I'm surprised that there wasn't a highway man behind the bar as bar prices was daylight robbery. £18 for a pint of lager and small bottle of prosecco. Even the bar man thought it was dear, I've never been charged £11 for prosecco. It's a simple pub at the end of day! Then, the bar staff hound you to leave minutes after last orders, there are far better pubs in Bath, with fairer bar prices.

We enjoyed our visit to Bath but the food… was blah. Except here at the Crystal Palace which we visited twice. By far the best restaurant we tried in Bath. My wife has some dietary limitations and they were very helpful preparing her food. What I had was very tasty, very well prepared. Their beer selection was good too. Two of the best meals we had in England on this trip.

The Crystal Palace was recommended as a good pub and we were not disappointed. There was an extensive menu and we had Thai chicken curry and a salmon dish, both of which were very tasty. We ordered a bottle of wine but when we came to pay was told we only need to pay for 2 large glasses as it was a special Wednesday night offer! Amazing! There was a great atmosphere with people coming and gong but not too noisy. Would recommend.

We have been popping in here, most years, for the past 15 years and I have to say even I was surprised at the change. We normally sit out the back which is all under cover but opted to eat in the restaurant this time and we were pleasantly surprised. Rhe decor was really tasteful with a definite French theme and the menu , although not particularly extensive, had a good variety. The atmosphere was really nice, a mix of couples, families and a wife range in age demographic too. The food arrived hot and excellently presented and we really enjoyed it. The lamb faggots were divine. If I was to have a slight criticism, it would be that the service was a little slow, but it was a Tuesday night and they were full and in some ways its better than being mithered constantly and it did not spoil the evening at all as we were not in a rush.

We went here for dinner based on many locals recommendations. It was absolutely fantastic! The dining room was decorated in a cozy traditional style yet felt very new and updated. The food is more on the traditional side and so well done. We had the Sheppard's pie, fish and chips and onion rings. Everything was delicious and those onion rings were the best onion rings I've ever had. The fry on them was light as air and crispy and golden. This kitchen is on point and serving something special. Traditional English pub food done very well with quality ingredients. We were very happy dinner guests. The locals recommendations were a testament of how adored and consistent this restaurant has proven to be. The vibe was so fun and welcoming that we made friends with the diners at the next table and their adorable dog Herbie!! This restaurant is a must in Bath!

Lovely big busy pub. Food looked really good but it wasn't cheap. We had two pints of asahi which cost almost £15. I know you expect to pay more as it isn't a very common lager, so it was a nice treat. But it was still a lot of money for one drink. The roast dinners being served looked amazing and staff were friendly. So definitely a place worth visiting in Bath.

We waited for 15 minutes before we went inside and asked if we were supposed to order inside. Then we were informed that no, our waitress would be coming to our table to take our order. But our waitress was having a jolly old conversation with some other patrons. It must have been an exhilarating conversation because they were exchanging phones and showing each other photos and having a grand time. So after waiting a total of 30 minutes with no service we decided to try our luck elsewhere. If you like sitting and waiting, this is the place for you. If you like to eat and drink you might want to consider another establishment.

Went here twice during our stay in Bath, once for "Wine Wednesday" and dinner, and once just for drinks. Wine Wednesday is a lovely deal where you get the entire bottle for the cost of two glasses. They have a very good Spanish red, very nice, so we enjoyed that immensely. Ordering dinner is interesting, as you order and pay at the bar, then you're given a number which you put on your table, and the server then later finds you. The ambiance is very nice, you can eat inside or outside on the patio which is well shaded by several massive tent-like umbrellas. We had the tea and hops smoked fishcake, the Caesar salad with chicken and the fish and chips. This happens but I feel I must report to the TA community, that there was a piece of narrow-ish flexible wire, about 2 inches in length, under the fish, on the bottom of the plate. We surmise that it was part of the packaging of the fish?? No actual clue, but there it was. We could easily have ingested it, broken a tooth, all sorts of problems......but luckily we caught it and went directly back to the bar to report it. The chef happened to be there and was very concerned, appropriately so, and came back to the table to look at it - we were offered to have the meal comped but we said no, no - we only wanted the chef to be aware as someone behind the scenes was not doing their due diligence whilst preparing the meal. As I said, this happens in kitchens - workers are moving fast to get orders out, and we also are aware that it's hard to get and keep staff these days. It's a word to the wise to any consumer, that this can happen - so be careful what you're chomping down on, before you chomp!

Upon entering this illustrious establishment, one is greeted by an ambiance so splendid, it would make even the grandest of ballrooms blush with envy. The staff, oh the staff! Courteous and attentive, they cater to one's every whim with the alacrity of a well-trained squire. One almost expects them to break into a bow or curtsy upon each request, such is their dedication to service. As for the fare, the culinary offerings at the Crystal Palace are nothing short of a royal feast. The wine list is as extensive as the royal lineage, and the selection of local ales is a veritable cornucopia of hoppy delights. Each sip of the amber nectar brought forth visions of merry revelry and festive banquets, evoking the spirit of bygone eras when merriment was the order of the day. In conclusion, the Crystal Palace is a sanctuary of indulgence and mirth, a place where one can revel in the finer things in life whilst basking in an atmosphere of grandeur. It is with the utmost sincerity that I bestow upon this establishment the highest of accolades and a decree of perpetual patronage. Long may it reign as the jewel of Bath’s social scene!

I’ve never written a review before, but here I am. We had a Sunday roast lunch booked for 3:30pm, we walked in and the place had a strange vibe to it as some tables were empty with plates etc still on, few tables busy but no one eating - and bar staff just polishing glasses. Lady behind the bar pointed to our table reluctantly after looking through the list of bookings, we then sat down. We stayed sat down for 15/20 minutes and no one had come over to clean it, give us a menu, or even ask us if we’d like a drink. At this point, I stood up and went to the bar, I explained the situation to the lady behind the bar who was what I’d describe as unhelpful and rude. She shrugged her shoulders, never apologised, suggested we move table and I wait for the manager. This lack of attentiveness and care really shone a bad light on this place for me as a new customer. We left the pub after no sign of a manager or further care, only to search the city looking for a roast somewhere else. I will never be returning.

Worst cafe experience I’ve ever had due to the rude and hostile manageress. While discussing the extortionate price of an item one of the other staff members started sniggering. There are ways to be empathetic to customers and appreciate their views without being rude and shutting them down. She told me to leave and write a review. Two slices of standard white bread and butter is £4.95 whether or not you have jam/marmalade. I actually left this cafe crying in front of my young daughter with the toast buttered and shoved in a box. I appreciate prices, but you should be allowed to disagree and discuss how much something is worth without being made to feel like you’re doing something wrong. Although she is the manger she said she doesn’t set the prices and wouldn’t give me the name of who does. Obviously avoiding this place from now on.
