I took my elderly father to Waitrose cafe in Hythe, Kent for a light lunch. Not good. The cutlery in the self serve drawer was not clean, wet and actually had previous food smears on it. I mentioned this to the staff member filling it while I was trying to find clean cutlery for my father and myself. She continued adding the mucky cutlery wiping it with her thumb which was not impressive. I’m sure it’s no coincidence that even though we live apart, my father and I both have painful stomach upsets and diarrhoea. All the cutlery needed to be re washed or sterilised in boiling water. I wonder if the general hygiene of this kitchen and cafe is observed and taken seriously enough as it didn’t appear to be. I don’t know how they/Waitrose get away with it. Just to say, the fleeting menu is not possible for the elderly to easily read. My ham and cheese toasty was with rubbery white bread, barely toasted with very little filling. We won’t bother to visit again.

Beautiful location, great coffee and an array of homemade cakes. The carrot cake was one of the best I've ever tasted. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Dairy alternative milks available vegan cakes too. The cafe sits right next to the lake where you can sit and watch the variety of bird life and the numerous dragonflies flying around this aptly named cafe. Take a walk around the lakes too such a peaceful area the car park isn't huge but seemed to accommodate visitors well enough. If you're a cyclist a friendly and warm welcome awaits with room to leave bikes safely and enjoy a well deserved coffee. Highly recommend this little oasis.

We went to this restaurant, now Taste of Vitality, as the chef had a great reputation for Indian food. The menu was fabulous however one hour later we were still waiting for our food. Not a poppadoms in sight! We managed to drink our bottle of wine. People before us were just about to leave as they had to wait an hour for their food and we’re over charged. We were eventually served with food that was not ours and they took it back to take to the other party. There were only 3 tables occupied in the restaurant! We paid for our wine and left.

12:45 13/2/2025 Went here with the dream of a lovely cheese, onion and salad cream baguette. In my mind ive got coming a half baguette, thick cheddar cheese, rings of onion and a good dollop of salad cream. In reality I got a small baguette, similar size to a home bake one, probably smaller, the thinnest cheese known to man and a sprinkle of onion. Butter was on one side only and salad cream I would have preferred more. All this for the princely sum of £7.25 I have been ripped off and I wont go back, nor would I recommend to anybody. Take this as a warning. Don't bother. Every business needs repeat customers and this is blatant over-charging and a way to lose customers.

Booked a table for 10 of us this morning @9:30 to celebrate my birthday, with a family breakfast. Ordered drinks & breakfasts. Drinks came as expected, but we waited an hour & a half for our breakfasts, that were only baps, croissants, beans on toast etc. A cycling group came in after us & got theirs fairly promptly. We were told they pre ordered. The 4 little ones with us were very upset as they were hungry. When after an hour I checked our order not forgotten, was told they were very busy. Yes it was busy, but if pre order would have helped, it would have been good to tell us when we booked, as that wouldn’t have been a problem. Secondly, it was busy by the time our food arrived, but not when we got there & placed our order. Kitchen system/ staff numbers need to be addressed. I hope this can be seen as constructive criticism, as it’s a lovely venue.

We went to the auction house to celebrate my dad and my birthday for a family lunch after enjoying it a while back. However we were really disappointed. When we arrived there were only 2 other tables there so the atmosphere was a bit dead and it was chilly. We all had roast dinner 3 of us the beef and one of us the pork. The pork was undercooked and tough and chewy, we made a complaint and the waiter took it back and the chef offered to re cook it. Unfortunately it was no better. The beef wasn’t very well cooked either, it was quite chewy and there wasn’t much of it. The vegetables were.. ok. So many potatoes and carrots, red cabbage (too much spice) and cauliflower cheese was nice enough. The waiter was really great and attentive and friendly and he took the pork off the bill for us which was appreciated. Sadly I would not recommend and I’m not sure what’s happened to this place, such a shame.

It was a shame that the cafe is now not serving the food it used to. There are no packaged sandwiches and sausage rolls etc none of which seemed appealing. I chose to come to the cafe today to mark the anniversary of my. Mums death and enjoy lunch. I ended up going elsewhere for food. The staff were very friendly and coffee was good but I do hope the cafe returns to preparing some of its own food. Even the cake selection was very limited.

They took my order, they took my money, then they took the piss. My order is now nearly an hour late. Do not tip the delivery driver via the app, give them cash I'd they are on time. Maybe that way they will stop working for this sandwich shop. To be honest, it's partially my fault because I know from attending this butty bar in person that the staff are incredibly slow movers.

if i could give zero stars i would. took 20 minutes to get my order and i was the only person waiting. the staff were just walking round in circles not a clue what they were doing. genuinely the worst experience ive ever had, wouldn’t recommend. walking over to the one in the city centre and walking back would be 10 minutes quicker than ordering here. dont bother with this place. tragic!

Horrible day weather wise which ruined the chance to see the planes taking off and landing, but food wise had brunch, which was very tasty and the mint chocolate hot chocolate in particular was very good. Got very busy about 11am on a Friday. Good menu choices and staff very friendly.

Understaffed for the time of year so the queue was huge. Seats were dirty so we asked for a cloth and the lady gave us a smelly damp dish cloth, I told her I couldn't use this and she told me to find another table to sit at. Coffee was as Costa is, always really good, esp the gingerbread special Christmas one.
