Went for a lively quiz night on a Monday last week. Good bunch of people. Bit load after 3 and hours hours which was OK because the guy doing the quiz had to project his voice. So we could all hear him. Good fun. Got home a bit later then anticipated. Drinks selection was good. Lovely atmosphere. Go if you have the time.

By far the worst most disgusting meal we have ever seen. 3 out of 4 of us ate two bites and left the rest. No one checked on us, bangers and mash burnt with black gravy. Both pasts dishes thay were supposed to be totally different were obviously from the same packet. Shocking. Maccie D's looks gourmet in comparison.

Just had to put a review of this fantastic find on our day visit to Chichester. From the outside this is a very unassuming pub but inside it opens up with a large restaurant area. My wife Sue and I had a couple of drinks and the Carvery here, and what carvery it was. Without doubt the best I have ever had. No skimping on the meat here, if you wanted all 4 choices you can have them, and I certainly did. And not tiny or even small potions but a good amount of each. Same with the veg, good choice and lots of it. Not a cheap roast at £19 odd a time but well worth it. They also had an extensive al a carte menu as well as what seemed like quite a few 'specials' I just had to let the team there just how good it was, and one of the 2 guys running it seemed to really appreciate that I did. Truly well worth a visit.

Done a day trip to Chichester as a family and decided to come to this pub based on previous reviews and it certainly did not disappoint! We were seen to by Alex who was fantastic at handling a table of 11 hungry people! Service was fantastic and we all felt very well looked after! Food portions were fantastic especially given the price. Very tasty also I am pretty sure everyone on the table enjoyed both the starters and mains very much! I would highly recommend the rack of ribs and others on the table highly recommend the fish and chips. Lovely atmosphere and vibe a well deserved 5* I would definitely come here again.

There is nothing more English in the world than a pub! And, if you want to communicate with real British people and get to know their culture better, then go to the pub! We visited the nearby pub, The Nags Head, and got a lot of impressions. First of all, from real beer! There were more than 15 types of beer 😳 and in order to choose ours, we were offered a tasting. Coffee beer is not for everyone, I would like to point out right away, but the British all drink it. Secondly, they don’t pour it at the angle of the glass, but straight into it straight so that it all bubbles! The beer is the freshest! We ordered some snacks, delicious food! The atmosphere in the bar is friendly, regulars have been coming here for years) and, although it’s only 17:00 outside, the bar is already full of people! Thanks for such a cool evening! 👍🏼

Didn't stay in any rooms popped in for dinner. Service was okay, could hear staff complaining about each other and the server we had didn't really know what she was doing. Don't blame her as she said she's new. Food was okay average I had the burger with all the added items from the menu was okay. Chips were overcooked, in my opinion. My starter was the hallumi fries. Tbf they were tasty but look warm and the sauce was cold. Sauce would have been nice hot. I had southern confert and lemonade asked for ice and slice got neither.

Food awful, chips cold and raw in middle, scampi soaking in grease. Wife's plate of food came out first then had to wait 20 minutes before the other meals to come out by which time my wife's food was stone cold so she didn't eat much of it. Far to much pesto in toasted sandwich which over powering. Currey was cold, nobody came to ask how our food was ! Left very disappointed.

Very disappointed with my visit - following some seriously lacklustre customer service I ordered a vegan burger, something I’ve done hundreds of times in hundreds of establishments, and it was served to me in charcoal form (photo attached) After asking the waiter if it would be possible to have a non-carbonised burger I was told that it’s ‘how they come’ which I’ve never found to be true, and it was abundantly clear that to remake it would be at great pains to the chef. One dry, burnt burger later and I’m resolved to never return and would suggest others avoid!

Basically I was in Chichester A&E and was told the waiting time from entering A&E to my procedure would be 24 hours, so instead of sitting in a very uncomfortable chair for 24 hours along with hundreds of other people I booked a room at the Nags Head. Just what I wanted after 10 hours in A&E, lovely young lady showed me my room, basic, bright, very clean, comfortable & at a great price. If in Chichester again wouldn't use anywhere else. 5 minutes walk to the hospital for my operation at 9.10am. Didn't eat there cause I was nill by mouth, but from what I saw all look good and the smell of food was insane. Come & go as you please. Absolutely for the price 5 + stars. We have been going to the Nags Head for years and years, and 99% time had great meals and service, Today though was different. They had no record of our booking(we was told it was crossed out by someone ) no problem as there were plenty of tables free. They sat us down but after a few minutes we all decided that it was too cold, as we were opposite the door with people coming and going. So we asked to be moved. which we did. We ordered our food and I did want fish and chips for a change but saw there was small, medium or large. Always though it was just one size, as we have had it loads of time over the years. I decided against this as I saw a couple of said fish and chips being served to another table. The fish batter looked a bit black. and looked very small. Two others at our table ordered fish and chips. One Large One small. When the food came out my wife said mine's the large one. Well if that is large, i would have been very disappointed. Then the small one came out.Small!! you mean tiny. they had about 12 chips each . very expensive for what you got, and yes the batter was a bit burnt. If that is your large fish then there is no way we will be back for that.

The restaurant was very busy with Christmas parties but the ambience was great and the staff professional, efficient and very friendly. There was a wide choice of dishes on the main menu as well as the carvery. We sampled both. Everything was excellent, the meats succulent and moist, the wide selection of vegetables beautifully cooked and piping hot. The helpings were very generous. So, we all had an excellent lunch, served in good time. I would recommend this venue very highly.

