Bywell Coffee Barn in Northumberland

Visited Bywell coffee barn today and found it to be a lovely experience. Lovely staff and gorgeous food. Every member of staff was so nice and friendly it made it so pleasureable. Well done to them all they are great.

Love it here. Food is always good but the coffee let's it down sometimes.

The coffee barn has an upmarket, classy feel. Stylish decor. Coffee was really good. Food was lovely. Friendly service.

Lovely cafe. Good selection of seating. Friendly, efficient staff. Food was delicious and a variety of options. Not many vegan options for my friend but a few veggie options. Had a soup which was fresh and homemade and cakes which are very generous portions Beautiful views and the extra interior shop within the building is lovely, we visited in Dec so full of xmas decs so nice to go back in summer see what it has in then . Plenty outdoor seating to give a try on some warmer days.

Lovely venue. Plenty foodie choice. Very popular be prepared to wait. As always, lovely to visit and jasmine n lilah interiors who use the rest of this traditional farmhouse as rloom displays for interior design items. Furniture lighting picture art etc. especially their seperate Xmas decorations at this time of the year Both as lovely as always

Beautiful cakes, although I would appreciate some not quite so sweet. Lovely to explore the show rooms for neighbouring furniture and home décor company.

A beautiful coffee shop situated in Bywell. Amazing food and coffee. We had scones and coffee which tasted lovely , not to mention the clotted cream and jam. Situated within the coffee shop you can browse the the old barn conversion which has items to buy. Lovely staff , very friendly. Would highly recommend this place. Looking forward to my next visit.

I visited yesterday with a young man with autism spectrum disorder, this is one of the few cafe's that he is comfortable visiting. This time, he was scared by dogs barking in an adjacent room and was quite distressed by this. However, the staff were brilliant with him and he soon calmed down and stayed for another drink. I'm sure he will be happy to come back thanks to the way that this was dealt with. Thank you and well done!! I know how hard everyone works to make this such a nice place and the owners and team deserve credit for this. Great coffee too!!

Whilst out cycling we found this place , staff were friendly & welcoming , service was good range of food was good , it was Busy but our table was cleared and efficiently cleaned :) Cake was enormous but I managed it ,cherry & almond sweet & rich ! Lovely !

What a cracking place, well worth the effort, a wonderful welcoming atmosphere, scenery, service, food, coffee and to cap it off some super interior design pieces at good prices. Definitely a place to visit

Had a lovely afternoon tea yesterday. Sat outside in the sunshine. Tea was delicious, all homemade. Staff so friendly & helpful. Will be back soon

Worst experience I’ve ever had, customer service was an utter disgrace, completely ignored when wanting to be served and when I finally got served took over 20 minutes to get a cup of tea and a coke and people coming in for food and treats getting there’s within 5 minutes. Also manager man handled me, grabbed me harshly to push me out the way and with attitude said “I did ask you to move” 1. You have no right putting your hands on anyone 2. I’m completely deaf can’t hear anything and I rely on lip reading and 3. Patience cost nothing, don’t be a rude ignorant prick! Wouldn’t recommend stopping here at all even if you’re just passing by like myself.

We like coming here and today went on our way home from Whitley Bay specially to have a brew and a sandwich. We weren't disappointed and discovered the lovely seating area at the front. The food is good, and reasonably priced. The staff are really friendly and the service is very good.

Nice location .good views ,good looking cakes .Other than that cannot make one other positive comment . We ordered Coffees ,with 2 soups c/w scones 1 with a roll and 1 Panini. Drinks served quite quickly ,soups took quite a while and they were stone cold .Went to desk to complain as to the fact the soup was stone cold, waitress took them away ,the scones/roll were used to identify the individual bowls as the 3 of us had taken our one and only spoonful . Waitress came back to the table to inform us the microwave had broken and that was the reason the soup was cold. Now I am no chef but I do know that soup produces steam and microwaved bowls get hot . However it seems no one had noticed on taking the soup out of the microwave the lack of steam or how cold the bowls were. So,we were informed , the soup would have to be heated in a saucepan .Now whether the 3 bowls of soup were combined in a sauce pan or we were given a new batch of soup I have no idea .Though we did get the original scones and the roll back which were by now also stone cold . All drinks by the time the reheated soup arrived had been consumed .We did get an apology when the soup was returned.BUT no offer of another drink ,no one came back to ask if the soup was hot this second time. Nor were we offered any monetary recompense . VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED . The Manager should be highly embarrassed about this basic mistake happening in their establishment . Yes things go wrong but you go over and above to make things right ,but not here.

Staff very pleasant and obliging. This was my first visit. I would certainly recommend it.

Went to the shop in Corbridge and was recommended to visit the store in Bywell. Lovely shop with very nice items/ furniture, cafe was nice and food was delicious. View from front tables.

A friend and I enjoyed the Scone platter for lunch. Choice is savoury scone, with cheese, crackers a pickled onion and chutney. Yum! Service was amazing. Definitely recommend a visit!

A friend took me to The Barn for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Didn’t know it existed but what a surprise! It’s fabulous, I can certainly recommend and will be returning very soon.

Really enjoyed my first visit here with my wife and daughter. It is arranged as if it was someones home, so different rooms to choose from all with their own characteristics. It also houses a furniture shop part of which included displays on the first floor and all very tatefully presented. I enjoyed poached egg on toast and the ladies each chose from the cakes to accompany tea and Latte. The service was excellent and the staff were attentive and very friendly. It is set in a lovely location near Bywell. A gem to be discovered by anyone who hasn't yet had the pleasure. I would recommend a visit if you are ever in the area of Bywell, Stocksfield.

