Although Tom was absolutely fantastic and the food was lovely, we have had to mark down purely for the attitude of the other members of staff. Connah in particular was incredibly rude, it came across that he did not want to be there and he made that very clear to diners and his colleagues with his obvious rude comments under his breath and lack of care and attention to any customers, it wasn’t busy so there was no reason for this. As we say Tom was brilliant, attentive and knowledgeable about the area, he is a credit to his employers, the other members of staff could learn a thing or two from him.

Food is pretty mediocre for the price. Looking at the menu online it sounded a lot better than what it was on the night. I don't know if it is chain of pubs but it had a spoons vibe to it. Menus they gave us were clarty as well and caked in food previously spilt on them. Makes you worry about the bigger hygiene picture behind the scenes. Had high hopes but was generally disappointed.

Im not one for writing reviews but felt so strongly about my experience that I needed to post. My partner and I visited Saturday for a couple of drinks. Greeted by a lovely man behind the bar. The same couldn't be said for his boss the bar manager! The most rudest and miserable front of house staff i think give ever had the pleasure of meeting and observing her with other customers that we ended up leaving as the atmosphere was so bad. Will never return!

This was our second visit to the pub, which is beautifully decorated and we’d had a fairly decent experience on the Friday afternoon, so decided to book again for an early Sunday evening meal and a few drinks. Otterburn is really limited in terms of places to eat on an evening (unless you want to drive), so this pub is really the only option for many staying in the centre of the village. The young lady who greeted us was warm and welcoming and she thoughtfully put us in a quiet little corner so our large dog wouldn’t be a nuisance to any of the other diners. She also brought our drinks quickly before taking our food order. Unfortunately a few more tables arrived and the dining room was getting full and that’s when it seemed the staff couldn’t cope. We ordered another drink when our starters arrived but we got through our first and second courses without the drink arriving. No one came to check on us during the meal either. There were also two booths to the side of us and both of these parties were waiting well over half an hour to receive their drinks and there was no sign of any food, so something was wrong either with the bar staff, or not having enough waiting staff on duty to look after the number of diners. After we’d finished eating, we got fed up of waiting so I went to the bar to ask for the bill. The waitress was just pulling my husband’s beer as I approached but unfortunately it was too late by then. To be fair to her, she’d already realised many people weren’t getting their drinks and had gone behind the bar to pull them herself. She was extremely apologetic and was becoming distressed about the whole situation. I told her I wasn’t blaming her, as I could see she was busy the whole time we were there and she could only do so much, so this review is absolutely not aimed at her. When she had time, she was brilliant at her job. I’m writing it in the hope that whoever manages the dining room either gets some more resource in place during busy periods or they organise their team better. The food was okay on the whole. My Caesar Salad starter was lovely and the roast beef dinner was good, although the gravy didn’t seem to be made homemade, which was a shame. My husband had slow roasted belly pork - tasty but it hadn’t been roasted for long enough, so the fat hadn’t rendered down like it should have done and my husband left most of the meat. All in all a pretty poor experience and I won’t be rushing back if we’re ever staying in that area again. Such a shame as it could be really good but I feel they’re relying on tourists who don’t have many options to eat elsewhere and they’d have to up their standards if they had some other competition in the village.

Not a great experience - the pub was empty except one table and yet we waited ages to get any service - when we ordered food, two mains were not available so we had to re think choices. The wait was around 40 minutes for food which seemed 'warmed up from frozen' There was no check up from staff on how everything was & we had to request the bill. Apart from the young woman taking my payment , no one seemed interested in us at all - so we definitely won't be visiting there again

Very disappointing, not sure I understand Not sure why it is called a creperie. On arrival we announced we had arrived for crepes. We sat and were given menus shortly afterwards. Lots of items and only a choice of 4 crepes. We decided to share as choice underwhelming. When order taken was told there was sweet choices too, and something about the wraps could be in a crepe, all very odd. We chose a second one to share, banana. To arrive shortly after first. Mushroom was nice. We then waited probably 30 minutes for the Luke warm limp banana pancake that had a slight taste of onion. I did mention to the staff that it was not the best but there was no interest.

Someone needs to sort out a complete lack of service. On arrival, no one to greet us. When someone did turn up, he seemed annoyed, despite us trying to book earlier and being assured it would be fine after a twenty minute wait at the bar. We sat for over 20 minutes until we got our drinks. Starters arrived, but my husbands broth was spilt on him with no apology. The wait for our main course was about half an hour after finishing our starters. Far too long a wait. No one seemed to notice we had finished our drinks. I kept trying g to attract attention, but no one was checking on us. Eventually, I managed to attract the attention of someone and asked for a drink. He then walked off without asking if my husband wanted one. He did! We decided against dessert as I'd witnessed one couple having their dessert delivered but waited 10 mins to attract attention for spoons. As for the food. It completely lacked seasoning. My fish and chips were fine, but my husband didn't eat much of his pasta as it was tasteless. I'd ordered Curry Chip Shop sauce and it was so watery it had little resemblance to the real thing. The restaurant was not busy. The staff just didn't seem to care. We left and no one said goodbye or asked if we'd enjoyed our meal. A complete lack of customer service mixed with poor quality cooking made our night so disappointing. This Inn could be so much more.

