Food was awful and one member of staff humiliated me in front of my family by taking away my pint because I didn’t have my ID on me (thought I’m 23) the look on his face was smug as anything.

It was very busy as it was the Saturday half term ended. And it was 12.30. We had trouble ordering from the app as it took ages to load. After 10 mins ordered a burger and chips and a sirloin steak with extra onion rings. After over a half hour wait, the food arrived and the young server apologised for the delay. My partners chips looked like they were thrown on to the plate. But my food looked good until I ate the steak. It was very chewy and I has a job to get through it. I didn't request a new one as it would have taken a long time to come and you only get what you pay for. The red lion wetherspoons is the better one.

Breakfast Horrendous! Chef needs sacking! They couldn’t give a toss about the customer eating and any restaurant standard! My 8 year old could have produced better blindfolded! Cold and gross! Reheated x10 skin covered beans Overcooked rubbery eggs Cremated black pudding Cheap sausages Toast that hasn’t seen the toaster Reheated hard bacon Cold eggs Benedict without a runny egg a under toasted muffin If I wasn’t in a hurry I would have sat and waited until a decent breakfast was produced! To be honest I think it would have been a big ask for that kitchen to produce anything fresh and tasty!

I ordered a ham and chess pannie well you would have to look very hard for more than a tea spoone.of cheese so dry hardly any ham also the pub /restaurant very dirty dust on low levels months old when I phoned to complain was told two days ago they had an inspection from the counsle.and given a 5star how ridiculous and if its true there's something not right and it was very dirty I will be checking with the council as its not possible to be true the person I spoke to said jhis name was Ben when I asked for surname he said he was busy and rung up so rude oh my how can thus be allowed I'm obviously will never be going there again

Shocking service due to fault in till system what ever food did come out it was cold and nasty night wrecked

Visited today for lunch with friends. Very busy as you’d expect this time of the year & the schools on holiday. The food was fine & arrived promptly. However, the tables & seating were dirty. My chair was filthy & had what looked like years of grime, especially on the arms. The floor of the ladies toilets was sticky & I had to try 3 cubicles to find one with a serviceable door or lock. The place needs a thorough deep clean & toilets maintained before I think about returning. I’ve given good reviews in the past for this venue but standards have obviously slipped.

I am sure I'm just wasting my time writing this bad review because their head office clearly don't seem to care. this must be the worst establishment in the country , all the bad reviews I have read I concur with. this place needs a really good shake up ,but as long as they are making profits they won't care,won't be coming back or my friends and family

Rude staff, refused my family freedom of opinion, and feelings, blackmailed us to either be quiet or be banned, tables were covered in alcohol and food, nothing was clean and food was cold and undercooked

Food arrived cold. I politely and gently asked for a replacement. Despite how polite and friendly I was - no apology or appropriate response was given from the manager, who just ordered another plate and huffed off. The replacement food never arrived. Other tables around us started complaining that they also hadn’t received food to replace their original food sent back. After roughly 40 mins I went to enquire about the food, and the manager was unprofessional, rude and argumentative. After losing my temper (probably because I was starving by this point) I asked for a full refund, which she didn’t even give me, she was too busy coming up with excuses - explaining the food was “now ready” and “you moved tables” (which we did after 5 mins of ordering, 2 meters from the original table). It wasn’t even busy. The amount of people looking around for their food and sending back unacceptable food is not the fault of the customers. It’s poor service, poor management, and abysmal customer service all round.

Every surface was absolutely filthy. Requested a cloth but was told that someone would be round to clean our table, admittedly, the boy did come relatively quickly but only really distributed the food and detritus into a slightly thinner layer and pushed the larger bits onto the floor. The two cold breakfasts arrive in about 20 minutes, eggs were hard, beans were slopped off the side and none of it was above 20°C. Only one set of cutlery and after the realisation that he wasn’t going to bring any more I had to go and find my own. Very poor value in my opinion!

