Lovely side street, we had the raspberry and white chocolate croissants they were fabulous, coffee and hot chocolate was good too. So nice we returned on our departure day especially to pick up some freshly made sourdough and rosemary focaccia loaves.

I had seen good reviews so I thought I’d check it out but the environment was awful and there was this older guy who was bullying, for lack of a better word, some of his employees which made my experience very uncomfortable.. the coffee wasn’t bad but the atmosphere was really awkward as this employee was there all of the three times I went and was quite passive aggressive to his younger female employees. The pastries were nice but I don’t recommend to those who don’t want to support a business that doesn’t care for their employees

There are two Bertinet Bakeries in Bath – one we came across by mistake which had the most lush smells emanating from it and was hosting a bakery workshop. It’s actually called the Bertinet Kitchen, taking it’s name from Mr Bertinet who invented his own type of pastry. We stayed for a while and talked to the manager – and small world that it is, found out that her cousin had worked for me a few years ago in Plymouth! She kindly told us about the bakery selling products in the city centre and we took off for there. We found it near Milsom Street, just off the Pulteney Bridge. Oh the food was heavenly, we bought some savouries and some sweet goods (almond croissants to die for), the pastry - the famous Bertinet pastry – is so different to anything else we have ever eaten and it was gorgeous. It’s worth spending that little bit extra just to say you’ve eaten a Bertinet pie!

Great bakery in the laneways of Bath. Non touristy and reasonable prices. Visited multiple times and excellent almond croissants and brownies!

I went here for a brownie and a cinnamon pastry. I think their pastries are their best seller as the brownie was just ok. I had a brownie here last year and I think it was better. All in all, definitely worth a visit for a morning pastry.

I don't write bad reviews but, I feel as if I have to make an exception here. I ordered a cappuccino with skimmed milk and a cappuccino with full fat milk. Our server brought over our drinks to the table, not in cups as I expected but, vegware cups, a cappuccino and a tea! Our food I ordered, a toasted cheese and mushroom sandwich, arrived and the bread was soft in the middle and hard at the edge. Almost as if the bread was stale. I couldn't even bite the crust it was so hard and inedible. The brioche roll filled with cheese, Parma ham and sundried tomatoes was a little better. The roll was very dry and awful but the little filling was tasty although the tomatoes looked sun blushed rather than sundried. Could only just about eat the bottom of the roll but not the dry top. The vault walls within the cafe are nice but, with a little thought on products and service, the bread loaves may be great but, preparation and leaving exposed too long can ruin even the best, this could have potential as it is in a prime location.

Newly arrived by train & hungry, I headed straight to the Bertinet Bakery NEAR the railway station. Time was around 13:00 and there were very few pastries exposed without cover. I ordered a Cinnamon roll and coffee. The cinnamon roll was Not Baked through! When I pointed it out to a woman in charge, her response was "we can not cut every pastry through to see if it is baked properly. I am sorry madam." (so I had to leave the wet bits on my plate). In a restaurant that evening they served "Bertinet" bread with great ceremony. The crust & the bread were very soft & the taste bland. It did not taste of sourdough despite the claim that it was sourdough.

Very nice little bakery with attached cafe close to Bath Spa Railway Station. I had a fabulous Tuscan style bean soup with rosemary focaccia bread which was delicious. Service was friendly & efficient. My only criticism would be that the inside seating area is very small so there is not a lot of room on wet days. Otherwise I would happily eat here again. Rest of the menu looked great with some good veggie choices.

Whenever we're travelling by train, we like to stop in here on our way to the station and buy a mushroom croque to take home for our supper. It's huge - one is plenty for 2 people. And yummy. This time we had a couple of helpful, chirpy young servers.

Stone cold pastries and luke warm, weak coffee, in fact so bad that we had to stop somewhere else as soon as we left for what my husband called a proper coffee. The tables were dirty and the place generally untidy and scruffy, it smacks of a business that is not much cared for. Such a shame, I would expect better from Richard Bertinet.

Great breads selections, and very tasty French pastries. Would have preferred my pastries a little warm and not room temperature, as they were, but they probably sell out pretty fast at opening time. They have other delicious treats to go as well. Well worth a visit.

