Went for the ABBA tribute night it was a brilliant show. Had a lovely meal there was plenty to eat certainly will be returning very friendly place

After much anticipation was a bit disappointing, they’d run out of several items despite having several large parties they had not adequately prepared for the day. Service slow short on staff. Not very well organised. Crème brûlée comes with 2 individual packed biscoff not very imaginative! Very disappointing experience

Very disappointed with our food! Definitely not considering a return visit. Portions very small, poor quality, had something else to eat when we got home as didn't wish to waste even more money on a poor dessert. Have eaten here many times before, but this place has definitely gone downhill!

Superb went at dinner time, my steak couldn't fault as was the gammon, chicken, very busy but so friendly with out a doubt evertime we go never disappointed

Friendly and courteous staff and the food was lovely. Nice and clean all round. Well recommended. We're always made to feel welcome, and it's easy to get to know the staff so you end up feeling like part of the furniture.

Another disappointing meal. Starter was dry prawns on a bed of wilted iceberg lettuce with 2 pieces of bread. Mains was overcooked steak with burnt chips. No one comes over after you have started your meal to ask if everythings OK. I got asked when paying if everything was OK. I replied no and the guy serving just said oh. The pub wasn't overly busy and it's not expensive but I do expect much better. Why go out for dinner when I can cook much better meal at home. IPDATE: A year since my last visit and exactly the same. What is the point of asking how you want a steak cooked if they all come out the same, burnt. This is a nice pub but the food is poor. I will call in for a drink when passing but won't bother eating there again.

Food is good value for money. However, it was very quiet when we arrived, yet the wait for food, both before and between courses was excessive. Will try again, in the hope that this was just an off day.

The food is very good but staff service non existence. Service is extremely slow. No one comes to ask if you are okay or if the food is okay. Basically, saw no-one.

Very nice pub! Quite big with decent garden space. Plenty of choice on the menu with reasonable prices. Service was good with the staff being really polite. Would recommend! WARNING: If you use the car park, don't forget to register your number plate on the screen just inside the main entrance or you'll get an automatic (3rd party) fine! There's a school next door and apparently had a lot of problems with inconsiderate parents!

Very disappointing experience. Not a busy night as it rained heavily all night. Chicken burger was served only bun bread, a really tough chicken meat that is hard to bite, and 2 lettuce leaves. No sauce, no red onions, no tomatoes inside (as described in menu). We were shocked by the way it looked like and couldn't believe it's from a restaurant kitchen. After telling the waitress, she/kitchen gave us back a plate with sliced tomatoes, sliced red onions and sauce and we put them back to the burger by ourselves, no apologies from any one of the restaurant of this kind of shocking food quality. And don't forget the restaurant had no more than 5 or 6 tables of customers, a really quiet night. With this poor standard of food we'll never go back again.

You can assure us that you are not rude, but it’s not what you say, it’s what you do! And you know that is a fact I’m sure ! Well I do not want to keep highlighting the degrading eco we had at your pub… as “ behaviour” is innate. So good luck with that going forward.

Had two lovely rump steaks cooked to perfection. Lovely lady served us think her name was Alison .

Thought give another go as it's been awhile but food still poor sausage and mash more like sausage and charcoal.

Friendly staff, good service and pub food that you'd expect from a traditional pub that is satisfying and doesn't break the bank. Ember Inns always give offers which helps.

We went here to use a 40% off voucher for Ember Inns. We were lucky I booked a table as it was very busy, unbeknownst to us it was quiz night. As it was so busy, we were sat on a table that wasn’t set up for eating, so I had to go back to the bar to get a menu, then back again to order. I was told food would be about an hour wait. I said that was okay and I ordered. We then went back up to order drinks to be told both drinks we wanted were out of stock The food came within about half an hour, which was great, but my plates had chips on it when the menu said mash. The woman who served it took it back and within a few minutes I had mash on my plate, although not much of it. I then realised they had taken the cutlery with the plate I’m not giving me any back with the mash. I had to go to the bar again. My pie was very standard and the gravy was lukewarm. My partner is lasagne tasted a bit sweet, this must’ve been the red wine. I’m not sure if there was too much of that in it but she finished it off. I would not have paid full price for this experience had I not had a 40% off discount.

