Food was decent though the cheesecake was really good. The outdoor views are amazing along with the site however £5.45 for a pint was just a rip off and there were not enough staff to cater for the wedding we had going on however not blaming any staff as they were all lovely people just needed more staff was all.

Called in for a for a drink late afternoon. Lovely little place with good beer on tap, serving many different palettes. The bar was tended by a fabulous lady who ensured our time spent here was truly enjoyable and even recommended her favourite local restaurant.. would definitely return!

Worst cafe experience I’ve ever had due to the rude and hostile manageress. While discussing the extortionate price of an item one of the other staff members started sniggering. There are ways to be empathetic to customers and appreciate their views without being rude and shutting them down. She told me to leave and write a review. Two slices of standard white bread and butter is £4.95 whether or not you have jam/marmalade. I actually left this cafe crying in front of my young daughter with the toast buttered and shoved in a box. I appreciate prices, but you should be allowed to disagree and discuss how much something is worth without being made to feel like you’re doing something wrong. Although she is the manger she said she doesn’t set the prices and wouldn’t give me the name of who does. Obviously avoiding this place from now on.

The Rising Sun is under new ownership and I’m pleased to see it seems on the way back to its former glory. The pub is undergoing some much needed renovations. We had a really good meal there and very enjoyable evening, the menu isn’t huge but what was on offer cooked well and very good quality. All washed down with an equally good bottle of Malbec.

I’ve never written a review before, but here I am. We had a Sunday roast lunch booked for 3:30pm, we walked in and the place had a strange vibe to it as some tables were empty with plates etc still on, few tables busy but no one eating - and bar staff just polishing glasses. Lady behind the bar pointed to our table reluctantly after looking through the list of bookings, we then sat down. We stayed sat down for 15/20 minutes and no one had come over to clean it, give us a menu, or even ask us if we’d like a drink. At this point, I stood up and went to the bar, I explained the situation to the lady behind the bar who was what I’d describe as unhelpful and rude. She shrugged her shoulders, never apologised, suggested we move table and I wait for the manager. This lack of attentiveness and care really shone a bad light on this place for me as a new customer. We left the pub after no sign of a manager or further care, only to search the city looking for a roast somewhere else. I will never be returning.

The staff are friendly & helpful while the menu is extensive. The pasta dish that I had was delicious & my friend enjoyed her chicken meal which was on the specials board. We wanted to include a tip but the restaurant hasn't set up the card machine to accept extras- strange!

My husband, son and I stayed at the Hunters Rest Inn for 2 nights in 3 rooms to attend a family wedding at nearby Priston Mill. We could not fault the Inn which is a beautifully updated and maintained ancient building with warm, comfortable spotless rooms with attractive furnishings, immaculate bedding and towels and beautiful views from the bedrooms rooms, 2 of which had large balconies. Every single member of staff was welcoming, friendly and helpful - the chef even came from the kitchen to talk with my husband about the food which he had prepared especially for him as he has gluten intolerance and other dietary requirements. We couldn't fault the place and have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending the Inn as a place to stay. We were even lucky enough to view a perfect 'Hunters Moon' from our bedroom windows! We would like to return for a longer stay and to do some of the many walks in the surrounding countryside.
