Really lovely atmosphere and decor. It is great that they have locally sourced produce where possible. Also good friendly service. It is certainly on the higher end price wise. We came in for a lovely breakfast and had the shakshuka and added chorizo, and the poached eggs on toast with added feta, mushrooms and chorizo. We then had a coffee and an apple juice each. Adding things such as chorizo or feta to a meal does incur some additional costs to the base price of the meal. Both meals were lovely and well cooked. Combined with the service charge the final bill came to around £67. Which for two people for a breakfast is on the higher end. The quality of ingredients and food is great, plus with locally sourced produce understand the higher prices. But would we return for breakfast again? As a very rare treat maybe.

My husband & I visited yesterday for two cakes, a juice and a beer. The bill came to £25 which we found quite steep but as small business owners ourselves, we understand the overheads on a place like The Barn must be high. We don’t agree with their 12.5% service charge though. They should have asked if we were ok with it, or make it clear that it will be added. We worked it out after our visit. But the incident came when we went to pay at the front till. A member of staff came hastily from the restaurant room and said to her colleague, without looking or acknowledging us: “Table 6, sorry they walked off”. When we asked for clarification, she replied that customers who eat at the restaurant should pay at the back. We were confused as this was our 2nd visit and at the time, we paid at the front till. This lack of communication and courtesy really dampened our experience. Good customer service is at the heart of all we do in our own business. This member of staff would have no place in our team. Given the high prices and the way we were treated, we certainly won’t return. There are plenty of other tea rooms and restaurants in Chichester that value their customers more and offer good food at more reasonable prices.

What a find. We were just looking for somewhere for a spot of lunch whilst on a visit to Chichester. It’s a lovely eclectic place, unique and quirky. We sat inside (with a dog) as they were full. Great menu with a lot of thought having gone into it. We both chose the shawarma with extra chorizo which was fab and surprisingly filling. Coffee also nice. Food did take some time to come out, but I believe they cook everything freshly and it was a very busy lunchtime period. Staff were engaging and friendly (we were sat by till). I’d definitely go back next time.

Unique and quirky restaurant with amazing coffee. Saturday is rammed which meant our food took +45 mins, that was the only thing that bothered us. Cost wise it was about £40 per head with 2 drinks each so a little on the pricey side. The menu was unique, local and seasonal. Their meat is locally sourced and their dishes are original and well prepared.

This is a pretty place, the chalets lovely as long as you sit in the sun. We had 2 coffees and 1cheesecake with lemon ricotta, it was delicious but not outstanding. When I went to pay I was asked "2 cheesecakes?" When I said "No", I was asked "Are you sure?" However I later saw on my bank statement I was charged a whopping £17! On reading the reviews I see there is a 12.5% service charge! For what?? I shan't return, that's greedy for poor service.

We had tea and cake here in the afternoon and it was lovely! We sat out in one of the courtyard areas which was a lovely space. Our friends had lunch here the day before and said it was really good and the staff super friendly and helpful, which they were when we went back for afternoon tea. It was towards the end of the day and very quiet when we went and the service was very quick.

Perfect spot to dive into between Films @ the 32nd Chichester International Film Festival. A real Rabbit Warren, but great food. On this occasion the now ubiquitous "Smashed Avocado" with feta, beets and added bacon. Transforms any veggie meal. Lovely atmosphere and beautiful outdoor seating. I am glad we booked in advance because we would’ve struggled to get a seat. While the prices are high, they mostly reflect the quality as the ingredients are locally sourced and fresh. My salad was very good. As a warning, the add-ons are expensive. From our experience, the prices do not reflect the quantity you get - we paid £4 for added chorizo and while it is an expensive ingredient 7 tiny pieces was underwhelming. I would like to mention our excellent server Millie - she went the extra mile for us and was very attentive and friendly so thank you!

