Highland Gate Stirling in Stirling

What an inviting establishment! They make one feel right at home with warm and friendly service. I came with a family group of six. We were generously welcomed, well informed, and well-cared for. The potato leek pie was a hit and the rooms were well stocked and clean. Would definitely swing through here again.

Visited this restaurant on a busy Saturday evening, and had Great meal. Callum and Annabelle both provided excellent service as well

Had a lovely breakfast, staff were very attentive and friendly. Nothing is ever a bother to them. Amanda brought us out some lovely fresh pastries and served our breakfast. Callum took our order and as he knows I love hash browns he popped them on my breakfast too. I have been coming here for years and it’s lovely to still see the original staff are still here. It shows it must be a nice place to work and the staff being happy gives customers an amazing service and makes us feel like valued customers. I watched the staff serve other guests and they took the time to chat to everyone and made sure everyone was happy. They are an amazing, friendly team. Ps… our dogs loved the left overs we took home from our huge breakfast and they were very happy! Thank you for the doggy bag

We had a fantastic time made to feel extremely welcome . The manger Callum went above and beyond to make our experience effortless and enjoyable . The service was second to none with nothing being too much for them . The chef Amanda makes amazing food and was extremely friendly and again made sure our breakfast’s were all made to our specification's . Overall we will definitely go back to The highland gate again and would highly recommend this beautiful establishment

Excellent lunch and service in this amazing find after a long drive. Forget the boys name, short hair, very outgoing and friendly, his knowledge of the menu was outstanding as was the recommended fish and chips. We will most definitely be back, thanks to Barona behind the bar.

Great experience for 4 days while we stayed at the Inn. Great food and the staff were all responsive to every request. Friendly and pleasant.

I visited here on a trip to stirling. We both had fish and chips it was delicious the fish was great portion size. I was so full count even eat a pudding. The drinks were reasonable price also great food thumbs up 👍

Usually a big fan of Marstons rooms and this was a typical nice room but no heating! This was the coldest hotel I have ever stopped in and it’s not even very cold outside. My bed felt damp to get into, I had to take the duvet off the second bed and my wet clothes didn’t dry (Scottish weather). The room was ok and I prefer a colder room but this was a little too cold even for me! Small point but the bath (great to have) did have very high sides, not a problem if your fit and agile.

Staff helpful and pleasant. Restaurant comfortable and good surroundings. Facilities clean and presentable. The menu was clear and varied. The food itself was good although the steak a little tough. The meal was certainly overall of good quality but portions were on the small side.

The food is excellent !! I cannot rate it highly enough - Thank you Chefs !!! It is Very reasonably priced too, the service was excellent as well, A special mention to Manager Callum for looking after me so well during my stay at the hotel and assistant manager Matt and all their staff, A big shout out to the front of house team that i have met so far, Cameron, Christopher, Joe, Bronagh and Megan and others that i don't yet know the names but who have helped my stay to be very pleasant - They are great front of house staff, so are the kitchen staff and the house keeping staff too - All are Fantastic ! I will be making this a regular dining/accommodation (Great comfortable en-suite rooms too) stop from now on !

Stayed here after a day at the Safari Park. Lovely hotel room. Breakfast was great all round 10/10 Dinner was fantastic,starters were Chicken Tenders Cauliflower wings Fish cakes all starters 10/10 Main meal was sweet potato curry Chicken n mushroom pie 10/10 again Will be back for sure.

Garbage food and terrible service. For a facility this big, they struggled to seat us, struggled to prioritise guests, and we were forced to order their disgusting food through the app. We had suggested we did that in the first place, but management asked us not to. I definitely won't be going back.

The food was lovely, and our waiter was okay he smelt like he had just smoked 10 cigarettes.

We visited Highland Gate in the past few weeks and was greeted and served by Cameron who was just lovely. He was very pleasant, nothing too much bother and a pleasure to be served by him. Cameron recommended kebab to my husband which was lovely. Food and service great Thanks again, and we will return.

Food was lovely, good choice on the menu, all arrived together and made changes no problem to meals eg adding a starter as a side.

Stopped here on our way home. Service was great. Food a bit pricey for portions but was yummy. £6 for a chicken starter (see photo). Kids loved the play but outside. Would recommend.

The place is gorgeous inside and out so we were very confused why it was so empty - but after our experience we completely understand why. The food is unnecessarily expensive and poor quality (the garlic bread especially is a solid very odd pastie which I couldn't even let my son eat because it was so hard). The service from our female waiter was unfriendly too based on her reaction to us ordering on the QR app on the table. She bluntly walked away making very clear she was unhappy that we hadn't ordered directly with her even though she was nowhere to be seen for over 20mins when we entered.

Visited today for lunch and it what a great experience. Staff were friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. We were given a lovely table by the window and all three of us throughly enjoyed our meals. We will look forward to returning the next time we’re in the area.

Staff were friendly and attentive, but the main meals were burnt, and it was hidden so we didn't notice straight away, the meat was turned over to hide the burnt side.

