Wow the Eggs Benedict was one of the best i have ever ever eaten, absolutely amazing, the young man who served me was working alone at the time , he was working hard but took his frustrations out on me which was not acceptable! However the food made up for this behaviour, I would return as the chef is brilliant!

Unfortunately when we went we couldn't have a brunch as the staff told us it was too late (4pm) but we drank a lovely coffee and grabbed a sandwich from the bakery next door 😋 lovely coffee shop in the neighbourhood

Love Number 9 for breakfast. The Eggs Royale is a favourite of mine as well as Scrambled egg and smoked salmon, I recently decided to try other things on the breakfast menu and so far I've not been disappointed in any of my choices. Breakfast is served till 11:30

Visited Sunday 17th August 2024, superb food and excellent service, as always. Highly recommend Number 9, consistently fantastic.

I've been here dozens of times for coffee and for lunch, but first time for Sunday lunch. We all had a roast - one chicken, one beef and one trio of meats. Everything was delicious - shout out in particular to the crispy belly pork that came in my trio of meats. Accompaniments all great, good selection of well-cooked vegetables and the holy grail of Yorkshire puds - soft at the bottom and crispy at the top. Nothing was too much trouble for our lovely server. The loo was spotless. The only thing I'd change about this place is that it's very tightly packed with quite chunky tables and chairs (and therefore people!) so it can get busy and loud. We all really enjoyed it, even the member of our party who is challenging to please with meals out!

Lush atmosphere and amazing food

First time visiting here for breakfast despite living 10 minutes away. Food and atmosphere lovely. Quite abit wait on food but would definitely come back.

Lovely little bistro cafe. Parking outside. The interior is very classy and comfortable. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced. The staff are really lovely and friendly.

Popped in on speck for lunch on a Saturday with my sis for a coffee. We are both gluten free so both ordered a cheese savoury sandwich - the filling was fresh and could tell it had been made to order. Lovely boy serving - and he knew how to make a good coffee - all too often places burn the coffee - this boy must have had some good training as my sis and I know a good coffee - it was also a lovely blend. Also we loved the music that was being played not sure what it was however this created a lovely ambiance. A glass of sparkling water topped it off with ice and lemon. Lovely surroundings lovely staff and highly recommend.

Just stopped in at the Number 9 Bistro in Ponteland (Darras Hall) for a coffee and cake. The staff were excellent, very friendly and polite. I would highly recommend this place to all!

The food was mediocre and prawns overpriced. Three tempura prawns were £12 and they weren’t tempura, they were breaded and nothing special for that price. The calamari balls were quite nice and the chips were decent. There was no ice available for drinks. There is a shop next door so some could have been purchased until more was available. One of the waiting staff looked annoyed to be there. The other was lovely and said it was her first day. Quite a few of the dishes on the menu weren’t available. It was a Friday evening and quiet. Felt like we were being rushed out so they could close. Nice little place which has potential but didn’t meet it this time

I always visit this local eatery when I return from Spain visiting family. This little gem just gets better each time I come. I was there with my son and the ambience, service and food was excellent. Love the visual marketing you do. Keep up the great work you do. X

Wow what a lovely bistro. Been to a wedding close by and found this for a pit stop back down south. Food was exceptional. Service was perfect. Friendly and helpful without being too much. Lovely place to eat and drink.

Really dissatisfied and disappointed with my Saturday morning visit. We ordered two flat whites - we received to white coffees with burnt milk in cups with chipped handles. Food - we got pancakes with fresh fruit: it was a handful of strawberries - not worth the money. We asked for maple syrup and we literally got a thimble full. We also got a cooked breakfast, really expected better quality for the price.

Popped in for breakfast the other day and it was delicious. The staff member was so kind and welcoming, made sure to check that we were okay and had everything we needed. Very pleasant lady:)

The food was absolutely delicious, we ordered some of their new menu items and we weren’t disappointed! Highly recommend the braised pork belly. To top it off, the staff were so welcoming and friendly.

The food was delicious and service was extremely good as well! Emma was serving on her own when it was very busy and yet didn’t fail to provide excellent service! We’ll be back again! 100% recommend.

Delicious food and good wine, had the open prawn sandwich which was divine and the pink pinot grigio. Excellent service as well, very attentive and efficient. Will definitely be returning!

We turned up as a group of 9 with 4 under 4’s. Obviously created chaos but we’re so warmly revived and helped. Great staff, good delicious, hot and plentiful. Definitely worth a visit if you are near. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.

