Five stars for convinent location otherwise a very average Costa experience

I’ve been to loads of costas all over the place and this one again and again is without doubt the slowest …….. even with different people!!!

Soooooo slow! Second time I've been here and had the same experience. Staff are polite, but in their own world spending more time talking to each other than getting on with making the drinks. I appreciate that Petersfield has a slower pace of life than the one that I'm used to, but still, basic customer service is universal. It feels as if there is no reliable mechanism for ordering a coffee; both times my order has been forgotten between till and barista. There is a lot of choice in Petersfield for coffee: I won't be back.

The service and Thier toasted cheese sandwiches were enjoyable not to mention the coffee to go with it.

Haven’t been to Costa for a while and I can now see why , not busy , dirty tables 4 staff on duty with no one really I suggest knowing what they were doing . Never waited so long for a coffee . Shame

I always use upstairs as it's cleaner and quieter than downstairs! Coffee is good, though the service can be patchy.

Weather was bad so chose Costa, as the nearest coffee house.

Chronically understaffed... no clear tables....the place needs a damn good clean... we would be in no hurry to return.

Short staff again but the guy with the beard keeps the place going, great job. Unfortunately the owner and higher management just can't sort the lack of staff problems. How about they come in and do the washing up and help out. Never buy food as it's too expensive like the coffee.

Saturday lunch time, really dirty, 10 trays with empty cups etc upstairs. Small swarm of flies around serving area and upstairs. Chap with beard behind laughing and making silly comments to colleagues ie don't care bordering on rude to customer waiting patiently for drink. We come here regularly but today was really poor.

My daughter and I always like coming here it's friendly and a nice atmosphere. Tom S was lovely, the tills were only taking cash but he made sure he made a note of our beans which was thoughtful and kind. Great customer service 😊

Today our mother was taken ill. The staff at Costas were excellent, And so caring. They called paramedics, and closed shop for an hour. Very caring people. And thankyou from Me and family. They cared for the people not the Money. Daryn Jones.

You know where you are with Costa. You know what the coffee tastes like. You know what food they serve. You won't be disappointed.

Disappointing experience, not like the usual Costa standard. Tables messy, plates not collected. I used a tissue out of my bag to wipe out table down - there wasn’t any paper napkins in sight and it was impossible to ask a member of staff behind the counter for one as there was a gathering of about 8 people waiting for orders at the serving station. Couldn’t get anywhere near. The staff member making the cold drinks was working quite slowly, constantly knocking things over. The area was messy with used jugs everywhere. I’m not sure how anyone can go any faster in those conditions. When our drinks were eventually ready after about 10 mins, our food had been sitting out on the counter surrounded by other waiting customers. Everything just seemed a bit chaotic and although I appreciate that things can get busy, it wasn’t a pleasant experience from start to finish. There were staff members with long hair that wasn’t tied up neatly, but instead had long hair trailing out and long beards without hair nets (which I have seen in other Costa’s). With that and the uncleanliness of the seating area, cutlery and counter tops, my overall impression was hygiene was not an important factor or taken seriously.

While visiting Costa in Petersfield recently I was taken poorly. The Manager Iian was amazing, he looked after me so well, I hope you realise what a wonderful Manager you have.

Service was okay. Not the best mind; The coffee was the worse coffee I have been served will definitely not be back, for a big company like costa I would expect good quality coffee and with those prices was of mediocre quality

Monday morning. 7 August. Should be open 7am. Its now 8am and still shut.. not good. No notices ...nothing!!

Walked in, tables piled high with dirty cups, bins overflowing. Absolute disgrace. Some member of the public got bags and cleared the place and cleaned the floor. Staff miserable, on a go slow. Won't be going in there again.

COSTAS are costas , to stand out you have to do something extra. This one does. The main selling point is the manager and t he staff - makes it a real pleasure !!

Dirty. Untidy. The door mat as you walk in looks like it’s never been hoovered. Always seems to be too few staff. Who always seem disinterested in their work or the customers.

Nice to have a Costa Coffee that was made with some care. The coffee was nice, milk velvety & hot. Staff friendly & polite.

Good coffee, efficient, pleasant staff.

Spacious Costa Coffee however tables and floor where in need of a clean. Hot drinks where being served in take away cups even for dine in customers which is not good for the environment.