We've been here several times and enjoyed good food. Tonight we are staying too. Megan checked us in and went to great lengths to ensure I had a suitable room as I'm using crutches. She also served our meal. Megan is an incredibly personable young woman who makes our dining experience lovely. The food was great too. Thank you.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at The Highland Gate, to which we added the breakfast for £8.75. We will definitely be back. Kudos to Lewis (breakfast) , Bronagh, Callum and Luke for making our stay wonderful. They’ve been the highlight of our 87 day voyage!! Dinners were wonderful and after our first dinner we decided to dine at their homey restaurant for the remaining 2 nights. Great location for the Trossarchs.

Had dinner tonight 8th march 2024 and can honestly say through being part of the hospitality industry my partner and me had the most amazing time... Our server was Luke and his attention to detail was spot on. Gave us space but made sure to quality check making sure we were ok. Food was outstanding and will most definitely be back... Also a shout out to the manager as his first impression was everything and he made sure to engage in conversation with us. Just exactly what we needed... We stay five mins away and never took the time to enjoy it and now it will be our new date night place

This a nice place for a casual value meal. We had two breakfasts and a dinner here while staying at the inn. Staff were very friendly and my fussy 7 and 8 year old daughters munched all their food. Would definitely come here again next trip away from Ayrshire.

Very easy check in. Room was clean and tidy bed was super comfy and the bath was amazing, as I only have a shower at home. Very fast and reliable wifi

I have mixed feelings and with valid reasons too. Stayed at their hotel over Christmas and our booking had breakfast included. We only choose to use this breakfast booking for the 25th and 26th of December, and must I say I was disappointed of what was served for breakfast on Christmas! I initially thought that this is what they usually serve, only to go back on 26th and figure out that is not. Considering all places are closed for Christmas, I was expecting breakfast a little bit more, but instead we got served the bare minimum. Staff very agitated and not at all friendly on Christmas morning too, so disappointed with the service. 26th was a whole new experience and was what I would normally expect from a breakfast.

Staying the night at the hotel connected. So handy to have a pub next door. We had a great meal here. Anna was our waitress, super friendly and did an amazing job accommodating all our need! Well done

Delicious for a nice casual lunch

We've had both breakfast and dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed both, especially dinner, which was enhanced by Calum! He reminded us of a favorite bartender at home, took care of us in a humorous way, and was generally attentive and answered questions easily.

We had a very relaxing lunch with fantastic service from Megan and Lucy. There is a varied menu to suit all appetites and tastes.

Food was amazing. Amanda the chef made sure all of our food was correct. Service was fast and everyone is so welcoming.

Excellent friendly service and very good quality food with massive portions. The whole place is modern clean and tidy. Would absolutely recommend.

Server was very polite and attentive food was good quality and a reasonable price and a fairly large portion, atmosphere was nice and chilled lots of kids about but all well behaved. Overall a good experience.

Four of us enjoyed lunch at the Highland Gate. All meals were good. The best gammon steak I have had. Generous portions.

We were immediately seen to on arrival. From there on the service was excellent. The manager was very helpful and the young gentleman who served our table was very good and friendly. Even the man who filled up the machines in the kids play area promised to give my granddaughter a reward if she ate all her meal and true to his word ,he let her chose a child friendly toy. She was absolutely delighted. The food was hot and the quality very good. The prices were very reasonable. The parking facilities outside were abundant and spacious. Prosseco was not chilled brought another bottle after i asked for a chilled one it was still warm. Then asked for a jug with ice to put the 2nd bottle in. Starter was cold in the middle I had kofta so after the 2nd plate was still not hot and cold in the middle I asked them to just bring the main and to my utter disbelief the seabass was also luke warm and not once did anyone come to ask if everything was OK. Will not be back, very poor! Hot prosecco and cold food. No thanks

Had good value lunch. Waiter listened and had alteration made to one course to suit us.

There was 5 of us having lunch last Saturday which was absolutely delicious especially the lamb shank compliments to the chef. Calum was a fantastic host and the banter was just hilarious and his recommendations were spot on. The girls helping where very pleasant and friendly. Good experience all round.

Food was decent but service was terrible. Waited ages on drinks, ordered deserts two were brought out then we were told they had run out of the other, which was sticky toffee pudding, which is one of the most popular deserts anywhere so to run out of this was ridiculous. And to wait until the other deserts were served before telling us wad just ridiculous, this actually ruined things especially given the very slow service.

Quiet afternoon lunch No problem with service at the time and food was good Problem came after we left and I looked at bill in detail We had ordered from the set lunch menu 14:50 two course 17:25 three course (from memory) so was surprised to find food total £40:58 Mystery solved when I realised we had been charged full price for sweets! No mention when we ordered sweets that we would be charged extra OK our fault for not challenging bill when presented but it does leave a bad taste especially as in view of the service we thought we had received we left a decent tip!

Arrived late and the kitchen was closing. The manager very kindly arranged for some food that the staff were eating to be shared with me, which was very much appreciated. Have stayed here a few times and the rooms are always clean and comfortable and the restaurant welcoming.