Today I went for breakfast with my mum. I ordered the halloumi eggs. The poached egg was completely undercooked, as if it had been dipped in the hot water and taken straight out. The waitress agreed that it was disgusting and took it to the chef who also agreed and apologised. Because of this, they took off the price of the egg, a grand total of £3. After this the food didn’t have the same appeal and was left. I found the removal of the cost of one egg very poor customer service and rather insulting. I will not be attending again.

Popped in for breakfast (eggs Benedict) last week, food & coffee was excellent! First time had eaten in for a while, have had numerous take out coffees (and Sunday lunches too in lockdowns) and was not disappointed. Place was very busy but service was still attentive and really good friendly atmosphere. Will be back again soon!

I had a very enjoyable experience, mostly down to my waiter Edward, who was always helpful, funny and made my day.

We went for breakfast on Sat morning. We expected the bistro to be busy and have visited here before for coffee, scones, sandwich and so thought we would have breakfast. When we arrived we were shown a table and waited 15 mins. To order then 50 minutes for food to arrive . I had ordered scrambled eggs, toast , bacon and smoked salmon. My husband ordered full breakfast. There were lots of people collecting takeaways while we waited and then when our food arrived we were so disappointed. Our bacon was not crispy but hard and inedible… it was impossible to even cut it and the fried egg was hard but the food was also cool except for the toast. We gave the bacon back to the waitress as it was so bad. She came back and apologised and said the chef said he had sent the wrong bacon to us as it was for another customer who had asked for crispy… at this time there were on other customers waiting to be served and the bacon could not have been eaten. There were on,y 2 staff on and they were so stressed , we really felt for them.

We visited number 9 during restaurant week, the food was tasty and not too much. It had a welcoming atmosphere and we will definitely be returning.

Had a very well presented Sunday roast here. Overall very happy with the experience and we’ll definitely be coming back. Few warnings: we went when it was cold/snowing outside. If you sit by the windows you get a very cold draft. Dinner took a while as there were many people ordering simultaneously, but the staff warned us in advance about this and apologised. The restaurant is a lot smaller than expected so you’ll definitely have to book in advance.

Had my Baby Girls Baby shower here on Sunday, and the place looked magical, the buffet style food was so delicious and the staff were all amazing. Highly recommend 👌🏻

What a lovely way to end our holiday. Stopped by this lovely cafe on our way to the airport. Food was delicious and staff were so welcoming! We were a big group with lots of dietary requirements which were all catered. Would highly recommend.

It is fair to say I have given number 9 few tries and the best phrase I can use is inconsistent. Which is apparent from the other reviews. I have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner here and my returning is due to it being convenient and easily walkable on the estate, but also desperately wanting them to do well. The staff are friendly and the restaurant has a nice feel to it, so you want to go in. Unfortunately it is the inconsistency in the timeliness of service, quality of the food coupled with the comparative price that makes me rate it 3 stars. I am not going to pick on anyone visit, but there are few things that would be good to change. There needs to be an honest look at kitchen and service efficiency. The time from sitting down to actually starting eating has been anywhere between 35 mins to over an hour. As a customer I don't want to hear that a staff member hasn't turned up and that is why it has taken 25 mins to take my order. Someone needs to quality check the food before its served, for example burnt toast and uncooked poached eggs happen too often. That being said when they get it right, they have delicious food and you could be like the people giving it five stars and have a great time. Please sort this out number 9 we want you to do well, but I wont be back until I hear that things are consistently better.

Decided to have some lunch here as we were passing by. Nice bistro, the fish gujons and burger we ordered were lovely, hot and freshly cooked. The order hadn't originally gone through the system so we did wait longer than usual but it was soon rectified and the staff were very apologetic and applied a discount, we weren't in a hurry so not a huge problem. They are having problems with the toilets so won't be great for people with mobility problems until this is rectified, There are portaloos outside but the access would be difficult.

Ordered poached eggs with salmon on toast, shocked when it arrived, no presentation just two dry pieces of white bread slightly toasted two rather sad looking eggs and a pile of salmon both placed at the side of the plate. Eggs had bits of shell in and the toast was appalling; left most of it. On the bright side the coffee was nice. Will be sticking to just having drinks there in future.

Food is trash. The service is even worse than the food. I have a all around the beach and tried every different restaurant and today I decided to try this one thinking it was going to be at least decent but most definitely is the worst place I’ve been to before I even got my food all I did was just wait. I’ve never been more dissatisfied

Met here as a half-way meeting place for lunch with friend. A good range of food, value for money, attentive friendly staff, prompt service but didn't feel rushed. Will choose here again.

