Went there for a Sunday carvery with the family, fantastic play area for the kids, so much for them to do! We had a carvery, 1 mix grill and 2 kids meals, all was a good portion and the food was delicious. Dog friendly also.

Fantastic!! Stopped here for dinner, friendly service, good portions, food arrived quickly and cooked to perfection. My steak was melt in the mouth and a perfect med-rare. Also plenty of park space for the little ones. Cannot fault this place for its dining experience.

I like this place, lovely views, nice food, nice atmosphere, great play park for kids, and you can bring the dog, what's not to like?

We managed to reserve a table for 8 of us last minute despite the place being rammed. We've always had a lovely meal here and this time did not disappoint. Two of our party had cod and chips - the cod was huge and hanging over the plate! The gammon came with pineapple and eggs and plenty of chips, the beef lasagne was very generous and the broccoli and stilton lasagne to die for! A mostly young staff, very helpful and polite. A lovely evening!

We arrived at 5.30 on a Friday. The place was almost empty. We were turned away. The wight mouse at Chale moved things around so we could eat. 6 of us. Spent just over £100 in two hours.

Ordered food ok , when it came out was the completely the wrong food until i said when it got served , i did not get told by no staff to say that the kitchen made a mistake i had to ask to find out what was going on with my food. Pretty poor if you knew the kitchen made a mistake should be told to the customer when they are waiting for there food! Apart from the food being late it was good!

Food was rubbish and the waitress was rude .Get rid of the cook because he or she is not a chef and the waitress should go and find a job stacking shelfs where she dose not have to talk to any one. gook luck for the winter.

Good food and very child friendly

On holiday at Rookley Park this week. Ate here twice this week and went into a food coma both times. Great food and very good value.

Second visit to this lovely family-friendly pub. It has a great play area outside. We all had the carvery again and it was just as good as last time. Really good choices of meat and vegetables and it was so tasty. Really friendly staff and really great service. The creme brulee was good and so was the sticky toffee pudding although it came with minimal custard. Kids brownie was a decent size and it was good they could have the carvery too. The apple and berry crumble lacked flavour although the crumble topping was nice. We would definitely return here on our next island visit. Great place.

Can’t comment on rooms as did not stay but can definitely comment on the service, miserable woman uttering things under her breath when serving my wife and I, safe to say will not be returning and that a shame as we did enjoy our food despite being on the pricier side of pub food.

A lovely stay. Lovely food breakfast and evening meal

Stayed for a night as we were attending a wedding nearby. The room was very comfortable and very well appointed. Very comfortable bed, lots a nice towels, good hospitality tray in the bedroom. Breakfast perfect. Most of all staff were really helpful and pleasant.

It would have been a 5 star 🌟 but every time we went to the small bar in the middle of the pub people were smoking cigarettes and the staff were turning a blind eye

We stopped here for dinner after a great long day. The food was very tasty and the service was very friendly. However, it is not for people who like to eat in peace as the pub is right next to the dining room and it is generally very loud, but that didn't bother us.

Stopped off here for lunch, had a nice ciabatta. Very high quality food, nice overall feel of the place, and overall just nice.

Food portions were generous, lovely staff, loved the fact that tbey have steak on the children's menu, my 8 year old son ordered the steak and said “it was amazing” and he didn't want any veg or beans so the chef gave him extra mash. Definitely recommend especially for family's.

I ordered some loaded nachos as a 'lite bite' as opposed to a 'main meal'. The portion size was obscene! Far too much for what was supposed to be a 'lite bite'. Even too much for a main meal. The chef/owner really need to sort this out. Oversized portions are really off-putting. I won't be coming back here.

Stoped here for a meal, it’s a strange set up in the fact the whole pub is a one way system where you are treated in a little bar area before getting taken through to a larger area to be seated. This is before you have even had time to see a menu or had time to work out if you like the feel of the place, just felt a bit of a pressure sell. Never felt that in a pub before, very strange.

This is the best pub we have visited for a long time. Something to suit the whole family. There is a very big selection of food, including on the kids menu (which is often limited). Everything was delicious and very good quality - we especially recommend the sticky toffee pudding!). Ale on tap suited a couple in our group, the service was brilliant, and the kids were delighted with the extensive playground and small games room). There is also a separate family dining area and adult area for those who want a more peaceful experience!

