Get this, the main entry door is always closed , a notice in the window offers a phone number ( we tried that ) . It has 2 door bells so take your pick . We were holidaying in town for a week, did we gat a reservation ? No . On our final attempt we rang both bells and eventually the owner answered the door. We asked if a table was available we were told no. So we discussed the difficulty in contacting them to make a reservation and apart from an arrogantly complacent attitude about how well established the business was , she was not open for questioning of why it was so difficult to make such a booking or in fact establish basic communication. So 2 potential clients were turned away with an attitude of indifference. Good Luck !

Its B and B centrally located near the national park. It’s on the Main Street in Callander and run by a friendly couple. The breakfast was good. The licks to the doors was a struggle with 3 keys on a large wooden piece of wood. The mattress and bed linen were old, uncomfortable and downright pitifully dated. I did not sleep well due to the mattress. Outside of the bed the place was history and quaint. Would return for dinner but not to stay overnight.

Have been a regular visitor to Callander for the past 30 years and cannot believe this is our first time eat in this establishment. What have we been missing - top notch food, good quality wine accompanied by great service. Highly recommended, especially if you are a foodie and wine lover. Limited menu but less is often more.

Going for dinner is not only about food but also about atmosphere and good feeling. At the Meadows it is all being taken care of in an onforgettable way. Food and tastes to remember and an friendly experience that will last for life. Michelin would rate this restaurant as worth for a detour. I would ssy it is worth the goal of your travel. Within miles of Callander this is the only place where they don't fill you with nssty hamburgers an pizzas but with real tasty homemade quality food. Thanks!

We had an outstanding meal here. The menu was very thoughtfully put together. The standard of cooking was superb. Quite possibly the best steak I’ve had! The scallops were fantastic too! Very generous portions. We couldn’t fit in dessert at the time, however we were kindly offered to take it away. 3 hours later we managed it, and it was so so good! I’d highly recommend a visit here if you can get booked in! We were looked after superbly, not intrusive and there when you needed something. Overall a fantastic experience.

Had the seasonal set dinner menu and it was absolutely delicious. Special mention to the cheese brulee starter and the venison main course! Portion sizes were spot-on for the number of courses, we just about managed to squeeze in a coffee at the end. Absolutely outstanding meal and service at The Meadows this evening. It’s clear that Nick and Susannah want their customers to have the best experience from the minute they enter the door. The July menu offered enough choice but because the food is so very good, we wanted to try all of it! So good to leave feeling like we’d had an awesome culinary experience in Callander and not feeling fleeced at the same time.

£127 for two gins, two glasses of white wine, a bottle of red ( from a very narrow selection) and some distinctly below average food left us disappointed given past reviews. We must take some of the blame for assuming the medallion's of so called fillet steak would be served pink when we weren't asked how we would like them done. . They arrived black on the outside, grey in the middle and basically inedible. The salmon fillet was seriously under seasoned . A disappointing experience...

I just love this place and have been a visitor here for at least 60 years. It offers peace and Tranquility as you watch the River Teith's swift current roll by. There are always Swans and ducks hoping to be fed. Majestic Ben Ledi is the backdrop. There is crazy golf and good food at the new Callander Clubhouse at the far end of the car park and ancient history at St. Kessogs Mound at the opposite end. Truly a place of Scenic beauty.

From the first greeting to the final wave this was a great experience. The owners could not do enough to assist. The building itself is very elegant and the furniture complements this. The chef teaches in the Nick Nairn cookery school. Breakfast was fabulous. We had a four poster bed in a large room. It is in the centre of town but parking was free and easy. Handy for walks to Strathyre, Branklyn Falls, Ben Ledi, Ben Guilipen or just meander down to the river. If your wondering what to do for lunch try the pies or cakes in Mhor Bakery a few yards away.

Back in Callander for the 2019 Jazz and blues Festival. I always, without fail, make time to sit and enjoy the beautiful meadows by the river Tieth. I am now 67 and have come here almost annually since i was 10 years old. Many family memories are here for me. It is a beautiful place in any weather. October has been unkind for several years now but this is a must see place on any trip with its anazing Ben Ledi mountain backdrop. A beautiful panorama can be taken from the bridge over the Tieth at Bridgend hostel on the A81 to Aberfoyle just a little out of town.

Not only was this a lovely hotel but Callander itself was a really nice town with some lovely shops and pretty places to visit. The hotel is run by Nick and Suzanne who are the perfect hosts. A warm welcome on arrival. Plenty of advice on what to see and where to go for a drink. The hotel itself is very tastefully decorated in an understated way. I loved our room with its leather sofa, gorgeous Checked woollen curtains and a very comfortable king size bed.The evening meal.... to. Die. For. !!!!A real gourmet meal. stayed here a couple weeks back ,to do a bit of walking in and around Callander found the place no problem as its on the main street , never had a chance to eat (apart from breakfast) because we forgot to book , but breakfast was great , and you order what you want the night before which is a great idea we thought , room was great , though we would have liked a better view (looking on to the main street) but it was fine got up early on the sunday to go walking after breakfast ,only to discover they had a water leak downstairs and it was coming from our room (we found this out later on in the afternoon after our walk) ,so they had to turn off our water supply in our room ,to be fair they said they tried to get us a room elsewhere in the town but everywhere else was full ,so they (as in the owners Nick & susanna) very kindly offered us the use of their own private bathroom and shower, which we took up there offer ,well we were out walking the hills for 5 hours ,all in all we had a lovely time staying at the meddows and will be back again very soon .

