The Back Bar in Stirling

Visited here with my wife for a couple of pre dinner drinks. Barmaid was really friendly and so were the local drinkers . The toilets were immaculate . I’d visit again!

In previous visits to the Back Bar we have found it to be ok without being exceptional. On this visit, whereas the decor et al seemed much the same, standards of service have dropped considerably. When we arrived and entered the bar, a waitress was coming from the beer garden. Normally one might expect a cheery “hello” and a question re whether we were looking for a table. Nope - nada. She simply ignored us. Undeterred we went into the bar and asked the barman if there was any room. The simple reply “Wur fu’” (translation - sorry sir, we are currently full at the moment) was all that we got. Perhaps he could have suggested we take a table in the half-empty beer garden until an inside table becomes available? But no - “wur fu’” was all that we got. On leaving the bar we bumped into the waitress again who still said nothing and watched while we ignored the half empty beer garden and left. Either these two people are in the wrong job or they simply don’t care about encouraging trade. Whatever the case, we went down the road to the Crags Hotel where, although it looked full, someone moved to another table in order to free one up for us. We were made most welcome and stayed all evening. Chalk and cheese.

Been in callender for 4 days now we have ate is several restaurants for lunch/dinner, the back bar has by a mile been the best meal we have had, the staff are so lovely and can't do enough for you, like any bar we can't approach the bar to purchase drinks so these guys make sure your glass is never empty by constantly checking in on their customers, the food was Amazing and the portions are more than enough 😀 will definitely be coming back ☺

Short break took me to the Back Bar and booked table for the Saturday. Crackin outdoor space which is sun trap. Food was hot and enjoyed the range. Covid-19 guidelines in place. Staff were helpful and happy. Only downside entrance and lane really do need a revamp as looks tacky and yet spotlessly clean in beer garden and indoor restaurant.

Just off the Main Street and hidden away but well worth a visit. Great decking area outside. Sport shown on TVs. Great range of gins and cocktails. Brilliant service from friendly staff.

Lovely place just of the street we didn't find it untill the last day of our stay but weren't let down nice decked garden out the side to enjoy the sunshine lots of bif tv's for the sport plenty of tables for food and drinks staff were all helpfull

Dobré jídlo za dobrou cenu k tomu pivo co víc chtít. Místo slouží ke schůzkám s přáteli, hraje zde muzika, je tu kulečník. Dobré místo kam zajít na večeři. Velký výběr jídel i pití.

Great bar, good choice of beer and bottled real ale. The food is very good quality and excellent value, very helpful staff

Have just attempted to visit the Back Bar for dinner on our weekend trip to Callander, as we had seen some favourable reviews of the food on this site. Menu attached to the gate and sign in the street stating food served from 12-9. Menu also on wall in bar. However on approaching bar staff to request menu. Advised that food is not served here! No further information or advice provided so we are now in an alternative restaurant along the road. Don’t waste your time!

Had the Thai curry which was really excellent ..Fiance had fish n chips which was much better than any chippie and well worth the money .

The menu was excellent value for money, most main courses are £6.50 and portions were fab. the steak was fantastic, very well cooked. Dad had fish which was huge and looked great.

We stopped here for a drink and late dinner. It was a lot bigger and more modern than I expected for the town, but not really in a good way. It just had no character. The food was okay. We had pizza, I saw a burger pass by and wished I had ordered that. We didn't stay long.

Needed a meal while touring, chose this place as it was close, had good reviews and was low cost. It is far from impressive inside but we were hungry, tired and the young lady serving was cheerful so went for it. The food took ages but was very good and we're realy quite fussy. It's a burger and pizza type menu but our chorizo burgers were excellent as was my wife's barbeque chicken fillet and the chips were tge best we've had out in a long while. Clearly not micro food of many places.

The back bar is on the end of the town area and we called in during the day for a drink and came back in the evening for a meal..fantastic feed!! Hubby had Angus burger..best he has ever had..I had spicy chicken wrap..was amazing..and some music by Alex Clarke..he was superb...really enjoyed our night here.

We went there for lunch and it was very delicious! The barstaff was very friendly and nice :D We will coming back soon!

Popped in for a drink while on a mini break to Callandar. Great little place. Friendly staff, good prices. Enjoyed a few games of pool. Worth a visit!

Brilliant, must go and taste their home made food, heaven. I had a chilli con carni (delicious) one night. We also sampled the rhubarb crumble with custard which was superb. I would eat here again if in the area, cannot rate it highly enough. Dogs are allowed and our dog was pampered with fresh water, pats and cuddles. The staff are so very friendly and the bar well stocked.

First time in this bar .......the food is delicious my partner Gary and I had a meal the first night we were her .....friendly atmosphre and the food was nice and hot.

Had a night out here last night and was entertainment with great live music and chat with the regulars made to feel very welcome by the manager Gregg when we arrived definitely recommend karaoke / disco sat night live music friday nights and good jukebox and pool table

We have came here every day or night when we are visiting keswick one of the most comfortable cosy and friendliest pubs in keswick we love it

We visited the restaurant on a Tuesday evening. It was a very quiet evening. We ordered both the steak. We waited a little bitt longer than we are used too elsewhere, but it was worth waiting for it! We recieved the steak on a very hot platter... it was still cooking on the platter! The steak was good and served with fries and onionrings. I totally recommend it!

The place is easy. The staff is friendly and the food is good and cheap. We have been there Saturday night and there was karaoke

We had lunch here, very reasonably priced and good pub grub, my husband had the double Angus burger and I had scampi both served with chips and lovely fresh salad. Staff pleasant and friendly, we returned back for a drink in the evening too.

Great value food with a good choise of dishes. Service was very friendly and reasonably fast. The food was very nice. Only negative would be the toilets weren't very clean or well kept but otherwise would reccommend.