Whilst the food was ok for what you pay, the pub was obviously under staffed or the staff were not doing their job correctly and efficiently. There was plenty of empty tables although every one of the had used glasses/crockery/cutlery on them. We cleared our own table and used napkins to wipe it over before ordering our food. The food was fine for the money and we didn't expect anything more however we asked for mayo and was told it was on a shelf over o By the stairs, I went looking but there was none and I was left to ask another table if they had finished with theirs! Would I go back again? Possibly if we wanted a quick lunch without spending a huge amount but I have been to many weatherspoons and this is by far the worst

Met with 4 friends for lunch. The area our table was in was very cold. We asked if the heating could be turned up but nothing happened. The radiator next to us remained cold. I ordered soup which came in a bowl the size of a small teacup, with a slice of fairly dry white bread, instead of a nice crusty roll. At £4.03 this was very poor value by Wetherspoon's standards. Price increases, shrinking portions and the heating off on a freezing cold day will surely keep the customers away!

Went with my wife while my daughter was taking an exam at Alton College, both our first breakfasts were cold except for the sausage, 2nd time-even the sausage was cold. Free refills of coffee are great though.

Took a wonderful visit to the ivy house in Alton today and every expectation was met with sheer misery and disgust. After all it's a Wetherspoons ‍♂️.After queing for 15mins to get a drink( and that's short compared to the poor fella who had to wait 1hour and ten mins for his pint!!) I decided to try out the food.. big mistake that was. Had gammon eggs and chips struggled to cut my ham even with a steak knife. Too dried out and seemed like all our meals had been left keeping warm but sadly just warm ! Always had decent meal here so really disappointed.

We have been in several times lately as the pub offers good food until late in the evening, the food is well cooked and quickly served, the atmosphere is pleasant with the beers kept well. There is plenty of room to relax & the lovely old rooms are a joy to behold. This Wetherspoons pub is a real tonic for Alton.

I went to The Ivy House (Wetherspoons in Alton) on Sunday lunchtime with two friends. I had loaded the Wethersponn's App on my mobile on the Sunday morning & wanted to see how useful it wasThe three of us sat at our table & I fired up the app. Took me a couple of minutes & a helping hand from one of the staff to get to grips with it and once I had, what a difference it makes.From then, al lI had to do was enter our table number, click on the relevant drinks & food, sit back & waited to be served.The drinks came within 90 seconds and the food, obviously a little later, came in good time.Paid by Paypal from my phone - job done!,My lasagne was good as were my friends chicken strips & scampi and chips,All in all, a very good experience .Just hope that as & when this way of ordering becomes really popular, levels of service don't slip.

Love this place - I was ill recently and craved their Steak and Kidney pudding with chips and peas - went back there a couple of weeks ago and had Steak and Kidney pudding with chips and peas, my friend had steak - two drinks and all for just £18. Fantastic - service is quick - friendly and can't knock the place, If you want a quick, normal meal at a very reasonable price - this is the place to go, I have paid four times as much in other local restaurants around the area - and the food has not justified the expense.

Often go to The Ivy for breakfast with people I work with before heading to the office, also pop there for lunch from time to time. Service is good and staff are friendly. Decent pub food at good prices. Only downside is they don't open until 8am so breakfast is a bit rushed.

Visited on Thursday and Friday evening for a meal. The menu looked good, a variety of food to choose from. When my ribs and chicken choice arrived I thought it was a child’s meal. The ribs were tiny and only 3 of them, the chicken piece was also minuscule. The next evening I had chose scampi and chips, a chicken wrap arrived!! After a further wait the correct meal arrived. Again portion size small, leaving you wanting more. There was a restricted dessert menu - 5 choices. I can only comment on the Apple crumble, awful. Best part of the meal was the £2:49 pint of Doombar.

How can any pub get more than a star when there is no music, no volume on the tv, no darts, no dogs, no anything. THIS IS THE UN-FUN PUB. Wetherspoons are awful, you can not do anything in them except have a cheap meal and drink. And that is exactly what you get here.

