins later, my soup arrived. It was pea soup. It was completely inedible it tasted like frozen peas and water blended with a hand blender. Not a single bit of flavour to it. I tried a couple of spoonfuls but could barely swallow it. I was really hungry, so I ate the bread that came with it. My tea never arrived at all. I decided I didn't have time for this and went up to the till. I told them that I had no tea and the soup was inedible, but to please charge me for the bread. The woman went to speak to a bloke, and came back to say "I've to take your tea off the bill." I said "good, because I didn't have any!" I said that I didn't have any soup either as it was terrible. She went off again to talk to the bloke and came back and said really sullen and short "don't worry, it's ok...." and dismissed me with a wave. I had a better meal getting a sandwich at the Aberfoyle Co-op on the way home. I was thoroughly disappointed and, since the staff were happily serving all the other tables without any bother and in good time, am wondering why I got this lack of service and no-one else did. I was perfectly pleasant and polite throughout... I was just completely sidelined. Perhaps solo diners are treated differently. Perhaps they don't matter. I will not be going back there... not for anything. I am always telling people it's a great place and to go and try it, but I'd be mortified if someone went and had that kind of service, on my recommendation. The change of ownership has definitely seen this place go way downhill, at least in my experience. It is expensive, doesn't have great food and the service is non existent. Very, very poor.

We loved the Pier Cafe. Firstly, gorgeous setting! Don’t let the long drive out you off, just relax, take in the scenery, and enjoy. The cafe view over Loch KATRINE is well worth the time it takes to get there. Cafe was a little busy, but staff were all very friendly and the food was very fresh and tasty. I had the smoked mackerel pate, which was home made, tasty and given as a very generous portion. Couldn’t decide between that and the Cullen skink, maybe I should have just had both! Rest of the family had more ‘normal’ choices (toasties and jacket potatoes and chips), but everything was great. As a bonus, soft drinks felt reasonable too, and not totally over-priced as you get in some places.

The Pier Cafe is open Fridays and Saturdays for dinner. The dining room is small but perfectly set out for a safe and intimate dining experience. We were lucky enough to get a table by the window - I'm not sure we will have a...

Gracias

Nice staff. Pretty restaurant and food was good. I thought there would be more breakfast choices but was good. Room left a lot to be desired. Felt empty (repaired holes on wall, no wall decor at all...go opportunity to cover up repairs), bathroom was a little icky (mold around tub/shower hairs in tub) and worse for wear (dated and chipped/worn old furniture, stains on floor and sheets) Hardest bed I've ever slept on. Was ok for 100£ a night but wouldn't stay there again.

We popped in here for lunch while passing for the first time and were glad we did. The service was good, very quick and efficient, staff were very friendly. There is a good selection on the menu and even a dog menu, which our dogs loved! The soup was delicious and toasties were tasty but a little burnt around the sides so we couldn't even bite into some of them. They have no disabled parking which is disappointing. We will definitely pop in again if passing!