Argh. Five people working with no queue, yet tables were piled high with dirty plates etc. Employees loudly chatting across the cafe and when I went to order, the young server was looking down and it took a few seconds for her to even notice I was there. Slap dash and unpleasant. It seems to be very poorly managed. Man with big beard likes the sound of his own voice and was embarrassing. Won’t be back as there are so many independents that are streets ahead of Costa. Shame.

Absolutely great visit Ian was amazing and helped with all of our requirements and needs looking forward to our next visit. Keep up the great work with the frappès and the presentation was spot on

Disappointing. Too many tables cluttered with dirty crockery. Kitchen area filthy. Toilet filthy. Serving staff area floor filthy. When I pointed this out to the young staff, they were disinterested and sullen. They blamed ‘staff shortages’ but surely it’s not hard to pick rubbish off the floor where you are standing? The manager was mysteriously‘unavailable’ although he was very much in evidence when I arrived. This is my third visit in three months. The staff are new each time. The manager appears as an overbearing, self centred primadonna who thinks he’s rather more celestial than he is. I judge him to be a misogynistic bully with few management skills. I suggest there is a link between filth, poor morale, high staff turnover and weak management. Sadly the Costa website is impenetrable when it comes to making a complaint. Oh… and I was overcharged.

Staff were very busy and the tills were down. That happens - but the rudeness was inexcusable. As was the overflowing cups of scalding hot coffee.

Lots of staff making coffee very slowly. Lots of dirty cups on tables, collected very slowly. No sign of a cloth to wipe the tables after being cleared so all the tables are dirty. There were crumbs on the floor and even the teaspoons we were given with our drinks were dirty. Won’t be coming back in a hurry. Thoroughly depressing.

Great for a take out. Went there Thurs 21/10/22 and it absolutely stank so bad that I had to drunk my drink quick and go, I thought it was coming from the bathroom, but as i was leaving it was confirmed to me that it was some issue behind the counter! I hope it wasn't contaminating food and drink!!

Perfect place to have a great break between shopping. 😊☕🤩 Not on top of seasonal stuff I'm afraid... Been trying to get some Maple Hazel latte for a few days but there were out of stock in every single store we were in from Winchester to Liverpool... Not great.... 🫤

Shout out to the 3 youngsters who have calmly and professionally held it together this Saturday morning ON THEIR OWN with no management in store. I am full of praise and admiration as I know that two are only 17 and only part-time.

Staff were seemed confused and untrained. Very unprofessional and more interested in chatting amongst themselves than serving customers. @costacoffee train your staff!!!

Friendly staff, in and out quicky as intended

Absolutely awful. Never feel like going in here as it never seems clean, but was pushed as it’s one of the later opening cafes in Petersfield. Preconceptions were confirmed. It is dirty. Fewer than 50% of tables were occupied, with two staff at the counter. Tables were ladened with dirty coffee cups and food remnants. I was swatting flies away throughout “enjoying” my drink. Yes it was a warm day, and some flies are inevitable, but why make absolutely no effort to remove the waste food which is attracting them!? Nothing about how quiet the cafe was dictated that two people were required at the counter. This was complacency and laziness. Observed a woman try to order a dairy free coffee in her own reusable cup. This appeared to blow the minds of the two men working at the counter: whether it should be a medium or a small to fit the cup etc, one man laid is head on the counter at frustration at the other and the pretended to whip him with a tea towel. All very odd, they were in absolutely no hurry and entirely disregarded that the woman appeared to be in a rush. You know it’s not good when you leave early because the filthy environment is so unappealing. The two are in separate stratospheres, but the above would just never happen in Josie’s which is why it reigns supreme.

Barriers make it difficult to hear staff. Staff don't know how to make coffees properly, ordered a wet cuppcino but it turned to be a americano with foam... Staff need to be either trained better or try harder.

Busy downstairs so used upstairs. Rather dark but looks like been recently renovated Shame loo let it down - dire need of proper clean

Great fresh coffee, however the food somtimes seems a day old...

It was ok brought 2 teas £2.40 =£1.20 per pot got a cup and a half from each pot. about the going price from all outlets in Petersfield pity the pot was not a little larger so it made 2 cups per pot at that price.

Noisy when just trying to go for a quiet coffee

Absolutely filthy cafe. Dirty tables and floor and the windows look like they haven’t been cleaned in months. Poor service at the counter with repeated wrong orders. There didn’t appear to be any delineated chain of command behind the counter with staff becoming confused over who had been served and what they ordered resulting in chaos.