Tom, the kitchen manager always does delicious food that looks and tastes amazing. The pubs atmosphere has always been very nice & relaxing every time I go.

Really lovely family meal, great location, very good looking pub and the service was fantastic. Danny on the bar is a credit to your pub.

A nice pub located only 25 minutes walk from MK central train station. There's a nice amount of parking and outdoor seating. The food was fine, typical pub grub. Service was fine too. All in all not a bad pub. Nothing special though.

TURN UP HERE FOR BRUNCH. From 10am until noon brunch is served. First time I've had a pint of ale with my breakfast. Parking is free but please register vehicle number plate on entering the building. Excellent service, quality food, good decor with olde beams. The Talbot will easily welcome many more customers.

Had a Sunday roast which was very nice and didnt have to wait long. Waitress needs to be more Customer friendly wasn't asked if food was ok. Definitely not service with a smile, also was emailed about a refurbishment but place didn't look any different.

Good pub food (with a little modern flair). Not the biggest of portion sizes for certain dishes (example: the Hunters Chicken Schnitzel was just a small, chicken breast with bacon on top and waaaaaay too much Bbq sauce and a small amount of barely melted cheese. Not a flattened, crumbed chicken breast in sight). Please don't get me wrong, it tasted good and the small amount of skin on fries where great too and the side salad was fresh and crisp and lightly dressed. The atmosphere was good for weekday lunchtime. The new chairs are a tad hard and uncomfortable still (may need to be sat in a few more times to be broken in). Food was easy to order and arrived in a good time (not too quick that you worry it's done in a microwave but not too long that you're soo hungry by the time it arrives) All in all it was good and the staff were very, very, very nice, smiley and helpful. I couldn't fault them at all.

It was my birthday , had a lovely meal, service was quick and efficient. Two items were unavailable from the menu which was disappointing but alternative was OK. Car parking needs to be highlighted by staff as not all visitors know the procedure it's easy to miss signs when looking for entrance and chatting .

Recently refurbished, I have not been in for too long, decades perhaps. Very friendly team and sensible selection of ales and beers. I have the ember inns app now, so I will be back for the dining experience.

Really nice meal. Took advantage of the Thursday night steak night offer. Mine was cooked perfectly. Only downside was how the side of dauphinoise potatoes were presented.

For Sunday Lunch don't forget to log your parked car on the handy computer. Try and remember all the orders of your guests for starters, mains and puddings for when you go to the bar to order your entire meal, or you can ignore the staff and order on your phone from the table. The beef rib is 30% fat and bone if you like that sort of thing. The chicken is a leg with no breast meat.

Had a buffet spread after a relative’s funeral. The staff were mostly polite- waiting staff slightly abrupt at times but I can only assume this was down to a busy/stressful time of day so no harm done. The food was lovely and the staff were proactive at clearing away. The staff reminded us to enter our vehicle registrations which was very helpful and were polite at the bar. I would recommend the Talbot Inn for occasions again. Thank you.

A welcoming pub with a decent selection of beers. I've not eaten here so cannot comment on this aspect. The interior is a tad dated with notably carpeted throughout. This is likely one of the reasons this is not a dog friendly pub; a real shame given the location and many local dog owners. I'd rate 4 stars if dogs were allowed. Edit March 2024 - Talbot now allows dogs, true to.my word, I've rated back up to 4 stars. It's a much more welcoming place with a handful of well behaved dogs scattered here and there.

Had been travelling for nearly 3 hours. Come to the Talbot as the food is apparently really good. The kitchen closes at 9pm. However we got there at 8pm was told they are still doing food by a lady behind bar she was lovely. However when going to order food at 8:20ish went to order food and was told that the kitchen was closed due to them being overly busy and trying to get food out in time for everyone else. It was dead when we got there I understand it might have been busy before. I work with M&B and I know that you cannot close the kitchen that early just because it was busy and only if the RBM has authorized it. Also the beer tasted like it could do with a line clean.

Visited last night for a family dinner and as always the food was outstanding ,always hot and served quickly The food never disappoints and the waiting staff always make us feel welcome Thankyou again for a lovely evening

Went there yesterday for lunch simple lunch to ask for took 30mins and when it turned up chicken was well over cooked and looked disgusting I had gammon tough as old boots chips dry no taste won’t be going again

We had a fantastic Sunday dinner. Plenty of options and not crowded on our visit.