Shocking service, staff having a chat with each other and not engaging at all with customers. I can't tell you what the food was like but looking at how empty it was, I suspect not that good, so due to the lack of service we left and went into Basingstoke town and found Zizzi where the staff, although rushed off their feet, were brilliant, accomodating and very charming. And the food was exceptional.

We go often here with our family and children. Great place for a reasonably priced meal. Good pub grub. Better than any other weatherspoons I have been to. Excellent bar with local craft beers too. Fast service and lots of seating. People moan about the quality of the food. But this is not meant to be 5 star cuisine, just good pub grub! Definitely gets my vote!

So we met up with our family for a get together.We sat over in one corner of the beer garden, out of the way. Our daughter had a new baby. We were enjoying our catchup, then just after 9pm we were asked to leave because our daughters baby was with us. We were told the company policy was no children were allowed on the premises after 9 pm. Staff also asked another table of people to leave because they also had a baby with them.I have never been to a food serving pub before in my life where you are told to leave because a baby being present.I appreciate children running around could cause accidents, but a tiny baby......never.It was still daylight and people were just having a quiet drink.I will never drink or eat in this in place again. So be warned parents....you may go in here and order food only to be told to leave at 9 pm.I will tell everyone I know what happened in this pub tonight, and persuade people not to use this place.Defo not a family place

We arrived today for a quick lunch and ordered a couple of pizzas and a chilli chicken wrap. The pizzas arrived and were nice, my husband and daughter enjoyed them. My chicken wrap however had no chilli sauce despite us confirming at the point of ordering that it was going to have chilli sauce. We questioned this and were told they had run out of sauce, no one came to check if we wanted anything else, just served a dry chicken wrap.They offered so swap for something else and I had a bbq chicken wrap with salad. This arrived and came with chips which I didn’t want and didn’t order!! We were short on time and I couldn’t be bothered to keep sending my food back so it went half uneaten!!When asked by someone if it was ok we explained the various mistakes and were told she would make the manager aware. Not that this changed anything and I have no idea if the manager was told. Not likely to come back!

Had to send back steak as it was like chewing rubber .Also they have now stopped serving stowford press cider and could.give no reason as to why. And when o ordered a newcastle brown tje girl spent 5 minutes walking up amd down trying to find the pump for it till i pointed out it was in a bottle in tje fridge behind her.Staff are clueless and servive was slow.

My wife and I are never disappointed coming here for breakfast or meal. The quality of food served is excellent. You can fault their approach of placing orders at the bar. They they serve at the table.

The staff deserve a medal in Alton considering they are earning the minimum wage and dealing with busy sessions. Management are never anywhere to be seen.. Food was served at a slow pace and cold tonight. If you like cheap burger meals then this is the place for you but don't expect it to be served quickly and don't expect anything healthy on the menu.

Been here quite a few times now and not been disappointed ! ok it's not Masterchef but the food is tasty, portions are generous and it's really cheap . The deli deal and free top up of drinks until 2 are really good value , I had a salmon and cream cheese bagel with salad and a drink for under a fiver !

We had an excellent evening meal, with good service spending £31 for 2 with a nice bottle of Rioja. Really pleased as have long been a Wetherspoons fan for good value.Being in Hampshire and an area of dog friendly pubs we asked about bringing our four legged friends in the futureWe were told by the manager that they had just reviewed their policy in the light of loosing custom and we would be able to have dogs outside.3 days later we returned at lunch time to meet a friend with our 2 dogs who sat quietly by our table and went to sleep in the sunshine. After I had ordered food and we were drinking our wine we were told by a waiter that we would have to leave as dogs were not allowed, we were all made to feel very uncomfortable and after a short exchange he went away and returned to say the manager said we could eat our food and then go!We later spoke with the manager who said it was not policy to allow dogs anywhere in Wetherspoons.Ok so why were we specifically told we could bring them in the garden?It was a very embarrassing situation to be put in.So Wetherspoons ........we would have been coming to eat regularly with friends.But not anymore.Good and value for money your food maybe but if you don't embrace your customer market sadly you won't be on our list . There are plenty of places that welcome well behaved dogs for us to go to instead and they even allow them inside in the bar area! Bear in mind that the law states that dogs are only banned from food preparation areas not eating areas. The rest is down to the owner!