Went for the first time to eat with friends. Wide and varied choice of menu from traditional dishes through to tapas . It’s fairly small but nice friendly atmosphere and the staff were very good and attentive. A good quality menu of drinks as well....

The food at number9 bistro was tasty, however I did think it was a little overpriced given the portion size. The atmosphere inside was good, with good songs playing, and the toilet was nice and clean. Parking here is very easy. We arrived on a Sunday and had the Sunday lunch as that is all they were serving, which wasn't clear from looking on the website in advance. It's something to note if you are going on a Sunday, but it was very good so I'm glad I had it.

Service was excellent. We decided to try tapas and the selection was superb. Great place to eat out.

Unfortunately Number 9 has gone downhill. Pleasant staff but food service is slow. Food is reasonable but higher price than the rest of the village. Toilets need a lot of work with broken sinks and cisterns with leaks and wet floors. I hope it gets back to it's better days.

This was a fabulous place, they accommodated 8 of us for breakfast and it couldn't have been better... Would highly recommend

Brilliant burger and chips, will visit again!

Rang tonight on off chance they could make burgers as a takeaway. Staff immediately said yes; very helpful. Two beef burgers with all trimmings and a vegan burger all absolutely smashing. Very filling, very tasty and would highly recommend.

Have just enjoyed Bistro 9 take away fish and chips. Easy to order and pleasant staff. Came accompanied by minted peas and tartar sauce. Delicious! Will definitely reorder. Thank you

Have been here so many times for delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner but tonight visited to sample the new menu. We shared tempura prawns to start, then had lobster ravioli and duck breast for our mains, well what can I say... absolutely delicious!!! Served beautifully in the usual lovely cosy and friendly environment, compliments to chefs Paul and James and host Andrea for super dinner :-)

Lovely little Bistro Stopped for breakfast. Lovely menu with great choice. I had omelette and my husband the English breakfast. Excellent quality bacon. We also shared the pancakes. They were hard & rubbery. Would not recommend these for £6-95. Food nice & hot although a little slow coming. All cooked fresh to order though. Great friendly service. Would recommend. Just avoid the pancakes !

I have been twice in one week. The food is gorgeous, nothing is too much trouble & will adapt dishes to suit dietary requirements. My daughter had pancakes on Saturday & cleared her plate which is so unusual.Will be back.

Today we had a Takeaway Sunday lunch from here as our usual place in Heddon was closed, I have to say for £12 each it was very disappointing. Parsnips were tired and floppy carrots didn’t seem fresh and overall when I opened it it just didn’t look inviting to eat. There was very little taste to it and I had to add my own salt and pepper (something I would never do to a dinner) to give it something. Overall very disappointing indeed for somewhere that actually looks like it could knock out a decent meal.

This review is written during the unique circumstances of the Coronavirus and its restrictions and I hope that this fully meets the Tripadvisor criteria as far as the present situation allows.Due to present UK restrictions due to the Covid-19 virus Number9 Bistro has taken the initiative to offer a takeaway.delivery service for Sunday lunch/dinner and I decided to give it a try. Their menu offers 3 roasts (beef, chicken and pork) and a vegetarian alternative plus desserts - we decided to keep it simple with two roast beef. I rang with my order a couple of days beforehand and was advised that pick up would be at the arranged time and payment would be taken with a contactless card at the designated window. Today (Sunday) the arrangements worked perfectlyOur takeaway meal consisted of two very good slices of beef, two roasties, mash, carrots, cabbage, parsnips, stuffing, a huge home made yorkshire pudding and a large pot of tasty gravy each. We had pre-heated plates in the oven, and did pop the meal for a few seconds after serving into the microwave just to make sure it was up to temperature. The meal was very generous in size, the beef tasty and all the vegtables were well prepared, brilliant Yorkshires and gravy. Thank you to every single staff member at Number9.

We went there for a mid-week lunch as it was stated on this site that they had vegan and vegetarian options. The only one was a “Vegetarian Burger”...this could have been delicious with a wholesome vegetarian burger and some salad but it consisted of some tired leaves, halloumi and slices of grey tomato in a brioche bun. So for the vegans the halloumi was removed and I think strictly speaking the brioche has egg in it. Really, in this day and age this is unacceptable - I am not vegan but am more than happy to eat as one if the options are good. How hard is it to make a delicious vegetable burger and add a succulent mushroom and vegan cheese. Theirs was served with chips and cost over £10. There were 2 soups but we were told that the vegetable one had milk in it.

Fantastic place. Small and friendly. Very well decorated. Tapas is very good as are the Sunday lunches. Also great for a quick coffee and cake. Recently hired whole place for family birthday, the food and service were fantastic