We booked for 20 people for an after work get together . The manager was very helpful in helping to organise it . She gave us a separate area to ourselves to enjoy . We provided the menu choices in advance . This made things easier on the night . The service was excellent staff were very friendly. The food considering the price was outstanding I have paid twice that amount and not had such a nice meal . The only downside was that the fixed menu which we ate from only had one vegetarian choice although I’m told it was very nice by those that had it .

Have just visited the restaurant with two friends for lunch. I am saddened to say that although the pub has recently been refurbished the food and service remained very much the same. I ordered chicken and chips from the 2 course lunch menu, the chicken breast was very small and so over cooked it was virtually inedible. The only reason I didn't complain is for two reasons firstly my two friends had their meals ( which we had waited an age for) and if mine was replaced they would have long finished theirs before i got mine again and secondly I have complained in there before and the staff become very hostile. The staff really didn't seem to have a clue what they were doing and when they sort help, the supervisor didn't appear very happy to assist them . All in all a very disappointing experience which I won't be repeating.

Major refurbishment in side. It's a little dark in places all the furniture has been reupholstered with decorating though out manly in green and black down in the bar. With new tiled mens toilets. The bad side is the vegetarian meau has got smaller

Very dissatisfied with how the quality of the food and the portion sizes have suffered since the recent makeover, prior to this makeover there was never an issue, I even had to ask if the chef had changed !! Portion sizes have reduced on side dishes by half for £2.79 per portion you would expect the small bowls they provide these in to be filled, for instance a portion of onion fries consisted of 7 fries, dauphinoise potatoes was about 2 tablespoons full, I wish I had taken photos before we put it on the plate, overall a regular eatery for us will be no more I’m afraid

I understand it's just been refitted. Nice pub, quite large. I was there on a Wednesday which was quiz night. Went for dinner from the nearby hotel, that was a good choice. I had Shepard's pie, it was made from whole lamb not mince. Nice serving of steamed veg. Very al dente Which was okay for me but I think some people might have found a bit too raw. Pie was fresh from oven when it came to the table. Topping was still sizzling. Two different IPAs on draught. Both were nice, if I was local then I'd go again. If I was at the same hotel I'd eat there.

Haven't been here for a number of years, but have to leave a review for today's visit. The food was excellent, and my mixed grill was done to perfection. The real ale on draught was excellent. We will be back as soon as the refurbishment is completed in a few weeks! Thankyou.

I had visited this establishment to attend a wake for a friend who passed away. The bar and spaces inside were lovely, busy and overall a place you would think to find out in the country side not in the middle of a town or city. Food was nice enough, drink service was good and the staff friendly. Then a few weeks after I left a letter appeared, a parking change notice. I had not paid to park in the pub car park. Now I'm expected to pay for visiting the establishment! I'll not be going back, plenty of other public houses around.

Lovely and quiet when we arrived as shortly after opening. Lovely staff. We're left alone to enjoy our meal and get together. We weren't rushed in any way, so very relaxed. Food was tasty and not expensive. Would definitely go again.

Food was very nice, not the best but well worth the money, service was amazing, very friendly staff, atmosphere was good, especially if you go when the footballs on, they have a TV area aswell as a beer garden

Lovely pub. We went on a BH Monday and booked a table. It was nice and quiet. We were seated straight away. Bar staff were lovely and helpful. The food menu was limited and we were not told this prior to being seated so we all had to select a different meal..But food was nice and piping hot!

I visited the pub on 15 March with my friends for drinks. Today i have received the parking penalty of £100. My friend also got it. It was dark to read the notification for parking registration. Pub is charging £10 to Cancel the ticket. I think its not fair on the visitors. I went there for relaxation and to worry to register my car first. Staff did not made us aware too. There is no need to register the car as i feel it is secure area. on top of this charge of £10 to cancel it, is ridicules policy by pub management. I will never visit this pub again!!!!

The food was nice and well priced, but service was lacking. We made a booking, but when we arrived it was hard to find a member of staff as everyone was busy. Eventually stopped someone who then went to ask and were finally seated. We were unfortunately seated in the busiest part of the restaurant and then moved ourselves to a quieter part. We ordered from the app although were not advised if it was table service or not, but then the drinks we ordered never arrived (although food did). We asked the server about the drinks and he to the bar and came back to advise they were out of the prosecco we ordered on the app. He appologised and gave us a different bottle which was cheaper. By this point I'd given up and I couldn't be bother asking to get a manager to give me a refund of the difference.

