Spent a couple of relaxing nights here and thoroughly enjoyed the service, food and atmosphere. Dinner menu was super but breakfast deserves a special mention, such great quality produce all round. The bar/lounge is a great place to hang out and although we didn’t sample them, the cakes and meringues looked lovely if just popping in for a coffee during the day. Dog-friendly too.

Absolutely lovely staff, so friendly and attentive. Super menu and great food for the vegetarian and carnivore alike! But what a quirky motel that sits just off the A84 and a stone’s throw from Rob Roy’s grave. On entering one could easily imagine they were stepping onto the set of that Hitchcock movie though fortunately we were greeted by a wonderful lady receptionist and Norman Bates was nowhere to be seen. The shower also had a modern glass screen and no curtain but that’s where modernity ended. The whole motel looks very tired. The shower room with WC is a walled off corner of the room, so small that space for even the toilet roll is at a premium. The walls are also paper thin, so the deployment of ear plugs essential for a quiet night’s sleep! We were happy with our stay but wouldn’t choose to revisit if we found ourselves in the same area again.

huge thank you to the team for a wonderful weekend. I really appreciated the help on the phone and over email to organise our booking and make sure we had the right rooms for our party of 10. Really excellent food and drink. Very friendly and accommodating staff. We were so well looked after. We'll be back! Please pass on our thanks to the team, they really helped make it a special weekend.

We booked a table for my birthday dinner but ended up leaving after our drinks came. My husband asked if they have tennents beer on which the male waiter replied - no but we have mhor84 which is actually just as bad!!!! ??? What customer service is that? My cocktail I had ordered wasn’t great and the food overpriced unless you want burger or fish and chips. Unfortunately not a nice experience, we paid our bill for drinks and left. Reading previous comments about poor customer service I really think someone should have a good chat with this male waiter. It used to be such a great place to go to but something definitely has changed..

Really want to like it here but each time we have been something has been a bit let down. In this occasion we took visiting family, and booked a table for 6. Service was very slow, it took a long time for our order to be taken and even longer (close to an hour) for our food to be brought out despite it not being very busy. Two dishes had incorrect items in them but we had waited so long it wasn't worth sending them back. Prices are not cheap, and even if they were I would expect both better food and better service. Having talked to other friends about visits here it seems to be a common theme, high prices, poor service, inconsistent meals which aren't worth it. Great setting and Mhor Bread in Callander is great, so hope they can get this place up to the standard it should be 🤞

We had a beautiful family meal here. Staff were pleasant and the service was quick. I would highly recommend the fish and chips, the batter was so light and crispy! The macaroni cheese was also really tasty. The kids portion was decent and my son loved his battered chicken. The kids menu is a little small though. We will be back to try out the dinner menu! Our only issues were that the long tables with multi styled chairs in the dining room, are uncomfortable for tall people to sit at. There is not alot of room between table and seat, as the table is so deep, so our legs were very cramped. The decor is also a little tired.

The outside looked nice, and the reviews looked good, so we went in expecting some hearty Scottish grub, and were instead blown away by the quality of the Gourmet style food. I had Scallops followed by a Trout Risotto and my wife had the Mussels followed by the stuffed Aubergine. We had initially intended to share our dishes with each other but after one taste were unwilling to give up one mouthful! After how much we enjoyed our dinner, we went back the next day for an impromptu lunch, and the quality was just as good albeit on a smaller menu. Make sure you don't order too much though, as portion sizes are absolutely massive! Very useful if you're stopping in after a long hike or cycle, but would come as a shock to someone just going for a meal out. We went on a Tuesday in the winter, and it was quite full, so I'd expect booking a table would be reccomended.

Had a glass of wine in my room after dinner. £11.50. Medium sized red. Robbed does not begin to describe how I felt. I don't believe there is a room service charge. There certainly wasn't for the pre dinner drinks. Covid meant no alcohol with dinner hence room drinks.

We visit the restaurant about six times per year and always enjoy it. However, we visited on 7th October as my husband wanted to go there for his birthday lunch. What a disappointment! We ordered 2 portions of fish and chips and a portion of macaroni and cheese with a portion of chips. We waited over 45 minutes for our lunch to arrive despite the place not being busy, but worse, when they served the macaroni to my husband it looked burnt and when he opened it up through the burnt herb crust on top, it was a pile of dry cooked macaroni with no sauce, I had to look twice as I couldn’t believe that such an appallingly meal both in presentation and in quality could be served to a customer. It was sent back and my husband decided not to wait another 45 minutes for a meal. When the bill arrived, they hadn’t charged for the macaroni and ‘no’ cheese but nevertheless charged him for the chips - neither the pleasant birthday lunch or service we would expect - I wish I’d taken my £40 and spent it elsewhere. Despite taking guests to the restaurant and recommending it to others in the past, we won’t be returning in the future.

