Caffe Nero - Alton in East Hampshire

Great staff and great location for families and friends to meet up for a coffee and a chant and okay hot chocolate and 🍰 nice company

You can use internet for free and the Brazilian Coffee is amazing! 😁

I used to love stopping in for a coffee and snack but my last visit was so disappointing. The toilets were not clean, tables dirty and as I looked around it was hard to find a seat that wasn't soiled or shabby. The staff were lovely but over worked and obviously only have time to make coffee. Sad to say that I won't be visiting again.Its not the staffs fault,money needs to be spent on more staff and updating the coffee shop. Maybe neros should remember there are other coffee shops in Alton which are a nicer environment to sit in.

Disappointing and frustrating experience due to very slow service. One member of staff seemed to be taking a break over busiest period of lunch, so only 2 staff one of whom was a trainee. More annoying they prioritised large Deliveroo order over queue of customers in the shop. Coffee not good but cheese toastie was good. Trainee needs more training with his interpersonal skills with customers.

This has been my favourite coffee shop for years..great coffee..lovely staff... but lately not so good... The fridge for cakes has been broken for ages... so no cakes....also toilets out of order ...the shop just seems neglected. Which is very sad as we usually have coffee there a few times a week.

Awful everything. 3 people behind the till and they were just chatting. I had to ask after 5 mins of waiting there to actually be served… with regrets she made us a coffee and tea. She thought it would be okay to put a tea bag in a large coffee cup. No spoon no sugar no saucer. I had to ask for a tea pot which she raised her eyebrows too. So rude and very bad attitude… my friend then asked if she could take a seat and could she bring it over she said no just wait… the cafe has 3 people sat in so they were not busy and just wanted to chat. Super disappointed and very shocked at the lady’s behaviour… not to mention the filthy toilets

The cappuccinos are very good. The place is very tired and not overly clean, hence 3 stars.

Atmosphere was good, only one server so could have been quicker. Slight queue. Had a toasty.

Can’t understand why this place is sooooo slow loads of staff watching each other, slow service, extra slow cleaning and clearing, mumbling staff, grotty interior. Coffee meh…. Not loving it

Ordered two pistachio ice lattes, when we received them they didn’t have any syrup and the coffee beans were burnt, we asked for syrup as we thought this may help the situation, When asking the barista she seemed personally offended with a screw face and shoulder shrug however she did try and resolve the situation but unfortunately it tasted worse. We Felt to embarrassed to go in and complain for the second time as there was a que. Hopefully have better service if I come in again.

As always, Best cofee in town. Way better and tastier than Costa or Starbucks. Friendly staff and amazing atmosphere. Love it!

The coffee shop is filthy dusty everything needs a major clean . You can run your fingers around the edges and collect dust . Such a shame as staff lovely. Needs to change very off putting

I suffer from depression, the staff at Nero's in Alton are a breath of fresh air, so much so I make a point of dropping in for a coffee and a caramel shortbread for the experience. The lady with the blue hair and tattoos is just so alive, friendly and sincere she lifts my mood no matter what.

The staff now are brilliant Dan the manager is lovely so is Becky we all work at specsavers and love coming in now totally different vibe now .......

Usual Nero offer. Almost nothing (just a pre packed brownie) to eat / buy as a coeliac (gluten free) though; this very poor approach limits my score.

WiFi seriously needs looking at! Staff a great. Friendly and fun. Most of the time peaceful and calm.

We enjoy going to the Alton Hampshire branch of Neros. I love the fact that they have reading books there that you can sit and look through whilst enjoying your coffee and maybe a muffin!

Great toasties, excellent macchiato. Also the best ready made chicken salad sandwiches in town.

Nice coffee in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly service. Dogs are allowed accompanied by an adult unlike some of the other coffee shops in Alton

Coffee’s not bad and the food selection is decent. The experiences I have in this store are inconsistent for me to give more than 3 star. Sometimes the coffee tastes burnt or the paninis aren’t left in for long enough.

I came to Nero's after some disgusting customer service at Bottega dei sapori. Nero's had a lovely Barista working and great service was given. Highly recommended instead of Bottega dei sapori.

This was the first visit to a Nero and was disgusted when we pulled out the small table under the top table to find dirt, grime and crumbs from years gone by stuck to the table! Our first and last visit to such a grubby Nero!

It is always nice to walk in and see the staff in our Alton branch. They are enthusiastic, friendly and pride themselves on making the perfect cup. I'm always impressed how many orders they remember as people approach the counter.

Had a quick coffee here & staff were friendly and coffee was fine . What definitely needed attention were the customer toilets -although the toilet itself and sink were clean It looked as if nothing else had been cleaned in ages especially the floor which was really dirty . Needs sorting out .

I can confirm Caffè Nero Alton is dog friendly! There a little sign on the door and no one batted an eye lid when Freddie walked in! Good coffee too!

Popped into Alton as needed to do something but don’t usually stop but today fancied a hot choc so headed to Nero’s. A short queue but friendly staff which moved quickly but clearly popular with the locals as doing a decent trade. Hot choc was hot and nice, went for no cream. Plenty of cakes and pastries in the cabinet. Cafe was clean too.

