Good food but a bit quiet in the week

We had a lovely Sunday lunch the food was delicious a nice selection of vegetables a huge yorkshire pudding and two kinds of meat, the service was just right not rushed and not slow there was a nice buzzing atmosphere and it had got really busy by the time we left it is definitely worth a visit

Always a lively place with plenty of people in at peak hours. Would recommend booking a table if you want to eat.

Good quality food and drink served by very helpful and pleasant staff in comfortable surroundings.

Reserved a table for two and upon arrival I was greeted with ‘follow me mate’. We were sat down in a rather noisy and rowdy area of the pub when we would have preferred a quieter area in order to enjoy our date night. I politely asked a member of staff if we could be moved somewhere else, however no other tables were available. We promptly ordered our food and drinks. It took 45 minutes for a burger and chips & halloumi and chips to be served, which caused us to not only ask a member of staff where our food was, but also to order a second round of drinks. They charged £7.10 for two pints of coke and £12.49 for halloumi (two small finger strips of halloumi) and chips, we both felt this was extortionately priced and left feeling ripped off! Burger and chips were nice, but not worth a revisit. We were never asked if our food was nice, so didn’t have the opportunity to complain. We were disappointed by the small portions of food, noisy seating area, long wait times for basic food and high prices.

Friendly Staff, and great food at reasonable prices.

I came here with my partner for a lovley meal and we were overjoyed with our service standards. Our server was Aysia and she was very helpful and tended to our needs exceptionally. The food was incredible, possibly the best night out I’ve had in a while. Thank you

Don’t recommend the lasagne, as you can see it was soupy. Husband enjoyed the posh fish & chips though. Peroni was alright as well

Grim, thought we'd give it another try after a bad experience last year as has had a refurb and local... Chicken breast I'm sure was reheated from day before and my partners gammon was grey chips were dry and everything was bitter, we walked the dog after and I had to vomit in a bush and shortly after getting home my partner did also.. Heard management laughing to a customer telling her there will be a wait on food (even though there was approximately 12 covers on a Thursday afternoon) due to the chef 'going AWOL'... hilarious.. Normally I wouldn't leave reviews unless it's exceptionally good/bad experience and unfortunately this was the latter and wouldn't of bothered complaining about the filthy menus/cutlery and poor service. I've run pubs/restaurants from great barrier island to Hertfordshire and this place has got some serious standard issues and It fills me with dread as to who is managing the kitchen. We paid the bill and will never return.... But the reason I've left this review is to prevent others wasting there precious moments in this cesspit.

We had a very pleasant welcome to the pub. We were greeted by Jane and she was very accommodating. Always ready to be of service. The shepherds pie was recommended by Jane and it was 10/10. Well worth a visit.

We are regular visitors to The Talbot. We are served by Jane who is very pleasant, polite and she can't do enough for us. The atmosphere in the pub is very inviting and the food is good quality with generous portions

A fair sized, clean and friendly place to go for meal out or even just a quiet drink in the evening. Staff are friendly and helpful especially young Frankie who always has a welcoming smile for her customers

Popped in for some food. Ordered a couple of dishes. The Rainbow Lasagne was lovely as was the double burger. We were well looked after by Jane. Very friendly and helpful. Perfect! Both food and service 😉 Jane is a credit to the Talbot.

We called into the Talbot for a post New Year drink. It was quiet, as expected on a Tuesday afternoon, but we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Jane was serving and made us very welcome, as usual. Always chatty and friendly, she goes the extra mile to make you feel relaxed and comfortable. We didn't eat on this occasion, but have done previously and not been disappointed. 10/10

A good local pub which is very comfortable and offers a good selection of food and drinks. We use the pub regularly, and the staff are very good. A special mention for Ben who is always polite and very efficient.

Really lovely pub. We came to have food and it was very tasty and good portions. We had the spicy chicken burger and haddock and chips. Paige served us and she was very friendly and efficient. Would definitely visit again and recommend to anyone.

Great Pub. We initially decided to go because they are dog friendly and that was it. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed the staff are all lovely. Car parking is great, all areas of the inn are clean, bright and comfortable. We went here for New Years Eve and had a great night. The teamwork is fantastic and organised. We didn’t expect much of the food for New Year’s Eve with it just being burgers, scampi chips etc but the burgers were delicious, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. Despite not being our nearest pub it is now our new local and well worth the 30 minute walk. The staff and atmosphere make this place. Well done for putting on a great night.

Good food at excellent price. Can't give great service score because you order at the bar. A bit of a wait for Sunday lunch but they were full. Good choice of gluten free options. Nice people. I'd go back there next time we're in the area.

The food and service was excellent. We were a party of 9 so were asked to pre order. The fact that we had 3 menus to choose from did complicate the issue but your employee Cath helped me sort it out and we had a very enjoyable evening

Lots missing of menu , ordered steak no peppercorn sauce for one , no sirloin steak available. Earl Grey tea not available. Waitress not interested ( not a people person then don't be a waitress) not sure we will return.

I had a lovely experience at the Talbot Inn. The pub has a cozy, warm atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The service was excellent—friendly and attentive throughout. While the food was average, the overall experience was still very enjoyable. It’s a great spot to relax and unwind, and I would happily return!

The food was fantastic! The staff were amazing and attentive. Excellent value for money. This is always our family go-to as it is extremely family friendly and welcoming.

A welcoming pub with a decent selection of beers. I've not eaten here so cannot comment on this aspect. The interior is a tad dated with notably carpeted throughout. This is likely one of the reasons this is not a dog friendly pub; a real shame given the location and many local dog owners. I'd rate 4 stars if dogs were allowed. Edit March 2024 - Talbot now allows dogs, true to.my word, I've rated back up to 4 stars. It's a much more welcoming place with a handful of well behaved dogs scattered here and there.