It is with a heavy heart I write this review. We are, as a family, huge fans of Mhor 84, in fact our boys left Suffolk last sept at crack of dawn to make breakfast at Mhor 84 before heading on for a week in Skye with us. They loved it. We, as every year, were heading north for a week in Skye after an eve with cousins in Gartmore. The breakfast was such a disappointment. Nothing like in previous years. Very mediocre sausage and haggis and not the whole gamut of the breakfast experience. The ambience was still great (even though knitted cushions had had to go with Covid) and we loved your Covid notices but what has happened to the breakfast? Recently I had to put something on a friend’s 50th of things to do with her and I said to climb a hill at dawn and breakfast at Mhor 84. Mmmm not so sure now. Please up there price and bring back the sublime breakfast! Frances

The staff were amazing, from the woman on reception who brought us Prosecco while getting ready, to the chatty waiting staff. Despite all the restrictions at the moment, we were more than able to relax and enjoy ourselves. The food was great. We both had specials, I had pork belly and my husband had steamed cod, followed by sticky toffee pudding. For breakfast we had the french toast and healthy breakfast. Initially I was told that there were no avocados left, so opted for poached eggs instead, however, they managed to find and avocado, so I managed to have both!! My only regret is not trying a pizza, because the pizza oven smelled so good.

Had read mixed reviews online so we decided to book in for a dinner meal with the staff saying they were pretty booked but apparently managed to squeeze us in. Arrived and the restaurant was completely empty with us being the only ones there. First off ordered drinks and got charged £5 for a very small mocktail and given a full pint when asked for a half pint as well as an extremely dirty water glass. Onto food we ordered fish and chips and two pizzas as we had thought they looked nice. Fish and chips arrived within minutes of being ordered (always worrying) and the pizzas followed not too long after. Fish and chips were standard fish and chips so can’t complain however the pizzas came chargrilled on the bottom and tasted like charcoal, a real shame as they could of been delicious. When waitress was clearing the half eaten pizza remains she only said she would tell the chef they were burned and only later on offered to give one free of charge. After that we decided not to stay for pudding.

No offer of sauces until I asked and then it came in a packet, vinegar in a small jug. Coffee was Illy and excellent. Table was a long bench with assorted uncomfortable chairs. Covid rules seem not to apply as menus were plastic not paper, I didn’t see any wiping down as people left, toilet has definitely not been deep cleaned (or cleaned in sometime given dirt and grease on radiator, socket and under the sink). Can't fault the location of this place, and sitting on the veranda was an enjoyable experience. The food was pretty good on the whole as well. The service though, was pretty tepid. No butter for bread, no finger-bowl for mussels, or soup spoon for the broth, tiny bar napkins instead of proper napkins (which when your eating mussels is pretty annoying), irritatingly misjudged dance music and just a lack of welcome or much sense of interest from the waiting staff. It was okay, but we felt like we were left to just fend for ourselves a lot of the time. I wouldn't see my self rushing back.

We booked for two nights when everything opened back up at the beginning of July. Last night we got a call to say they had 'double booked'. We are already en route to Scotland and have booked the car etc. Absolutely devastated. They didn't even offer to help us make alternate arrangements. We asked about their sister hotel to which the response was 'that's a 5 star hotel don't you know?'. We've had absolutely no response to our enquiries and requests for assistance and are now having to try and make last minute arrangements with only a few days notice. Totally ruined the staycation we have been so looking forward to. Thanks for nothing Mhor84.