We stayed here for 3 nights recently. This was our first visit to Callander Meadows but most certainly won’t be our last. It is fantastic! The owners – Nick and Susannah – were most welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Dog friendly was important to us and again, our pet pooch was also made to feel welcome, particularly as the owners also have a Spaniel (Fergus). Our room was spotlessly clean and it was quite novel to sleep in a four-poster bed. It was a good size room and had everything we needed for our stay. The breakfast was superb – good choice and plenty of it! Dinner is available Wednesday-Saturday but we weren’t able to sample the delights of their menu as we didn’t want to leave the dog in the bedroom and opted instead to dine in local restaurants (the Crown and The Waverley in Callander and The Forth Inn Aberfoyle, all of which are dog friendly and serve good food at reasonable prices). We used the Guest Lounge at night and also after breakfast as we were able to bring the dog down and enjoy a leisurely coffee before heading out. There are a number of parking options. There’s a gate to the left of the property and we were told we could use this, although there’s a bit of a slope down to it. You can stop here (in front of the gate) to drop off luggage etc. We parked on the main road outside the property which is free of charge – but there are times when there are no spaces. There are a couple of pay car parks nearby (Callander Meadows is very close) which charge from 8.45 – 5.30 (I think) and the cost is £2 or £3. Only once we had to park here overnight (no charge) and move the car to the main road before 8.45. Callander is a lovely place and ideal for walkers and cyclists in particular. The fact that Callander Meadows was like a deluxe home from home was just the icing on the cake! Highly recommended!

Consulting the Rough guide to Scotland, this hotel/ restaurant was rated as an ideal place for coffee. Arriving at the open door, and the sign announcing they were open, we were met by a rude man possibly the owner, who was extremely abrupt and ushered us out like naughty school children. Having had a delightful dinner for two recently, we decided to return for a Christmas dinner catch up with friends. We like the cosy Scottish French bistro style of the dining rooms where you can enjoy great cooking without the fuss of table cloths. The rooms are small enough for the experience to feel intimate. The chef owner couple previously worked at Gleneagles Hotel, so the menu offers creative flavours and flair without being over the top and at a price point that many restaurants charge for average fish and chips or steak pie. The turkey was succulent including the brown meat and I loved the home made bread sauce, cranberry and trimmings. I enjoyed the salmon terrine with lemon curd too. A lovely combination. The puddings were too pretty to eat but too tasty to leave. We will definitely be back for more of this creative rustic tasty cooking. The young front of house service team are the icing on the cake.

On Friday 1st of December 2017, we celebrated my girlfriend's 30th birthday. The evening was absolutely delightful. The owners, which includes the chef, were lovely and really helpful, as well as the waiters. They privatised the restaurant for us (32 people) and everybody had such a great time. We even had a young baby with us and the owner really made sure everything was okay for him, letting his parents use an empty room upstairs, away from the crowd. Not only the atmosphere was great, but the food was very good and freshly made. Overall, a great evening. I would totally recommend the place and I'm looking forward to go back again. Thanks to all the staff and the owners for their kindness.

We went there twice on a recent visit to Callander. This is good home cooking at its very best, well presented and served by very amiable young staff. As others have said, it is indeed first class food at an affordable price. A lovely meal for 2 plus a bottle of wine between us cost us about £80 including gratuity. It will be a pleasure to go there again.

The food quality was exceptional and beautifully presented. The staff were very friendly and it was a comfortable and relaxed environment. They were very willling to meet the needs of one of our party who has a dairy and gluten allergy and offered a delicious adaptation of an item on their menu.

I was between gigs at the recent Callander Jazz and Blues Festival. As a party of 5 we decided to dine at the meadows, a place that i'd never visited before on all my trips to this gorgeous, quaint little hideaway. This is gourmet dining at its finest. You will feel that you have suddenly went back in time to the 19th Century. Please understand that i mean this as a compliment in today's fast food/ pub food environment. The decor is very olde worlde and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We all had succulent lamb and chicken dishes complimented by an assortment of potatoes and beautifully cooked veg. The meal was most enjoyable. Nick and Susannah Parkes, the owners have aimed at a particular market and have got it absolutely right. It is not cheap but you get what you pay for and what you get here is a perfectly pleasurable dining experience in peace and quiet where you can enjoy good food, wine and conversation with friends. We finished with some excellent Creme Broullet? and Coffees. Our bill came to around £150 for 5 people including drinks of which there were several. A thoroughly enjoyable early evening meal. The meadows also has rooms for rent. Tel.01877 330181

Myself and 2 friends went in for lunch but won’t be back!We placed our lunchtime order, two of us ordered the same - chicken strips with mushrooms in a creamy sauce, we asked the waiter if it came with veg and potatoes and yes enough for 2!Our meals came with veg enough for 1 and was told the potatoes would follow. There was a tiny amount of chicken on the plate ( between the 2 plates maybe quarter of a chicken breas and 1 mushroom between 2)) we had to ask for potatoes after waiting 15 min oh they forgot to put them on! One meal went back the other waited for chips which came after the meal was finished! The 3rd meal was excellent, we were not charged for the chicken dishes, very disappointed with this restaurant but the waiter was excellent as we said wasn’t his fault!

Gracias

We popped in here for lunch while passing for the first time and were glad we did. The service was good, very quick and efficient, staff were very friendly. There is a good selection on the menu and even a dog menu, which our dogs loved! The soup was delicious and toasties were tasty but a little burnt around the sides so we couldn't even bite into some of them. They have no disabled parking which is disappointing. We will definitely pop in again if passing!
