The Crown Hotel in Stirling

We stopped by for a drink one afternoon after exploring. It was quiet. They serve food here and it looked quite nice. Lots of tables. Modern interior. Friendly staff.

Das Restaurant kann ich uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Viele Gerichte gibt es als halbe Portion, so dass sich eine Vorspeise oder ein Nachtisch dazu kombinieren läßt. Ich hatte Cullen Skink als Vorsuppe und Haggis, Neeps & Tattis als Hauptgang. Beide Gerichte waren sehr lecker und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist gut. Dazu kommt noch guter Service mit sehr zuvorkommender Bedienung. Wir würden jederzeit wieder hier essen. Klare 5 Punkte von mir.

Not recommended if your hungry or expecting it all to be home cooked food.Expensive for the size of portions, chips and scampi cooked from frozen,small fish. Fast food meals, wouldn’t class as restraunt meals. Servers were excellent at there job. Will walk past the door next time we are out for a meal.

Booked a for 2 nights and arrived around 17.00, went downstairs to the bar/diner for something to eat. The bar was tiny at the far end of the room and with 3 people standing at the bar it was difficult to order a drink, got our drinks and looking for somewhere to sit we were told that all the empty tables had been reserved for evening meals (not by "hotel" guests). We were told there was a table at the back we could use until 18.00 which is when diners would start arriving, the table was about 60cm square and had no chairs so I took 2 chairs from a table next to us. We were again reminded we had to be gone by 18.00 and the chairs put back, my wife asked if she could order something to eat and was told orders could not be taken even though an order had already been placed by someone else. 10 minutes later my wife was told an order "could " be placed but we still had to move for 18.00. The point of this review is to remind staff of this "hotel" that if you claim to be a "hotel" then "hotel" guests should take priority and not be made to feel like an inconvenience. No seats at the bar area and no seats for meals for paying guests is a disgrace and something I have never experienced in the many hotels I have stayed in. Needless to say, not another penny of my cash was spent in this "hotel".

While visiting callender we decided to take in somewhere to eat and decided on here. Although it was pretty empty when we entered it was still a pleasant atmosphere and within 15 mins had filled up quite a bit. The staff were very attentive and drinks came promptly as were orders for food taken the same swift way. I had the fresh fish and chips with peas the fish was was really white and fresh the batter was done just right and the chips and peas complimented the fish perfectly. The wife had scampi and she expressed the same regarding freshness and taste of the food. Good place to have a bite to eat to relax a while and take in the atmosphere

The person who waited on us should find a new career; she obviously didn’t want to be there. Scotland is such a friendly country, it’s unusual to encounter an attitude like hers. The food was mediocre at best. My advice is go elsewhere.

Hotel is located on the main street just a few steps away from the various pubs and restaurants. Despite being on the Main Street the bedroom had no traffic noise. My room was perhaps a bit on the small size but was very nicely decorated, was very comfortable, and had absolutely everything you might need for a short stay. There was also a complimentary continental breakfast (didn’t expect that) and the option of a full breakfast at a discounted price from a neighbouring hotel. We ate in the hotels restaurant while there and both enjoyed what we had. I would definitely recommend this hotel which was very good value for money.

We visit The Crown every year and it never disappoints. The food was excellent and the welcome even better. They look after your dog so well - fresh water as soon as you arrive. Attentive, pleasant and friendly staff and superb food. Would recommend to anyone

Bank holiday Monday so as expected the town was busy,the pub itself had people waiting to come in for a table,had a child with us who was hungry so had a 30 minute wait for food order to be taken but we decided to wait and have a drink,staff on duty were very friendly and were doing there best to inform customers of the wait some didn’t want to wait so left,food arrived and the macaroni was tasteless no salad as a side garnish so looked dull,steak pie completely tasteless,I had the fish but was upset there was no mushy peas but the fish itself was delicious,so I had the better meal

Stopped for lunch on a day out, and was recommended this place by the tour guide. Went in had a couple of pints and lunch. Cullen Skink soup was excellent to start, then had Haggis. First time having that (superb 😋) and a chocolate brownie to finish (delightful)

It’s had a makeover since we were last in a few years ago, and it’s a lot nicer for it. The last time we were in dogs were allowed, we feared they may not be this time around as it’s so much nicer. Fear not, the dog was allowed, the place was warm and welcoming and the staff were lovely. The food? The food was great traditional pub food that was very tasty and was very good value for money.

