As I entered asking if they were open for coffee the member of staff with a red t-shirt and a pony tail was rude and just grunted. She then proceeded to serve every other customer except me. They were buying alcoholic drinks whilst I waited at the coffee counter and she knew I was stood there waiting for her to serve me. There was no direction of where I was meant to order. Then I asked the other member of staff and she said “well you can order where you like and we are busy” So rude. I was eventually served the coffees but I will not be coming here again and I do not recommend anyone else does for coffee. If they do not want to serve coffee at a busy time, then they should not be open for it.

Summer behind the bar is EXCELLENT at her job, she’s very good at communicating and friendly. We enjoyed the food, much more flavour wise than we were expecting from a pub! Good selection of wines and Hozier playing, what more could you want. Will be back x

Since 1995, when I spent several weeks in Corbridge researching my Undergrad dissertation at the fort and calling in daily for lunch, it has been a treat to buy lovely food at The Corbridge Larder. It has been an even bigger treat since we left the North East in 2017. So I was very much looking forward to a return visit after many years. We went in to order stotties for lunch. I opted for my favourite of cheese savoury, with husband selecting egg mayonnaise: both on the board at £4.95. No cheese savoury available which, in the end, was fortunate. When I went to pay, I queried the price and was told the sandwich had just gone up - to £5.95. This was not mentioned when I ordered it (so new was it that the server may not have been aware) and the board still read £4.95. Despite a vague apology, and my reference to the board (" oh we haven't changed it yet"), I was charged £5.95. Now, £4.95 for a small stottie (bread roll) is quite expensive, but we were up for a treat and it is The Corbridge Larder after all. However to suddenly announce to a customer, after they have placed their order in good faith, at a clearly advertised price, that their purchase has increased in the brief intervening period by 20%, is a bit off! I expressed my disappointment, but the staff member was not to be moved. I should have left the sandwich, but was so surprised I didn't think to do so. Not the best customer service move and a rather sad end to our longstanding, and previously excellent patronage of this establishment. Our visit treats and gifts will now be purchased elsewhere and we shall not return

I last wrote a review of Chadwick's six years ago. That was a five star. We regularly visit and there isn't anywhere, in our experience, which comes close to the meal quality offered here. In my last review I praised the coffee (americano for me) and the scones. They're still superb. Yesterday my wife and I both had home made corned beef with two fried eggs on top with a salad and chips. It was absolutely brilliant. This was followed by a baklava and a Greek dessert, the name of which eludes me, but it tasted of delicate vanilla. These two dishes were halved and shared. Superb. Finally another excellent coffee. Yesterday's meal was so special that I just felt another review was long overdue. According to Google's rules I had to delete my earlier one. I must also mention the staff who are really friendly and efficient. Thank you, everyone.