A colourful, vibrant and welcoming place with a great ethos. 75%+ locally sourced produce and all dishes made from scratch. We had the opportunity to pop into The Barn for lunch. Looking at the entrance from East Street it looks quite small but as soon as you step inside it is a "Tardis". A series of rooms that lead into a courtyard with outside seating. A lovely menu with lots of choice. We were seated in the shade in one of the chalets. The food was fabulous, I had the aubergine shawama and my partner the venison burger. When we walked through the door there was a selection of delicious cakes and for desert we were tempted by the carrot cake and chocolate and hazelnut torte. Good food, locally sourced and supporting the slow food movement. Quite a gem.

Tried The Barn for early supper last night, they are opening on Friday evenings for a couple of months. We have been here for breakfast, coffee, lunch a number of times so hoped dinner would be good. It was excellent, food was delicious, not a huge menu but options, clearly a very good chef and good quality ingredients - we both had garlicky cannellini beans / balsamic onion / pancetta on sourdough followed by smoked trout / roast pots / fennel. English sparkling wine. We really enjoyed it and will be going again - recommend.

My partner and I were searching for a decent breakfast/brunch establishment in Chichester and hoped we had found it in Barn Little. Sadly it wasn’t to be, a combination of dour looking staff, rather uninspiring surroundings (dusty and unclean) and pretty dreadful food, means the search continues. I had the Kedgeree, which was dry and grainy with a rice which gave the impression of being undercooked. I suspect it was whole grain (not advertised as such), Kedgeree for me is a light fluffy, flaky fish, curry flavoured dish, with hard boiled egg as a garnish…this had none of the characteristics of said dish. (£16 for what was a small plate is hugely steep especially when the quality is poor) My partner had the smashed avocado on sourdough toast, sadly the bread was stale and too tough for my partner to cut. I was asked to oblige, which made her feel a tad childlike in having someone cut up her food. The staff, whom I felt for did not look happy at their work, enquired as to our opinion of the food. After appraising them of my disappointment I was advised that they were waiving the service charge. Given our experience I would not have paid it anyway. We left hugely disappointed and vowing never to return, I am very fair minded and rarely write a negative comment unless deserved…sorry Barn Little but you failed miserably.

Excellent serving staff, let down by a grumpy manager. I had two delicious eggs on a slice of toast that posed a threat to the teeth. The bread had probably been good when fresh, but produced rock-hard toast. The bacon was also hard, but I couldn't complain as I'd asked for it to be well done. My friend had a glass of red wine he found undrinkable and categorized as vinegary. I tasted it and found it slightly oxidized, but suspected it had never been much good, even when the bottle was first opened. The charming waitress said she'd ask her manager about it. The manager came back to say she'd tasted the same wine and couldn't find anything wrong with it. When the bill came, we were surprised to see it contain £8 for the undrunk wine, and while paying, I commented that it would have cost them very little to omit it, and avoided giving us a poor impression. The manager knocked over a cutlery tray by one till, and after complaining at whoever left it there, proceeded to pick up the cutlery, ignoring the queue waiting to pay at the other till. My comment about being charged for undrinkable wine must have got back to the manager, because she told my friend that she'd make a refund, but said it in a way that negated the PR benefit that it could have generated. Perhaps she was just having a bad day, but I shan't take the chance of going back.

Visiting Chichester for a mooch and looking for a place to have lunch in the sun we happily discovered 'The barn Chichester'. Staff were friendly, inviting and not overly rude like the other reviews have left.. I was very surprised to see such comments left on other reviews as everyone seemed lovely. Relaxed atmosphere with a quirky decor, we didn't book but staff were more than happy to find seating for us outside where we'd requested to be ideally. I was told recently they've updated their menu, everything seems delicious. I picked the Sourdough cheese, leek toastie with chutney on the side and my other half picked the brioche bun with egg and bacon. Really yummy and we'd happily come here again on our next visit to Chichester. The price is very reasonable and expected for an independent business, I have been to chain cafés with similar prices and less tasty food so absolutely nothing to complain about with the pricing. There was a service charge included in the bill but we were happy to pay this. Upon paying i mentioned I would leave a review as it means so much to a small businesses, I can't stress how lovely this hidden gem was to find. A cinnamon bun was also picked up to go upon leaving! Thank you very much for the experience, Katelyne x