Stayed for a week for a solo getaway. Room was perfect; clean with all the amenities you'd expect (tea and coffee, shampoo and soap). Self service breakfast was great, especially for no extra charge. Food was lovely . We were staying in an air b&b along the road. We ate at The Crown 2 nights in a row. Loved that they did half portions for £8.00 and the portions were still generous. Had the steak pie , the curry and the haddock and chips. All delicious. Deserts to die for. The highlight was our waitress. Fab service and such a lovely girl. Would def recommend.

Typical Scottish pub restaurant. Fairly large seating and bright inside. Reasonably priced fairly standard meals. Had dinner there on our last night in Callandar. Would have probably given a better rating but for my fish and chips. The batter was too oily and the fish had quite a few small bones in it. The fries were nice and crunchy to the end though!!! My wife's Sea Bass dish was good.

Visiting for the fifth time. Not disappointed. Food was delicious and well presented. Staff were lovely. Will be returning next year.

STAYED FOR 2 NIGHTS. NOS 2 ROOM A BIT SMALLISH BUT COMFORTABLE. SHOWER AND BATHROOM V/G. THE LADY MAID WAS FANTAAASTIC. SO HELPFUL AND A BRILL ATTITUDE. GOT THE HEATING PROBLEM FIXED PROMPTLY. GREAT LOCATION AND WOULD DEFINITELY GO BACK.

Had a delicious 2 course lunch, freshly cooked and served by cheerful friendly staff. They serve half-portion main courses, which is great. Highly recommended and will happily return, as every plate of food we saw being served to other diners also looked so good!

Hotel room itself and food in the bar was really good. BUT the noise from the bar in the evening as they had a band on from 9pm to 12.30am was ridiculously loud. Our room was vibrating as we were directly over the bar area. We couldn't even hear our TV. We booked through Booking.Com and we had no idea that they would be having a band on. We were looking forward to a quiet early night as we had an early start and that was not possible. I'm sure it would be a perfect place to stay during the week but definitely not of a weekend. Totally ruined our evening. AVOID at all costs if you want a quiet stay.

Have tried several eateries in Callander and had a meal in the Crown last night and so glad we did. The food was delicious and well presented and the staff were very attentive. It was busy and would advise to make a prior booking. They also recommended the Abbotsford hotel (sister hotel) where we went for breakfast this morning. Newly opened and breakfast was delicious. Staff very friendly in both hotels.

Callander isn’t currently heaving with restaurants open in the evening so we decided to try The Crown. The menu is unremarkable: as in many tourist towns, you’ll struggle to find an alternative to chips with your choice. However, our dishes were well cooked and tasty. The portions were just right. We had excellent service from Hazel, who was a natural at welcoming you warmly and making you feel valued. I enjoyed my Scottish beer, Jarl by Fyne Ales, though it had passed through the same system for serving the keg beers and was a little colder than I would have liked. The Crown was pretty busy so I recommend booking. Give it a try!

Visited for a meal while staying at the holiday park and so glad we did. Great food and service. The steak pie was delicous. Our four legged friend also enjoyed a bowl of water and sone dog biscuits.

The vegan burger was just a pattie inbetween two breads with no toppings or greens. Not tasty. A balming 30 degrees celcius. Go to the Waverley instead.

My partner, Simone, and I went to The Crown Hotel in Callander on Monday 17 July 23 for a lunch and we were very impressed! The two ladies working behind the bar and who served our meal were friendly, polite and very efficient. We were particularly touched by them bringing a bowl of water and dog biscuits for our dog! Buddy loved that! Our meal was excellent; Simone had a chicken curry and I chose a sirloin steak and both were cooked to perfection! We then completed the meal by having the most perfect sticky toffee pudding we have ever tasted! I spoke to a man who I assumed to be the Manager and found he came from the Borders, as we do, and I thanked him for their service.