Good Service, and great coffee.... Good selection of cakes and biscuits. Clean tables. Customer Toilet is also very clean

Thais is a nice coffee house with plenty of seating and good staff. We find it nice to sit in seating by the windows and watch the Alton activity.

Great place for a coffee break. Always fresh cakes and good sandwiches. Sometimes they let you have a taste of new cakes and the service is always good.

Nice comfy coffee place, delicious drinks and the best triple chocolate cheesecake ever. Free water available, plenty of room and tables aren’t too close together so no one listening in to conversations or becoming too loud to hear your own.

I went here recently and realised that Caffè Nero have quite a few low calorie food options which is great for someone who is being healthy but fancies a treat! Also, great coffee

Had a nice morning coffee with some delicious cake. The staff were very nice and the setting was very welcoming. Would recommend this coffee shop.

We went here again today for the first time in a year or so and it was as good as we remembered.

Friendly staff but place could do with a deep clean . Trays are really grubby looking - they should be thrown out . Tables the same- they don’t look clean even when they are !

Team looked uninterested and tired. They seemed distracted and not in a great frame of mind. Wrong order mixed drinks. Customers were friendlier!

I go frequently with my neighbour because of the lovely staff always help her, she is not able to carry very much and they always offer to bring our coffees over, a small thing but makes such a difference to her.

I've been a few times now with work colleagues. It can be slow service, even when it's not busy. The little chocolates are amazing and they have a good range of hot and cold drinks. The seating area is usually clean and tidy and comfortable.

Coffee really good, great choice of snacks (after all, they are not a Restaurant) nice atmosphere and a couple of the staff in particular are so lovely, friendly & helpful - especially the lady with grey/blonde hair and the young lad with glasses and maroon T-shirt ! (manager's a bit grumpy)

Good food and drinks but not as much choice as other coffee shop chains. The staff in here are really nice and there is a good atmosphere, the free wifi is good too.

Una buena posición en la ciudad y el personal estupendo, pero contador muy alto para llegar y ruidoso máquinas de café. La zona de estar es un poco escaso y no muy cómodo si no encuentra respaldo de que más se las necesita. Volveré porque es mejor que Costa! ! !

Very poor coffee which left a bitter taste in the mouth. There was also a poor selection of food to accompany the coffee. Would not recommend.

Best coffee in town by far. Prompt service and comfortable seating. Limited food selection but this is a coffee house, not a restaurant.

I used Cafe Nero when I am in ALTON in preference to Costa as it serves good coffee, the staff are friendly and there is always somewhere to sit. Costa's is too busy and the queues can be very long. Nerds has a better ambience, but that just my opinion. Others will disagree.

I had a pleasant cup of tea and cake here on a Sunday recently and found it all very relaxing. It was much bigger than I expected inside and everybody working there was very nice too. I prefer this to Costa and will come back for sure.

The new menu has lots of choice to offer and is good value. Excellent friendly service in a warm inviting atmosphere.

This place serves INFINITELY SUPERIOR frappes to the nearby Cafe Costa. Forget the smaller , dingier interior...this place is my first choice for coffee in Alton.

Always used Café Nero as first choice as coffee is fine and apricot croissants are delicious as was the case here. But an early Saturday morning visit at 8.15am -every table had crumbs, parts of floor sticky and not cleaned - Used tissue left on settee and toilets not cleaned well even though a cleaning in progress sign was left out. The male barista did not seem to want to be there on a Saturday and was doing nothing when we left at 9am. Would we come again - NO

I had plenty of "doppios" here in July and I have to mention that their COFFEE QUALITY is better than nearby rival Costa! need I write more about the two coffe bars in this one horse town!

Just go thru the coffee shop to the garden on the back. Pleasant sitting in a spice garden under the trees and super good coffee. Nice people, too. Thank you!

I always find the entrance and the ordering area to be really hot, but the rest of the cafe is a normal temperature. The staff are friendly, the coffee is reasonably priced and pretty tasty.There is a fairly large seating area in the back, but the staff are usually rushed off their feet so you will often find a few tables with empty cups.

Though I didnt much care for the muffin I ate here, the iced frappucino was fantastic. Really good chain store product!

I preferred the double expresso here to a very good one at Costas on the same main street but the place itself though large was incredibly crowded so i took my drink outside!!

there are a lot of coffee shops in alton, as in fact with any modern town today, however Neros seem to specialise in having small fronted high street locations, this is especially true here. If there are any more than 7 people on the queue you normally end up waiting on the high street. the servers are perfunctory in their attitude and to be honest the whole shop is dark and dinghy and not all that clean.To be fair though Nero brand coffee is good. But this does not reflect on the branch here.

The wife and i stopped in for a quick drink yesterday morning. My 'doppio' was great as was my pecan-maple Danish and my wife had a decent tea and croissant. Friendly helpful lady staff and very nice interior at this coffee bar.