We returned home after visiting relatives in Buxton and needed something to eat.The Ivy House was suggested, my wife had Burritos with Chilli and I had a Rump Steak, apart from a slightly longer wait than had been mentioned the food was very good. The Manager's Special was Steak at £4.99, this included 8oz Sirloin and Rump and a 14oz Ribeye, unbelievable!My steak was very good and accompanied by chips, flat mushroom, peas and grilled tomato. The staff were very efficient and pleasant.

Quite how they can produce such tasteless food is a mystery! Steak, onion rings, peas, chips, pepper sauce - bland, bland, bland! My wife's Caesar salad was just as bad. It may be cheap, but it wasn't worth even these low prices. In addition, the table and floor were dirty and the service slow and poor - our request for an additional spoon was ignored. The one star was earned by the glass of wine which was drinkable and the converted and extended building which was good; the toilets were clean. However, we won't be going again.

Have visited twice, at lunchtime and for a late morning breakfast. Exactly as expected. Pleasant surroundings, pleasant staff. Bargain meals, arrived quickly. Have noticed people moaning about the food and service- would think that they need to set their expectations accordingly. Gourmet food and silver service it isn't - for a relatively inexpensive bite to eat it's perfect. Also found that if you smile and talk pleasantly to the staff they tend to respond in kind. Remember it's a Wetherspoons. You are not dining at The Ritz!

It is clear that Wetherspoons have spent a fortune on this pub and in fairness the building work/refurb is very good. The food is very cheap probably because it is very poor quality. We had two cold breakfasts here. They were only £2.99 each but, I would be happy to pay more for them to be cooked !

Well I will start with a good point which it's quite a nice pub in terms of looks but it's all downhill from there. Ordered our food and were greeted with a hostile feeling. Ordered the large English which is a good size but lacks quality. Even with the cheap prices I expected some enjoyable food. We waited around 45 minutes to get our sub standard food, the bacon was dry and tough to eat. Seems like a nice place for a few drinks but wouldn't recommend eating there to anyone.

Terribly slow service and I'll trained staff. Manager had no people skills. Our breakfasts came out after 46 minutes, one hot and one stone cold, no apology.Staffed with very young people who need more training and a decent management team. Some staff seemed stressed out. One worker said " Yeah it's always like this" Very cheaply priced but having said that they shouldn't offer 'cheap service' to match.

This is not gourmet dining but reasonable pub grub at a great price. Quite often go on a Friday night with the kids for tea and it is great. No play area out side for the children which is a shame, but it is a pub in the centre of town. Service can sometimes be a bit slow but it is always busy. Would definitely recommend.

My wife and I enjoyed a meal at this establishment on Saturday last, 25th July. A reasonably priced meal, well prepared and presented, represented 1st class value for money. Look forward to our next visit. Thank you.

I visit here on a regular basis and I feel so sorry for the staff, I believe they try there best but seem to have such bad leaders. I've only known one manager I believe his name is Dave, who actually helps the staff and takes control. He makes us feel so welcome and it's only when he is there the staff are smiling. I would suggest maybe a new pub manager as the current one has no clue. Hopefully we will only end up there when Dave is there.

Went in for lunch at midday on a Friday. After buying a 2 hour parking ticket was then told that they would be closing with no warning. I then asked to be reimbursed as I only paid for parking to eat here. Was then rudely spoken to by the manager and told I would not be reimbursed. I have two big tips for you! One: Do not close a pub at lunch with zero warning. Come on, that's just bad business.Number two: manners do not cost anything. Perhaps employ a manager who can actually manage.DO NOT RECOMMEND!

