What a lovely restaurant!! A lovely location on the beachside. We had sandwiches and the bread was fresh and thick. It also came with a side of salad and crisps. I don’t normally like salad dressing, but their salad dressing was really nice.

Not sure if it's the signs of the times because society HATES MEN right now but I ordered a blackcurrant cordel and soda and was treated to no smiles the look of disguste by the bar staff was rather hurtful. The effort also in making it was terrible also the guy never asked if I wanted ice and could barely be bothered to present it in a nice way. I had also ordered a lime and soda before hand and was treated with disguste as tho I shouldn't have been there. I'm a 35 year old young Man as if living in Britain and the hate for my gender isn't all ready bad enough this pub had to rub it in even more. Won't be returning any time soon so you got your wish guys.

Excellent pub on Whitstable beach serving local beers, wine, spirits, snacks and a great selection of delicious pub food such as the fish n chips with a pint of Bear Island pale ale 😋👌🏻 relax inside where there's seating, a bar area, friendly staff and not forgetting the outside area with plenty of tables on the beach to take it all in with amazing views after a stroll along the beach! BBQ's in the summer! Highly recommended to go grab a pint, eat some fresh food, meet with family & friends, enjoy some time in this famous pub with a great atmosphere 😃🍻

It's very rare to find a pub in England built right on the coast, so I really was excited to stop in here. The food and the beer were phenomenal. I literally had the best beer I've ever had in my life here, and it was at no other pub in town or anywhere else I've ever been. Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter. Apparently the owner keeps it on tap here, and I think that is a great decision. All the staff were very friendly, they accommodated us when we arrived late by keeping the kitchen open for us. They do trivia night once a week here that seems like a good time. They have a patio out back that offers a great view of the setting Sun over the Thames Estuary. Parking would be an issue, there aren't many spots here. But I feel like a lot of people are within walking distance and the pub is right off of the waterfront trail. It was also a bit more expensive than other pubs, but I can understand that given it's fantastic location and good food.

Have been here a couple of years or so ago and the was fine, nothing more if not a little overpriced. We decided to visit again last week so that we could have food and drinks on the beach, however the staff in this place are awful. We queued up single file to get in and order which is great as this should be easy for the bar staff to serve people in order, but somehow the woman behind the bar decided to serve not one but two people before me who were behind me in the queue. When you’re queueing in a line this really shouldn’t be difficult. Obviously at this point I gave up and left and went somewhere else.

This pub offers a fantastic beer selection and a charming old sailors' pub vibe, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. What truly sets it apart is its stunning beachfront location, with plenty of outdoor space to relax and enjoy a drink while taking in the sea views. It's the perfect spot to spend a sunny afternoon and watch the sunset, making every visit a memorable experience. Whenever I'm in Whitstable, I always make sure to stop by.

Did not eat this time, but noticed recent menu that looks attractive and reasonably, if 'touristy' prices. An iconic venue in this lovely seaside town. We visited at lunchtime for a quick half pint only on a comparatively quiet winter's day (windy, rough waved sea, very cool temperatures, but sunshine too). As a resident of the town for 30+ years now the venue can go from noisy, bursting at the seams, hard-stretched staff, and crowded beach-located outdoor tables (especially on sunny summer weekends) to extremely quiet 'local' (pub) feel on long, cold winter evenings.

The Old Neptune in Whitstable is nothing short of a seaside gem. Nestled right on the beach, its location offers one of the most spectacular sea views you could hope for. Whether you're basking in the glow of a summer sunset or enjoying the refreshing coastal air on a crisp winter day, the pub's picturesque setting is truly unmatched. Inside, the atmosphere is wonderfully lively and welcoming, with a charming rustic decor that speaks to its history and seaside character. It’s always buzzing with energy, and while it’s often packed, that only adds to the vibrant and friendly vibe. The staff are quick, attentive, and keep things moving efficiently even when the place is busy. The drinks menu is extensive, catering to all tastes. From well-pulled pints of local ales to a wide array of spirits, ciders, and wines, there’s something for everyone. This pub is more than just a place for a drink; it’s a community hub and a slice of coastal paradise. Whether you’re a Whitstable local or just visiting, the Old Neptune promises a memorable experience with its unbeatable combination of charm, atmosphere, and stunning views. Highly recommended 👌

Beautiful pub on the beach. We tried to go a few years ago and it was HEAVING so never got in. So glad we tried again today. They were so kind as to squeeze in our group of 10 with no hesitation, the food was perfect and servers lovely. No table service but it is a pub I suppose so we didn’t mind! Had the seafood platter special. Crab was sublime. And even better a view of the sea out the window. Love it here.

Very disappointing meal here today. Hardly any chips served, honestly a small handful and I am not exaggerating. The box the food came in was huge. Then to the seafood of whitebait, calamari, scampi and prawns. This was dry, frozen, Iceland type £1 meals. £16.50 for that! I wish I had read the reviews prior and just had a pint. Nice atmosphere and location but would not return for the food.

Meal was good but when we have been before, my reviews started as excellent and then moved to very good but now just good mainly due to a decline in the quality of the food and service. Has to be one of the best places in the country to enjoy a beer as the sun sets. Great atmosphere sitting out on the beach - granted it was a beautiful evening with a hazy sunset. Have read some of the less complimentary reviews, but this is a pub where you come to chill out and watch the sun go down or to have lunchtime fish and chips. It is definitely not a gastropub - it is a proper old school pub and long may it be so. Almost forgot - had some good music last night.

You come to Whitstable for fresh seafood and that is not what you get here. I ordered the haddock fish cakes and it was deep fried mush akin to a cheap inland chippy. So disappointing, dry, tasteless and the antithesis of what you can get at somewhere like Samphire on the high street. Avoid.

Awful place. Expensive but with no service to justify it. Ordered a bottle of Prosecco and they didn’t bother to open it, or give us an ice bucket. Yes that may sound posh, but when you spend £35 for a bottle you expect that. We weren’t allowed a jug of water and we witnessed an argument over who was serving the ice between the staff. Dinner was served in boxes and we were told to get our own cutlery and sauces. My ‘dressed’ crab was pretty much brown crab with tiny sprinkles of white and it tasted like the dregs of a crab and made me feel sick. Do not read the good reviews. Do not go here. When we first walked in the staff just didn’t acknowledge us there was no table of 6 available so asked if we could move the table of 2 and table of 4 together as they were next to each other and both free. At first we was told no and then after a bit of explaining we was told we’d have to wait 15 minutes so they could clear the table. There was a tray with a few empty drinks on. 15 mins was up so we all went in and sat down the tray with drinks on was still on the table and the table hadn’t even been wiped. After all getting settled the waitress finally moved the tray and explained they was busy. We ordered drinks and food together. The drinks took 20 minutes to come. I had coke in a bottle and a glass with ice in. My ice was already half melted. Over an hour later our food came out. Burgers were dry. The Mac and cheese was the worst thing I had ever seen. It was like really stodgy porridge and did not taste of cheese at all. Any time we asked the waitress something she just made it seem like we was asking her to go above and beyond for us when really we wasn’t being difficult even in the slightest. At the end we go to pay and they add a 10% service fee without even asking. Why would I want to pay 10% of my nearly £150 bill for a poor and quite disgusting service. The only plus’s side to this place was the decorations, the mayonnaise and the fact they allowed dogs in