Very underwhelmed. Sat out the back from where you hear loud staff conversation and two different music sources clash. Friendly waiter took my order straight away, and while I was waiting for it to arrive, I read that a 12.5% service charge would be added to my bill. Seems a bit ‘Ryanair’. Far better to just state the prices. Anyway, I needn’t have worried as I didn’t get to pay, sat reading for twenty minutes and my coffee and cake didn’t arrive, so went elsewhere.

I really love this place and have been a nunber of times. However, every time I have been the waiting time has been long. We waited about twenty minutes for our drinks, and it must have been an hour before our food arrived. Staff never apologise for the wait and never explain why it is taking so long. People have better things to do on a Saturday than twiddle their thumbs waiting. It’s not as if what we ordered was difficult - how long does it take to put a salad together?

Wonderful find! There are two separate buildings with entrances in different streets (coffee and cakes bar in East Street, restaurant with indoor seating and outdoor cabins in Little London); the two are shortly to be internally linked. The restaurant menu offers a lot of interesting items that you'd be hard pushed to find together elsewhere. There are also quite a few traditional favourites and Australian (!) coffee by Mel Bourne! This is an interesting and innovative restaurant featuring great food mainly sourced from the nearby Goodwood Estate. There is only daytime service but also a themed monthly supper club. Lunch is a little dearer than most, but well worth multiple visits - do try it!

I called in for coffee and a pastry as my preferred spot was busy and noisy, having heard good things about the coffee. The coffee was indeed pleasant. The cafe is decorated in the 'shabby chic' style; junk shop furniture and ganny's china, which is very discordant and somewhat distracting. Some of the waiting staff are rather loud. Although overpriced the food is lovely. However, our last visit was ruined by an extremely patronising staff member! Firstly, one of the older members of staff was rude and sarcastic to a young waitress, making her visibly embarrassed in front of us. Secondly, this same older member of staff made a very patronising comment to my younger sister (only 15 years old) who had brought in a bottle of drink she purchased elsewhere, implying that we lacked “etiquette”. This made us all feel very uncomfortable and has deterred us from visiting again. I understand establishments may not allow other products to be brought in, however, there is a way to go about this politely and without the sarcasm, especially to a young group of girls.

It’s looks like such a nice cafe but the reality is the wait to order anything is long, the wait for drink and food is longer if you aren’t completely ignored and then you basically need to go up to a till to ask to pay if you have any chance of paying for your bill at all. I wouldn’t mind if I was paying cheap prices but for the expensive food the service is not good at all and the staff make you feel like you are an inconvenient interruption to their chats about life and nights out.

When I saw that scrambled eggs on sourdough was £11 and Welsh rarebit was £14, I would have to agree with him. Plus £3.50 for a small can of ginger ale. I was expecting something special for the price, but the eggs were just okay. Nothing special and not seasoned enough, and the portion was small. Plus they added a non discretionary service charge of 12.5%. So, over £32 for eggs on toast, posh cheese on toast and a small drink. I call that profiteering. We won't be back.

I was recently in Chichester and came across ‘The Barn Townhouse’ on the main parade of shops in towns the High Street. I complimented them on the vast variety of delicious treats they had an offer. I was asked if I had visited ‘The Barn Little London’, unfortunately I have not. However, it will be on my priority list the next time I visit Chichester. Within the townhouse was a fantastic range of pastries, sweet treats and huge sourdough breads. Investigating further, they also have chocolate with great flavour (I bought the coconut and almond), pasta, pizza, sauces, oils and crockery. I could have easily spent a small fortune. I will be informing all of my friends that they have to visit this new and up-and-coming eatery/shop! I was served by two wonderful ladies, who informed me of where they got their produce, persuaded me to indulge in the almond croissant and we chatted as if we had already become firm friends. Describing everyone as friendly, would be an understatement. I was beyond excited to try the seeded sourdough when I got home. I cannot wait for my next visit.