The service behind the bar has to be some of the worst service I've ever experienced. We've decided that the only reason for it is bad management and staff that do not care (with a few exceptions). The conversion has been very tastefully carried out and we thought it would be a plus for Alton but after walking out with sheer frustration we probably will not return. The disabled toilet also can only be opened with a radar key which I understand has to be asked for from the bar. Please if you're unable to climb the stairs to the other toilets do not wait until you're desperate because you could be waiting a very long time to be served at the bar!!!!

We visit the Ivy every weekend because its close and is far better value than the other pubs in the area. However, they seem very short staffed. The staff do their best under really difficult circumstances. Management are never to be seen and the staff seem to struggle to cope with busy periods.The meals are ok, nothing spectacular but you get what you pay for.You do struggle to find the fish beneath the thick batter so I don't choose the fish dish anymore.

We have used the Ivy House a few times and have put the waiting time at the bar down to new staff. The length of wait at the bar has not improved with time - this cannot now be blamed on inexperienced staff it is now down to lack of care or concern. We walked out of the pub after waiting for half an hour (went to Castle of Comfort).I have lodged a complaint with W/spoons - no response.It could be a good pub but the staff need a rocket, the method of service requires rationalisation and the manager needs to get a grip. It's a shame because it's the kind of place for a beer and a burger that Alton needs.

To be honest I don't expect much from a Weatherspoons but my Dad loves them as he enjoys getting value for money. The new Ivy House in Alton was on our way and was a welcoming building. We found a table and I went to the bar to order drinks. The barman was new and couldn't find the beer I'd ordered from the menu. Another man behind the bar, maybe the manager, went and checked in the cellar and told me it was carbonated so I changed the order and he recommended a similar alternative, Alton's Pride from Triple ff brewery up the road. I carried the drinks through to the table and imagine my surprise, when the waitress arrived with our meals at the same time! Now that's what I call speedy!The drinks were well kept, the food well cooked, and all for under £14.There's no pub parking but there is a municipal one next door which cost £1.20 for 2 hours. Still a meal and drink for 2 people for under £15. What's not to like?

We stopped here on a Sunday morning for breakfast . We had a warm , friendly welcome from the bar staff. Lovely traditional breakfast & eggs benedict, very fresh & well cooked & nicely presented. Very clean toilets , lovely decor throughout the pub. Will definitely return here when in the area again.

Been to The Ivy for early bite to eat this evening. Bar staff were polite and helpful and food service was quick. The food itself was very good value - just under £12 for 2 course kids meal and mail course for adult, both including a drink. Both meals could be described as good pub food. As it was a lovely sunny evening we sat in the garden behind the building, which was well appointed and tidy. Definitely recommend for early evening meal.

If you're looking for cheap drinks in Alton, this is the place to go. The service is quite slow (even when not particularly busy), the staff seemed a little preoccupied the whole time.The building is great, the refurbishment went really well, but I noticed many tables with glasses and plates left uncleared and no staff clearing them up.The atmosphere is alright, you get quite a diverse crowd of people here.There are lots of different beers and ales to try here, so it is worth checking out.

Have had a few meals there now, none have been awful, but then we don't go at the busy times, no waiting, meals are hot, nothing missing on the plate,so no problem, the real ales are tip top, Love Altons pride from triple fff , and sheer drop from Surrey Hills,i love the way Weatherspoons have kept the caricature of the building, loads of little rooms to check out, love the toilets, clean regularly checked,The staff do need a bit more training, but they are getting there, after all they have only been open a while, so well done guys and gals keep up th good work,

I am a bit "snobby" re Wetherspoons as some of them in town centres can be full of noise and not appealing. However, we know they always have good real ales so decided to try this one in a small town. It was lovely and clean. A variety of different rooms, small and medium, modern or more traditional, to sit, so able to be in a quiet snug area or larger. The food was typical 'Wetherspoons', but it was cooked very quickly and was surprisingly tasty. Most importantly all the staff were helpful and courteous. Wetherspoons has gone up in my estimation. Well done.