We were looking for a nice carvery unfortunately we were a bit disappointed as the food was dry and the gravy was far too thick.

Very good experience, big and comfotable room and very clean toilet. Lovely lady served us breakfast, we couldn't finish the breakfast because portions were big, lady even packed the leftover for us. Highly Recomended for families.

We had a family lunch on a Saturday and had great food and service, generous portions and it’s a lovely pub.

One of the best pubs I've been to, highly recommend the oh my cod burger and their specials never fail to impress me.

Been here several times now for the Sunday carvery and it’s very good. However if you order a child’s portion £8.25 you get the same size plate as a small meat carvery £13.

We are first time campervanners and also first timers to the IOW. The Chequers Inn was a last minute stop over and the pitch was perfect. Hard standing electric and water. Food and service was excellent, good value for money. Evening meal and breakfast. Will definitely visit again

Beautiful food best fish and chips we have had on the island, we are islanders so have had a few .

We had the buffet style carvery, the meat was a little fatty, however there was a good selection of vegetables. Service was pleasent.

Empty pub, not great service, limp and tired looking salad, when someone eventually came over, I showed him the salad, no apology, brought out more salad, which was no better. Very disappointed, over priced and not great.

Friendly welcome and excellent food. Only criticism is lighting is not very good but thank you. We'll definitely be back.

Can't comment on the rooms but I'm sure they're lovely. Really lovely lunch the waitresses were very sweet and polite. Food was quickly served after ordering and wow definitly value for money on the portion sizes. And a very family friendly place. Will definitly be returning again!

A lovely little country pub with a dedicated restaurant room. All the usual pub grub standards but with some great specials and twists on the classics. And local beers.

Not as expected, small portions, belly pork crackling was not crispy was served with a little mash and few dark greens,for the money it needs a dish of veg included, fish on the light bite was like a fish finger size, macaroni cheese was very small, despite this the presentation was ok and staff always friendly

Absolutely wonderful from start to finish! Good was impeccable and reasonably priced, staff were welcoming from the get go. Rosie and Jess went the extra mile to make sure our time was enjoyable and our children were looked after! We will definitely be returning here, 30 years of coming to the island and we are still finding amazing gems like this!

We’ve just had the Sunday carvery and it was absolutely delicious. A choice of 4 meats and a small plate (£13) or large plate (£17.25). Everything was absolutely lovely and they even had carrot and swede mash which is a big bonus! Would definitely recommend but so book as it obviously gets full up :)

Had a nice refit since my last visit (about 20 years ago), would definitely return and try the food next time I’m on the island.

Chequers never ceases to delight us. We using diner with 3 to 4 generation’s of our family because: 1. The high quality of the food Burgers, roast, Children’s meals, dirty fries, brownies and crumble are some of our favourite choices 2. The diversity of meal size Regular, small and Children’s - even roasts offer this choice and caters so well for all appetites and all ages and stages 3. Great drinks menu - including lots of non alcoholic drinks including zero ginuess and gin! 4. The fabulous setting, including the best outdoor pub play area on our Island. We visit regularly and would recommend booking as it can get business in season and on Sundays especially.

This is a really lovely pub with great food and fantastic helpful staff. The play area for children was lovely and a great way for my two to burn off some excess energy! The only thing that let our experience down was the parking, it was chaos and needed better organising. Also there was no dedicated disabled parking or entrance. This made getting our elderly grandmother who is in a wheelchair extremely awkward. If some dedicated disabled parking on flat level ground and some signage to guide disabled guests into the establishment could be arranged, this would be a 5 star review, in this day and age poor disabled facilities are really unacceptable!

Although a loud environment, the food and service was lovely, we had variations of burgers and enjoyed the grease free meals. However, the drinks felt quite pricy.

Made welcome as a family, no pressure to order so we could enjoy a drink whilst choosing. Excellent menu, food was delicious, all round great place.

We certainly recommend this place. The Chequers Inn has good food, it is in a really good location to have as a base to see the Island, it has a nice selection of beer (the wine menu didn't look too bad either) and our room was large with a comfy bed (always important) and the staff we're really nice.

Came to the IOW to re-live some amazing childhood memories of this incredible place. And to say this place completely added to that is an understatement. Probably the best pub food we have ever had. I would literally come over to the IOW just to eat here. 5 STARS 🤩

Nice place just stumbled upon it, wife had the carvery which was good and as you can see I was a bit boring and went for the ham egg and chips which to be fair was very good.