Waited to be seated (as the sign said) and with a wave of a hand we were told to take a seat. We had to approach a member of staff and ask for out order to be taken due to later arriving customers being served before us. 40 MINS later breakfast arrived. Bacon was folded over and undercooked. Teapot had a months dust on the lid. This review should come as no surprise as when asked if everything was ok the staff member was left in doubt everything wasn’t ok. After placing our order we waited over an hour for our starters. The waitress was incompetent in her role and didn’t ask how our food was at all, only asked if we were finished. My wife and I had lunch here on the 15th of February. We had been given a voucher for Christmas and this was the first opportunity to use it. The server who met us was pleasant and cheerful and showed us in to the dining room. I was aware that the ambience is “shabby chic”, with an odd assortment of down-cycled chairs and old re-purposes long tables. One has clearly been an old workshop bench and ours was stripped pine on a paint-peeling underframe. That's fine by me, I love scrubbed pine but this one had evidence of many past meals, clearly unscrubbed. The place settings are not even wiped between covers. A server came and took our order - not the cheerful, competent one that met us. She took our drinks order, our food order and left us to wait. And wait. And wait some more. Three quarters of an hour later, the food arrived. And the server (the cheerful one) asked if we wanted drinks…Three quarters of an hour in a restaurant where both other diners were midst-meal and no servers plied their trade - but with no meal, no drinks. Had the food been a hand-crafted culinary masterpiece with nibbles and appetisers to fill the weary gap, things would have been different. As it happened, my fish was well cooked with an excellent batter but my wife’s stripped burger - she doesn’t like the trimmings - was dry and uninspiring. So were the chips. Just a tad up on MacFries, they were tasteless, over pre-seasoned and bootlace thin. Obviously out of a plastic sack from a truck. Don't mention the mushy peas, they were unmentionable. The lady server stopped by to ask how our meal was. She didn't wait to find out, having moved on, box ticked, before our answer. The owners seem to be mightily satisfied with their quirky, mismatched offering. I beg to differ. Our visit was paid for by our children, a very nice thought. My review is objective, honest and not motivated by malice.

We were up at Lochearnhead for the weekend and ended up eating at Mhor 84 twice! Quirky place just off the main road with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is delicious, I’d recommend the burgers and the meringues and you get a great coffee at the end of your meal too.

Popped in here for a lunch today. I had a plate of (very filling) Cullen Skink and my husband had the Scotch Rarebit with him. Both were enjoyable.have never stopped off in this area, only passed through and Mika, our waitress answered all our questions about Balquidder and surrounding area. Very pleasant and helpful lady.

My partner and I visited here for dinner on a Saturday night as the options locally to eat in the evening are limited in winter. I had high hopes based on reviews but our experience was somewhat different. Firstly, the table set ups aren't the comfiest, seats are borderline painful and table sizes mismatched made for uncomfortable leg room. The Gin 99 was especially nice, but they charge you separately fix mixer so a single G&T is £7+. The menu was limited, and on the pricy side. We took sourdough and olives for start, the sourdough was pretty tough and with a small amount of butter, which only covered half the portion. Olives fresh out the jar from Lidl, at least they were large. On to the main, I was excited to try the lamb (which the waitress explained was bred in local fields) with a type of potato gratin and a haggis crumb, my partner ordered the south Indian king prawn curry. We were both incredibly disappointed to be served the smallest of portions. I received two small chunks of lamb, cooked rare which was exactly what I'd have but with lots of white, under cooked fat on the top and two bits of tender-stem broccoli and a chunk of gratin. My partner was served less than a half cup of rice to accompany his 6 king prawns. Although most of it tasted nice, for £17 for the lamb and £15.50 for the curry, we left feeling hungry and a bit cheated. To leave an extra taste of dissatisfaction, it took 20 minutes to bring a bill when we sat right next to the till and it was a quiet evening. Needless to say we won't be back.

We previously had a really fantastic meal after being recommended by a friend. On that occasion we checked out the menu online as the restaurant is about 40mins drive one way from us. Arrived at the restaurant and had a delicious variety of seafood including Scottish mussels, a slow cooked meat dish and fab salad. On our second visit we checked the website again and the same menu was shown as an example so we booked and off we went.On arrival we were presented with a much more limited menu, with none of the seafood at all and no particularly interesting meat offerings, and so asked the very nice waitress to let management know that the website menu was out of date and actually quite misleading. To which she replied we were not the first to bring this to her attention and that it had been passed on previously.Anyway, long story short, we could have stayed in our local town and had a better meal. The burgers that the children had were adult portions but were so mean in their patty size that we were flabbergasted! Brought this to the attention of the wait staff who suggested the kitchen might be making smaller portions today as they were busy...Overall no reason to drive to this venue as can get a better lunch in many other places now and very, very disappointing as a second experience.

Just got back from a 3 night stay to spend New Year’s Eve in Scotland. This place really made the trip. The bar is super cosy with wood burners and the outlook onto the mountains very beautiful. I loved the decor and the food was excellent. We very quickly eased ourselves into the flow of breakfast, walk, lunch, walk/play game, evening meal, more games/chat. Local scenery is breathtaking and we also visited Rob Roy’s grave. The staff were very easygoing and friendly. Menu catered well for everyone - including teenagers and vegetarians. There was traditional folk music in the bar one evening which was great. For NYE itself we went to the main sister hotel where there was a dinner and disco in the barn. Atmosphere was lovely - like going to a family wedding. Go there! Haste ye back!