Were do I start. First:-The Good... reasonable priced drinks....good value food...excellency conversion of old propertyThe Bad.....Poor management.......dirty uncleared tables.....bar staff slow and unknowledgeable....The Ugly....Most of the staff....majority of staff from Planet Weird (apart from leggy blonde)....customer service skills 0 out of 10.Eaten here 5 times in the past two weeks...won't be going back....Tim Wetherspoon would have apoplexy if he bothered to visit. Thought it was going to be good for Alton, but has slipped into the abyss of mediocrity.

Really this place needs management that know how to run a pub/restaurant. Tables are always dirty floor has food on it staff just walk pass things and don't take any notice as if its not up to them to tidy up. Food is average although half the time items are missing off the plate. Most of the staff and even some of the mangers really need to brush up on customer service don't talk to me like I'm a chav just because that is what you are employing as your staff. Horrendously awfull place....

I visited this pub for a sunday meal on 26th April with family. I ordered the mixed grill but unfortunately i think all the variants of meat offered in this meal were put on the grill and forgotten. Each peice of meat was burnt to a crisp, dry and rubbery with the life sucked out of it. The only reason i didnt complain was that we were on a very tight schedule to leave and i didnt want to be held up. My mother had the fish and chips, if you like batter you would be in heaven as batter was about all she got. Judging by the table next to us they had the same problem.

Went to this pub last night for our first meal since it opened. Me and my girlfriend ordered two meals, me the full rack of BBQ ribs and her the piri piri chargrilled chicken. The meals seemed to take quite a while to arrive tho it was quite busy so that is understandable and to be fair my ribs were excellent very tasty, warm and good value. However my girlfriend's chicken was very burnt on one side which I'm suprised the chef didn't notice before sending it out the kitchen. My girlfriend also said the chicken tasted incredibly dry and had to keep dipping the meat in the coleslaw to make it edible. I am a big fan of weatherspoons in general however this time it was pretty poor. Also why are you not serving the all day brunch in this wetherspoon's? Has it been scrapped from all wetherspoon's? It's a great shame if it has.

We visited on a busy Sunday evening and were very pleased with our Sunday roasts (one beef, one vegetarian). It was quite a treat to have a nice vegetarian roast made from lentils and real vegetables. We thought the accompanying vegetables and yorkshire puddings were good - fresh and nicely cooked. The portion size was just right, which was good considering the low price. The service was excellent, and the beer and wine were very cheap. The decor is excellent, since it has just been newly refurbished.The food is not the best quality nor the most imaginative that you can find in Alton, but it is correct considering the prices. There aren't many vegetarian dishes on the main menu - just some pasta, some sandwiches and a burrito.Our main disappointment was that you can only get sweet desserts - there's no cheese and biscuits choice which seems a shame since it's not difficult to source some good cheeses in Hampshire.

On entering the pub/restaurant it is very confusing as to how you order food. It would be helpful to have someone directing you to a table and telling you what to do. Just like Nandos. We spent about 15 mins around 5.30pm on a Saturday trying to find a table. In the end we took a chair from a nearby table to cater for our party of 3. Menu was reasonably priced. Lacked extras. Ordered roast chicken, ribs and a cheese burger. All tasted good. Ordering is stressful with the queues mixing up with bar customers. Needs a more friendly and professional touch. Staff need to know more about what they sell. If I do return I would avoid peak times.

Visited at lunchtime today (Thursday). It was curry day so had to go for it. Madras was good, korma was mild and tasty. Granddaughter has a classic burger which she declared as wicked.Service was swift and polite, 5 servers taking orders!Will come back next time in Alton.Lovely loos

ordered food waited 35 minutes, asked a waitress where food was? and it magically came out piping hot only to go cold very quickly (I suspect it was left under hot lamps as food was dry) this could of been a one off but staff were not sympathetic to the time waiting for food and the quality of food that was served. The ivy house is better for cheap drinks than a good meal out, I guess the food is cheap and you pay for what you get.