We were a large party in a first time experience of the Nags Head. The first thing you notice is how busy it is and at one point with the footfall coming through the restaurant and the level of noise I wasn’t really enjoying my time there. However the service is really very good and as with last reviews the food is really excellent. The meat and Yorkie is plentiful and the gravy is very tasty. I will go back but phaps later in the day. But the team in there made the visit very good and they try hard to keep the area clear and they relay very quickly. Well done a lovely visit

Have been wanting to return here for the famous Nags Head carvery for sometime. Used to come here with my folks many years ago and knew my dad would have wanted me to take my husband. We did come once just after the pandemic but obviously no carvery then so we finally made our booking and came last Sunday. The booking hadn't been registered but even though it was packed the waitress kindly found us a table. The carvery is now quite expensive but everything has risen in price these days. True to form there were about 5 different roasts and you could have had as much as you wanted from more than one meat. Then over to the vegetables which are laid out well on 2 different sides to avoid the 'school dinner' type queue. There were a wide selection of vegetables and the roast potatoes and Yorkshires were deeelicious! We were not disappointed and the waitresses were very polite and helpful. All in all a 5 star carvery!

I’d like to counter the previous review and welcome a response from him and other diners. Him and his parents were very drunk and were extremely obnoxious. “I’m a manager in a ‘London’ restaurant” he kept bleating. Turns out, when his mother came over to apologise to my girlfriend and I, that he is a manager in Floyd’s, a pub. The food and the staff were gallantly defended by a number of diners….. It looked like you and your parents were too drunk to eat so you made some excuse up to get out of paying… You still hung around, like a bad smell, to drink more alcohol after embarrassing yourselves… Hopefully I don’t see you lot in Nags or any other establishment in Chichester…. Shame on you….

Let’s start: 1. Started came out at the same time as the mains, this may have been an error from the waitress, however. 2. Mains came out, my mothers scampi was clearly microwaved again, to make it hot again. 3 I’ve gone to get my carvery, and I’ve waited for at least 5 mins. Being from the industry, I can understand the chef being on break/having a ciggie etc., however then to get to greeted by A chef talking to the guy behind me saying “beers have been ordered for later” is unacceptable. 4. The 4 hour rule means you Chuck the dishes after hot holding. These roast potatoes had clearly been on for at least 8 hours, wrinkly and dry. 5. Leeks not cleaned, AT ALL!!!! 6. Tried to tell the manager, instead he sent a waitress over. 7. Manager finally came over and barely listened. 8. Member of the public (may have been the managers friend, may have not) tried to confront both me and my father, who is of old age and may need a wheelchair soon. 9. All the manager said was that we had too much to drink.. Really?? I welcome this response, as genuinely, I’d like to hear you recount your sides of these events. Nags head used to be an institution of Chichester, and nowadays, well, based on this visit, you’re done for this family..

We were very impressed with the whole set up at the Nags Head in Chichester. We arrived (without a booking at lunch time, following university graduation for our boys), so there were nine of us. No problem!! Staff were great. As a coeliac, i really...

Can only review on the breakfast, firstly a very cheerful, helpful and friendly waittres. I had the Veggie option and I could not fault it. Egg, two sauages, baked beans, mushrooms and tomato. Great thick wholemeal bread as well, with fresh coffee.

Very quiet when we popped in for a drink on a Saturday afternoon, which made it a little soulless. Limited ale range. Covid measures observed. Will try again on our next Chichester visit.

Thank you to the Nags Head for providing three excellent take away roasts on Mothering Sunday. Quality of food was excellent and portions were generous. Well done.

We recently ordered three beef and one turkey Sunday roasts from the Carvery during lockdown. The meals were ready for us on time and were very tasty. The portion sizes were excellent and the staff friendly. We definitely recommend you try them!

Lovely place with brilliant food and drinks.. however there was one staff member that was rude and arrogant to other members of the team which was very off putting.... A tall man with brown hair in a light blue polo top was nice to be served by but clearly made other members off staff uncomfortable and was very rude to them... demanding jobs to be one which caused clear upset.... This didn’t ruin the experience but definitely made the experience slightly uncomfortable to watch.... Other than that the bar staff were lovely - lovely young boys and young girls behind the bar and in the restaurant...!!!

The food is consistently good but there are two reasons why I won't be coming back to this pub: 1. It is "dog friendly". This means that you have to listen to these filthy animals barking incessantly, or worse, watch them peeing on the floor...

Great venue, terrible food. Everything is covered in bbq sauce. Most unappetising.

We called in after a local walk looking forward to drinks and lunch. No draught bitter was available (only lager and cider) as they had “run out”! One young chap appeared to be on his own and the bar was vacant for some time despite there only being one other small group in the whole bar. We left after still having only one drink (an appletize) served to our party of 3 while the beer situation (or lack of was looked into). Sitting in an empty pub for 20 minutes with no drinks is not great experience. We paid for the one drink we’d been served (£3 for the pleasure) and left never to return!

We went for a birthday lunch it was fairly busy but we had no problem getting a table. Food was very good only slight criticism we had an eight year old who wanted the pasta dish and when it came it was really big so she couldn't finish it. A good experience I would absolutely recommend it.

Can't comment on food only really have hot drinks. The staff are efficient and friendly, drinks are well made with a good range of seasonal drinks.
