A bit rustic for me - average food in an average atmosphere room - fine but a little underwhelming - needs a bit of love and care to get over the tired feel. Very welcoming staff

Well haven been here years ago drove up with my friends and god daughter from Essex only to find a frosty receptionist when I asked if we could still have lunch, “ask the bar I don’t detail with that”. Asked the barmaid and explained we had drove from Essex and did not know they stopped at 2.30 which it now was. Said oh I’ll ask the chef , hung about to then having to chase her and ask how she was getting on only to be told sorry no can’t serve you as they have finished. I understand but to turn away trade by not even offering sandwiches seems bad. When I was there before as I say they couldn’t do enough to feel you welcome . However today to quote billy Connolly , we were felt to be as popular as a fart on a space suit, and no I won’t be back and would never recommend them to anyone else travelling up to see a 300 year old bar with 20 century rude staff….

Of course it’s quirky and historical and has a brilliant USP but the waiting staff and so sour faced and miserable - guy behind the bar fine but c’mon ladies, a smile would not go a miss. We asked for water (we had already bought drinks) and you’d have thought we’d asked her to walk to Glasgow to fetch it on her head. Eating establishments that make you feel like apologising for your presence really get on my nerves.

Been many times on the way north. Used to have a smoky log fire, but this seems replaced by a wood burning stove, unlit in August. Had a light lunch. The diet coke came out of a hose, and had so much ice it was probably 50:50. The ham and cheese ciabatta melt was okay, though the salad side was poor salad leaves. The coleslaw may have been home made, however. The mac and cheese was okay, albeit a bit on the skimpy side, again with poor salad leaves. Certainly not gourmet fare, though the mostly passing trade may not be bothered.

We we rang ahead and were told we didn’t need to book so that was all good. We turned up and before even walking in to the pub the waft of beautiful smells was enough for us to know we were going to have a good time. Service was absolutely brilliant. Drinks service was great And made even better by the fact that all the staff were wearing kilts. The restaurant service was great. The food was absolutely 10 out of 10. We both had the vegetarian sausages, mash peas, onion gravy and crispy leaks which was 10 out of 10 absolutely delicious. The history of the place and the stuffed animals just added to the incredible Scottish vibe which we absolutely loved We Will definitely go back when We visit Scotland again. I’m really surprised by some of the negative reviews here because our experience was nothing but positive and I encourage you to Pay a Visit

We stopped here on route for a late lunch. It was very busy but the toilets were in a terrible state, we ordered tuna melts, which were smothered in orange cheese and tuna, mayo mix was slapped on. The salad had brown tips and was not dressed. The seating in the restaurant felt dirty. It was one of the most disappointing meals we have had. Don’t stop on route.

We arrived to find that all the tables in the main bar were already reserved, so we were sat in one of the other rooms. Fair enough, we hadn't booked in advance. We got a round of drinks and placed our food order, and waited. And waited. Another party arrived at the adjacent table, and ordered food, and ate it, and left. Still we waited. A guy eventually came to our table and asked if we could remember what we'd ordered, because there'd been a 'mix-up'. We repeated our order. Another party came in and ordered food, and were served. We collared the waitress as she passed and asked what was happening to our food, as we'd been waiting over an hour. She seemed unembarrassed, but said she would go and find out. That was the last we saw of her. We got another round of drinks. And waited some more. After what seemed like an age, our food finally arrived, without any word of apology for the wait. I got the impression that this pub gets a lot of passing trade who will only come in once, so they couldn't care less about giving their customers a good experience to draw them back. The surreptitiously-added service charge on the bill adds insult to injury. I was quite embarrassed by the fiasco because I'd recommended that we dine here for its quirky character. Live and learn, I won't be doing that again.

We stopped off for lunch at the Drovers on our way back from the Isle of Skye. I've visited the drovers dozens of times and as child on the way back from Skye/Mull and have always loved it. We had fish and chips and Steak and Guinness pie. The fish was described as a Shark on the menu, probably a little misleading as it was quite small, but still lovely quality. The pie was delicious though. We got the two meals and and a pint of diet coke and blackcurrant and soda. My husband paid at the til and after coming to sit down stated that the drinks must have cost £9 which seemed extortionate, especially when one was blackcurrant and soda. We were surprised but didn't think much else of it. Then after eating and looking at the menu fro desserts, it stated that a discretionary 10% service charge is added to every bill, so this is why the drinks seemed so expensive. We had paid an extra £3/4 on top of what the cost should have been. I think this is really sneaky that you are asked to order at the bar and then asked to pay, without being handed a bill to check-over, trust the bar staff and not be told there is a service charge on there. I don't mind paying, but its up to me and at my discretion, it shouldn't be added on and not mentioned and only stated at the bottom of a menu. One shouldn't have to be doing the maths in their head whilst stood there ordering, especially when one doesn't know the cost of drinks. I found this really sneaky that when paying upfront at the bar, it isn't' mentioned and our drinks have essentially cost £9 instead of £4.50. Just another thing, a couple on the next table with two children who were on ipads had them on loud, really annoying when trying to eat and all you can hear is game noises from two ipads, staff should have told them to put the devices on silent as to not disturb other guests, to me that would be common sense anyway. We also moved out of one of the dining rooms to the main bar due to a dog in there that would not stop barking at any person or dog who walked past, you could still hear him barking from the bar constantly. Whilst I have a dog and like a dog friendly venue, if they won't be quiet they should be told to go put them in the car, as its really annoying for guests, especially when dining and other dogs are behaved. Of course we'll be back and love the Drovers but just had to point out these 3 niggles which ruined our lunchtime.

