We stopped here for a Sunday lunch, and it was actually very good. Staff very pleasant. Food very good quality, beef a little tough, but other than that absolutely brilliant. Menu on Sunday is either beef, chicken supreme or turkey and a great range of puddings and starters to add for £3 each. I had turkey and it was lovely. Overall defo recommend, parking is a walk but worth it.

I stayed here for one night as part of a business trip. The welcome was lovely. There is an issue with very limited on street parking outside and staff were so helpful in regard to this. The room was lovely, very clean and with some thoughtful little additions (bottled water and earplugs etc). We had an evening meal in the pub and the food was lovely, couldn't fault anything about it at all. Breakfast the next morning was freshly cooked to order and delicious. I would highly recommend and will certainly stay here again when in the area. The only downside is the lack of hotel parking (although there is a public car park within walking distance).

Great pub accommodation. Well decorated spacious rooms. A little noisy at the front as no double glazing, ear plugs provided in rooms for light sleepers. Fantastic breakfast full English or options available . Staff were all friendly and welcoming. On the high street so no parking ( free with disc from coach & horses) at leisure centre 3 mins walk. Drop off zone outside 30 mins limit. Great tea room at Errington. 30 mins to Tynemouth.

I stayed for 2 nights at the Coach and Horses and I must say every part of my stay was outstanding. From the moment I first walked in the staff were so friendly and helpful. The room I stayed in was well furnished and comfortable. I ate on Sunday night at the sister property, The County, which again was amazing and the following night had dinner at the Coach and Horses. Dinner was really nice so ending a really good stay on a high. I would highly recommend this property

Stayed for one night after a full day's visit to Hadrian's wall and glad I did. As it was quiet I was upgraded to a lovely front facing room which was spotless with a large bathroom, great shower and everything you could need. I must mention the two girls who were the staff for the evening, they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful getting my parking sorted and anything else I asked for, thank you. Nice freshly cooked breakfast with another nice lady serving it, I can't comment on evening meals as serving stopped at 6 on a Sunday, but really nice Indian next door! Highly recommended, and I would definitely come back again.

Visiting Hexham for a short stay. Did not know where to go for Sunday lunch. Happened upon the Coach and Horses. The meal although delivered quickly (which is always a concern) was actually very good. We both had turkey. I don't like parsnips but these were cooked in such a unique way, they were actually pleasant. Waiting staff were also attentive and pleasant. I would recommend.

I had a hospital appointment late afternoon and decided to stop over for the night. The bedrooms are lovely really comfortable and the bed is massive the room was really clean and tidy. The food in the restuarant was exelent only thing was the gravy needs to served in a jug and not poured all over tyhe food the pie had enough in it not to need even more added I'm a none gravey lover. This is an ideal place to stop over night or longer. One mild critisism please fix another hand rail to the other side of the stairs to help people like myself who are not as able as would like to be but I need a hand rail on both sides to hold onto.

First experience of staying here and right from the beginning before we even stayed the staff were great! Very helpful and accommodating. We had an overnight stay in the honeymoon room for our wedding night and everything was top notch! The bed was comfy and all facilities were clean all round, even breakfast in the morning was great! Right down to room temperature butter blocks…no one likes cold butter blocks that you have to wait to warm up! Would deffo book again and return soon.

We have just returned after spending 2 nights at The Coach and Horses Inn. Our room was really lovely, with everything we needed. They had thought of everything, including ear plugs. There was some noise at night due to it's location but the plugs did the trick. The room was warm, had a great large screen television and a fabulous bathroom. Very clean. The breakfasts were very good and the evening meal we had. Couldn't fault it. Staff were really helpful too. Good location for the town.

The pub/restaurant is excellent and I highly recommend. We wanted food after a long coastal walk before going back to our hotel. Didn’t want to dress up as too tired. We were greeted when we entered and asked if wanted food or just a drink. Told us to find a table and the polite young man said he’d come to our table and take our order.I chose fish and chips and my husband leek and chicken pie. Both were outstanding. The fish very fresh and beautiful batter. My husbands meal was also delicious with fresh vegetables and loads of chicken. The beer was wonderful and finally the bathroom was so clean. Just a pity it is not nearer home for us or we’d be in all the time.

We stayed for five nights B&B and were given a quiet upgraded room at the back of the hotel. Parking was a few minutes away in a large public car park. Only problems were that the lighting was inadequate for reading and that the window was sealed, presumably because it let onto a fire escape. When dinner was unavailable we were directed across the road to sister hotel The County, which was excellent.

We spent two nights in Room 6. It was a modern, spacious room with its own corridor, a large shower and with many extras which you don't normally get in hotels; drssing gown and slippers, sewing repair kits, dental/shaving emergency kits etc. There was an air conditioner unit and two fans. The only problem (minimal) was that the window didn't open as it was next to a fire escape. The staff were exceptional as was, according to my husband, the Pedigree ale. The food was reasonable pub food and the wine list was excellent value.

Having recently stayed in the rooms, I thought it was only a fair to review the bar as I did spend a little more time in the bar area than in the room, I was meeting a couple of mates up here for a night out, lovely Chinese just up the road where we ended up later on, I got here a little early so just managed to make the last few minutes of a Happy Hour Push the button there is a similar offer on in some of the pubs in Newcastle – so I was familiar with the game – I tried to get Free Drinks but missed out and ended up with 20% discount on my drinks instead, as I was staying there for a night I had a mini chat with the pub manager who informed me that there was new management involved and they were going to redevelop the bar, rooms, beer garden and a couple of other unused areas, he was quite proud of the investment they were making, and as the other 2 were taking their time getting there despite me trying to hurry them along for the last of the happy hour, I was told about the rooms that they had at the back of the building that were not really used and so could do with a new purpose, there was definite excitement in the air, as a couple of locals jumped in on the conversation in support of their local being brought back to life was there term, I did promise to return in a few months at which point they mentioned that it should be well underway and the rooms would have been modernised by then, I’m looking forward to that now, and might stay two night and try the Thai one night and the Chinese the second night. The beers were good my favourite drink is Jeremiah Weed, don’t see it too often and I was so happy to have several bottles of it the other night, friendly bunch of locals, when I called back around last orders as I could not remember the code to get in, I was worried about being locked out, I was updated on the pin and then offered why not come to Phoenix for a late drink as they are open later. – review of Phoenix to follow!

The coach and horses has recently benefited from a long overdue refurbishment. the bar area has been redecorated and is now much brighter and more welcoming than previously and the structural repairs have been completed (no more props holding up the ceiling !) I cannot comment on the rooms, never having actually stayed there, but the beer was good and fairly reasonably priced at £2.90 for boddingtons and £3.30 for a lager. there is also a lrge beer garden behind the pub and the thai restaurant next door is excellent.

When we arrived without a reservation on a busy Saturday night, we were greeted with such warmth by the staff who went out of their way to find us a table.