We visited this lovely pub recently whilst in the Isle of Wight, and we absolutely loved the food! The chips were incredible and all of the food had a comforting, homemade feel to it. The ambience was nice and the staff were attentive. We were lucky to have this pub down the road from where we were staying.

It's a really nice place to visit. Service and drinks are awesome. The young lady who was behind the bar is a super star 🌟

Nice food but I found it very expensive for what we had.

We have been for a carvery many times it’s a lovely pub and the carvery is first class. However, went there mid week and it was a completely different experience. Had the crispy shredded beef to start, the flavour was great, but half of the meal was hot, the rest of it was tepid. Went for the mussels and chips for a main course, which was a mistake. Flavour wasn’t great and the mussels were so overcooked they were tough and dry. Left half of the main course. Unfortunately the staff weren’t forward thinking enough to do something about it so I paid the bill and left. Very disappointed, given our experiences when we have a carvery. Would have given 1 star if it wasn’t for the Sunday carvery which lifted the score.

We had a big family celebration, & booked a table for the carvery. The carvery was outstanding, the service was excellent & the atmosphere, setting was fabulous. Can't wait to go again on the 26th x

Mother’s Day evening. Warm and cosy on a damp day. Table booked last minute. Good food and service. At a reasonable price. Scampi & chips burgers & chips .

We stayed here two nights last weekend and couldn’t have picked a better hotel to have our stay! The rooms were really comfortable, and very clean, staff were really friendly and welcoming! Breakfast was really good and we also had an evening meal here which tasted amazing! We left here Sunday morning and I realised once home I’d left a very valuable wash bag in my room. By Tuesday morning it was back at my house! And I would like to say a huge thankyou to whoever sorted this! I’m so grateful! We will be returning 100%! Brilliant hotel, staff and restaurant in a perfect location!

Have a mixed review. My food was decent but my wife's was completely overcooked. Ordered medium rare steak, it arrived well done.

This is the perfect country pub. It is stylish and clean and the food is excellent, but it is not in the slightest pretentious or ‘gastro’. We ate a delicious dinner, stayed in an extremely comfortable, well decorated and well maintained, family room and ate a hearty, gourmet standard, breakfast featuring local produce. The rate for the room and breakfast was so reasonable it seemed wrong not to be paying more. Best of all, the staff were unusually friendly, welcoming and good with our three, often boisterous, children. They even rang us ahead of our arrival to warn that there was a party being held in the pub the evening of our arrival and letting us know that it might be noisy (which it was not!). I could not recommend this hotel and restaurant more highly.

First visit here in a while and I was impressed. Seated near the bar, a log burning fire - very cozy and atmospheric (although it has the main entrance with lots of people trapping through - not too bad though). Food was served quickly and by polite staff. Great food and overall a nice atmosphere.

We visited on the first day of our holiday and were made to feel very welcome. The girl on the bar said we could sit anywhere and was very pleasant. Unfortunately our second visit was far less welcoming. We walked in and heard the young lad on the bar say to his colleague, "They're not sitting in here r they?" We were then told that as we were only having drinks we had to sit on the ten seater table tucked away behind the bar. There were only 5 of us. Two other men had been having just drinks in the area we walked in. The pub was very quiet and we couldn't see anybody eating. We won't be returning.

We have had some lovely meals and the carvery is delicious. The problem is though that on a couple of ocassions we’ve had some bad meals. The latest was today, my family had the lamb shank and the beef lasagne of which they said was amazing. Unfortunately i chose the vegan Sweet potato and spinach lasagne was not good. the pasta was stodgy, very little spinach and dry. Im not sure we will want to return which is such a shame because we struggle to find places to eat with wheelchair access.

Good Food and Attentive Service. I would recommend a visit. Nice atmosphere and plenty to choose off the menu. I very amused by the funny names for the burgers!

Food was amazing. Staff were friendly and very polite. The beef and pepper salad was cooked perfectly, lamb shank was melt in the mouth and the white chocolate mouse was a surprise but was amazing 👏 at first I thought it was a little costly, but after eating the food 😍 worth every penny 😋

Food was excellent and a vast choice. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Very slight whinge was we ordered the Focaccia bread for a party of 4 and they send out a standard portion of 3 slices of bread. A snicky way of getting the customer to buy another standard portion. Would recommend and will be definately be back