The pub itself was alright, but it is not obvious that parking is chargeable, so my one drink cost me an extra 60 pounds for a parking ticket

Went for the ABBA tribute night it was a brilliant show. Had a lovely meal there was plenty to eat certainly will be returning very friendly place

100 pounds car park fine added to the bill made it an unforgettable experience, waitress forgot to ask for the registration number.

After much anticipation was a bit disappointing, they’d run out of several items despite having several large parties they had not adequately prepared for the day. Service slow short on staff. Not very well organised. Crème brûlée comes with 2 individual packed biscoff not very imaginative! Very disappointing experience

Very disappointed with our food! Definitely not considering a return visit. Portions very small, poor quality, had something else to eat when we got home as didn't wish to waste even more money on a poor dessert. Have eaten here many times before, but this place has definitely gone downhill!

Today we had our Sons adoption celebration family gathering. I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the team, especially Jane and Julie. Friendly, welcoming, amazing food and fantastic service. We are truly greatful for how easy everything has been from booking with you to the actual party. Everything was perfection. I will be recommending the Talbot to everyone.

Another disappointing meal. Starter was dry prawns on a bed of wilted iceberg lettuce with 2 pieces of bread. Mains was overcooked steak with burnt chips. No one comes over after you have started your meal to ask if everythings OK. I got asked when paying if everything was OK. I replied no and the guy serving just said oh. The pub wasn't overly busy and it's not expensive but I do expect much better. Why go out for dinner when I can cook much better meal at home. IPDATE: A year since my last visit and exactly the same. What is the point of asking how you want a steak cooked if they all come out the same, burnt. This is a nice pub but the food is poor. I will call in for a drink when passing but won't bother eating there again.

Food is good value for money. However, it was very quiet when we arrived, yet the wait for food, both before and between courses was excessive. Will try again, in the hope that this was just an off day.

The food is very good but staff service non existence. Service is extremely slow. No one comes to ask if you are okay or if the food is okay. Basically, saw no-one.

Very nice pub! Quite big with decent garden space. Plenty of choice on the menu with reasonable prices. Service was good with the staff being really polite. Would recommend! WARNING: If you use the car park, don't forget to register your number plate on the screen just inside the main entrance or you'll get an automatic (3rd party) fine! There's a school next door and apparently had a lot of problems with inconsiderate parents!

Very disappointing experience. Not a busy night as it rained heavily all night. Chicken burger was served only bun bread, a really tough chicken meat that is hard to bite, and 2 lettuce leaves. No sauce, no red onions, no tomatoes inside (as described in menu). We were shocked by the way it looked like and couldn't believe it's from a restaurant kitchen. After telling the waitress, she/kitchen gave us back a plate with sliced tomatoes, sliced red onions and sauce and we put them back to the burger by ourselves, no apologies from any one of the restaurant of this kind of shocking food quality. And don't forget the restaurant had no more than 5 or 6 tables of customers, a really quiet night. With this poor standard of food we'll never go back again.

You can assure us that you are not rude, but it’s not what you say, it’s what you do! And you know that is a fact I’m sure ! Well I do not want to keep highlighting the degrading eco we had at your pub… as “ behaviour” is innate. So good luck with that going forward.

Friendly staff, good service and pub food that you'd expect from a traditional pub that is satisfying and doesn't break the bank. Ember Inns always give offers which helps.

We went here to use a 40% off voucher for Ember Inns. We were lucky I booked a table as it was very busy, unbeknownst to us it was quiz night. As it was so busy, we were sat on a table that wasn’t set up for eating, so I had to go back to the bar to get a menu, then back again to order. I was told food would be about an hour wait. I said that was okay and I ordered. We then went back up to order drinks to be told both drinks we wanted were out of stock The food came within about half an hour, which was great, but my plates had chips on it when the menu said mash. The woman who served it took it back and within a few minutes I had mash on my plate, although not much of it. I then realised they had taken the cutlery with the plate I’m not giving me any back with the mash. I had to go to the bar again. My pie was very standard and the gravy was lukewarm. My partner is lasagne tasted a bit sweet, this must’ve been the red wine. I’m not sure if there was too much of that in it but she finished it off. I would not have paid full price for this experience had I not had a 40% off discount.

Tom, the kitchen manager always does delicious food that looks and tastes amazing. The pubs atmosphere has always been very nice & relaxing every time I go.

A nice pub located only 25 minutes walk from MK central train station. There's a nice amount of parking and outdoor seating. The food was fine, typical pub grub. Service was fine too. All in all not a bad pub. Nothing special though.

TURN UP HERE FOR BRUNCH. From 10am until noon brunch is served. First time I've had a pint of ale with my breakfast. Parking is free but please register vehicle number plate on entering the building. Excellent service, quality food, good decor with olde beams. The Talbot will easily welcome many more customers.

Good pub food (with a little modern flair). Not the biggest of portion sizes for certain dishes (example: the Hunters Chicken Schnitzel was just a small, chicken breast with bacon on top and waaaaaay too much Bbq sauce and a small amount of barely melted cheese. Not a flattened, crumbed chicken breast in sight). Please don't get me wrong, it tasted good and the small amount of skin on fries where great too and the side salad was fresh and crisp and lightly dressed. The atmosphere was good for weekday lunchtime. The new chairs are a tad hard and uncomfortable still (may need to be sat in a few more times to be broken in). Food was easy to order and arrived in a good time (not too quick that you worry it's done in a microwave but not too long that you're soo hungry by the time it arrives) All in all it was good and the staff were very, very, very nice, smiley and helpful. I couldn't fault them at all.

Car parking needs to be highlighted by staff as not all visitors know the procedure it's easy to miss signs when looking for entrance and chatting .
