We had an after funeral drinks for my dad's send off , Michael and Christian couldn't do enough ....highly recommend

Excellent service from Dan and the team, friendly and chatty when I popped in on my own. Very welcoming and looking forward to them reopening.

When we first walked in the staff just didn’t acknowledge us there was no table of 6 available so asked if we could move the table of 2 and table of 4 together as they were next to each other and both free. At first we was told no and then after a bit of explaining we was told we’d have to wait 15 minutes so they could clear the table. There was a tray with a few empty drinks on. 15 mins was up so we all went in and sat down the tray with drinks on was still on the table and the table hadn’t even been wiped. After all getting settled the waitress finally moved the tray and explained they was busy. We ordered drinks and food together. The drinks took 20 minutes to come. I had coke in a bottle and a glass with ice in. My ice was already half melted. Over an hour later our food came out. Burgers were dry. The Mac and cheese was the worst thing I had ever seen. It was like really stodgy porridge and did not taste of cheese at all. Any time we asked the waitress something she just made it seem like we was asking her to go above and beyond for us when really we wasn’t being difficult even in the slightest. At the end we go to pay and they add a 10% service fee without even asking. Why would I want to pay 10% of my nearly £150 bill for a poor and quite disgusting service. Went for a meal after hearing so much about the place, of course we chose the day the kitchen was closed for cleaning 🙃 so cannot rate food. Older lady behind bar was OK, not particularly friendly. Drink prices were expected, but didn't like it being served in a plastic cup. Will give it another try when down "that way"

Food good but old plates on the carvery should be replaced as they appear dirty. Whole place could benefit from a make over

Es la primera vez que visito y qué comida tan fabulosa, uno de los mejores asados de domingo que he tenido en mucho tiempo! Los tamaños de las porciones eran generosos, con un montón de carne perfectamente cocida, patatas asadas crujientes y esponjosas, y deliciosas verduras. El queso de coliflor era un verdadero sobresaliente, cremoso y lleno de sabor. La salsa era absolutamente rica y llena de gusto, uniendo todo maravillosamente. Además no pude resistir el postre, fruta crumble con helado que era igual de impresionante. El servicio era excelente — amable, eficiente y acogedor. Una gran experiencia alrededor, y sin duda volveré!

Mussel starter had no flavour. The slow cooked brisket was over cooked and dry. Roast potatoes had been reheated but were cold. Gravy was bland. Table not cleared after starter. After an hour asked for table to be cleared and requested main course.

Birthday party of seven, two courses, plenty of drinks. Food, prepared by Simon, was hot, delicious and timely. Steve was efficient and friendly with the help of their female colleague, whose name we didn’t catch. We will definitely return.

I booked 2 nights absolutely discussed with the place cost me 159 for two nights 3 options on the menu no draught beer no wine range or bottled beer no air con does not say this on the website will never stay in a premier inn again if this is what there like totally let down and the food looked like it was from Iceland do not recommend this place at all

Don’t waste your time. Rubbish food with long waits, rude and uninterested staff. Place is filthy and tired. Be better off going into Morrisons next door and getting a meal deal.

Such a great place to visit atmosphere incredible friendly staff and great food I highly recommend it to anyone would definitely visit again.

We come here for breakfast regularly with the company the young girl Emma is very helpful made us feel comfortable explained how it all works and explained my wife’s gluten allergy very clearly and was able to make her feel relaxed about what she can and can’t have and bring out cleaned cutlery for her, the food was hot and very good £10.99 for a buffet is amazing price for an all you can eat buffet, she went above and beyond for us and made us feel valued and also was happy to help with our questions with travel towards Oxford. Went to Black Lion for a Sunday roast after visiting Brighton for the weekend. The roast was fantastic, big and really tasty (had the pork and veggie wellington) and the service was great, good beer selection and the new refurb looks great.

Visited for Easter Sunday with family. The food was tasty, and there were large portions, so you won't get disappointed for sure. It was nice food, I had the vegetarian option for roast, and the rest of my family had meat options. On each plate, plenty of food, that some of us struggled to eat all. The letdown was the service as it was a wait for the bill ( I had to ask a few times), however, I gave them the benefit of a doubt as it was Easter Sunday. Priced reasonably and affordable for a nice meal out. The decor could do with a little bit of refreshments, and good clean, especially the toilets. There is plenty of free parking and easy to find. The staff on shift were friendly and welcoming, so thank you . Would recommend for a nice grab!