Nice old pub, staff are easy going to talk to i sat down scanned the code of my table and ordered and paid for food and drinks without needing to go to the bar. loads of places and areas to sit. I suffer from bad anxiety and sometimes I look anxious and odd but the staff there didn't look at me strange and treated me nice even though I probably had a face like a slapped arse as they say, but that's just my anxiety. So yes the table service is nice and I like the lighting to nice cosy and some dim areas to relax. Thanks

Pub grub menu with occasional interesting specials. Quality is very good considering the relatively modest price. Good range of beers. Large family and dog friendly garden and plenty of parking. Make sure you enter your registration number on the iPad thing at the bar or you will get fined. Edit: Dogs are not allowed anywhere inside. Edit to the edit: A rather surly woman told us dogs were not allowed inside. Not the case - they are allowed in the bar area.

Visited here with friends, not been here for awhile but pleasantly surprised. Staff very friendly, food was good as well as the drinks. They are offering at the moment 2 courses for £15-79 which was excellent value for money, I had gammon steak with chips and peas 2 eggs and grilled tomato, all cooked to perfection. Desert was the cheesecake, it was vegan but you would not know it, very tasty. Good selection of beers and wines, the London Pride was well kept and was a nice change from the usual beers you find. There is free car parking, but you do have to register you registration number on a tablet at the bar, not a big deal it took seconds. Also be aware that you have to order food and drinks at the bar, they do not come round for your order, also not an issue for us but some might find it is unusual. Will return and well worth a visit.

We went mid week for a wake. The food in the buffet was absolutely amazing with a nice mix!!! The staff were friendly, and everything went smoothly, we arrived, and all had a cup of tee/coffee just as we were finishing the buffet started to come out.

Out of the 3 Ember Inns within the MK area, this has to be hands down the best in terms of service, food and atmosphere. The other 2 should take note!

Sunday roast was very bad both for Adults and Kids. Meat was not cooked and the vegetables were not sautéd well they didnot have any taste at all. The gravy was over sated and was bitter. Overall it was a very bad family experience. Lady staff at the till was very rude and didnot answer my queries well. I would never suggest anyone to go here.

Food was absolutely delicious!! Had starters and mains. It was hot and the waitresses were amazing. I didn’t get the main hosts name but she was amazing. Wasn’t sure on a draft ale, poured a bit for me to try. Fish and steak cooked perfectly!! Sadly food wasn’t eaten before photos could be taken! Would 100% recommend!!!!

Always running out of food, my 3rd time visit and all 3 times no "Posh fish & chips or grilled sea bass Didn't get the pint of promotional 0% guiness as advertised, again run out but the place didn't seem all that busy really to run out of food and drinks Ordered chicken, bacon and avacado salad instead and no avacado in the salad instead pieces of Cucumber that is not part of menu Good clean and tidy place but always seem to run short on food menu

3rd visit and again no sea bass in stock, every time same Ordered chicken, bacon, avacado salad and there was no avacado at all, instead lots of Cucumber slices that was cut half rounded to make it look like Cucumber, yet no mentioned of Cucumber in the menu Also free drink offer of 0% guineas again out of stock... Place inside very clean and good atmosphere but something not right about food and drinks availability Food and drink shortage had really spoiled my evening 3 times...

Had a Great family Christmas dinner. We were well looked after and considering there were a lot of us, over 20,the food came out together and hot (not an easy ask) So well done to you all 🎄

They were really short staffed, but they still did a good job. Food was decent

The food was unfortunately not very good, even sticking with "safe" options like a burger it came out dry and lacking condiments. Extras were provided when asked but there wasn't much that could be done to save the dish. The staff were very helpful and friendly though and I'm sure it would be a perfectly pleasant place to have a drink but I wouldn't recommend eating here.

What a nice warm cosy pub, will definitely be visiting again. Food and drink was excellent, staff were friendly and welcoming.

Went here with friends for some after work drinks but ended up eating there too. Great beer, great food and a nice warm welcome when we walked through the door.
