Dreadful Date night Drink: A rather disappointing treatment by the waitress who was rather rude with absolutely no rationale!

This establishment is ill-equipped to accommodate parties of four or more. Our experience with a table of 14 was disorganised from the outset, as our reserved table was not prepared, necessitating the combination of two tables. The drinks took an excessive amount of time to arrive, and ordering at the bar was not an option. The beer had an unpleasant taste, suggesting that the pipes required maintenance. While some members of our group received their meals, others were left waiting for over an hour. The cocktail preparation was also problematic, with incorrect drinks being served. Although the waiting staff appeared to be struggling without adequate support, the overall service was lacking. In comparison, 4 London Road offers a far superior experience, and I will not be returning to this venue. Not happy

I was particularly looking forward to eating at this place as I hadn’t had tapas for a long time; unfortunately, the wait will have to continue. The dishes are priced around the £10 mark and were all pretty underwhelming. Service was good and place seems to be popular but everyone left hungry and disappointed.

Lovely food and generous portions, friendly service and a great place to celebrate our daughter's GCSE results. This was our second visit and both were excellent. Thank you

Great place for a family gathering. We ate here last Sunday and had a great time! We were well looked after without feeling we were being too closely watched by the serving team and the place had a really relaxed vibe. The new menu had plenty to choose from and the food we had was tasty, full of flavour and well presented. The drinks menu had a great range of cocktails without being overwhelming and the beer was well kept (so I am told). Altogether, we had a really enjoyable evening and will definitely go back!

Heard some positives and negatives about this place since it opened so was keen to finally try it. The interior is beautiful and created a great vibe however, our visit was severely let down by the service and menu. When ordering drinks we were told they can’t do anything with cream, that’s fine, not a massive deal. Then following that they couldn’t do one of the main dishes we wanted and didn’t have two other drinks we asked for. I will say the food is excellent, but surely update the menu if you can’t supply half the food/drinks on it. The staff were also extremely inattentive and took quite a few attempts at awkward eye contact for them to notice we were waiting on them. To be honest, we couldn’t wait to leave after the experience which is a real shame. I think this place could be really nice if the issues are ironed out.

A good place that could be excellent, came with a group of friends as popped in previously for a drink and caught a little of the singer so wanted to return and try the food and enjoy then music. Food and service was good just a shame that they were seeming to pack away early and wanting to close as we would have stayed longer. A fabulous singer , Just a shame the volume had to be low we asked about it going up but she explained she’d been asked to turn it down as there were two people sat in front of her speaker. Maybe consider moving that table as it did seem to effect the atmosphere. All in all a good visit and would return, if you advertise a closing time it would great to stick to this.

Fantastic evening at The Auction House last night. Live entertainment - a young singer belting out some tunes! What a voice! Created a great atmosphere. We were superbly looked after by two waitresses, very attentive, didn’t have to wait to be served. Tapas was delicious, arrived very quickly. Everything cooked to perfection. Couldn’t fault a thing, would definitely recommend.

What a wonderful find! I asked my friends who live in the area to take me out to a good pub meal. They suggested The Temple Inn. They had been previously and had the Hungarian Waldorf Salad and the Goulash and raved about it. Oh my gosh. From the warm and friendly welcome to the cosy village pub vibe, a warm heartening fire crackling nicely to chase the winter chills away, this pub is a sure thing. The food though, that’s what sets this pub apart!! It’s so good. The pub has a Hungarian family running it and the influence is found throughout the menu and in the food. Classic pub grub is definitely all there, including the ubiquitous Steak and Ale pie, which I had. The meat was spiced perfectly, the gravy was so delicious and the mash melted in my mouth. The vegetables were steamed for clean flavours and still had a healthy bite to them. My friends had the carrot soup as main and roast lamb. Even though it wasn’t on the menu I asked for Garlic Bread which the team happily provided. It was so fresh and delicious. I have the feeling the make their own bread - but cannot confirm this. Both were very tasty and well prepared. My Pie was the winner though. Dora and Agnes are charming hosts and I absolutely would make a detour to stop and eat here again. (In fact it was so good we all went back the next day for lunch!!!!)

Start on a good note, the cafe is very clean, lovely comfy seats , the staff polite and friendly. Now the not so good, both had the full english, we have never seen so much grease on a plate, the hashbrowns were enabled as oozing grease and very pale sausage, We asked for sausage to be cooked more , a lady came over with a clip board and pointed out they had been checked. She said she would replace the whole breakfast, Very kind we thought, unfortunately the second breakfast was not much better, but sausage was a little more brown. Not sure how the cook can get so much grease on the plate and hashbrowns dripping in fat . While I love seeing dogs welcome in a cafe I do think the staff need to make folks aware that dogs should be kept quiet as at times you couldn't hear yourself think with one of the dogs barking. Unfortunately this cafe is not for us and feel we have been generous in giving 3 stars .

Sunday Lunch 2:30 and they didn’t have the following:- - Cocktail - Lamb Roast - Turkey Roast He the only roast left on the menu Beef. Arrived beef, advertised as served pink and served with cauliflower cheese, came with no cauliflower cheese and 5mm slab of tough burnt beef. Gravy was served later and the tap water was warm and not very nice. Staff were very apologetic, atmosphere could have been good if meal matched decor. Not the pleasant Sunday meal I promised my wife

Update Jan 2020: Despite there being 4 members of staff behind the counter doing nothing, table hadn't been cleaned and was covered in cake crumbs. Ordered a latte and surprise, surprise it was lukewarm and was sent back. Friend then arrived and ordered two more coffees and once again they were served lukewarm. This is pretty basic stuff and really should be sorted by now. Update Nov 2023: Wow, what a transformation! A change of management/staff? Anyway, Cafe 1759 is vastly improved. Good food, good (hot!) coffee, great service. Just needs some comfier seating. Recommended. Update May 2024. Oh dear. Things have taken a down turn again. Out of coffee!!! Very limited menu as they were also out of most things on the menu. Couldn't someone nip to Lidl? Plus couldn't order an alternative from the breakfast menu as it was past 11:30! Won't be returning any time soon.