This bakery is cute and close to the train station in Bath. The overall dining experience is nice but the food is variable. I had something like a Croque Monsieur with cheese that was nearly inedible...sour, bitter and gooey...ehhh. The other items were OK. So... this is an OK stop but you'll need to be picky.

I know the Bertinet group quite well have been to the cookery school many times, made and tasted their many delights. Visited this cafe and was equally please and disappointed. The quaility of food on offer was great, the sausage roll and the toasted cheese and mushroom sandwich a delight. Service was slow, not a great deal of customers and 3 staff front of house but the cappachino was no more than blood temperature. How can you make such a poor, cold coffee? Such a letdown, clearly needs better management and training.

Ordered tea/coffee and a pastry each here and was left feeling disappointed. The pastries were both dry and seemed to have been left out to go stale. Overall the place is superficially nice, but poor quality food and cobwebs etc in corners suggests it's not cleaned very well. Avoid, and go somewhere where the quality is better.

Nice café between the bus station and the railway station, around the plaza with about half a dozen restaurants. There is another Bertinet Bakery tucked away by the Roman baths, somewhere. (The street plan of Bath is a little chaotic)

Came here after looking for somewhere after stepping off the train, as it was mid afternoon we were looking for something light. Had always walked passed this place before, but glad we popped in. Reasonably priced coffees, teas and juices, with a good selection of cake and light bites. Chose the cheese and ham toasty...it was as they say 'gert lush'. I'd say this place is definitely worth a nose.

We went in to grab a quick bite to eat, 2 very nice sausage rolls and 2 drinks, fairly reasonable price. Although the food was nice and it looked like a lovely little bakery, every table was dirty... considering we were the only 2 customers in the place and there were 4 members of staff! Although the staff were friendly they spent the time we were there discussing an incident that had earlier taken place with another customer, this was something to discuss after close of business and they could have spent the time clearing the pile of boxes that obstructed the walk way!

Ah, Bertinet's , home to so many good ways to be bad. I am addicted to the Almond Croissants - get them while they are hot with an expresso. It's true, you get what you pay for in life so if your going to have a pastry have the best you can.

Bertinets' coffee is easy to recognise due to its characteristic and amazing flavour. Taking into account the price( average for bath) of the coffee is my fav in town. Even more, sweets and pastries are delicious. Specially the almond croissant and the brownie. They do also marvellous bread. The spelt one is really good. They have two locals, one in the city centre and the other next to the station.

Popped in here for a quick snack and found myself waiting a while to be served. Having then picked a lovely snack, I was not asked wether I wanted the bread warmed up. As if that wasn't enough the card machine broke and the staff made me wait 15 min to then tell me to get cash out and come back. In which time they could have taken the curtesy to warm up my bread. Having then returned to the waiters serving others and having to push through to complete my transaction. Quick snack it was not...Quality of the bread was average, slightly too greasy if you ask me. The only positive outcome of my terribly unquick pop in to this place was the quite delicious browny, if only the service and the bread had lived up to the same standard...Might one day risk to give it another chance, but I would have to admit not on top of my lists of bakery's so far.

I'm a frequent visitor to bristol airport, as my partner travels for work, so I'm often there to wait for his flights to come in. Unfortunately, there are very few options for anywhere to sit while waiting, other than cafe ritazza. Because of this, the cafe area is always busy, and all the regular/normal seating is always taken, so I have to try get my 50+yo arthritic, short arse up one one of their many Eiffel tower height stools, and if that's not hard enough, the darn things also swivel! No wonder all the other seating is always taken, and all these 'make yourself look like an ungainly idiot' seats are always free in huge numbers. Please please please cafe ritazza, rethink your seating options. Not everyone is an 8ft tall gymnasts.

I’m a travelling Australian and got excited about some home-style food but this was so bad. The rice clumped together like it was days old, the kale was discoloured and the serving size was pitiful. Could have made something much better myself for far less than the £15 I paid for this and a mediocre chai. Service wasn’t even friendly. I’m only giving it 2 stars because I had a juice there a few days ago and it was pretty decent - otherwise it would have been a one. And - on the plus side it didn’t taste terrible but the rice was a bit suss.
