Beautiful pub on the beach. We tried to go a few years ago and it was HEAVING so never got in. So glad we tried again today. They were so kind as to squeeze in our group of 10 with no hesitation, the food was perfect and servers lovely. No table service but it is a pub I suppose so we didn’t mind! Had the seafood platter special. Crab was sublime. And even better a view of the sea out the window. Love it here.

The Old Neptune in Whitstable is nothing short of a seaside gem. Nestled right on the beach, its location offers one of the most spectacular sea views you could hope for. Whether you're basking in the glow of a summer sunset or enjoying the refreshing coastal air on a crisp winter day, the pub's picturesque setting is truly unmatched. Inside, the atmosphere is wonderfully lively and welcoming, with a charming rustic decor that speaks to its history and seaside character. It’s always buzzing with energy, and while it’s often packed, that only adds to the vibrant and friendly vibe. The staff are quick, attentive, and keep things moving efficiently even when the place is busy. The drinks menu is extensive, catering to all tastes. From well-pulled pints of local ales to a wide array of spirits, ciders, and wines, there’s something for everyone. This pub is more than just a place for a drink; it’s a community hub and a slice of coastal paradise. Whether you’re a Whitstable local or just visiting, the Old Neptune promises a memorable experience with its unbeatable combination of charm, atmosphere, and stunning views. Highly recommended 👌

Went in on a cold November day and was greeted by a warm log burner fire and a cheery welcome. Got our selves a couple of hot chocolates to warm us through after a brisk walk along the sea front. We didn't order food as we didn't have much time but the menu looked fab with great prices. I wish we could have stayed. It's very cosy and compact but great views of the sun setting. Parking is an issue here so you will have to find somewhere nearby to park.

Very disappointing meal here today. Hardly any chips served, honestly a small handful and I am not exaggerating. The box the food came in was huge. Then to the seafood of whitebait, calamari, scampi and prawns. This was dry, frozen, Iceland type £1 meals. £16.50 for that! I wish I had read the reviews prior and just had a pint. Nice atmosphere and location but would not return for the food.

A warm and welcoming pub right on the beach. The Neppy is a 19th century pub and one of only a handful of pubs to be found on the beaches of Britain. Plenty of seating outside but it was a little cold so we sat inside the cosy pub and enjoyed a drink and traditional tasty food.

Very disappointing! Extremely pricey considering minuscule portions. The fish served was massive but hardly any chips. Those just receiving chips, box was received half empty. Service also took a good while and no hot drinks were being served? Food also came fairly cold and was not that enjoyable. It was around £15-20 pp.

Great seaside pub with a nice menu. Halloumi burger was great, vegan burger was ok (much better to just go with Beyond Meat or one of those), and the seafood box was excellent. Portions are sensible with a little bit of salad (a little more salad wouldn't hurt). Reasonable prices, long queues, nice atmosphere, friendly service, and it's on the beach, in Whitstable - well worth a visit.

Meal was good but when we have been before, my reviews started as excellent and then moved to very good but now just good mainly due to a decline in the quality of the food and service. However, it is still very popular due to the location which is the best in Whitstable - so I suppose as long as it is still busy, unfortunately things will not change back to previous times.

The fact we went back to Old Neptune 3-4 times during our trip shows how much we enjoyed the place. The location is fantastic, and it's the perfect spot to enjoy the views and do a little people-watching. The beer selection is OK - could use a couple of more modern options - but staff are really friendly and seafood options are good. Most importantly, the vibe is great.

Has to be one of the best places in the country to enjoy a beer as the sun sets. Great atmosphere sitting out on the beach - granted it was a beautiful evening with a hazy sunset. Have read some of the less complimentary reviews, but this is a pub where you come to chill out and watch the sun go down or to have lunchtime fish and chips. It is definitely not a gastropub - it is a proper old school pub and long may it be so. Almost forgot - had some good music last night.

What a great spot by the seaside. Unfortunately the iconic fish&chips were average and super small portion. Staff were very friendly and helpful, until the moment I asked for extra set of cutlery and napkins. Overall nice place which is usually packed. Great views and atmosphere. You come to Whitstable for fresh seafood and that is not what you get here. I ordered the haddock fish cakes and it was deep fried mush akin to a cheap inland chippy. So disappointing, dry, tasteless and the antithesis of what you can get at somewhere like Samphire on the high street. Avoid.

Awful place. Expensive but with no service to justify it. Ordered a bottle of Prosecco and they didn’t bother to open it, or give us an ice bucket. Yes that may sound posh, but when you spend £35 for a bottle you expect that. We weren’t allowed a jug of water and we witnessed an argument over who was serving the ice between the staff. Dinner was served in boxes and we were told to get our own cutlery and sauces. My ‘dressed’ crab was pretty much brown crab with tiny sprinkles of white and it tasted like the dregs of a crab and made me feel sick. Do not read the good reviews. Do not go here. No service, crap and over priced food, no atmosphere. Avoid avoid avoid

Poor attitude from staff, when asked if the waterproof curtain could be pulled across. The waiter said he would have to ask the boss, he came back with "no its only a shower." When we first walked in the staff just didn’t acknowledge us there was no table of 6 available so asked if we could move the table of 2 and table of 4 together as they were next to each other and both free. At first we was told no and then after a bit of explaining we was told we’d have to wait 15 minutes so they could clear the table. There was a tray with a few empty drinks on. 15 mins was up so we all went in and sat down the tray with drinks on was still on the table and the table hadn’t even been wiped. After all getting settled the waitress finally moved the tray and explained they was busy. We ordered drinks and food together. The drinks took 20 minutes to come. I had coke in a bottle and a glass with ice in. My ice was already half melted. Over an hour later our food came out. Burgers were dry. The Mac and cheese was the worst thing I had ever seen. It was like really stodgy porridge and did not taste of cheese at all. Any time we asked the waitress something she just made it seem like we was asking her to go above and beyond for us when really we wasn’t being difficult even in the slightest. At the end we go to pay and they add a 10% service fee without even asking. Why would I want to pay 10% of my nearly £150 bill for a poor and quite disgusting service. The only plus’s side to this place was the decorations, the mayonnaise and the fact they allowed dogs in

We were due to visit the Christmas market and wanted to find a dog friendly pub that served a Sunday roast. We chose the Three Tons not just for its good reviews, but also because their roasts were advertised for £9. We didn't have very high expectations, but how wrong we were! We opted for turkey (there was also beef) and when it was brought out the portions were plentiful, great roast potatoes (I'm very fussy about these!), a good selection of vegetables and it was all really tasty! We were a group of 5 and all our meals and drinks came to less than £60 - amazing value. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and I'd like to make a special mention of the young lady behind the bar who was working very hard but still gave us a very high level of service. They even cooked our (very fussy) dog a portion of chicken! Can't recommend this place highly enough.