The drovers inn has always been my favourite place to visit for a bite to eat and a nice scenic drive. But upon my return I saw they have increased the prices dramatically from only being there in the last couple of months. I normally get the fish and chips, and I always appreciate the reasonable priced food. Was £14 now its £18?!!! I bet the staff didn't get a rise like this! Same portion size, same everything. We had booked an over night stay for two couples and had phoned the day before to book dinner and were told that we could not book, so we arrived on Saturday 10/09/23 to see all the table with booked signs on them. We asked again and managed to get a table for 6.30, when this came the table had been given away. We eventually managed to get something to eat and the food was reasonable albeit on very uncomfortable seats. The singer in the main bar sounded great but we could not get in due t all the pre booked tables and the queue a the bar which had only one person serving and was continually busy. The room we stayed in was clean but the bathroom stank of excrement and the noise form the toilet next door vibrated through the wall, we went for breakfast which was frankly appalling, we paid £300 for two rooms and to be honest they were worth £50 the staff could not be bothered and were obviously overworked, the place needs closed down

Been going to the Drovers since the 70s. Today stopped for lunch. When I ordered at the bar the amount asked for seemed more than it should. When I asked the bar man what the prices were I was told he added a 10% service charge. I asked why I wasn’t told or that the menus didn’t mention it. He replied he “ Couldn’t be arsed “ and would take it off the bill. I was given an unitemized receipt for the total. The fish and chips was good. When I got home I happened to check my bank for something unrelated and noticed I had been charged twice. Once for the correct bill and once with the service charge. It would be nice to think it was a genuine mistake but I don’t think so. So sad . Ps called them several times but they don’t answer the phone

Its busy, and booking could be required. The place has its own atmosphere and worth a visit, even if its just for a drink. I'd happily go back again.

Called in at the end of a long and strenuous week walking in the hills. Opted for the Hunter’s chicken, which was described as being served with “fresh vegetables of the day”. When the food arrived it looked like it had been prepared earlier and...

We've driven by the Drovers many times and having visited family to drop off Christmas gifts we decided to stay overnight as a treat for ourselves for our anniversary. We paid £100 for a room in the lodge and for that price, at low season,...

We had a nice lunch here, a bit pricey for pub fare but nothing else around and the food was good. Hubby had the fish and chips and I had soup and salad which were all tasty. Service was fabulous, they were very accommodating.

With a few global giants nearby this independent knocks them for six in terms of quality and value. Recently reopened, post covid closure and I urge people to support this and other independent businesses, but only if they deserve it as this one clearly does. I had a bacon and a square sausage roll for breakfast and both were lovely. Returned on my last day for another bacon roll and had a couple of takeout rolls for later on the long train ride back home to Birmingham. Nice staff, nice place, deserves support. Recommended.

Beautiful little place serving tasty coffee & a fabulous menu. We only had scones which are freshly made & super tasty but I would prefer clotted cream not squirty cream. Friendly staff & fab decor & comfy seats. The window display is beautiful

Un repas simple mais bien présenté dans une ambiance chaleureuse. Nous avons pris des sandwichs qui sont arrivés en assiettes avec une belle petite salade d'accompagnement. Merci pour l'accueil c'est très bon

We have enjoyed visiting The Aizle many times over the past several years for both soup and a toastie or tea/coffee and cake. The staff are always friendly and efficient but the main attraction is the cakes which, although pricey are absolutely delicious. We had visited in May and had two teas and an americano coffee with hot milk and of course the cakes. Unfortunately, when we went there at the weekend, it is now apparently the practice to charge extra for the massive expense and effort involved in steaming a spoonful of milk to have with the coffee which means that a small cup of americano coffee which costs £2.65, presumably with cold milk, now has a surcharge of 75p, making it £3.40. We visit many restaurants and cafes and no-one else makes this additional charge so it really seems like greed. We won't be back.