Stayed nearby so called a couple of times for an evening meal. Staff friendly, great music and food very tasty, if a little expensive. Just off the A84 so handy to call in, plenty of parking.

Stopped off for late breakfast on way back from weekend at Loch Earn. Nice looking place from the outside. Lovely friendly welcome. Quirky and rustic inside. Couple of nice fires burning. A few cobwebs around and windows could do with a lick of paint. View spoiled by large septic tank right in front of hotel in car park. We both had the full breakfast and it was delicious.

We used to frequent here with our family quite a lot. We havent been for quite a few months and decided to return. It was really quite disappointing. It feels like it has changed management from when Mhairi used to run it. The staff were not very attentive and when they came over to clear our table but we were still eating, one of the waiters could be heard quite clearly saying how annoying that was as he walked away. It wasn’t a nice feel. The food was fine. Not excellent, just fine. Perhaps it was an off night, but it was really very different from past experiences.

Stopped in at Mhor 84 on way from Oban to Edinburgh airport. The food was terrible. The leak and potato soup was a brown coloured watery dish which dont think was leak and potato and the bread with it was stale. It was the worst soup I have ever tasted. The chichen burger bun was burnt and the pathetic chips where from a bag of frozen. The food here has gone downhill since we last ate there. We where in a hurry to catch a plane so did not complain at the time. Will never eat there again.

The chef was clearly in love with salt. The soup had way too much of it and looked fairly unappetizing and the burger plate had flakes of salt all over it (???). In addition, the service was very slow - not entirely understood why, given that the place was nearly empty. Perhaps they were slaughtering animals and growing veg....

Quite unassuming from the front, you could be forgiven for thinking it’s just another road side cafe, when it’s actually a really amazing restaurant.

Stopped here with family for some tea/coffee (i.e. latte) and meringue with cream. Service was quick. The meringue's were huge, very tasty with a chewy centre just as they should have and served with a vanilla cream. Really tasty!

We had a nice early dinner here recently. The staff were polite and the space is really interesting and pleasant. The food was really nice but we were served clearly frozen chips. These guys have a fantastic chippy just down the road so there’s no excuse for it.

We stopped off at this ‘shabby’ motel on the way to Glencoe, looking for a lunch. The menu suggested rip off prices and we each ordered a “ploughman’s sandwich”, which consisted of a thin slice of cheese, a chewy slice of ham, a brown lettuce leaf, a scraping of mustard and no butter on the sourdough bread. It was also accompanied with a very feeble and poor salad garnish without any dressing. We ordered a side of chips to share, which was also poor quality and a very small portion.

Dropped by Mhor 84 after a walk around Loch Tay for a early dinner and again we were not disappointed. We started with Belly Pork and Smoked Salmon which were both very good. I followed with Cod Loin, which was beautifully cooked and my partner had the Mhor Burger which she devoured! We finished off with a Bitter Chocolate tart and a Rhubarb Frangipane from the cake display, again both very good. The service was excellent despite being quite busy and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Thank you for a lovely meal last night, chicken stroganoff tasty and tender . Husband had babotie- tried some and had such delicate flavour, gorgeous. We were 30mins away but definitely worth the drive round , would recommend you try it . And should mention guy serving us, Mike I think, offered a warm & welcoming visit.

With a few global giants nearby this independent knocks them for six in terms of quality and value. Recently reopened, post covid closure and I urge people to support this and other independent businesses, but only if they deserve it as this one clearly does. I had a bacon and a square sausage roll for breakfast and both were lovely. Returned on my last day for another bacon roll and had a couple of takeout rolls for later on the long train ride back home to Birmingham. Nice staff, nice place, deserves support. Recommended.

We have enjoyed visiting The Aizle many times over the past several years for both soup and a toastie or tea/coffee and cake. The staff are always friendly and efficient but the main attraction is the cakes which, although pricey are absolutely delicious. We had visited in May and had two teas and an americano coffee with hot milk and of course the cakes. Unfortunately, when we went there at the weekend, it is now apparently the practice to charge extra for the massive expense and effort involved in steaming a spoonful of milk to have with the coffee which means that a small cup of americano coffee which costs £2.65, presumably with cold milk, now has a surcharge of 75p, making it £3.40. We visit many restaurants and cafes and no-one else makes this additional charge so it really seems like greed. We won't be back.

Beautiful little place serving tasty coffee & a fabulous menu. We only had scones which are freshly made & super tasty but I would prefer clotted cream not squirty cream. Friendly staff & fab decor & comfy seats. The window display is beautiful
