Disappointing meal. Very small deli fish n chip portion wouldn’t fill a 2 year old. Cheese not melted and sunk in to the bread. Not enough crab in the sandwich for £13. Not very efficient service. Wouldn’t recommend.

We booked for 19:00 on a Friday. The pub is in the lively part of Yarmouth. We were sat close to the bar and there were a lot of blokes drinking and making a bit of noise. Nothing at all untoward but not conducive to a cosy meal for two. We were served a drink fairly quickly by a friendly lady and our order was then taken in reasonable time. We had the steak pie and sea bass in a light curry sauce with chick peas and basmati rice. My wife’s pie was very decent, but my curry sauce was so light as to be basically tasteless and the rice had clearly been cooked in unsalted water. Not good. We waited an age to order dessert and it took a further age to arrive. My wife’s vegan cheesecake was very good but my cherry bakewell bread and butter pudding was almost devoid of sweetness, although the custard was good. On asking for the bill we had to wait again, and I then saw the young girl we had asked chatting away to her mate at the bar. I asked another member of staff and got the bill straight away. 2 hours for a 2 course meal of average quality is not good enough. I would not be tempted to return.

Awful restaurant I wish I had looked on this platform before entering this place. This place is very near the ferry terminal. We had over an hour from arriving in the inn, to boarding the ferry which should have been plenty of time. As we were taken to our table I said we said that we had a ferry to catch. Even with this much time, the food did not arrive until 5 minutes before we needed to leave. My food was overcooked and inedible. My partner could only eat a few mouthfuls of his before we had to leave. Avoid this place.

Booked for lunch for my wife’s birthday as she had been before with friends and said it was great. Arrives at one, it wasn’t busy, but still seemed quite a lot of people eating, service from the second we walked in was friendly and unobtrusive, ordered drinks at the table and decided on the bisque and bao buns to start, and both having the 3 meat roast for main. Starters arrived within 10 minutes and were very good. The bisque was silky and ful of seafood, apparently the bao buns were superb, but I never got a taste. We ordered more drinks and the roasts arrived, all I can say is that it was incredible, probably the best roast I’ve had on the island, the pork beef and lamb were cooked beautifully, crispy potatoes, lovely Yorkshire, a great selection of veg and really thick flavoursome gravy. Couldn’t do desert as we were so full, but might skip the starter next week as they looked lovely on the table next to us.

The food at this establishment is mediocre at best and overpriced for what you receive. To add to the disappointment, our order was delivered incorrectly, which was frustrating. It took a considerable amount of time for the staff to rectify the mistake, further diminishing the experience. The atmosphere left much to be desired, with an overall lousy ambiance that did not contribute to a pleasant dining experience. Given the combination of subpar food, high prices, service issues, and an uninspiring atmosphere, I would not recommend dining here.

We went inside for lunch after arriving at Yarmouth on the ferry. The large sign outside, 2 pizzas salad and chips deal, attracted us. When placing order appeared we didn’t see a small script, available between 3 and 5 pm. I found that very cheeky but we decided to stay. Son ordered New York pizza and chips and I ordered Fungus pizza. The pizzas were gigantic. NY pizza was delicious but Fungus pizza was completely covered in thick and greasy cheese. I had one small slice and my son had one slice and I couldn't face to have more as it felt extra unhealthy and not really tasty. I asked the staff to take it away and swap it for a ball of salad. They were understanding and replaced my dish with a large bowl of salad. Basically, our experience on the Isle of Wight was, that all dishes were large. We stayed at the Inn for longer as the rain came and we needed to collect bicycles. The staff was lovely and we ordered a couple more drinks.

My partner had the mini mezze which was tasteless and the “crudités “ consisted of dried out carrot sticks, dried out cucumber sticks, and celery that was so old the outside was actually slimy! Can’t believe the chef let this come out of the kitchen. The waiter was very apologetic and we were not charged for this dish. I never complain about food, but this was totally unacceptable. I pointed this out to staff who took it away but never offered an explanation or apology. Sandwich was 12.00. not cheap I expected much higher quality than that. I felt insulted. I pointed out to waitress who agreed apologised and took it away. On leaving they were serving the salad again liquidised and I hope the customers made their feelings known.

The sunday roast was decent value - the meat was old school pub rather than modern gastro, but the price reflects this. Veggies were well cooked and plentiful. I always enjoy a meal here. Very nice staff and cosy surroundings, especially during the winter months. Dog friendly too. A decent garden area. There's a bar and a grill/pizza area this summer. There is street parking (for 1 hour, 8am to 6pm), a small carpark by the pier and a large carpark just outside the town. The majority of the pub is wheelchair accessible. It's worth booking in summer if you want a meal, as it's very popular with boat owners using the marina.

The Bugle seemed a very quirky & inviting place when we first arrived. Very disappointed with all three meals we ordered. Steak cooked medium rare as requested but was so chewy & my partners jaw was still aching from the chewing the next day & I would have expected a better quality steak considering the cost. My daughters pizza was black & burnt all around the edges so about a third of it was left on the plate. My lasagne was so tasteless that I ate about three forkfulls. Nobody came & checked on us to ask during the meal whether everything was ok - even the waitress who cleared the table didn't ask if everything was ok with the meals even though it was obvious from the amount of food left on our plates that everything was not ok. We actually had to bring to her attention how unhappy we were with all three meals. We asked for our bill & were gobsmacked to find they had added a 10% service charge - no wonder it stated optional so we obviously didn't pay that. Drinks were fine but I wish we'd just stuck to a drink. We had had fantastic lunches & evening meals every day on the Isle of Wight so it was such a shame that all three of our meals at The Bugle were so unacceptable & nobody even the gentleman I presume was the manager offered any apology.