I have visited The Ivy House about 5 times since it opened - at different times / days. Sadly nothing has improved. After my first visit I wrote to complain about the poor service by bar staff and received a reply from the Duty Manager who said they were still training and it would improve. Well, it hasn't! A good bar person should be aware of what customer is next to be served and at least make eye contact. The staff in Alton are slow, unfriendly, unprofessional and do not have any product knowledge, even to the point when I asked for crisps they had to go and ask someone else if they sold crisps! This Saturday round 6pm it was not too busy but the dirty tables and the huge pile of dirty glasses piled up near the bar waiting to be washed was appauling. The 'manager' was wandering around looking extremly scuffy and unkempt as if he had been dragged through a hedge backwards. - why wasn't he actually doing something? A few Sundays ago I went in about 4pm and the tables still had dirty plates on from lunchtime. I was looking forward to the opening but after 5 visits I will probably not go back, despite the cheap alcohol. I have not actually spoken to anyone who has anything positive to say about the service - Please sort out training or get new staff. The Manager needs to be pro-active and lead by example. There is no friendly welcome when you come in. This is so sad and dissappointing.

Have been to The Ivy House about six times since it opened and have found it to be great. It is very popular and at peak times it is hard to get a table, so go earlier if you can. To all of the people who are snobbish, negative and love to knock this place on Trip Advisor and its staff, don't forget that the young staff are all new to this and doing their best in a very busy bar. The prices - where else in Alton can you get a meal and a drink for under £5 in such lovely surrounding? The conversion has been done really well and the disabled access is great with a lift and ground floor disabled toilet. The ladies loos are beautiful. My partner and I love this place, we can afford to eat out more often as it is cheaper, and from what we've seen, most of the customers are enjoying it too. A great addition to Alton.

First the positives - they have done a GREAT job on restoring the older parts of the building and the craft beer and gin selection is amazing. However, never forget that this is a Wetherspoons, the best you will get is average food, in the case of the Ivy house though you will be lucky if you can place an order within 15 minutes of arriving at the bar, even luckier still if the food arrives within an hour, and at a temperature that makes you think it is YOU who was late to the table not the food. I can't help but think that they need an experienced crew for this first few months

Visited Easter Sunday to find they couldn't serve food due to an electrical issue, staff apologetic and greeted us at door so decided to try again Easter Monday. Nice pub and plenty of seating. Family of 4 chose 4 different meals, went to order at 16:50 only to be told 3 of these unavailable as didn't have the food in stock. Different meals chosen but bar staff unable to listen and use till system, wrong orders entered, then to be told 2nd choice of meal also unavailable. By this time 17:00 had arrived and 2 of the drinks included meals finished at this time, asked for this to be honoured due to lack of choice and staff error. Manager would not do anything and didn't not apologise for inconvenience, would not even talk to us only via bar staff. Incompetent staff lacking in customer service. Decided not to eat in the end and left. Unlikely to return.

Mmmmmmm 3rd visit, 1st visit was dismal , 2nd visit was good that's because we had vouchers after complaining about 1st vist ( free food & drink always tastes better ) 3rd visit staff still clueless about the bar , 3rd occasion I have visited & they have run out of Stella Artois ! Also NO prosseco ( again ) , some of the staff are lacking in personality , thinking that what they are actually being paid for is below of them ! I sound like a jealous Alton landlord but I'm actually somebody who just likes competent service All said the Sunday roast was excellent & great value which is why I will return , hoping the teething problems are sorted because it has been open for a month . Poor excuses from management regarding why they haven't got popular core products readily available , on leaving bar was closing ( 3pm Easter sunday ) due to a technical error !!!!!!! How many bars have technical errors !!