Main courses were ok, the crepe (supposedly freshly prepared to order) was served at fridge temperature....... The, by the glass, red wine was oxidised. The wine (which even the manageress recognised was substandard) was replaced from a freshly opened bottle with good grace. The cost of the refrigerated crepe (which we had not eaten) was deducted from the bill with less grace. Some of the staff appeared disinterested in the quality of the food/service they were providing.

Having been recommended this place from others, and the Mrs and son liking a cocktail, we thought we’d drop in for a drink so the advertised amaretto and blueberry mojito could be sampled by those who must be obeyed. Upon arrival we were unsure if we were even able to gain access due to a wedding being advertised but after a quick mooch and speaking to staff, we managed to nab a table in the corner. I proceeded to order a large Diet Coke, orange fruit shoot and 2 of the said cocktails. Whilst placing the order, we were advised it would be a 5 minute making time which I acknowledged. The. I was hit with the bill….£26 for 2 cocktails, a Diet Coke and a fruit shoot! I took the soft drinks to our table and was advised the cocktails would be brought over in 5 minutes once made. After 30, YES THIRTY minutes they arrived and definitely not as advertised. The photo in this review (large is advertised and inset is what arrived after all this anticipation)… I won’t be in a hurry to return for these or much else based on this visit and would advise others to take heed.

After reading the reviews, we used the online booking system for a lunch booking of nine people. We didn't get a confirmation, so rang to check. The booking hadn't been received so we asked to book then on the phone. The reply was that they didn't know if they could accept nine of us. We should have taken this as a warning. However, the reply after checking was yes, and we booked for 2pm. On arrival, our table was ready and after a few minutes we were brought the menu, to be told that it was the first day of a new menu - completely different to the one on the website - and there was no crepes, fish or another dish that I can't remember. We then ordered drinks while studying the menu. After about ten minutes the drinks arrived, at which time we were ready to order but we had to call the server to do so as she left the drinks and didn't return. We were also brought an espresso martini that we hadn't ordered. We made our orders, and watched some of the food come out of the kitchen, which looked delicious. Our food took some time to arrive, but appreciate that this might have been that it was being prepared by the chef, it's obviously not fast food. By now, however, we had been at the table for more than an hour without food. When the food did arrive, it was lovely, except that the king prawn linguine was cold, and had to be sent back to the kitchen. Then the server returned to let us know that although the two portions of fish pie had been ordered, this had not been communicated to the kitchen so we were two meals short. This was my meal, and my sister's. By now, our friends were well into their meals and we were really hungry. The server apologised and asked if we wanted the fish pie, or did we want to change our orders. When asked how long the fish pie would take, it took at least five minutes to check with the kitchen (how? - surely it's just a quick word with the chef?) and upon the server's return we were told ten minutes, so decided to still have the order. When it arrived it was delicious, but certainly took more than ten minutes. By way of apology, the two fish pies were removed from the bill, and the rest of the food was discounted by 50 per cent, which of course, was welcomed. We decided not to stay for dessert, based on our experience until that point, although we originally were going to. I called for the bill, to find that we had been charged for the espresso martini that had been returned to the bar. It was then removed from the bill. The total amount payable after the cocktail and the two fish pies had been removed, then the application of the discount, was £184.82. Three different card machines were tried using my bank card, none of which worked. Then a member of the bar staff asked a colleague if they were taking card payments, to which the reply was only contactless, so nothing over £100. After a couple of minutes, I asked for the bill to be paid as two separate amounts so that I could use contactless, and of course, this worked. The staff were apologetic, and we appreciated the reduction in the bill, but this wasn't the best experience, and we definitely won't be returning if we visit Otterburn again. Surely the kitchen should have made sure they could fulfil the new menu before it was launched? Very disappointing.

Pubs that are both dog friendly and genuinely vegetarian/ vegan friendly are not always easy to find, so the website of this pub looked promising and we were not disappointed.Friendly staff, good service, a proper veggie Sunday Roast- nut roast with all the trimmings- (take note other pubs- tagliatelle, veg lasagne or salad is not a Sunday lunch and neither is just the trimmings with no roast!), very generous portions, good value and felt "Covid secure".One minor complaint was the "musak" which was a bit naff and not in keeping with what was a nice relaxing dining space, but that's just my preference. We will be going back to try some of the interesting veggie/vegan dishes on the main menu.