Stayed the night here and probably the worst room I’ve ever stayed in. The room in rafters is in dire need of some money and attention. The bed was very uncomfortable the sheet had a stain on but conveniently hidden under the pillow so decided not to complain. The wall not only had a dirty hand print on the wall next to the old mirror eww, the walls had run stains and the dressing table was a foot long shelf. The tv was impossible to watch from the bed. The bathroom needed 2 coats of paint to cover an awful first coat and a hot tap that needs to work on the sink. The bath had a shower hose but because you were in the roof with a low ceiling slanted you couldn’t stand and shower. Our towels were left in the hallway outside so had get them ourselves. The bar meal we had in the evening was ok but my chips were Luke warm. The chairs were wooden with no cushions so got fidgety very soon. When the bill came service charge was added and if we didn’t want to pay it we had to ask for it to be taken off which I thought was too presumptious. Sleep was broken and next morning we were rudely awoken with someone tipping the glass bottles into a bin outside. On checking out we came down the stairs and we were pounced on by a little angry man who shouted can I help you? As if we had just walked into his private quarters. I replied we would like to check out and he literally went to unlock the door and motioned us out. That was when I knew there was no point complaining we could see he didn’t give a stuff if we had had a good stay or not.

When I received the bill, it stated the wrong gin, so I asked the waitress and she said he told her he had swapped it for me. I’m unsure why he didn’t tell the truth to myself or his colleague. We sat outside and had 3 children's burger meals, with extra cheesy chips which were a definite hit, while the 2 adults had hunters chicken. The food was hot and very nice with almost clean plates all round. The only reason that wasn't all clean plates was because we were stuffed as the portions were plentiful! The food is good traditional pub food. The inn does get very busy in the evenings but they can normally fit you in if you are a guest. However, the reason for the 3 rather than 4 stars is that on our last night, there was very loud music which could be heard unacceptably loud in the room. It did end at 11, but in my view it was still unacceptable. So if you just want food and drink, you will probably have a good meal in a pleasant atmosphere. Really terrible. My husband and I were out for a long walk and stopped in for lunch. The pizza reminded me of what I used to make with my kids 40 years ago—sauce straight out of a bottle, crust with all the taste and texture of a saltine cracker. My husband’s ham and cheese ploughman’s lunch arrived a good 15 minutes later than mine and included what he described as the worst quality ham he had ever seen in a restaurant. So…this place can’t do ‘trendy’ food (pizza!), can’t do standard pub food (ploughman’s) and can’t deliver them at the same time. We will never return.

Pizzas were undercooked. The texas steak skewered didn't have any flavour at all, not sure if they forgot the BBQ flavour it was supposed to be coated in and side salad with it came with no dressing. Disappointing food which was overpriced, such a shame.

We were told that we couldn't order any food because we did not book a table, hello, four of us were already sitting at a table having drinks. Went to the bar again because we were flabbergasted, explaining that one of our group is actually staying at the bugle in one of their rooms and he couldn't even have a meal there. Under duress it was eventually agreed to see what they can do for us! We were grateful that our order was taken and we did enjoy the meal. What a palava, three of us are local by the way.

Stopped in Yarmouth for some lunch, unfortunately the Cafe we had used before had a sign saying sorry they were full, Opposite the Square we saw the Bugle so thought we would give it a try, We first went to the bar and bought two drinks, A beer and a glass of Rose Wine £13, We then ordered two Prawn baguette's, one to be Gluten Free, Mine consisted of a very stodgy roll with a few prawns and a spoonful of salad, The Wife`s Gluten free roll cost £1.50extra for a Small roll even less prawns and a spoonful of salad, a seriously expensive pile of rubbish,

Disappointing staff. Expensive. Asked for a poached egg to go on my gammon instead of pineapple. Told no the chef won’t do that. Asked to see the chef, who was curt at best. Telling me they don’t keep eggs!!! Really

Stayed in a room here last minute. Clean, welcoming and spacious. Small issue that as we were at the top of the building the water pressure was low, otherwise all good.

Disappointing. Been coming here for years and have always been impressed with the food which, for a pub, was above average in terms of quality and choice. This time though, the menu was very (too) short. Meals were overpriced as the food was very average...

Big coffee shop with lots of customers but only 2 girls to serve and clear up and one girl out back. All the empty tables were covered in rubbish and dirty cups and plates, and the toilets were horrific as they clearly don't have the staff to keep the place clean or clear tables.

We had a poor dining experience, one meal in particular, the stir fry chicken was very strange with slices of raw tomato and bottled silverside onions. The other meals were indifferent, chips not really hot, a real bugbear with me as it's something that's so easy to get right. They close tomorrow until March so were obviously just not that bothered and keen to get off home. It's a shame as it's an attractive venue with live music and a real nautical vibe.

Very spacious and interesting pub! Lots of people were queuing at the bar, but it's quicker to find a table and order with the Wetherspoon app. I didn't eat here so I can't comment, but I'm sure it would've been the same good quality that you get at any Spoons.