Lovely café with multiple cosy corners to sit. Outdoor tables with views of the Tyne Valley in good weather. Enjoy browsing the furniture displays set out in the other rooms of this lovely old building.

Love this place, all lovely home made food and the adjacent shop is fabulous full of fab furniture and home accessories, it's like walking into someone's show house 😍

5 adults and three children for brunch. Rapid service. Good food. Cheerful staff. Pleasant surroundings. The gateaux are mountainous - but calorie free I am sure.

First visit here to meet some friends. All the staff were friendly and had a warm welcome. The coffee was good quality and the food was homemade (quiche). Slightly pricey but I'd go back again.

Top quality coffee and the food from the parsnip soup the paninis the cheese scone and cheese platter and cream scone to finish and a little look round the shop which is filled with some lovely home ware and jewellery

Just lovely. Had gorgeous pea soup ,that just stayed hot with a cheese scone, delicious. Love in the food and in the place , dog friendly . Free puppycino? for my staffy, that was a first.

Had a fabulous bowl of pea and mint soup followed by a huge slice of cherry and almond cake. Everyone was friendly and the service was good.

Little hidden gem in stocksfield. The staff are so friendly and you can see it's genuine, and not because of the job. Ordered a coffee to take away which was lovely, even my mate who is really picky liked it! Had a pea and leek soup too. Absolutely outstanding. The place needs better signage but might not be possible where it is. Highly recommend this place

Very nice place excellent service.

Service wasn't great, waited for 15 mins to have order taken, to be then told they are only serving coffee and cake menu, with 20 mins to closing they wouldn't serve a second coffee as they started cleaning the machine. Surely you do that after you close and continue to serve paying customers? Good job the Errington is just up the road.

This is my second visit here and it didn’t disappoint. The food and surroundings are lovely. The staff are really good too. I was heartened to see how they helped and supported an elderly lady who was on her own, it was excellent. We’ll be back I’m sure.

Sat inside because of the sunshine and heat outside. Not impressed the way flies kept landing on the scones and cakes. No cover at the back of the stand on the counters. Food was acceptable but you dont know whats landed on it. Staff very friendly though

Visited today, beautiful outdoor setting and comfy seating, lovely staff. Waitress took our order within 5 mins and off she went. Not terribly busy, waited,waited, waited some more and thought hmmm only ordered 3 drinks and 2 cakes. 40 minutes later still nothing. Asked a waitress and apparently she forgot? Ordered again…. Waited patiently still nothing . Then food and drinks for other tables that arrived 20 minutes after us get their orders. Told management on leaving we had waited too long and it spoiled our experience. Left and visited cafe ginevera in Prudhoe, served within 5 mins. It seems staffing issues and lack of experience perhaps let this place down, shame as its a lovely venue.

Just wonderful. I celebrated my birthday here with a party of 21 people, kids and adults. And it was fab. From booking and accommodating our requests on the phone, to the service and afternoon tea on the day. Faultless - my family and I had a great time. Could not recommend this place more.

Lovely coffee barn with delicious selection of home made scones. BE WARNED......cup of coffee £4.10. I know prices have gone up but 2 coffees and 2 scones for nearly £15 is a little over the top. Although enjoyable experience, at these prices I won't be hurrying back 😢 Thank you for your reply- I apologise- the total bill for 2 coffees and 2 scones was £14.30- not quite £15 but not a 'lot less'

Lovely little place that was well patronised. The coffee and scones that we had were very nice but it is very expensive compared to other places nearby. It's nice but probably not somewhere I will go often because of how expensive it is.

I came here with my mum for some breakfast and we noticed the price increase which personally I think is ridiculous..£9.95 for a jacket potato, £9.95 for paninis, nearly £8 for scrambled eggs! if you want a drink of coke that will set you back...

This is in such a wonderful location with stunning views across the Tyne valley. The scones and cakes are delicious but I would be just as happy sitting sipping my latte and taking in the view.

A sunny bank holiday with family. Beautiful Northumberland landscape as a setting- what could be better? This is a nice spot and the quality was good. We went with a part of 7 so tried pretty much everything panini, baked potato, scones, cake. It’s all...

The atmosphere matches the food, especially on a sunny day, be seated and feel good. A tuna melt for me this time round, and a side of garlic roast potatoes, why not. And the cakes! We took ours away something to do with maybe not so bad if we eat them later, strange that they were eaten as soon as we got home. Wonderful location, wonderful food, beyond wonderful staff, what’s not to like!

3 coffees, 2 sweet slices and a bit of cake £23 ish ,the fruit and nut almost broke the knife! I went back in and bought a scone to take away which was £3! I’ve never paid that anywhere for a scone ,I wasn’t offered...

Poor service- This isn't my first time at the cafe, it took almost an hour to be served. They constantly used the excuse they were busy, causing me to get up and leave.

We visited today with my young son and elderly grandparents. The venue was extremely busy, but the staff could not have been more helpful or accommodating to our various needs. This is the first time we have visited and it will certainly not be our last. The venue is beautiful, the food is excellent and the staff are genuinely lovely. As I was about to write this review, I noticed extremely negative comments by a customer who must have been at the cafe, the same time as we were. I think their comments are entirely unjust, as the service was excellent and despite being run off their feet, the staff remained polite, friendly and extremely accommodating. Well done and thank you.

Cakes and hot drinks are gorgeous here and the surroundings in the middle of beautiful nature, what more could you ask for. Also some nice little shops to browse through and all set in pretty sandstone cottages.