Visited with family we were staying In Keilder, we had a warm welcome front staff friendly and polite. Took ages for food to arrive we booked at 5pm left at 7.45pm ! On arrival the food was very good, issue our starter was not hot but was immediately removed and replaced and was very nice. Our burgers were lovely but we opted for paying extra for sweet potato fries which sadly were cold and over done. Atmosphere good and on paying the bill they removed the starter and extra for fries so redeemed themselves. Not a vast selection on the menu no specials board but food was good and would still visit again

We found this restaurant on TripAdvisor as we were staying about 20 minutes away on a mini break. We chose it because it was dog friendly and were so lucky to find such an friendly place. Our pooch was treated like a prince an given a bag of dog treats and lots of cuddles from staff. Not only this but the venue is beautiful and homely with exposed brick, chunky wooden tables and roaring fires.

Met here the night before a family wedding and booked a table for 24 people. The decor of the restaurant is very nice and the staff are cheerful and very helpful. Even though the party was rather large, the food was very nice and we did not have to wait too long for service. The menu is quite varied and on the wholem very nice.

Whilst on holiday with a large family group of 16 from a nearly three year old to a couple of over eighty year olds, we had a fabulous meal. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. We all had a range of meals and each and every one of us all had nothing but praise for such delicious food. Can definitely recommend the fish and chips, best ever. Children had a fabulous 4 course menu too. Would definitely go back.

We booked and went along. When we got there on a Sunday late afternoon we were told that Sunday lunch service was complete, despite it still being served. The children’s menu was uninspired, but my children are not yet up to adult portions. I asked if it was possible to make smaller portions of some of the adult items and was told flatly this could not be done. This left we with the option of forcing my children into stereotypical children’s food. or coming up with plan “B”. Decided plan “B” was the better option. If your children are good with an option of 4 things that are stereotypical “Children’s food” (eg chicken nuggets and chips) it is OK. If you want a restaurant to try harder to serve your children real food I would go up the road.

We popped in for coffee as we passed through Otterburn. The staff made us feel welcome, were happy to chat about the local area and invited us back to see the gardens the following day. The gardens were worth visiting...not sure what the gas burners in the middle of tables were for, though! The whole place is set up for weddings, but it’s still quite a cosy pub to visit.

Having checked the website beforehand, we earmarked this Inn as a potential for a late Sunday lunch whilst travelling home between Scotland and East Anglia. Needing a good meal to sustain us over a long drive, we dropped in, and despite not pre - booking, we were quickly seated, and treated to what can only be described as a delicious meal, using obvious high quality produce. The beef in particular was superb, and could hardly have been improved. The only adverse comment being that, to us, the quantity of vegetables seemed on the light side for our taste. Overall very enjoyable couple of hours.

{{{Trip Advisor wanted me to revise my posting about this excellent restaurant; I’ll be more succinct}}}. We walked down to the pub from the castle (based on their recommendation). My fish & chips were served hot and fresh. My spouse’s “fish sandwich” was made using the area’s specialty bread. Our portions were ample. I found my mushy peas surprisingly flavourful! My pear cider complemented my dish. The pet-friendly pub had clever accommodations for dogs.

Visited at 7pm entered and sat at a table at the back of the room in view of the bar, after 10 mins a barman came and apologised for not seeing me and brought menu. The waitress served people who came in after us and continued to ignore us for 20 min until I stopped her as she was walking past and asked if we could order. I had fish cakes as a starter plus sweet corn chips, the 2 fish cakes were average and the chips were thin and crisp to burnt. My sister had risotto rice crepe and chips which was luke warm. It is a shame the place is very nice, upmarket and furnished well but the atmosphere and attitude of staff left something to be desired.

Prompt, friendly and efficient service coupled with good food made our first visit to this establishment today a real pleasure. My wife had the traditional Sunday lunch which she said was excellent in every respect while I elected for the beer battered cod with chunky chips. The cod was as good as I’ve had anywhere, but unfortunately the chips looked and tasted burnt. Had this not been the case I would happily have given the restaurant 5 stars. We will definitely return.

My cousin and I were hugely impressed by Castaways. I had been reluctant to go because about 20 years ago the original café had been taken over by a useless couple. But when I passed and looked in, I could see that its original atmosphere had been recreated by the current management. Our reception was very friendly. The café was full (always a good sign) and we were third in the queue. Our table was soon ready and we were seatedby a waitress. We were very comfortable and the atmosphere was nice. Many pleasant people there as customers happily dining and chatting. Good choice of food and drink. I had the traditional breakfast and my cousin had… I think it was avocado and egg on sourdough bread. We were both very content with our lunch. I will certainly return and bring members of my family to enjoy castaways. Nicely sited, easy car parking and great views over Seaton Sluice and the sea. Get yourself along there and have a treat!

Warkworth has a small nucleus of great places to eat, and we'd never tried Bertrams, so we went. It was a no brainer given the quality of other reviews. The only downside was that we had to get in and out early so were nearly the first people in hence little "atmosphere" but that was our agenda not the restaurant, and we were there for the food... ... which was first class. Superb hake served with a beautiful herby crab pate and dauphinoise potatoes. The flavours were immense and everything was cooked to perfection. You notice the difference with real quality and top chef standards and this delivered for me. The lemon meringue dessert was the proverbial icing on the metaphorical cake. Superb.