If I could give this amazing place more that 5 stars I would. Situated in a beautiful, central and historic part of Chichester, The Barn is an outstanding brunch spot and with a charming, international feel. Pioneers of the Slow Food movement supporting local produce and wellness, the food, served on vintage crockery was spectacular. The menu was intriguing, with world influences including nods to Persian cuisine, which I really loved. The ambience was buzzing but relaxed - we were sat in one of their beautiful rustic barns. Although the service was slow the staff were truly amazing, and the owner Emma who was lovely took the time to talk with us. The Barn is also dog friendly which was lovely as our party included a beautiful four legged friend who was given a lot of love by staff and other customers. Finally we spend some time in their shop and took home some amazing groceries for the larder. Highly recommended

Wow! The food is amazing. The house wine perfect. And the fun, light and easy atmosphere was fab - in no small part thanks to Harriet, the resident 'personality'! We had a ball. I have been back 3 times in 2 weeks! It's not cheap, but it's high quality, tasty and interesting food. Did I mention the 'house red' ?!!

Had a belated Mother’s Day lunch and it was delicious! Line caught tuna with piccalilli. Red cabbage, green salad and Brie with a hunk of fresh bread, yum! They also sell lots of interesting provisions to take home for another day

Warning to contractors: I was brought in to work on the store's piano as a tuner, but found the instrument was in a far worse condition than I was informed. I spent two trips equalling almost 7 hours of work on the instrument, but the condition was a situation that I could not remedy as a tuner, and made suggestions of where to get a technician and wrote a comprehensive report of issues with the instrument, cleaned and tuned as well as the instrument would take. After invoicing a slightly reduced fee (I couldn't fix some of the issues, which I was up front about to the staff), I received no contact from anyone at the restaurant, despite multiple chasers and requests and even handing an invoice in person! A shame, the wait staff were lovely and accommodating, but management appear to be greedy and unwilling to even discuss with me about the fee once I had spent an insignificant amount of time on site. This was a visit back in January, and I am still trying to contact them to no avail. Highly recommend not doing any contract work for this establishment without a deposit payment up front.

This was a firm favourite - but the last two visits have not been good and we will not be going back. They squeeze a lot of people into a small space. The wait is REALLY long - even to get your first drink, and...

Shown to a table immediately despite no booking - there were long waits for menus - giving the order and for the food to arrive. The surroundings are very eclectic and a tad drafty as staff are constantly in and out to the courtyard and...

Emma and her team organised the most fantastic wedding celebration for us. The food was delicious, service incredible and the environs was so perfect. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Barn for any events!

Good environment and the locally sourced ingredients is a plus. However it is too pricey.

The Aussie Style Jewish Challah French Toast is to die for!! Best breakfast ever. Sarah our waitress is exceptionally passionate about the food and experience. Will definitely be back. So good to eat somewhere where you feel the staff care.

After ordering, we waited 45 mins for the food to arrive. Two senior members of staff apologised for the delay, explained the short staff problem and offered us drinks (which we already had) on the house. When it came to pay, the bill did not...

Can't comment on food only really have hot drinks. The staff are efficient and friendly, drinks are well made with a good range of seasonal drinks.

Ordered 3 breakfasts the first arrived minus hash browns and no cutlery, waited 5 minutes for cutlery by which time food was getting cold, was told hash browns would be soon, second meal arrived poached eggs cold and more like hard boiled, 3rd dish arrived poached eggs again over cooked, still no hash browns, asked again and 1 hash brown arrived in a pot which was delivered with a surly attitude, not once did anyone ask if the food was ok. Very poor food and the staff looked disinterested, for £48 I would expect better quality food and service.