Nice little cafe. Had a hot chocolate and toastie sandwich. Very tasty

It's nice when it's quiet. Upstairs is the office for a lot of folk. Not so great when that involves PHONE CALLS. But hey

Had to ask for help a few times, due to several difficulties with my mental health. Had help every time from Ian, who dropped everything he was doing to make sure I was alright, doing so with a smile and a joke each time, despite being busy. He was brilliant and it really made my visit better.

Localizado em sítio histórico da cidade, (o pequeno Rams walk), com arquitectura de aspectos interessantes para quem aprecie e goste dumas fotos tipo postal.

Had to go in and ask for our table to be cleared and sanitised ! Not a good ask? While I was ordering our drinks, the young girl I had asked came out and did another table! Two adorable ladies on the table next to us suggested we out the tray from the previous customer on their table. Better than going back in and requesting another clean and wipe. Is it now so back to normal, tables are not cleared?

Friendly staff - also helped me with the door as I had my baby in the buggy.

I had lunch in Costa with my wife, and overall we enjoyed our sandwiches, cakes and drinks. I am concerned, however, that despite ordering and confirming a large hot chocolate, and being charged for it, the cashier still instructed the barista to make a medium, and then became upset when I corrected him. Overall a good experience.

Like most Costas, clean, tidy and staffed by friendly helpful staff.

They had no decaf, it felt a little barren inside bit I had a nice iced drink.

We had planned to stroll around town before our train was due, but the heavens opened and we popped into Costa for a drink. Luckily bagged a seat just inside the door. Quite busy as the school day had just finished, but service was quick, and efficiently served with a smile. All the usual range of snacks and light meals are on offer and the coffee was good. Would certainly visit again.

Not a bad Costa coffee with pleasant staff and pretty much empty when we visited on 23rd December am. The place was clean with plenty of COVID signage and a full sanitising station. No tea cakes available unfortunately so settled on a bacon bap which was ok. Flat white coffee good as always. Looks like this is one of the older costas around and a little bit soulless compared to some of the new costas out there.

Good drink, I had flat white, and snack items, similar to all other Costa Coffee outlets I guess. Due to Covid restrictions, there were few tables avaliable. The staff were doing a good job considering the circumstances. This is our regular coffeehouse and we keep going back! Thank you Costa :) 😃

So happy that our local Costa Coffee has re-opened. Very well organised as you would expect from the wonderful staff that work in this branch.

Central location and know what I get so always enjoy a stop for a Costa. Seating outside too.

Terrible service. The man who was serving, James, extreamly slow, did things backwards and also told me the wrong price, even though till had the right price. Didn't offer sauces with bacon roll, nor did he offer serviettes or a bag. I much prefer Costa at Ocean Park Portsmouth.

Some staff members are unprofessional and rude (mainly to their colleagues Infront of customers) Lack of customer service skills and training causes a slow and unpleasant service. I used to visit often but the recent bad experiences have put me off.

Superb place. Staff were a little overstretched but were amazing. Will be back for my caffeine fix soon

I decided to take a little trip to Costa Petersfield to treat myself to a nice cappuccino and hopefully get my assignment done- which I am swamped in. I sat upstairs where it is very quiet and perfect for concentrating, and I got more done in one hour than I had in a whole week. I started to get hungry at around midday so I ventured downstairs and got myself a ham and cheese toastie and a cappuccino. I was very impressed with the atmosphere downstairs, it was bustling and conversational but not too loud. I would also like to point out that the staff were so lovely and friendly. I was particularly impressed with one member of staff- I believe her name was Isobel (I didn’t quite catch her name tag) she was at the till and she was friendly and informed me about promotions and new recipes! Very pleased with my stay, definitely would come for the same reason again.

Raining and cold so retreated inside for a break. Cuppa and a snack. The place was clean and at the back have really comfy seats and sofa with a mini library of books. So we relaxed and had a cuppa and a read.

Had a really unpleasant experience here. As soon as i sat down the 'manager' (white hair with long white beard) came over and in a really aggressive manor asked if i was going to buy anything. Also noticed him being rude to his staff and shouting across the shop to them and embarrassing them in front of customers. Furthermore, the coffee shop is way over priced for their quality of goods which has gone down over the past few years as they have switched out their products for cheaper ones to make more profit.

Very happy and friendly staff with quick service. Comfortable seating and clean.
